I had been a client of multiple upscale salons over the years.. from Buckhead to Atlanta to Alpharetta and have now finally found my hair home in Marietta. Bella is second to none in her skill level with color. We as women, know how very important it is to have color done well. Bella definitely has the right touch. Dee Dee is a master with cuts. I have never left her chair less than fully happy with the way my hair is cut. Adorable lady. A great thing about this salon is that I can choose my own preferred person to perform each individual service. I had a very upsetting experience at Elon Salon in Marrietta. I went in for a routine root touch-up, but during the service the chemicals caused a severe burn on my scalp. It was painful enough to result in bleeding, and I'm currently dealing with scabbing while it heals. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What was most concerning was the explanation I received afterward. I was told the burning happened because I had washed my hair that morning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I've never been told this before in any salon experience, and it did not feel like an adequate or professional explanation for the severity of what happened. I understand that chemical services carry some risk, but causing burns and bleeding indicates something went seriously wrong. I moved recently. My hairdresser is amazing but lives far from me now so I gave Elon a shot. I wish I had never gone there. I am very disappointed. I don't like writing bad reviews so I gave myself a whole day to calm down before I wrote this. I got color and cut services. I already had a full head of highlights. As the roots grew, I needed a bit more highlights just on the top part of my hair. This lets me postpone doing a full set of highlights for a few more months. I have been getting highlights and maintaining them this way for the last 25 years so this is certainly not my first time doing this. We agreed with Sami, the stylist, that I like my existing caramel/honey highlights and I just needed her to add more of the same on top. Well.... she decided to dye my existing highlights to a dark brown so now I have a full set of dark brown hair with just a few highlights on top. It's significantly A LOT darker than I like my hair to be. I should have stopped right there and not continue with the cut so this part is on me. I showed her the cut I wanted on my phone (i uploaded my picture to chatgpt and designed the cut exactly the way I wanted it and saved that picture) Instead of giving me a stylish, fresh and edgy look, she gave me a boring, conservative and uneven cut. Yes, uneven as if a visually impaired person did the cut! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had given up on the color but I tried to tell her what I didn't like about the cut but she said she was very proud of the cut and that I should just buy some of their hair products to make it better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I gave a deep sigh, told her I don't want to buy any products, paid and left. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Debbie Westbrook was my stylist and I really didn't have complaints, until this past week.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I showed her a pic of the last time she colored/highlighted my hair and she assured me she would color/cut it the same.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 3 1/2 hours later I was a bleached out mess and it looked nothing like the picture. She even popped in one foil after processing to try and fix a place that was pulling brass and never washed the bleach out in the sink! My scalp continued to burn until I got home. Just rubbed it off after with a wet towel! My salon experience turned into a nightmare after receiving a certificate for a free cut and color. Initially excited about trying a new salon, I was misled about the pricing and availability of certain colors. Despite being assured over the phone that purple and blue were options, I was informed upon arrival that these colors were not covered by the certificate. Feeling pressured and with important events coming up, I reluctantly agreed to pay for the color. During the consultation, the stylist mentioned a price range of $60 for 3oz or $80 if another oz is needed. Looking back, it was really shady to word it that way but since I've had my hair colored so much I knew that my shoulder length pair has never needed more than 4 oz of color. However, when it came time to pay, the bill was a staggering $180. I left in tears, but justified it to myself that it would be a one-time splurge and I would never make this mistake again. That night, however, once I finally got a good look at my new haircut and color in the mirror, I saw that my greys were almost all not covered, but that the way it was styled hid it as I took one look in the mirror before leaving the salon. I called the next day to explain the grey situation, and the woman who answered said she would absolutely have it corrected for me and tried to schedule me in as soon as possible. I also had mentioned as a learning opportunity that the consultation was not very informative because the price was three times the amount I was consulted on. She said it should have been $64 to $84 and Madison could bring me up to the front when I come on Saturday and they can rectify it. I still felt really uneasy because I felt that Madison was intentionally deceiving me during the consultation and also that she had seen the greys while drying and styling and intentionally hid her mistakes. The next day I got a confirmation phone call to remind me of my appointment. Later, I called to ask if I could speak to Madison because I wanted to confirm that she could cover my grays before I leave my house at 7:15 a.m. on a Saturday for an appointment. At this point, they said that actually they were going to call me because they do not do any color correction for non-natural colors. I was shocked at this, but stated then I would need a partial refund instead, to which they said no. Then the lies: 1) when I asked how I had never used more than 2 to 4 oz on my hair before, what made Madison need 9 oz, I was told it must be because of all of the other colors I've used before are more pigmented (so you carry an inferior product?!) 2) The next thing she says is that Madison had no idea that I wanted my grays covered. In the consultation chair I'm talking about how young I am and how much gray I have and that I need an all-over color. Who would ever come in for an all over color and say that they want their whole head of purple redone except for the new growth of grays!? To which she scrambles to: 3) Our fashion colors do not cover grays. I say to her that if you have a client in the consultation chair with a significant amount of grays, who wants her gray covered, and who has never used a product that has not covered her grays, you need to let her know that the products you keep in store do not work for greys! Not to mention, why was I told that I could keep my 8:00 a.m. appointment on Saturday for her to fix it but I would have to pay for it, if she just got done telling me that their product won't cover grays! At this point they clearly can't fix my hair, so I just need some sort of refund. She says that she cannot give that refund without a manager approval, and am told the classic line that he is probably in a meeting, and then put on hold, and when she comes back he confirms that he is truly in a meeting with no offer to call me back afterwards. At this point, I had given them multiple opportunities to either correct or refund my terrible service, to which they have denied all of it, and so I am here to warn you to not make the same mistake I have which cost me so much time and money! read more

I wish I could rate this place zero stars! I never write reviews but I felt the need to protect POC from entering this salon. If you're thinking about booking an appointment, please DON'T! My aunt went in last week to get simple highlights and left the salon horrified and in tears. She had large clumps of hair falling out from over bleaching!! She said her stylist (Rachel) was completely distracted and left the bleach on her hair much longer than she was supposed to. The worst part of this story is that she asked to speak to a manager while she was in tears and there was no manager in the building. They offered her no reconciliation and made her feel uncomfortable for crying over her hair. She felt that they were treating her different because she was a different race and we're making fun of her because of her language barrier. This salon is nothing short of unethical and racist! I'm pretty distressed. I've been growing out my hair for 6 years now trying to get it back to my longest length. My ends were getting pretty split though after not getting a trim all pandemic, so it was time for a trim. I said I wanted the bare minimal cut off to get rid of the split hairs. The next thing I know years of growth has been cut off my hair! It's shorter than immediately after my haircut a year ago. I'd taken such pride in my length and I feel neutered. Some warning signs that I stupidly ignored (with the mindset that my request was simple and no way what I wanted would be ignored): -a quiet, off-hand comment that my hair was too long -seeming to not understand how to even wash the long hair -lowering my chair to the lowest level and then leaning over 90° to cut my hair. Additional notes: The layers that I asked for didn't happen at all. When my blonde mother got her hair done and asked for a light ginger color, she got pink hair and a curler scald on the neck. You get what you pay for... I received a free color and cut coupon in the mail. While I was promised my whole hair would be dyed, the "color" was just dying my roots bright red. The color on the rest of my hair was from a previous color job and they made no effort to blend it at all. Please I beg you do not use any coupons from here, you'll only sit there for 3 hours with bad results. My normal hair stylist for years retired so I decided to give this place a try. I should have read the Yelp reviews first. Should have been a big red flag when they had an appointment available first thing next day on a holiday weekend. My stylist, Rachel, took me back and washed my hair. She said I looked like a needed some conditioner as my hair was dry; she did not indicate that this specific conditioner was an extra treatment with an extra cost - a surprise I would find out at the counter when I was paying to leave was almost more than my haircut ($25 for conditioner). I usually have a very simple haircut - just take off the split ends - no color, no layers, nothing special. Rachel and I chatted and I learned that she had been cutting hair for thirteen (thirteen!!) years - this really surprised and horrified me later that night. After the cut, I went up to the counter to check out which is when I learned that I had been duped into the special conditioner treatment. I politely told the sales clerk that this was not presented to me as an extra service and my permission for an extra service was not obtained. She giggled and said she would tell Rachel she needed to be clearer next time. I was pissed. My bill was now $66 for a simple hair cut (note that Rachel is a lower level stylist so her fees are cheaper). They gave me a coupon for $5 off my next visit although I knew I was never going back after they charged me $25 for conditioner. I sat in the car fuming, debating on whether I should go back in. I decided to go home, let it go, and just not come back. HOWEVER, that night when showered, I blew my hair dry like I always do and was absolutely mortified by the cut - one side of my hair was a good 3-4 inches longer than the other, and there were some pieces that looked as if they hadn't been cut at all. The pictures will tell the story here. Now, I remind you that I just wanted 3 inches off, straight across the bottom. I knew that the salon needed to make this right; I'm not a diva by any means, but this was horrendous. I did my due diligence (sadly, after the fact); haircut was 7/3: -7/7/2021 - I called the salon and spoke to the assistant manager (Paige); told her I just wanted my money back and did not want anyone else there to cut my hair; she told me I needed to speak to the other manager who would be back Monday -7/9/2021 - I spoke with Paige again who gave me the same story and said the manager will call me back -7/13/2021 - no call from manager so I called back twice this day -7/14/2021 - called and they said manager would be back after lunch. I called back again after lunch as the manager did not call me; spoke to Hannah and left my name and number To this day, I have not been contacted by the salon. DO NOT GO HERE. This is my hair after spending $230 at Elon Salon. I cried, after over a decade of getting my hair bleached, this never happened anywhere else. They tried to "fix it" before my interview at my new job. I lost more than half my hair and I will never be going back. I was a client there for 6 years & then this happened. I was very loyal and referred A LOT of people. This "work" was the assistant's doing. My stylist never touched my hair (as she is a much better stylist than this work)and I was there but I was still charged professional price. I had been to Elon years ago but decided to give it another try and it came back to me why I stopped. I saw Acacia and am thoroughly disappointed for the service I got for $220 - which is so much money for me at this time!! First of all she was working on 4 other people besides me and cut maybe 1/18 of an inch off the front of my hair, added a few highlights but made sure to do the moisture treatment and some other treatment and then on the way out was only worried about buying products. I had an appointment MLK weekend scheduled with my stylist. The morning of my appointment I got a call saying that Taylor didn't show up, no real explanation given. They offered to have another stylist do my hair and I said I'd rather stick with the stylist I know and has done my hair before. I made an appointment for 2 Saturdays after, last weekend. Then last Thursday I got a call that Taylor was going to be out on Saturday, explanation given was that her kids were sick. That's a reasonable excuse. I explained that I'd still prefer to see Taylor instead of seeing someone else, and she said Taylor would be back on Tuesday and offered me a 10 am appointment. I work, and explained that I could do an evening but not day appointments during the week. She offered me tonight, Wednesday at 5. I usually work until 5, but since I have had appointment problems twice I took it. I received the text saying my appointment had been made. I got there 15 minutes before my appointment and they had no record of the appointment. Offered another stylist to me again and when I expressed my frustration they said I'm sorry, but that felt hollow. 3 strikes your out, I'm not giving such a poorly run salad my money. Additionally, my mother has had appointment issues as well. Her first appointment was not found when she got there. They gave her a different stylist last fall. And the second appointment she had they called ahead to let her know the stylist was out and asked if she'd like to see someone else. They have a systemic appointment problem, obviously need a new system that actually works. They also have flakey stylists that don't show up to work. Unfortunately, the last 3 consecutive hair appts. were cancelled by the salon due to Taylor calling in sick that same day. I used to absolutely love this salon. Mia was my stylist for over the course of 2 years. A week after having a full set of blonde highlights the front part of my head started getting brassy. I went in for Mia to fix. She said no problem. When she was done the top half of my head was so blonde that it didn't even blend in with the back half of my head. I have never told a stylist that I was unhappy but it was terrible!!!! Even the girl that washed my hair out agreed with me. I nicely told her that the front half was way too blonde and did not blend. She agreed to fix it. Throughout the fix she was pulling my hair and acting pissed off at me. She corrected the mistake. When I needed to make another appt I decided to give another stylist a shot since Mia acted the way she did to me. I booked an appt with Acacia. Worst decision ever.... I would have been better off going to great clips. She didn't talk to me whatsoever, left the bleach on way too long, and cut 3 inches off my hair (when I said trim it). After this terrible experience I have cut Elon salon off. I will never ever go there again. Steer clear ladies!!! Not to mention my highlights and hair cut was over $200. I went to Vanasons salon on Delk rd. recently and have the BEST experience ever. She corrected my hair and lectured me on how damaged it was from the blonde highlights being left on way too long. DO NOT GO TO ELON SALON. I have been coming here since I was 15, I am 25 now. I have been through many stylist due to them leaving or moving. Since Covid, the salons vibe has completely changed. This place used to be a place you come to feel refreshed and welcomed. Now it is a place of judgment and a dark environment. No one smiles at you anymore. No one is caring, just judge-mental. Overall just a depressing vibe. But I am a loyal customer so I kept pushing through. In October I asked for a stylist who was yet again recommended (due to my stylist leaving) for all over color to just bring me back to my natural dark brown after having balayage in it for years I was tired of the upkeep and the wear and tear the bleach had to my hair. Instead I walked out with a head full of foils and streaks in my hair. I bit the bullet and learned to deal with it. What I had been told would be a $100 haircut turned into almost $400 dollars because the stylist did what she wanted instead of what i wanted. I was extremely disappointed with the experience. Before that, an apprentice who was helping my stylist I had been with for years, left me under the foils to long. My hair had melted off. She continued to brush and blow dry my hair which ended up ruining my hair and had to spend hundreds of dollars on treatments to regain hair strength. The salon only paid for one of them. Fast forward to yesterday, I explained to Sami that I had some horrible experiences before, and just wanted a carefree and enjoyable time at the salon where I got what I paid for. Instead I left with 6 inches cut off of my hair when I asked for a TRIM. She never once asked if the length she was cutting was okay with me, she just cut. The damage was done. Not only did I leave with the hair cut I did not ask for me. I left with hair dye 3 shades darker than my natural color which is what I was wanting. Once I got in the chair to get my hair dried. It noticed my roots were 3 shades lighter by 2-3 inches. It looked like I had growth and not brand new hair color in my hair. I would attach pictures if it would allow me so I will post on yelp. I kept convincing myself it was the lighting, so I paid, tipped 25% and walked to my car. Immediate tears. I looked like a joke. The fact that I walked through the salon looking like that, paid, and NO ONE said anything. SHAME ON YOU ELON SALON. I immediately came in and said it must be fixed. Showed pictures of what my hair looked like in daylight and she gasped, and grabbed Sami the stylist to chat with me. This is where I was blown away, she was making excuses, making me feel responsible for not saying anything and that it was my fault. She said we can redo. I said. I am surprised you were okay with me leaving that way did you notice it? She said YES?!? She KNEW I walked out looking this was. To paid you a visual. I looked like I was growing out black hair for 3-4 months with no touch ups. So I stood up, went back to the front and asked for a new stylist, it is now 12:30PM. I had been there since 10:45AM, after sitting there for 15 minutes I was told I would have to come back at 3:30 that day, I said no. This was no a priority to them. Then they told me 1:30 with Sami, the stylist who knew she did a horrible job and blamed me for the bad coloring. - sorry I am not the one who has been doing "hair" for "15 years" - So now 20 minutes of waiting I get sat in a chair with a sweet stylist named Maddie. If you are reading this Maddie, thank you for doing what you did. I finally finish up at 2:30 and go to counter and I am told I do not to pay which I expected but I had insisted my 25 percent tip I had given Sami be given to Maddie. They laughed (bright blue hair - can't remember her name) and said that they could not do that. So the. I had to tip another 25% for the stylist who deserved it. Morale of the story. DO NOT COME HERE. They changed their hair coloring formula and I have been getting chemical burns on my scalp but did not know that until I was told by the stylist that she experiences the same thing with Elons color. I have been here a couple times now and always had good enough experiences until this time. I'm a natural brunette and asked for blonde very natural balayage and cut. Showed my stylist, Acacia multiple photos and even asked if it was possible considering how dark my hair was to begin with. She of course said yes without hesitation. Once I was at home and able to see my hair in natural lighting I realized how HORRIBLE my hair looked. There was a combination of orange/brassy color and extremely light blonde with no dimension throughout the balayage. There was also a stark contrast between the color of the top of my hair and the color of the bottom of my hair without any attempts to blend it naturally. Very disappointed in the results and will never go back here again. Please know that I do not hastily leave this review. I received a coupon in the mail for a free cut and color. I have a very short cut, so, there's not much to it. I told Rachel (who seemed to be in a huge hurry) that I want a cut and highlights. She explained to me that they book a client every hour so they must hurry. NOT a good practice! In Rachel's panic to make sure she was available for her next appointment she began putting the foils in my hair, while doing this she was flipping the color all over the place. A blob landed on the sleeve of my black shirt, I said nothing, grabbed a tissue and wiped it off. Rachel ran and got a wet towel and wiped it again. They have this weird practice of having you lean forward to have the foils put in, frankly, I've NEVER been in a salon that asks you to lean forward and bend your head down for highlights, or any service for that matter, I was quite uncomfortable, as I've had back surgery. I also noticed that when they cut long hair they ask the client to stand... who does this? Anyway, when Rachel finished with the foils she put me under the dryer. As I sit there a foil falls out of my hair, now, I'm 55 years old and have had my hair done on more than one occasion, I've NEVER had this happen. So, I continue to sit, and low and behold another foil slides out of my hair. I call Rachel over, she places a tissue in my hair. While she is placing tissue in my hair I decide to check out the sleeve of my shirt, the dye has bleached out the color. Rachel walks away and comes back with another wet towel. She again blots my sleeve and then places a piece of tissue between my sleeve and my skin, she walks away, saying nothing. I thought that she was doing this so my wrist wasn't wet, in fact, what she'd done was to dab my shirt with black hair dye to cover the bleach mark. As I continue to sit there two (2) more foils fall out of my hair. I can take it no longer, I ask for a Manager. The Manager began to apologize as she walked toward me, as she could see that the foils that did remain in my hair were in my eyes and had to be lifted in order to see in front of me. She apologized profusely, and I appreciated her genuine concern. I then met another girl, who's name escapes me. This young lady tried her best, but it only got worse from there. In trying to make small talk with the new girl I ask if she's got big plans for Christmas. She explains that she was supposed to go to her younger Sister's Christmas function. Now mind you, this was Dec. 8th, my appt. was at 5:30 and the time now is 7:15pm. I mentioned to her what time it was and she began to tell me that she would have been gone, but, "they asked me to stay, a problem came up, so I stayed". I then pointed to myself and said " a problem, like me"? she said "yes... but I'm a team player so I don't mind". At this point things could not have gotten worse, I felt like shit, looked like shit and saw no help in sight. I finally left the salon in tears at 8:30 pm. I have sent two e-mails to the salon and left several messages for a return call from Robert Hightower, needless to say, I've heard nothing from anyone. I'm so concerned about my thinning hair and they made me feel beautiful and like a VIP. My hair looks fantastic. I will be coming back with my whole family!! DON'T DO IT !!I I wish I could give them zero stars. I Never left a bad review before. But this salon was by far my worst experience ever. I asked for highlights and showed the stylist pictures of what I wanted. After I got home and was able to see my hair in natural light. I realized how horrible my hair looked, there was no highlights at all. I called them to redo it, she said to come back and they will fix it. The new stylist ( Rachel) applied bleach and foil. After she dried my hair I found that my hair was damaged and pieces were falling off. When I asked why this is happening. She said because she applied bleach and foil tow days in a row ( I wish that she would have told me that before damaging my hair) . When I asked to talk to the manager, the front desk lady told me that the manager just left and refused to give me his contact information. And said that there is nothing we can do and you can call the salon in a different day to talk to the manager. Do go there if you want to save your hair. read more

I have been coming to Elon Salon for years and have always been pleased. I feel like my stylist is always sharing info about new classes and techniques. I love that they have a consultation before every appointment to make sure we are on the same page. Prices are a little steep but I always leave with great color and style. read more

I actually frequented this salon for several years (6 or 7, if memory serves), until I received a chemical burn from a botched color treatment that rendered my entire scalp one big scab. I revisited the next day, letting the stylist assess the damage. No refund was offered for the EXPENSIVE initial service, no solution to the dilemma was offered, and no apology either, for that matter. I ended up seeing my dermatologist for an evaluation and treatment, and had to endure the pain of the burn and months of growing out the damaged hair, as well. Oh, and they only had spa service robes in one size (another minus). Kinda pretentious place, too, looking back. I've never been back. read more

HORRIBLE. i brought in pictures from the last cut and color i had - VERY clear close-ups, very detailed. i asked the stylist if she could do that - yes, she says that she has 5 years of experience doing hair and she can do a punk style like that. WRONG she BUTCHERED my hair. she turned a punk style into an average every day BORING style. and she got all upset with me when i told her it wasn't right. seriously!? you're not the one who has to wear this until it grows out. and YOU are going to get upset with me being upset?! i haven't had a bad stylist experience in a LONG time, and that salon offered to rectify the situation when my hair grew back out - and they made it better. this place? i didn't get ANYTHING. don't waste your time or money. the ONLY reason i went there is the my usual stylist is out on maternity leave and i read some decent-enough reviews online. i'm thinking that not enough people are willing to tell the truth about this "institution". well, here's the truth: they aren't that awesome. thanks for nothing, elon salon. read more

I came in several years ago when they were doing their grand re-opening. They sent me a card in the mail for a free cut and color. I was looking for a new salon anyway so I tried it out. A girl at work warned me about Elon and said she'd had a bad experience and would never go back... I should have listened. At first I was impressed with the atmosphere and that it appeared so busy. Upon entering, I had high hopes and positive expectations, despite my co-workers warnings. The girl who did my hair began with the color. She gobbed it straight on my head and swirled it around with excess dripping down my face and neck. I honestly haven't had such a horrible color experience since my first time coloring it in my best friend's bathroom at 15 yrs old. She added insult to injury by complaining the entire time that she had an appointment of her own she was in a hurry to keep and needed to leave soon. After the color, I was pretty upset, but I figured, "in for a penny, in for a pound"... I let her lead me over to her cutting and styling station and looked at the chair she waved me to.... Covered in hair from her last client! WHAT!? oh no! When I called to ask them to remove me from their mailing list due to a horrible experience in their salon... She just asked for my name and took me off. No questions about my experience, no effort to find out the problem and do any kind of quality control or customer service. I will never go back and I wouldn't recommend anyone else go here either. Yelp wasn't around then, but seeing the last piece of mail they sent me prompted my call to be removed and this review. read more

Edit : stopped by to see what could be done - Flonnie is apparently the owner and offered me a " $25 complimentary protein treatment" as a token of my frizzy not curly hair gee thanks.... then offered to take the perm out. So, $140 for you to put a perm in and then take it out? Nope. Then some free products were offered...pass. Never again. Complete joke of a small business. I had a pretty horribly experience here. Flonnie was my stylist. Her assistants were probably my favorite part! They were so attentive and actually cared if I was comfortable or not. They smiled a lot and made genuine conversation - those girls deserve a raise! I wanted a body wave, highlights and a cut. Once I arrived she advised me that I needed to get an additional conditioning protein treatment thing, it was $25 so I agreed. They started with the shampoo and protein. The body wave was not very good. I was very worried that the curls wouldn't hold in my hair and I asked that my stylist take a look at my hair and let me know her thoughts. I definitely did not want to spend $140 on something that wouldn't work! My stylist said my hair was "strong" and it would be fine. After the body wave was completed my hair looked scraggly and not curly at ALL. She said it looked "beach wavy" but it looked more like frizzy tangles to me. At the end of my service, she actually used a curling iron to give the curls that I thought the body wave would produce. I wasted $140 because my hair after my shower this morning dried completely straight...like it always has. Only now it's frizzy and looks like a 7 year old curled it. Thanks Elon Salon!!! read more
