My food was cold and under seasoned staff was pretty friendly, but don't mean to sound condescending, but you know how our people are

The restaurant was clean and orderly. Our dinners came in a timely manner and were prepared correctly. My big complaint is our entrees were not very hot. The restaurant was about a third full so there's no excuse to serve warm food. Very disappointed

No way to keep it warm when it's in a little plastic milk jug. Never mind the fact how ridiculous it looked to put out on a table. Most places sell coffee in a nice container, so it can sit on a table. I ordered biscuits and gravy. They gave me gravy with no biscuits. I had $140 worth of food and not a single serving utensil. I asked for some sugar-free syrup in addition to the little bottles of regular syrup they give you and it was leaking and sticky and ended up all over the food items. They sent me my drinks, but 0 cups. Even if we wanted to drink the lukewarm coffee out of the milk jug we wouldn't have had any cups to do so. Our sausages were burnt to a crisp, no one ate them. Just an underwhelming experience altogether. I showed up at 8:30 to pick up my order. It wasn't ready yet. I don't mind waiting a few minutes. I ordered it at 8:30 knowing I didn't have my breakfast until nine, but had I known parts of my order we're going to be missing and what a sloppy mess it would've been. I would've ordered sooner so I could've cleaned it up before I presented it. I don't even know if the food was good, I just know it looked like crap and parts of it were missing. I didn't even get the opportunity to eat it... Which is fine all things considered. Not sure I would've wanted to.

Thanks to Doordash for remembering my ordered items. Prices are $10-15 for pub type food so not bad So this is your late night grub spot in my opinion. Its midnight. We got a couple versions of the soul rolls which are egg rolls with different items inside. We got the Philly cheesesteak roll, buffalo chicken, jerk chicken. Also tried burgers and chilli cheese fries. They really need to upgrade their to go containers. The prices are inflated when using Doordash so use it to upgrade your to go. They are using the cheap styrofoam containers and you have egg roll type items so guess what happens when you get them? You get soggy egg rolls. Especially the jerk and buffalo chicken. They put the jerk and buffalo sauce on the outside of the Roll so it's just a soggy mess that honestly I got tired of fooling with it. Should be able to pick up n eat an eggroll. The flavor and everything was okay but the point of getting an egg roll is to have that crunchy type taste right?. The burger was well done with no options to remove onions or other items you don't like. It had zero flavor to me. The best thing that I had was the chili cheese fries and I don't particularly like chili but it was after midnight so post bar food. I think if they upgrade their to-go containers the rolls could be a highlight but for right now I'm cool on ordering from them.

I'm not gonna pretend I *KNOW* soul food. I never lived in the South, or anywhere that's known for…read moretheir soul food offering. The only experience I have are from my L.A. days. You'll always come across those mom-n-pop grandma's recipe shops, and you'll also find a little better known places like Roscoe's Chicken. Between all of those experiences, I'll just say I have a little taste of what a good soul place should feel like and taste like. Went with a family on a Sunday, and the place was empty. You can definitely tell it's a family-run business by the way all of the staff talk to each other. Nicely put, very homey. Not-so-nicely put, very unprofessional. Again, depends on the person. I don't mind the homeyness of the place as long as they get their jobs done. In our experience though, it wasn't so. Ordering the food was actually plenty pleasing and even entertaining. Girl at the counter was very nice about explaining their menus and what to and not to get currently. I took their recommendations and went with a pig feet plate, chicken plate, and a few side items for my wife and daughter. Food took way too long to come out. Again, had what came out been great, it wouldn't have mattered. I would have accepted that good home-cooked meal can take a little longer than norm. But that wasn't the case, either. Pig feet and chicken were both just okay and side dishes were overdone. It really was unacceptable what came out after 45 minutes of waiting. I still ended up finishing my pig feet plate and we packed the rest home. I don't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure I was the one who had to finish up the leftovers, for my wife and daughter didn't touch it neither there or at home. I really wanted to like them. I guess I'll move onto the other two soul food places I have bookmarked.

Nope. I could leave…read morereview at that, but you likely want details... Lemme start by saying that I was excited to see a soul food restaurant in Toledo and that Sunday's had a buffet. That sounded great!!! Walk in for the $13/$13.99 Sunday buffet, and pay up front. The good is behind glass, you tell the server what you want, and she puts it on a plate. I love this sanitary approach! But the food...y'all it is so bad. -The fried chicken (dark meat) had a good crisp but no flavor. -The black eye peas were ok. - The mashed potatoes I SWEAR TO GOD WERE OUT OF A BOX. These were not real potatoes and I am so angry a "soul food" restaurant is serving this garbage. - the turkey was meh - the dressing with the turkey made the turkey taste better for sure. But was just ok. - the lemonade had a bad flavor. Maybe they used a mix and out too much mix in? I was unhappy but the. The potatoes made me rage. Ugh! That said, the service was exemplary. The young woman working the front did an amazing job.

The current tenants are serving up a mixed bag of southern fare, burgers and a bit of soul food along the way. Sadly today, the one thing they were out of was the one thing I came in for... the gumbo. Long story short, I will be back because I've heard it's really good. As for the burgers? Super fresh with a home cooking vibe. The fries? Cooked to order with skins on and really great! I added cheese and recommend you do as well. To note: their menu is super limited in addition to their "daily" specials, but it looks like their "daily" specials might be available all the time. Also note: beverage offerings are super limited. No tea or coffee. Just canned soda and bottled water. Next visit, I'm going to hopefully try that gumbo... and maybe some fried fish. Hoping this small joint succeeds, as it adds a missing element to downtown Toledo. Super friendly staff and great prices. This is not fancy food, it's just good food.

I didn't request chicken or anything on it as I didn't want to spend the extra money (or have the company pay extra, more precisely). Our orders were called in and I didn't think anything further of it. When the order arrived, the staff handed out containers of food. I waited and waited and waited. At the end, there was an extra grilled chicken salad (what I would have ordered if I really got what I wanted) - and they handed it to me. YAY! The salad was much like a cobb - with some mixed greens in addition to iceberg lettuce. There was some cheddar, cukes, egg, cut up chicken breast and more. It came with dressing, but I do eat my salads dry. There was enough stuff on it that I really didn't miss having a dressing (I do like oil and vinegar - but again, wouldn't get that on an order being delivered in). Was the salad the best ever? No. But considering I had packed fruit and assume they would bring in something I don't eat, I was quite happy and enjoyed my lunch. I would definitely order this again so I return and be given the same menu options.

My man has been talking about this place forever and raved about the tacos. So now that they got on GrubHub I can get delivery because they have some very odd hours. We ordered a breakfast taco with chorizo and egg chips and quesabirria tacos and the man was extra hungry so he even added in a couple hot dogs with fries. Now at this point it was almost closing time and I always tell him do not order food when it's near closing but he wanted it so we got it. So we didn't get any queso with the chips which is a little bit of a big deal for me because I don't particularly like salsa so if I get chips I get queso so since I didn't get any queso the chips are still sitting on the counter 3 days later. The breakfast taco was okay. Way too much cilantro in there. He ate his quesabirria tacos and he seemed to be mostly pleased. The hot dog completely sucked. Just no flavor and we threw the second away. Fries needed salt added. But.. I would have never ordered it from here myself personally but I tried it because hey it's here. It really didn't taste very good and there's no option to take off like onions or anything if you order online. Something for lowrider to think about for their online orders. Not everybody wants onion and relish on their hot dog. I'm impressed with the place because I know they do a lot for the homeless community but as for the food it's just average to me I've had way better in Texas and out west.
