    Welcoming coffee ....
    Allan S.

Tried the pies: vanilla peanut butter pie had pronounced vanilla flavor but not overwhelming, nice rich peanut butter flavor you'd expect and the crème topping was a nice light taste that was balanced - the crust however was surprisingly bland and tasteless. Not sure if I expected a honey taste or a typical flaky crust taste what I didn't expect was a complete void of any taste at all. The chocolate peanut butter pie was a bit different had a basic chocolate pudding taste but lacking a huge chocolate flavor like the deep flavor in the vanilla version, shockingly it was lacking was an overall peanut butter flavor while eating the pie unlike its vanilla counterpart where every bite had the PB flavor prevalent in every bite the chocolate version the PB was glaringly absent a big disappointment, the crème topping was balanced and pleasant but thick dominating the flavor of this pie - again the crust however was surprisingly bland and tasteless. Researching menus and the pie history I believe the way it used to be done and now has changed in the past the crème topping was 1/2 the thickness and the PB combo pies had a distinct PB layer between the flavored bottoms and the crème toppings that are lacking in current versions. Past crusts were distinct thickness approx twice the thickness as current versions and a whole different color much browner which would indicate it would have the "flaky" texture you'd expect from their style of pies which currently completely lack any real texture and:or flavor...perhaps it's my batch perhaps I'm being too picky I'm not a pie eater per say but I do know my crusts and what to expect out of a beloved establishment with a rich history in pie making - remember your roots and what made you famous to begin with all the good service in the world won't win you new customers with these pies unfortunately - sadly I cannot recommend these pies for dessert it pains me to write this because I was so happy to see them rebound after the fire - was my first visit as well adding to my disappointment my mum raved about them so expectations were high but alas they failed every level this particular visit - added the picture from your own menu of what I was expecting for visual representation - bring back the past flavors and flaky crust PLEASE!!! PS: Doug & Betty thank you for your reach out and responding to my review it's nice to know owners read reviews - wish more did - I certainly look forward to coming back and giving it all another try - I generally hate leaving bad reviews but also believe in honesty and sharing good and bad, you can't improve what you don't know is wrong - Blessings

Long time serving up pies and eats since 1948. Diner has the old school vibes with a counter which are the best place to sit allowing you to to be in the midst of it all. The dining area is quaint with some booth seating and tables. Service is friendly and each person had a personality that made for the best experience in this old piece of history still doing things well. Nothing screams healthy, my egg salad even had extra mayonnaise slathered on both pieces of bread. The chicken noodle soup had thick egg noodles, the small size is a very generous serving. Pies, yes they make plenty of pies and the earlier you get there your odds go up drastically for getting your choice, I don't know a pie I don't like so just bring a couple slices and call it the end of the day or diet. Awesome spot.

Vintage classic all American diner! Super homey, feels like you're in a small town here where locals come to eat and enjoy talking to each other. Service was great! Food was good! The pies were phenomenal! No complaints here. Enjoyed everything about this diner! Would love to come back again!

Great homemade pies, including my favorite:rhubarb! Went for lunch two days ago and the place was packed (as it usually is, which tells you people love the good!}. You can get breakfast anytime and I usually do; the servings are huge and always served quickly and hot. But i decided on a cod sandwich and hand-cut fries, which were plentiful, tasty and golden. I love diners, especially ones with counters and stools and Schmucker's has 2 with 6 stools each. People usually talk to the strangers on each side of them and watch the kitchen and waitstaff action. There also 3 or 4 booths and a couple 4 top tables. These are real servers, handling 6 customers at once, calling you "sweetie," and regulars by their first name. My food was hot and delicious and got my pie to go. The crust was flaky and the rhubarb filling tart, which i love. Customers will find specials like hot toast beef or turkey with mashed potatoes, meatloaf, and other comfort meals. The restaurant and women's restroom were clean and eating areas wiped clean immediately. If you're tired of fast food and impersonal eateries, check out this place.

If you're looking for a great local spot, with down home cookin fare and some great staff, this is the spot! We came here for dinner and couldn't wait to come back for breakfast! We ordered the chocolate shake (absolutely amazing), the special (it was a Turkey mashed potato platter), a burger and a big salad and all of us were happy with our choice. My burger was perfectly cooked and had fantastic flavor. The shake was so delicious and rich I was glad I ordered a burger with salty fries - it was the perfect combination. Absolute must visit spot!!!

We absolutely love this place for breakfast, however on our last visit we had breakfast in the afternoon and the difference was like night and day.. instead of the quality we had just two days before, we ordered our usual one egg over medium homefries with onions toast and bacon. In short bacon was black on one side, potatoes were undercooked and toast was cold. We will return, but only order breakfast in the morning!!!

I am invisible tonight. Nine minutes. Told four times that "someone will take your order." Nope. I am the only person sitting at the counter. Two open 4-tops. I moved to a table ... server arrived promptly. Loved the meatloaf sandwich and got a slice of pie carry-out.

Stopped at Schmucker's for lunch and was blown away! We loved this place. Everything for the old-time diner feel to the phone booth ringing with to go orders. People were lined out the door waiting to get their pies to go and booths to open up. The hot roast beef sandwich would melt in your mouth. The pies we got to go were amazing. I will definitely be back here someday. Highly recommend this place! A must see and do.

Diner food at its best--this is a must-stop in Toledo if you like this kind of food & feel! Meatloaf was fluffy and mouthwateringly savory. Breakfast burrito has the fluffiest eggs ever--quite a feat when the eggs are stuffed & rolled inside a tortilla! Best thing we ate, though, was the chocolate peanut butter pie. Again, crazy fluffy and was exactly the right flavor profile. We also had a chocolate peanut butter shake to which we asked to add bananas. Also fluffy and yummy!

OH MY GOODNESS WHAT A WONDERFUL DINER!! We stopped in while visiting Toledo and had just the best service! Our waitress was patient, helpful, and had a pleasant demeanor. The diner has that old school no frills vibe, and even has an old phone both in the back. My travel companion got a burger and fries that they enjoyed, while I got the hot roast beef sandwich served dinner style. So that means my meal came with a huge side salad, homemade chicken noodle soup with delicious thick noodles, a giant roast beef sandwich covered in brown gravy, AND I was hooked up with the potato trifecta! So mashed with gravy, fresh cut fries, and homefries! Seriously I was in a heavenly food coma with this meal and gobbled it down. (Well, there was a ton of food so I had to get to-go boxes and have a second dinner later that night in my hotel bed haha). Before we came in we looked at their website to see what pies were on special and their snickers pie was one we wanted in our bellies! However, when we arrived it was about an hour before closing and we were told that popular pie was sold out for the day. So instead we ordered slices of cherry and PB & chocolate pie. BUT, our server must be a foodie angel because she casually dropped a whole dang snickers pie on our table for us to take home and enjoy! When we got back home we split the pie and shared it with friends and family. Oh lordy, that thing was the best! I had to put my loved ones piece in the freezer to stop me from being tempted to eat it before I gave it to them. I wish I could remember our servers name, because she made our stop at Schmucker's a highlight during our first time exploring Toledo. I 100% recommend this place and highly encourage leaving big tips here.

The menu has a wide range of options to choose from We got the ham & greyere omelette and added spinach which was one of the best omelettes I've had. They used some very fresh avocados, it seems they used the whole avocado cause we surely weren't lacking. The biscuits and gravy were extremely good. There is something for everyone and all of it tastes great. I will say the chickichanga I had was a bit spicy but still really good. Also, you have to try the different drinks they have! I got the kale tonic and caramel crunch coffee, both AMAZING! Although if you're lactose intolerant I'd ask for dairy free milk and if you're not into sweet stuff this is probably not for you. I was a little disappointed in the waitress. She was super kind and personable but I felt like she didn't ask enough questions, like when I asked for the coffee she never asked what milk I wanted (I should've clarified but still). I also felt like she didn't show herself enough. It wasn't terribly busy so I felt she could've done better. Otherwise, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This truly a wonderful experience for all ages and varying tastes. A tremendous and welcome change we've come to endure from other dining experiences. Here the customer is THE primary focus from the moment you walk in til you walk out the door - BRAVO!! The food, had the Mayberry Mega where you pick your 6 omelette ingredients. Normally a crap shoot in most diners but here it was a home run. The ham and sausage were nice size chunks, juicy, and full of flavor. Spinach, onions, and tomatoes were fresh and perfect sizes and good quantities for the dish. That leaves the cheese my one "ding" would have preferred shredded cheese vs sliced cheese because of flavor and texture - but it didn't take away from a wonderfully prepared omelette made and severed with genuine care. Potatoes were frozen BUT they were prepared exceptionally well for dinner dare they were soft and cooked with a nice crisp. It was a superb surprise and a very welcome one. The coffee was fresh and hot and the standard "acidic" coffees you'd find in most diners anywhere, but overall inviting enough to have a few cups for a discerning coffee "snob" like me. Place was PACKED so all tables and booth were full, but they have a nice counter service with plenty of seating and space to move and eat and be very comfortable for your meal. What's fascinating is the incredible teamwork and collective desire to ensure your time, experience, and meal are spent enjoying your company and food not staring at your watch wondering about time. The entire restaurant was seated, served, and cleared with clean tables within the time I had to get and consume my own breakfast. So if you see a packed house on your arrival and don't desire that counter seat fear not - in this home environment your wait will be short and your day will lose no valuable time - well worth some minimal patience - you'll be glad you did. Your greeted as soon as you walk in by one or more of the extremely hardworking waitresses with a smile - your also sent off with a "Thank you. have a Good Day" by one more waitresses as you leave - both excellent touch of service class enhancing customer experience. I've never seen a more well-run diner or any restaurant from the waitresses to the cooks to the dishwashers the teamwork, attention to details, customer satisfaction, and to the incredible cleanliness of the restaurant despite the constant flow of customers - I've never seen a restaurant so clean and kept so clean the out the day. So what are you waiting for come to Mayberry where a warm greeting, clean home, exceptional food are calling YOUR name today...I'm returning perhaps I'll see you there....Bon Appetite!!

The fries were a bit better, lightly crisp flour-covered things, but again: kind of unexciting without ketchup. They were fine. The store's decor was mostly mom-n-pop nice, attractive and probably comfortable (I did takeout). The carpet was worn and maybe a bit grimy. I'm thinking that's because of the breakfast and lunch crowd the restaurant attracts, many of whom have been working hard at jobs that get their shoes dirty. No points off for that. The strawberry margarita was decent. Overall the experience was okay, not the best. I would give them another chance.

I was recently at the Secor Rd location with my mom for a late brunch. Our server was very friendly, nice and it was her second week on the job. From my prior experiences at the Central Rd Scramber's, I would order an omelette that came with potatoes, toast (which I always decline) and an additional side. It didn't occur to me that the Secor Rd Scrambler's franchise would be any different. I ordered my usual omelette with spinach, tomatoes and portobello mushrooms. When asked for my side, I selected the fresh fruit. I was asked for another side and ordered pancakes that I knew my mom would enjoy taking home. My mom ordered three eggs over easy with two sausage patties, pancakes and a fruit salad. While waiting for our orders to be prepared, it occurred to me that I wasn't asked about which potatoes I wanted. When our orders were served, I mentioned to our server that there weren't any potatoes. She said she would put in an order of potatoes and bring them out. There was no discussion about price. My mom enjoyed her meal and I enjoyed mine as well, except that I noticed there was far less spinach than usual. I didn't mention it to our server. The omelette was tasty; the fruit salad was fresh; and the potatoes that came later were plentiful and not greasy. For drinks, my mom ordered coffee and I ordered an Arnold Palmer (iced tea and lemonade). I finished my drink and wasn't offered a refill but also didn't ask. Since drinks these days run $3.99, usually the server would pretty promptly bring a refill without the need to ask. Since I realize our server was new, it wasn't a big deal. When the bill came, I was surprised to see the charge of approximately $43 before tip. In reviewing the bill, there was a charge of $4.99 for the potatoes that normally came as a side with an omelette. There was also an upcharge for the pancakes side. When I inquired about these unexpected charges, our server said she would discuss it with her manager. Upon returning, our server informed me that the manager agreed to take $1 off. To me, the $4.99 potatoes should have been comp'd as the usual omelette side. My mom didn't want me to make a fuss, so I just paid the bill but left feeling that it wasn't fair. Given that our server was new, I didn't blame her at all but did feel that the manager missed an opportunity to come out to speak with us and take more than $1 off the bill. While I might return to this Scrambler's due to its convenient location, I would be cognizant of the new charges for sides which would have otherwise been included in the brunch entree price. I also want other customers to be aware to ask the price of sides even if they are presented as part of the order. Food was overall good but the bill seemed overpriced and irked me.

We then ordered the French toast sandwich and the biscuits and gravy. I do want to clarify that the service was great, but I was not a fan of the gravy here. The biscuits were fresh and delicious, but the reason for my low star review was based on the dish I ate. We will for sure be returning and I'll be ordering a different menu item the next time.
