First time trying this place. It had what I thought was a good rating but I should have read the reviews. I ordered online and went to pick up the order. My problem was after picking up the food I sat to eat my food with my sisters. They both loved their dishes. One sister got the asada burrito and the other got the mole enchiladas. I ordered myself the chicken flautas. I was really disappointed to bite into the my first flauta and pull out a piece of thread? I'm not entirely sure what it was and my second disappointment was to find some type of pepper in the flautas with the chicken. As in the menu is states "chicken filling" not "chicken and pepper" filling or flour tortillas filled with chicken and poblano/bell pepper. I'm not to sure what type of pepper it was but I felt it was false advertisement. read more

We have been ordering the enchiladas suizas & shrimp fajitas for at least a decade. This last order was completely wrong: shrimp,chicken, & beef fajitas/ enchiladas suizas had some clumps of brown sauce inside with the chicken. Millie advised me next day, they will credit my card. 6 days passed & nothing. I ended up calling 3X asking for manager. I kept getting told she's away. I disputed the transaction with my card. Right after that, I get a voicemail from manager Jackie. It was pointless because Jackie responds by talking about their fresh ingredients which could turn the sauce into a different shade of color, etc., etc. People just apologize & not take accountability for their mistakes. I tell this person I live in the high desert now, but because I have been a loyal customer for at least the past decade, I still drive down the mountain (an hour away without traffic) to support their business. There is no customer service whatsoever. I believe in Karma & it definitely goes around. Because I filed a dispute after repeated attempts to resolve this with them, Jackie says, I can't do anything now that you filed it. It's laughable that this person has no customer service skills whatsoever. In time, you will fail your business. At this point, it's about the Principle of it, the $47.67 is inconsequential. That's another thing, Elvira's lost some loyal customers over their own mistake that they could have easily fixed - a ticket under $50. Max's Mexican Cuisine in Azusa has much better tasting dishes, excellent customer service, & the ambiance is lively. Try Max's of Azusa - the restaurant itself also is brighter & cleaner. I will be sure to pass this experience on to anyone I encounter. read more

I got the Salmon Cesar Salad and it was delicious! The fish was cooked perfectly and with the tortilla strips and bits of tomato in it it was really special. And the dressing was so yummy! The people were so nice, from the moment I arrived until the time I left. Service was great and although it was very busy the wait wasn't very long. Definitely would go again! read more

Now I'm from the south (New Orleans to be exact) so Mexican food is not my thing. This place right here spoke to my soul, the place made me feel at home and the energy of the staff made the food taste even better. It felt like they should get way more than 5 stars. It was well decorated and the atmosphere felt like I was siting right there in the owners house. My husband and I been talking about this place since we left. Food was delicious as usual. However, service can use some improvement. Our server was Veronica. Me and my finance (young couple) came to eat and our server was not friendly or as accommodating as she was with other tables. Made us feel like she was judging us for being younger as the crowd there is primarily elderly couples/people. Honestly, it's OK nothing over the top it doesn't stand out from any other Mexican restaurant I've been to. You'll see all the typical stuff and is pretty basic. It is a little too expensive for the quality of food you get again it isn't bad, but there are so many other Mexican restaurants I would prefer to visit especially for the first time. The service was OK. I did have to call my waitress over a few times considering the Restaurant is very small. You would think they would check on us a little bit more regularly. As for the scenery nothing spectacular just a basic Mexican restaurant. read more

My wife and I decided on having lunch today at Elvira's Mexican Grill (Upland)...she loves the "Grilled Chicken Fajita Salad" which is served up table side and I usually order their Burrito Supreme. Our service was excellent and it's always personable. The ambiance is typical style of a Mexican Catina. Cute and quaint. Incredible vibes, a lot of seating, friendly staff, and very fast service with large portions. However, i couldn't help but be disappointed by the food. It came out suspiciously fast and didn't taste fresh nor quality. We ordered shrimp ceviche which was tasty and we also ordered some combos which was very not great. The crispy taco was soggy, and the rice dry and beans hardened at the side. I felt like I was eating reheated leftovers. Chile relleno was also not fully warm (cheese inside was a hard block). I was referred to this restaurant and was amazed at the excellently prepared enchilada de pollo con mole sauce. I have been various parts of Mexico, especially to Oaxaca, Mexico and sampled the dozens of variations of mole. This restaurant provided this delicately prepared sauce to perfection! If you want to try REAL authentic tasting mole, this is the place. The waitress was pleasant and brought our group exactly what we wished to eat, brought extra spicy salsa and fresh tableside guacamole to our table. We've had a couple bad experiences recently with OTHER local Mexican restaurants. So this was a welcome experience. The special steak salad was so delicious. A large, tender, flavorful portion of quality carne asada on top of crisp romaine with a delicious Mexican Cesar dressing. The carne asada burrito was a hit too.
