And you bleed just to know you're alive Al Pastor Fries from #AlPastorTaqueria
    Mojo S.

One thing I always liked about Tops and their chili cheese fries is how they always made the box feel full. They would make the small filled to the brim with all the chili cheesy goodness, and the large would just be more of the same so the box would be in danger of toppling over the edge with all of the messy mountain of food. It always seemed worth it because just by looking at it you could tell it was a good amount of food. I wanted to like the Al Pastor fries in the same way. The meat itself was impeccable, with every bite being chock full of pork meat. I think the main problem was it that it needed more fries. You would think the fries would be the easiest to load up a dish like this with, but the layer of fries at the bottom of this container was kind of the thin side. And that led into the next problem, where every bite seemed overflowing with onions. Sauces, cilantro, and meat all were fairly represented. But because there wasn't an appropriate amount of fries, and because the onions were so fresh and strong, that's what I got most of in every bite. It was so bad my eyes were watering from just breathing. And because the proportions were so off, I just don't think this offering is worth the $15 it's priced at. If there was more fries, not only would it have been more filling but all the competing flavors would've blended better. As it is now, I think this is maybe an $11 dish that you might ask for some extra fries to be thrown to get the balance right. The service was good. The employee behind the register explained well what came with the fries and the order got to me pretty fast. The ambience was good, but the space was kind of limited. I wish the dining area was just a bit bigger. I've also never been a fan of food joints without a soda dispenser. Paying $3 for each bottle of Coke is not my idea of inviting. It has the mystique of over-priced concessions at a sporting event. Places that want you there invest in having free refills on soda instead of forcing their patrons to pay for multiple bottles or else go thirsty. As it is, I don't think I'll be back. The pastor is good and I had wanted to try the pastor burrito, but this visit was lackluster so I don't see myself in any hurry to make another trip here.

I've had this place bookmarked forever and finally found myself on this side of town, somewhere I rarely go. So glad I made the trip. I walked in on a Friday evening and was surprised there was no line. I was immediately greeted by a woman who took my order, great service from the start. The two women working were doing everything themselves, from taking orders to making the food fresh, and still kept things moving at a very reasonable pace. I ordered the shrimp burrito with light rice and got the chipotle sauce on the side. They also have a CLEAN self serve bar with salsas, cucumbers, and limes, which is always a nice touch. The burrito was huge and so good. My plan was to eat half in the car and save the rest for later... but I ended up sitting in the parking lot and finishing the whole thing. Every bite had perfectly seasoned shrimp, no skimping at all. The interior is clean, minimal, and has plenty of seating. 10/10, definitely recommend.

A gem! We stopped by for the first time on a whim and fell in love. The service is so friendly and warm, that when we were invited to sit and eat instead of taking it to go, we immediately said yes! I got a battered fish quesitaco, potato taco, and bean and cheese burrito. All of it was extremely flavorful, made fresh, and the salsa was great. When one of my tortillas wasn't exactly the order, they even proactively sent a fresh warm cheese tortilla even though I didn't realize the difference! We will definitely add this into our regularly rotation.

I bought a carne asada taco and a Al Pastor burrito. The taco was okay, the corn tortilla was made in house, which was tasty but the meat was slightly chewy and not seasoned enough. The burrito was good, it had good flavor and was plentiful and the tortilla was good.

Small casual modern taqueria located not far off the freeway in Montclair. I think I bookmarked them because I saw them on my feeds and their burritos or special items look pretty amazing. I went here specifically for some al pastor tacos on National Taco Day after work, haha. As soon as I came in, I was greeted by some of the friendliest folks. It was an a bit of the later side of a weeknight so I was able to order right away. I got the two taco combo with al pastor, which came with rice and beans and I can't remember if the beverage was included or if I ordered that in addition. They make their tortillas in house so it has that thicker texture and the flavors of the tortilla and the meat were great. The beans and rice were solid and so was the horchata. As far as fast casual taquerias, this place is great. Definitely want to come back and try one of the more insane looking creations they have to offer. Plus, it seemed to have plenty of parking right out front when I was there.

Huge shoutout to Al Pastor and the team! They took amazing care of us during our lunch break from construction. The hospitality was on point, and we were blessed with complimentary bean tacos that hit the spot. The service was fast, the food was delicious, and the overall vibe made us feel right at home. We truly appreciate the love and support -- highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

Had this for take out dinner the other day and it was so yummy. The quality of meat made a difference in these tacos 100%. They also make their own corn tortillas!! They have such a good variety of sauces and salsas, love the heat of these. To eat we had the al pastor, carne asada, shrimp, and crispy potato tacos + rice and beans. My surprising favorite was the crispy potato taco... I am still thinking about it.

Stumbled aross Al Pastor Taqueria, and decided to grab a quick bite to eat. The restaurant was very clean and was immediately welcomed with a smile when I walked in the door! They had a variety of different dishes with different proteins. I asked the kind chef what her favorite à la carte tacos were and she highly recommended their shrimp tacos and boy was she right! The shrimp tacos were cooked and prepared to perfection! Although I don't have all the fixings on my tacos due to preference, I very much enjoyed these! I'm so happy that I tried this place out, and I can't wait to come back to try more of their menu! Thank you!!

Aye ya, sometimes I think that TikTok overhypes things! I have seen this all over social media so maybe that's my fault to get excited before I taste myself. Just got a carne Asada burrito to share with a friend since we wanted something sweet. My friend kept saying there's not that much meat for $15 maybe your half has more. By time I tried mine and I felt same as her not enough meat. The beans were tasty I liked the flavor of those. Too skimpy on meat. The staff were friendly and efficient. Inside was small cute and clean. Overall it was a cute little place. I would like to come back and try again to see if something else catches my taste buds.

Then I realized I pass it pretty often when leaving work, so when I was in the area with my family, we decided to finally stop in. The place looked pretty run-down when we walked in, and unfortunately the first impression didn't get much better. The person taking our order wasn't particularly welcoming or service-forward, and the table we sat at was noticeably sticky. While we were waiting, a friend of the owners came in and was loudly dropping plenty of profanity, which seemed to be perfectly welcome. Meanwhile, the same person who took our order was now in the back preparing our food. We tried the crunchy homestyle hard-shell tacos that seem to be the big thing online, along with a couple of street tacos. The food itself wasn't terrible. It was definitely on the greasy side, but there was some flavor there. I just wouldn't describe it as particularly authentic or something I would go out of my way for. For me, the bigger issue was the overall experience. The condition of the restaurant, the cleanliness of the table, and the general lack of attention to the customer experience all added up. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but based on this visit, I wouldn't go back or recommend it.

But some shady charges or maybe we'll call it miscommunication just rubbed me the wrong way. I always order the mole chicken enchiladas and my wife (being vegetarian) asks for the same dish but if the enchiladas can be vegetable or cheese. Apparently this means a 8$ up charge? We've done this many times in the past and always been charged the same price for both. I asked the server at the end "the veggie version is 8$ more expensive than chicken?" And he just shrugged and said yes. Just found it interesting that a meat dish would be 8$ less than a purely cheese/veggie dish. Especially since done this in the past with no issue. I also asked for "hot sauce" for my dish. They brought out a spicier house salsa as the hot sauce...totally understandable and the salsa here is usually free. Apparently it's a 4$ "chipotle sauce" that the waiter did not inform me would be charged. I would've easily just said I want tapatio or no "hot sauce". I used maybe a teaspoon for 4$. I told the waiter this when we questioned the bill and he just shrugged. These may seem like small inconveniences but when they seem like they intentionally don't tell you the details and then when called out about it just kinda shrug it off, it was a disappointing end to an otherwise tasty dinner. We love it here and will certainly be back but it just sucks that I have to be extra cautious & skeptical when ordering from now on.
