We've been here three times in the last 4 weeks. Our first time was a Saturday and we ordered 6 chicken tacos and a chicken burrito. At first they reminded me of my favorite taco spot in Los Angeles. They have good flavor and the wait time wasn't long. It comes with a choice of sauces (I stick to salsa verde and avocado salsa). Hubby said the burrito was really good and he's tried a few places in Charlotte. Then, we went back twice for Taco Tuesday to get their $1.50 tacos. The first time we ordered 12 chicken tacos. This time we noticed a cartilage piece in like 2 of the tacos. The chicken was also different from that first experience (shredded chicken). The next time, we got 12 tacos but hubby tried some variety. We got 8 chicken, 2 asada, and 2 el pastor and a container of rice. This time the chicken tacos had way more cartilage, like a piece in every taco. Walked in with my boyfriend for lunch today. We've been wanting to try this place since moving to Charlotte and we weren't disappointed. This restaurant is for the real foodies. They serve tacos, quesadillas, burritos, tortas and they have combo plates. Not to mention, they have an array of meats you can buy by the pound so you can cook it up at home. I had the chicken burrito (basic I know) but I saw them making one right in front of me and I had to try. Inside the burrito: rice, chicken, pico, cheese and beans. The tables are shared tables. I am Asian and not native to the system. I walk up to the meat counter and ordered a pound each of barbacoa and carnitas. I wasn't informed that it came mixed with other body parts. After receiving a ticket, I waited in line to pay for the food. When I showed up in front of the cashier ready to pay, she called out something in Spanish and pretended that she didn't see me. I am obviously lost on what I'm supposed to be doing at this moment, but she proceeded to check out another customer in front of me. There was quite a crowd there on a Friday evening, but thankfully, a decent human being (a customer waiting in line) told me that she'll call the number on the ticket to ring up. Be sure to revisit your Spanish numbers to remind yourself of what number to expect. When my number was called in Spanish, I went up to pay and also ordered a lb of corn tortillas and their hot sauce. The store felt like chaos with so many people getting food after work. The lack of directions in English made it even more complicated to navigate. Aside from the negative customer service, the meats that we received were really dry as well as combined with other body parts that weren't exactly to our liking (snout pieces and etc). The tortillas on the other hand look perfectly uniform, so much that they might just be the store-bought versions warmed up. The hot sauces were good and spicy. These were ok in tacos, but better as a queso dip because the dryness of the meats didn't affect the texture. He's also opening a restaurant in a different state so he knows the business. This is authentic as you can get in Charlotte. My daughter is 12, my son is 3. I could have had a steak dinner for that amount. Not going to argue the point and I pay the bill.
