I am extremely disappointed with the gate experience at this location. I came specifically to the retail shop at Pure Watersports to make a payment and pick up some items. When I used the "press for assistance" button at the pay station, I spoke with a female employee with a heavy accent who was incredibly aggressive and combative. Despite explaining that I was only visiting the retail shop for a brief moment to support a small business on the property, she rudely insisted that I had to pay the $18 parking fee just to access the shop. Her hostile behavior was completely unnecessary and reflects poorly on the businesses located here. Because she refused to let me through, I was forced to park in the structure at the end of the block. This was a major inconvenience, as I then had to carry bulky retail items all the way back to the structure. I hope the management addresses this specific individual's behavior; $18 is a lot to ask of a customer who is just trying to stop in for a quick retail transaction. read more

I have had a bussiness in the harbor for 30 plus years and never had to deal with such a rude employee, her name is Connie, she makes people back up at the gate with trailers behind people 5 deep, and takes forever To answer the speaker I have known employee's there for a long time and not one them likes her, she needs to be more like T the other women that works there everyone loves her, dont know what Connies position is? Reviewer that mentioned this parking lot is not designed for trailers anymore is 100% correct. I parked for only a few hours. Pumped up my inflatable and thought I spend the $15 and go off a proper boat launch even though I could have just went to the west end with the free parking and launch from the beach. I've been parking at the free side for 10+ years without issue. Can't believe someone would hit my bumper that hard with their trailer and just drive off. What a POS. Today was the first and last time I am going to the boat launch. Thought they would have some security camera to monitor that small parking lot, but nothing. Zero help sadly. All good Karma has their way of sorting these things out. Hopefully this helps someone else avoid a parking space where a poor driver will back their trailer into you. read more

Absolutely loooove Miss T in the office. Everyone that works here is amazing and goes out of the way to go above and beyond to be helpful. My complaint however is out of their hands and has nothing to do with them or their performance. The new management that took over this marina apparently just sees dollar signs and got rid of half of the parking lot. So there is NOT nearly as much parking as there used to be.The boat wash has been moved and are now 25 cents a minute or something ridiculous like that. The Boat wash was free before. You even have to pay to wash your boat if you are a renter and keep your boat at the Marina. Makes no sense. Should be included in the premium price already being paid. There should be a rack in the back for members only. Things need to change. For the better. The only thing That doesn't need to change is the amazing office staff and maintenance workers. read more

Just launch boat yesterday from this location,everything smooth and easy, only 10$ ticket. Open 24hr. Came here on Sunday and not much traffic. Lots of parking + launching docks. Quick access from marina to ocean. Recommend and for sure I'm back. read more

Stay far away from this marina if you're considering dry-storage of your boat. We have kept our boat there for over 10 years. It wasn't until the marina kept changing hands with inept management, followed by new ownership that is slowly destroying what once was a decent Marina. They have not only raised prices significantly, but have eliminated services, removed the majority of available parking to further make money from non-marina parking. Also, they have slowly eliminated the majority of boat wash-outs, and made them few remaining wash-outs pin-operated ($0.25 per minute of water). The management will quickly try to provide invalid excuses, when in reality it's only to make more money. They will also force you to name them on your insurance policy. We will be moving our boat out ASAP! Please be very cautious of dealing with this corrupt marina!!!! read more

Look else where if you have half a brain. The Dana Point Boat Launch does not have a rest room available after hours. For all the money, rule changes ad discriminatory practices you will think twice about making this your marina of choice. I have stored my boat here for two years and it has been a constant hassle., I vote conservative and the personnel here do everything to harass and annoy me because of my political views. My boat has been vandalized multiple times. they obstruct my movement and allow others to harass me while I am detailing my boat. It is sport for them. The first month I was a paying member I had caught people vandalizing boats. There were 19 lights vandalized out of 31 lights. They parking lot surface was a disaster. A county audit verified that the management had not been doing the job and that some boat owners only paid a one time launch fee and had stored their boat in the launch area parking for months at a time. Now the county is trying to make up for that. New rules include no heavy maintenance in the marina area. But that depends on who you know. I have witnessed multiple total engine rebuilds in the parking lot without enforcement of marina rules. Me on the other hand, have a full time enforcement team at my heels and the rules are applied with malice. Beware of what you wish for. read more

Stay away on weekends. New day use boat trailer parking is ridiculous. You cannot park a truck with a trailer on week ends with the new updated parking configuration. They have removed half the boater parking and now use it $$ car parking. read more

My boat stays here only because of convenience. I give 2 stars for location and office helpers. I would give no stars for the office manager who is rude and her customer service is a 0 out of 10! The other office staff is actually terrific but the yard help is meh at best. If you have other viable options I would go elsewhere but if this is the only option like it is for me...don't expect a warm and fuzzy customer experience. read more

It's been over a decade since I'd last sailed and ended up Renting a 14ft Lido. I knew I was going to be quite rusty, but it could have been even worse had it not been for the help Quentin(I think his name was) gave me. After getting out of the launch area (and not without some more than close calls) I was able to get back in the swing of things and really enjoy myself. On top of the help I got on the dock, the lady in the office didn't charge me the full 2 hours I'm almost certain I had been out. This experience has made me feel a lot more confident about going back out on the water, in fact I can't wait for my next chance to come back! read more

I didn't rent from here yet, but we have a boat in the dry storage and are there a lot and I've been watching people renting kayaks and jet skis here so I went by to ask the guy who is always there about the prices and all I can say is they must have somewhere on the application that requires you to be a real jerk to work there. They are lucky they are the only place right here because they wouldn't have any business based on his personality. And I can tell that's just how he is because I've watched how he's acted with other people as well. Oh well, I'll just find somewhere else to rent from. read more

My family wanted to go out sailing for a day to celebrate my fathers bday. We rented the 22' Capri. Everyone that worked there was extraordinarily nice and helpful. The people in the office were very friendly and the dock hands were super nice too. We're experienced sailors from the east coast and think the boats were decent. They are rentals, so they weren't super high tech and fancy, but they were clean, handled well and got the job done. We had good wind that day, got the boat trimmed nice and we had some good speed. We will definitely rent from here again. $175 for the whole day, it's a total bargain. One thing I will mention is that there is no bathroom on board. Not a huge deal, you can always come back to the dock and use the restroom they have. read more

We chartered a 22 ft Capri for some sailing recently, and were very happy with the marina. The ladies are super nice and helpful in the office, the facilities are clean, the price is very reasonable ($60 an hour, 10 for every 15 minutes after that.) I was prepared to see a beat up old boat, but their sailboats are in pristine condition. There's a guy to help familiarize you with everything. It's a little hairy getting in and out of the harbor because there's quite a bit of traffic and it's small. There's a kayak rental outfit next door and people park themselves right in the middle of boating lanes. Helloooo. Be sure you know what you're doing, or you can charter a bigger boat with a captain from Dick Simon's. Would definitely recommend it. read more

3 months ago, I paid a deposit to this place so I could be put on their boat storage waiting list. After about a month, I received a call from a really sweet girl stating a spot had come available. A couple days later I drove my 26 ft. fishing boat to the storage yard. I spoke to an employee named BLANE, BLANE told me to park along side the curb so someone could measure my boat / trailer. Apparently I parked along the wrong curb because BLANE walked over to me in a belligerent demeanor yelling and flaring his arms saying that I parked by the wrong curb and because of that I had shut down his entire operation??? I guess he should have been more specific about what curb I was supposed to park by. BTW, I did not block the entry like he claimed. All I had to do was drive forward a few feet. This just gets better.......... After trailering my boat for 2 hours down the 5 FWY, BLANE informed me that my boat was either 4 or 6 inches to long to keep it stored @ the Embarcadero Marina. "Unbelievable". I then told BLANE to reimburse me my deposit immediately. BLANE emailed me a week later and asked me what I wanted him to do with my deposit...Really???? For the 2nd time, I told BLANE to mail me my check. BLANE then advised me that since it was now the beginning of a new month, that he couldn't mail out my check until the end of the month, "company policy"???? Again, I say unbelievable!!!!!!! I RECOMMEND NOT TO STORE YOUR BOAT HERE!!!!!!! Oh yeah, I heard that during the upcoming remodel that all of the boats stored @ the Embarcadero Marina are going to be moved about a mile away and stored on a dirt lot.
