This place is a marina of last resort. Horrible slips: plywood over 50+ year old concrete slabs. They're listing and twisted. Small cleats so don't come here in a storm as you'll probably tear them from the plywood. The bathrooms are disgusting. One of three showers didn't have a shower head. The other two were just tolerable. Definitely bring shower sandals if not swim boots. All in all, this marina is not worth the price being charged. I thought Dana Point was upscale, but this marina needs to be shut down and renovated. read more

I went to the marina for the first time last weekend. Talk about Heaven on Earth! The parking was super easy. I sashayed down to the dock and watched boats come in and out while I waited for my friends. They have a bunch of rentals, and many people use their own boats. The water is surprisingly clean and clear. I sat in the sunshine, my feet in the water, playing with people's dogs, and yelling, "A'hoy!" It was pretty damn awesome. When my friends showed up, we loaded up onto the boat and made our way out. It was such a beautiful day. Perfect sailing weather. After about 5 hours we made our way back, and the staff helped us dock. Those guys are super cool. All the staff we encountered were totally laid back and friendly. I just love this place and the individuals in the office who are always so cheerful and helpful whenever I call on the phone or visit their office . We have had our boat docked here for 5+ years because it has been such a pleasant experience . I must say the people have a lot to do with it . I appreciate nice genuine people , and thats exactly who you come in contact with here . Not just this office but in the office where I launched our sea Doo yesterday . So I just want to say thank you to Angie at the marina office and I unfortunately don't think I caught the women's name who helped me out in the office where I launched but thank you as well . These heifers have their snout so deep in the trough they don't realize how arrogant, cocky, snotty they come across to customers. If you're a long term favorite they seem to favor you and treat you like.a VIP but plan to be discriminated against if you're anything besides a 50+ year old white straight dude who they feel is "local", then the rules will be bent and smiles a plenty when you're doing business with them. If you're not in the above category plan to get a weird attitude and be treated like an outsider. The office is a den a of bloated staff, with a piss poor attitude and a pseudo-DMV atmosphere. I don't yet know exactly how they and the office have the authority it has, but I will. As a taxpayer, boater and civic activist, I request full disclosure on whatever sweetheart deal they have with the County. Makes me wonder exactly how this deal is structured where their office is given unrestricted authority over County assets, unfettered collection of cash and indiscriminate control of the "clients", who are treated more like an interruption of their business - rather than the purpose of it! This is one name they use in business; "2001 DANA POINT MARINA COMPANY" East Basin Marina It'd be interesting to know exactly what kind of organization this is. How is it organized under California law? Is it a private company? Privately held? Limited Liability Company? C or S Corporation? Non-profit? Also, I'd like to know what document gives them the authority to collect money for rental of County of Orange property, and what role the County plays in oversight and decision making in this relationship. I'd also like to know the term of any agreement, and when they come up for renewal, who votes on the renewal and how, at what hearing can the public be heard concerning same. I also want to be clear that this office has discriminated against me since day one. The staff talks down to me and has harassed me, singled me out for haphazard enforcements and wild accusations since my first contact with the staff in the front office. Their attitude is vapid and completely inappropriate for a service based organization. The culture of this office is very clear - that from the TOP~DOWN - everyone there feels like they are doing the CUSTOMER A FAVOR taking their money, instead of the other way around. There is a palpable toxicity in the office and every single interaction I ever had with this organization was uncomfortable and left me feeling sick. The staff telephone manners are terrible. Their perspective is very clear and I was looked down upon and mistreated from the very first interaction. I have been exceedingly cooperative and followed their ridiculously one-sided legally unforceable "contract". It is the very definiation of a contract of adhesion. It creates numerous "catch-22" situtations and the information I received from agents and employees in this office has directly conflicted with the terms they selectively choose to enforce within the "agreement". I had to bend over backwards with their constant barrage of harassment and bothersome hoops they singled me out on. The office had it out for me from day one. They clearly hated the fact that my boat is titled in a constitutionally allowed California corporation, duly formed and legal for all purposes. The status of my entity was completely ignored and overlooked by the staff and the full weight of the law was levied upon me, by leveraging the mass of governement, I was pummeled into submission, with statements from your staff the I was bound by the County of Orange and that the County of Orange required that my Corporate entity be disregarded. Government shall not abridge a citizen's rights, and this unilateral disregard of a duly formed entity, used under the laws of the United States is a breach of my basic rights. In 1818, the United States Supreme Court decided Trustees of Dartmouth College v. Woodward - 17 U.S. 518 (1819), writing: "The opinion of the Court, after mature deliberation, is that this corporate charter is a contract, the obligation of which cannot be impaired without violating the Constitution of the United States. The U.S. Supreme Court has continuously recognized corporations as having the same rights as natural persons to contract and to enforce contracts. Yet, I was told numerous times. under the color of law, under the command of the County of Orange, that the Corp established for the 45' boat was going to be simply ignored. They're so disorganized and distracted they can't even manage the events properly throughout the year. Their crowd control, parking enforcement, bathroom management, event organization is atrocious. Bathrooms are not kept up and are always filthy - and on busy days like 4th of July they are bad enough to be condemned. Sue has the ability to remember details and keep information straight; she is a blessing of support. My husband and I have been boaters for 35 years; one of our best experiences is our stay at the Dana Point Marina Company Guest Docks, Our walks, restaurants, shops, canvas service, marine repairs from haul out to bottom cleaning were part of a great experience with the pleasure of meeting many fine people along the way.
