This a lovely hotel. It is centrally located in Anchorage. I think it is a bit expensive, but since it was part of our tour package, I do not know. It was quite crowded in the lobby with several tour groups coming in. The room was very spacious. I was frustrated by the thermostat as wanted to make the room temp cooler. I could not get it to change. There was also no safety grab bar in the shower, and the toilets should be updated to the higher models. Many tour groups are older adults so grab bars and higher toilets seem safer and logical. read more

We stayed here as part of our tour. The hotel is nice and within just a few blocks of about everything in Anchorage. The rooms are spacious and with a lot of outlets for all the electronics to get charged. The rooms look nice, the hallways look a bit outdated. read more

Nice comfortable rooms. One of the 4 elevators is not working. They have 2 restraunts in the building. We are going to use some from downtown. All of the employees have been helpful. The will hold luggage for late flights. Just come back and pick it up on the way to the airport. read more

The guy at the counter is rude for some reason he thinks he's above the guest . We order room service my bowl I got was 45 dollars that's fine I know that before ordering it the problem is there was nothing in the bowl literally four pieces of meat I thought it was a prank no noodles no rice nothing. I was so mad between the guy at the front counter and that bowl I said screw it and just left the bowl on the room table. I'd be ashamed if I were the kitchen cook or and manager. Just for reference the room is 500 a night we know all this going in the rooms beautiful and clean. The complaints are with the kitchen whoever let that 50 dollar bowl of shit go out and the guy at the counter that thinks he's above the guest which is really odd. read more

Ouch, what a letdown. This was the last hotel night of our post cruise adventure with Silversea. Silversea had warned us that some of the hotels we would stay at would possibly have service issues, but we did not expect that in Anchorage. First, the room was fine with a comfortable bed, but we had issues with the restaurant, front desk staff, luggage/bell staff and the morning breakfast. Note, most if not all of the labor seemed to be from another country and many only had 1-2 weeks experience at the hotel. Marriott needs to do better with training. We were tired and had dinner in the hotel, a mistake. Terribly overpriced and the worst piece of fish I had on the entire trip. Fried cauliflower appetizer was awful and everything was brought at once rather than being properly coursed. The final craziness came when we put two credit cards down, as we were two couples, and were told it was impossible to do. The manager confirmed that their computer does not allow it. Wow! In the morning, we were to have breakfast in a special room catered by SIlversea. We had printed confirmation that breakfast would begin at 6am. We had an early flight. To our surprise, nothing was ready when we arrived at 6:30. We inquired at the front desk, and was told we were mistaken and food would not be ready until 7. Our bus would depart at 7, so that would not work. I asked if we could eat in the restaurant buffet instead and was told no. No help from the staff or Marriott. After a fantastic pre cruise in Vancouver and a wonderful cruise and post cruise, this last hotel stop was the worst part of our 2 week Alaska journey. It actually pains me to write this review for a brand that I love and that I am loyal to. I do business with them often and vacation with mariott as my personal preference. So to be clear this just for the Anchorage Alaska location. I am going to preface this with I understand there are policies and procedures and that my status with the chain does not guarantee me certain perks. But as any ordinary guest. there is a standard of care that is expected especially from a full service marriott. Here is where the Anchorage location fell short: 1) There was no room service Menu in the room. Upon calling room service, I asked if there was a menu available we could select from. They didn't know and put me on hold for 10 minutes so I hung up and went downstairs to eat. Its a yes or no question. 2) they have a computer avaialble for travelers to check email and print boarding passes. The printer was out of paper and I went to the desk to ask for paper and the first person acted like they didn't know if they could give me paper. Finally one person recognized this and gave me a few sheets. It should not have Been that difficult. I called the bonvoy elite line and even they agreed this was ridiculous and offered to create an incident number. 3) My room was booked by a third party as I was on a cruise. So I understand that I would not get elite night credits or points as the reservation is under the cruise. But I communicated my status and can show proof that I have platinum elite status and asked if I could get into the platinum lounge because this where I get a snack and bottle water to take my medication. Usually at the least, at check in they supply members with a complimentary bottle water or have one in the room. No such luck (I understood there was a chance they would say no). But its not impossible. I travel with marriott for business and often under third party bookings or block reservation rooms at other properties and its never been a problem till this property. 4) the toilet paper is comically too far from the toilet, you have get up to grab a sheet of paper or be that long stretchy arm guy from the fantastic 4. (See picture). 5) i watched the elevator doors hit a guest and almost hit another. The elevator doors are fast and close quickly. I had to ask one person if she was ok. The saving grace was the restaurant staff were a joy and executed their job well so I didn't provide a single star rating. Do better Anchorage marriott on at least the first two things. When I do have to travel to Alaska in the future, I will think twice about revisiting this property. I don't know if the manager will contact me. But I would like to give feedback at the end of my stay. read more

After 2 weeks away from home, sleeping on a cruise ship and Alaskan lodges, the Marriott Anchorage was the perfect way to end my trip. The room was very large, updated and comfortable. The shower was wonderful with a rain shower-head. The view from my room was lovely and I was able to see the water! The best thing about the room was the bed. It was big and fluffy! I sunk into it like a cloud and slept so well. My only recommendation for improvement is paint touch ups that were needed in the room and bathroom. I would highly recommend the Marriott Anchorage! read more

We stayed at the Marriott Anchorage Downtown for 3 nights total, 2 before our ABD tour and one after. All in all, it was a good stay. The hotel is a solid 3 star hotel, with the rooms being very clean and comfortable, and the staff was very polite. We slept well during our stay and the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Downtown is walkable from the hotel and there are many restaurants and shopping places nearby. The breakfast buffet was good and included an omlette station. The waitstaff was very pleasant and brought coffee and juice as requested. The buffet items were refilled frequently. The cons.... When we arrived both before and after our ABD tour, there was some confusion. The first night, the manager had our keys ready for us as part of our tour group arrived at 10pm, but didn't have any information about breakfast vouchers. Luckily, a member of our tour group was well versed in ABD tours and talked with the manager until our breakfast vouchers were located. No bottled water in the room. Bottled water was like $5-6 to purchase. They did have carafes of cucumber/lemon water in the lobby, and we simply filled up empty bottles from there, but feel bad doing so. The hotel should provide free bottled water. Finally, our finally night which was an "extra" night booked through ABD, the hotel had no record of us being booked. Since it was booked through Disney, we had to contact ABD to get this straightened out. We were tired and just wanted to relax and have a place to freshen up. It took about 45 minutes of back and forth with our adventure guides (Disney) and the hotel to get this fixed. Tammy, the manager at Marriott, was very pleasant during this process. Also, Be aware that there is A LOT of cruise and tour traffic at this hotel, so it can be chaotic at times. I would recommend this hotel. It's clean and in a good location with well-appointed rooms and friendly staff. read more

First, I want to give credit to all the employees that we interacted with. They were uniformly nice and supportive. That being said, there were some issues with the hotel. We were missing towels when we got in the room and the toilet was plugged. We had to ask twice before these issues were resolved. We were on the concierge level and the PC there was inoperable. The PC on the ground floor could only be used to print boarding passes. We needed proof of vaccination forms printed and we couldn't do that. The food provided for breakfast was fine but the evening snack was pretty meager. Plus $8.50 for a Coors Light is crazy. Our room was updated and was just fine. The view was outstanding. read more

Ok. The good - the room was decent The bad - maybe it's the preponderance of J1 Visa slave labor staffing the hotel. or maybe it's cheap ownership or maybe both - but I've stayed in better Holiday Inn Expresses. The restaurant food was awful. For a hotel that can cost 400 plus a night, the expectation is that the restaurant serves decent food. Instead we got salad from a bag, stale croutons and chips and chowder that was so thin that it could be described as warm milk. Plus there was no seafood in the seafood chowder. And, it was very unwelcoming with its velvet rope stanchion warding off anyone who might wander past the 'please wait yo be seated' sign. Breakfast was similar. And the lounge on the 30th floor served old mozzarella sticks that had been sitting there for probably hours. The cheese had been sitting long enough to be stale and sweaty. If this is how a hotel feeds its elite guests, I pity the person who travels occasionally. Eat here if you're looking to poison the person you're with. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived. It was well past the check in time. The ATM was out of order. The pantry has lots of ice cream, but no food except Cup of Noodles A top hotel dies not usually serve starving grad students. Don't stay here. Anchorage has plenty of decent choices. This is not one of them. read more

When we need a get away living in Alaska Judy & I come here to recharge! This Marriott has 1 of 3 heated salt water swimming pools in the state! So definitely pack a bathing suit and flip flops! Ask the front dest to have a couple robes sent up to your room too! There is a full service bar on the first floor too so grab a cocktail in a plastic cup and head to the pool! We ask for a King Room with a View and if you choose the high floors like a 1404 which we just stayed in or 1604 we've stayed in that one too before you can get Cook Inlet views and watch planes taking off from Ted Steven's Airport from your high window! This was just a 1 night Birthday Getaway. With great restaurants all within walking distance this place would be my choice if I didn't live in Anchorage and had to choose a nice hotel. Room service is great too Eggs Benedict my favorite. If you're Gold Elite status you can Access the Top Floor Bar with free drinks and appetizers. We could have but skipped that this time. read more

The hotel is very close to the convention center and downtown hotspots. Check-in was fast and easy. The room was pretty roomy and I had a great view of the water (Knik Arm?) and Mount Susitna (Sleeping Lady). The bathroom was fine. Everything was good except the walls are paper thin! Each morning the person next door made noises (speaker phone, coughing, singing) before 5am. It woke me up and I am not a light sleeper. Once I was up, I was up. I'm annoyed ai am not getting enough sleep this week but there's not a whole lot you can do. I can try earplugs tonight. So disappointing. The guy working the concierge lounge at breakfast was awesome. He made sure everything was available and was very nice. Quickly got other guests and me silverware and stuff, wasn't expecting that. read more

Not a good vibe, they use the cheap J1 foreign workers as the hotel won't pay for native Alaskans, this cost savings can also be seen in the thin walls (enjoy hearing your neighbors honeymoon) and doors that need to be slammed to shut. read more

I have stayed here 2 times in the last few weeks. Both times at check in I worked with Angela, this last time she remembered me from the first visit. She is friendly, fast and a great representative of the Marriott Brand. Keep up the great work Angela. The hotel is nice, comfortable and clean. It is located close to several restaurants downtown. Heaven forbid you have a billing issue with this hotel - they will just make a reason up. Opened a billing dispute on 5/10/24. Now 6/4/24 stating that the double charge was for an early departure at the Anchorage Marriott. The Anchorage accounting department had a month to look into this and that was the justification for the double billing. The funny thing is I said in my initial email to my ambassador that I had extended my original stay by a day and it looked like they double billed me for the additional day. That tells me they didn't look at anything and just came up with a sorry excuse to get me out of their hair. I've been with Marriott since around 2013. I have had lifetime platinum, been titanium for most my time with them, and finally made Ambassador this year. I was dumb to be loyal to them for so long, I'm off to Hilton. Before I do, time to salt the earth on my way out. I'm going to post this on any review site that matters and copy corporate on my way out. Thanks a bunch Anchorage Marriott Back-office!! Restaurant/bar service is terrible. Busy day, but plenty of servers and bar tenders...but they couldn't pull it together. Several issues over an extended period while we waited for rooms to be ready. One server even delivered one drink, but didn't know what it was or who it was for and then our original server came to apologize that the other drink wasn't delivered because she didn't understand the order. Service was top notch and rooms have new furniture update with super comfy beds. Only down side is no in room safe for us. Bonvoy members breakfast is full English breakfast and then some on the top floor with great views from 6am to 10am. Afternoon snacks (they charge for alcohol) good too from 5pm to 10pm. read more

Comfortable and clean rooms. The location is convenient to the nearby restaurants and bars. Most everything is within walking distance.

First, the good. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. Now the rest. I know they have to take what they can find in employees, but a rudimentary ability to speak English would be nice. One server couldn't understand the most basic of requests and had to get help. The velvet rope barrier to the lounge, staffed by an indifferent young woman, was offputting. The only breakfast option was a sort of passable buffet for $24. Save your money and walk two blocks to the very friendly Horizon Cafe and the coffee shop in the Conoco Phillps building. Our travel agent said the Marriott costs about twice the other Anchorage hotels. We chose it because of the brand, but probably would not do it again. The staff was not what we've come to expect at Marriott properties. Two bits of advice about Anchorage. We had great Ubers and one very bad cab ride. Take Uber. The two-hour Red Trolley tour is worth it. read more

From the moment I walked in the entire staff was so friendly and treated me so well! The GM was at the front desk and upgraded me to the top floor with concierge privileges. I really can't describe how great the staff is. The room is beautiful and immaculately clean with a view of downtown and the snow capped mountains. Very nice hotel. I was concerned because some of the photos and review showed dated rooms. My room on the 18th floor was updated. The restaurant food is good and the free hot chocolate in the lobby was a nice treat and the best I've ever tasted. The valets were great and always brought up my car quickly. Great hotel and good spots within walking distance even when it was 10-15 degrees outside! If I'm back in Anchorage, will definitely stay here again. read more

After scouting this location last summer, I thought we would be in the clear staying here at the end of a 2 week back-country trip. However, I was not aware of how significantly their remodel plans would impact my reconnaissance assessment. In short, this resulted in disappointment. The first look at the room seemed fine but on close inspection there was a lot of paint splatter and wallboard sanding dust left in spots. the small room fridge was just plugged in and left rather inconveniently in the way. The room door needed to be pushed to shut. In addition, the housekeeping was lax, there was hair on the floor of the bathroom and surfaces did not seem properly cleaned. In addition to all the in-room issues, there was just a general sense of construction chaos in the lobby and elevators. Is it really necessary to have all the construction staff riding the primary elevators? Lot's of folks moving around without masks. Not reassuring that Marriott is serious about protecting customers. read more

Concierge lounge worst I have ever experienced and I had things stolen from the room. Zero outdoor space as well and ridiculously overpriced lounge. $35 a night for parking. I had a whole slew of issues at this hotel - maybe I'm jinxed? I don't blame things directly on the staff...they are a little disorganized but I'm sure they are doing the best they can. I stayed here for two weeks so maybe my odds were higher than most. Valet - upon my arrival I waited outside and there was no one to help me with my car. Went inside and they said they would page someone. Ten minutes later there still wasn't someone to grab my car. Not a problem...just left my keys with the front desk. Requested my car another day and it took them 40 minutes to go get it, because of this I was late for my morning. I was frustrated but decided to give them another chance, once again it took them forever to get my car and I had to remind the front desk to call them again because they forgot about me and grabbed other cars first. I understand being busy but with $32 a day in valet you should get your car in less than 20 minutes. I parked at easypark across the street for the remainder of my stay. $1.25 an hour, so it's cheaper than the hotel and I think they literally use this garage to park cars anyways? Highly recommend it. Breakfast - very expensive about $22 for the breakfast buffet. Which you know will be a little expensive because of convenience. Anything from the menu is going to average around $20, including a very boring fritatta. (Which took about 30 min to make when the restaurant was empty). They don't know how to deal with the volume of the cruise ships and panicked one morning because they were completely full. No worries I can wait...they said fifteen minutes and 40 minutes later when I kid you not 20 people walked out over the span of about 10 minutes they said they still couldn't seat me because the kitchen was backed up - I literally wanted a scoop of oatmeal and eggs off the buffet. When I finally did get seated no one served me and ever asked me if I wanted anything to drink and I was in the restaurant for an hour...at which point the place was nearly empty. I told them and they apologized but still bad service. Room service - surprised they lost my food order? I waited for an hour and then called and they couldn't find it and said they think they sent it to the wrong room. Also the turkey flat bread is made of normal bread cut out into circles with a cookie cutter I think? It was pretty humorous. It also cost over $20 and I ordered my first meal at 8 pm and got this at 10:30 pm. Internet - $15 dollars a day if you book your hotel through a travel agent? My company requires that we book through concur so that sucked. They did remove the charges for me so I'll give them that. Laundry service - so expensive. It's about $9 for a pair of pants I believe? I wanted to wash my workout clothes and realized it would be $70 so I found a local sketchy laundromat instead. The hotel - it's super dated. The finishes are sloppy and the bathroom remodel is pretty funny. Paint splattered all over wall decorations and the toilet paper roll on the wrong wall. I wouldn't go to the gym here but Alaska Fitness sells a week pass for $34 and is a good local spot. The bar - hey the espresso bar is great! Super redeeming. Walkable - it's close to restaurants so id give it a decent walk score! Near a bus stop and a mildly transient population that like to yell at tourists. I realize some of these items are the cost of business travel. Overall I thought the staff were very nice, but the whole place is kind of a mess in how it runs. I won't be staying here next time to be honest. The Hyatts look really nice in this area and I'd compromise walkability to have something more comfortable and reliable! Some reviews on here are great so definitely just feel it out. Some people are loyal to Marriott but this one just didn't cut it. read more

This is the restaurant they have downstairs for breakfast. This is the second time I've eaten here this stay and this was not worth the voucher they sent me. I'm sitting here at the moment, reeling! Two days ago, My boss and I came down for breakfast. I got here first and let the server know there would be two of us. She sat me down at a booth with one set of cups and figured she'd grab another set. My boss gets down and we have to flag our server down for assistance. The place wasn't half full and they never came to ask if we needed refills or anything. They instead were huddled up either in the back or in the front laughing it up with valet and other employees. Then we get the check and ask for the to split it. She comes back 10min later (I thought she walked to Wasilla to get our checks) and my boss flags her down because she didn't split the check but just got me a different check; so they were about to charge him $50 for terrible service ‍. Fast forward to today. I'm sitting here at the restaurant, eating and trying to to tear up (I'm so mad). I come in and seat myself (9:20am). The place is less than half full (see pictures) and I give it until 9:28am before I reach out to Virtual Assistant through their app (I'm a member). Mind you I'm sitting next to the buffet and THREE different servers have stopped by the table next to mine, to play with the toddler at that table. They see me (I see them looking) but they never bother to ask me if I need a drink (servers get you the drinks). Virtual assistance tells me they'll let management know but I'm already 12min in before I get up and grab my own coffee carafe and pour my own orange juice then come back to my table. It isn't until 15min that a server tries to come up (after I think Virtual Assistant tells them) and I tell her I'm speaking with their management on the app and am disappointed. Then the restaurant manager (Alex Andrada was THE ONLY STAFF MEMBER THAT WAS KIND AND UNDERSTANDING, and I feel so bad that they had to hear my complaint; Alex also remembered me from previous stays and that was positive interactions they recall too) comes over, and Virtual Assistant has the nerve to lie to me (make me sound like I'm lying when I tell them the place ain't even half full, and they have even more staff today than two days ago) by telling me that it's because the place is full (see pictures). I showed it to the manager and told Virtual Assistant that I'm sitting right there with their manager and they're (the app) is lying to me and that I just screenshot that to add to my review. Then they stop replying. Then they reply with telling me video recording is not allowed. I was on a livestream service but not obvious about it so I know they had someone telling them. But instead of providing assistance they reply with what felt like retaliatory remarks. Then the servers started giving me that "sucks for you" smile and attitude with none of them approaching me. Except Alex, to check on me. Then my "server" Deanna comes to me and instead of asking if I would like the check or something, she just tells me that it'll be a charge to my account. With that smirk. This is so unacceptable and I feel like they're being retaliatory, as is the person on the app. See screenshots/photos. Also, we've overlooked valet sleeping at the podium (in plane sight and the front desk looking at us like we caught this) but we never brought it up because it didn't overshadow the rest of the stay. And Devine the front desk agent was super pleasant yesterday when I went to change my key card. Front desk has always been super courteous, as was the valet guy (I don't have his name but he's the African American gentleman; always smiling and super positive). I feel like this review is going to get retaliation (I already feel it) and I'm supposed to be here a few more days. Update: I just went to front desk to ask for the General Manager's number. Then I explained my experience today. Devine was there hit the other front desk agent mentioned she was the Virtual Assistant and then her tone changed. Instead of apologizing she questioned me about how I received the breakfast voucher. I told her it was slid under my door and I thought it was because maybe my boss spoke with management about our experience two days ago, but he asked me how I got a voucher too. I thought maybe it's because I had dry cleaning done? But anyway, she was asking me and telling me it's only for elite members; pretty much continuing the retaliation vibes. She then went to the back and Devine was super understanding and made me feel safe talking to someone employed here. And the valet that deserves acknowledgement is named Chris! If Marriott management sees this, I want them to know the people who are the real MVPs. People like Chris at Valet; Alex at the restaurant; and Devine at the front desk. read more

This was an outstanding hotel for many reasons. The view was amazing from 2 rooms being on the 14th and the 19th floor, views were incredible. The hotel staff was nice and very accommodating. The rooms were superb and very clean along with a huge TV and I was able to stream YouTube. The pool was also very nice as well. And amazing location for walking around town. It's def cleaner than the other hotels in anchorage. When I went there was a lot of renovations going on. The charge like $15 for WiFi daily use....only free WiFi in lobby. Super expensive, plus Alaska charges a $150 extra fee for hotels which is crazy. Don't visit Alaska if your broke cause it's not a cheap city. Stay at an Airbnb it's way better plus the price is almost the same if not cheaper. Will def need to rent a car and that's already $150-$300 a day. I should've just went to Cancun. My husband and I were in the middle of an Alaskan land tour when due to a medical condition, we were forced to leave the tour. Our initial night was included in the cost of the tour, however we had to stay an additional night. I felt that the manager lacked compassion of our situation and the charge including tax was almost 500.00 for one night. I would have expected more understanding from him as all we really needed was a bed for the night. Our room on the other hand was comfortable and quiet which is what we needed. read more

For a hotel that charges $400 a night, there are a few things lacking. 1. They try and nickel and dime you on the breakfast, even if you are a titanium member. Staff here is very accommodating and super friendly. They are full of recommendations on things to see and do while you are in town. Traveling on business so I did not have time to take them up on all the recommendations but the dinner spots were all right on point! As Marriott's go it's a little older which is the only thing keeping it from a 5 star because the staff more then makes up for it. In Alaska most of the hotels are a bit dated so it is not uncommon. I was prepared to give this hotel a 3 or 4 star. It's just a regular Marriott that is able to charge exorbitant prices. It's been renovated. They could clean better. But the saving grace of this hotel is Douglas in the bar. Incredible service. He noticed I was alone and reading and arranged that no one could sit next to me and bother me. Then when I asked for a wine to take to my room, he had a complete system with a plastic cup with lid, wine glass and bottle of water in a cup holder. Amazingly thoughtful. read more

Dining is below standard of most Marriotts. We're party of six in town with a cruise sip excursion. Bar food slow service. one gust served 20 min after the rest of us. Then her order did not include the side she had requested. The waited gaffed it off with a laugh. Never apologized for delay. Mever "noticed" the rest of us vwrrebpolitely waiting for her to be served. Waiter reeked of cologne. Made for a disappointing meal. read more

Fabulous hotel and great customer service! Very clean environment. My favorite part was the Kodiak bear on the second floor! It was huge and we all had an amazing photo shoot with it. Definitely a must see/stay in anchorage! read more

The staff from the front desk, concierge room, maintenance and housekeeping were delightful. It was a joy to be there.

Really nice property in an excellent location in downtown. As a Marriott Platinum Rewards member, I was upgraded to a slightly bigger room on the 20th floor and the large windows faced out to the water. In the winter time (mid-January), it took a while but there was eventually a good view of some of downtown and across to the airport. Concierge lounge was closed when I arrived, so I was only able to pop in and grab a few bottles of water before they shut down. The room was quiet, it was serviced well, and the curtains did a fab job of blocking out quite a lot of the sunlight. My only complaint was that the computer in the lobby wasn't free. Sad face. There is a parking deck across the street - I think this would be a much cheaper option than using the valet. But be warned - that's also the building with the bus station so there's a certain... element... there. read more
