Embassy Suites by Hilton 5901 N Interstate Hwy 35, Austin, TX 78723 I rarely leave negative reviews, but this stay was one of the most frustrating hotel experiences I've ever had. From the beginning, we had major plumbing issues. Our toilet repeatedly would not flush, requiring maintenance to come and plunge it. Afterward, the maintenance worker rinsed the plunger in our bathtub, leaving behind feces and other unsanitary residue. This was completely unacceptable and created a serious sanitation concern. As if that wasn't enough, the air conditioning in our room wasn't working. We were moved to another room, only to discover that the AC there wasn't working either. We were eventually given box fans, but it took hours to receive them, leaving us in an extremely uncomfortable room. Customer service only made the situation worse. The front desk staff were dismissive and rude whenever we raised our concerns. Eventually, they stopped answering our calls altogether, forcing us to repeatedly go downstairs to speak with someone in person instead of having staff assist us. Housekeeping also claimed they had cleaned the bathroom after the plumber's visit, but they never came. Because the bathtub had been contaminated, we couldn't use the shower until it was properly cleaned. This caused us to be late for an important event. To make matters even more inconvenient, our toilets continued to malfunction, forcing us to use the lobby restrooms throughout our stay. To top it all off, when we spoke with management about everything that had gone wrong, we were told the only compensation they could offer was 50 Hilton Honors points for our entire stay. That is nowhere near enough to cover the inconvenience, let alone compensate for an entire weekend filled with plumbing issues, unsanitary conditions, broken air conditioning, poor customer service, and the disruption of our plans. It felt as though our concerns were dismissed instead of genuinely addressed. I have even attempted to resolve this through Expedia. I am seeking a refund based on the conditions we experienced, but Expedia requires the hotel's approval before they can process it. Despite everything that occurred during our stay, the hotel has not been willing to provide meaningful assistance. Overall, this experience was incredibly disappointing. Between the lack of cleanliness, ongoing maintenance problems, poor communication, and inadequate response from management, we did not feel valued or cared for as guests. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend staying at this Embassy Suites by Hilton. If customer service, cleanliness, and basic accommodations matter to you, I strongly suggest choosing another hotel. read more

Arrived at the hotel and the first thing I noticed were the park at your own risk signs all over the parking lot. The outside building desperately needs fresh paint and cleaning. And the area it's located in is sketchy. The room is so old and needs major attention. We have a cut out piece of the wall in one of the bedrooms and the furniture and decor look like they came from goodwill. If we weren't staying just one night I would have turned around and left. The pictures are very misleading. I would never stay here again. For the $$$ we spent Embassy Suites should be checking their hotels for higher standards that we expect from them. read more

Best breakfast ever. The omelette guy is curteous, fast and efficient. We had a problem with the A/C but desk sent a maintenance person and it was corrected in minuets. Only possible problem was I asked the front desk clerk to mail a letter. She looked at me like I had 2 heads. I did not feel confident giving her the letter to mail. I would not stay at Embassy Suites Austin Central again. The morning after checking in, I noticed there was no "Do Not Disturb" sign anywhere in my room, which I found unusual for a hotel of this caliber. I went to the front desk and requested one, only to be told by the employee that the hotel did not have any available. Finding that strange as well, I politely asked that housekeeping not enter my room. The front desk associate acknowledged my request and even wrote it down on the housekeeping communication slip. When I returned later that day, I immediately noticed that my room had been entered anyway. Concerned, I went back to the front desk to report the issue. Another employee apologized and informed me that the Assistant General Manager, Phillip, would be notified and would contact me the following morning. The next morning came and went without any communication. I eventually had to go to the front desk myself to speak with Phillip. Unfortunately, I was met with very little urgency or concern regarding the situation. Phillip stated that he would credit half of my four-night stay to my Hilton Honors account as a gesture of goodwill. As of this review, I have yet to receive that credit. Beyond that issue, there were several other disappointments during my stay. The breakfast options were extremely limited if you do not eat pork, the hotel is completely cashless, and some members of the staff came across as rude and unhelpful. Overall, this experience left me feeling that guest concerns are not taken seriously and that promises made by management are not always followed through on. Austin has plenty of hotels to choose from, and based on my experience, I believe there are better options in and around the city. Rooms are clean and comfortable and spacious enough like a typical Embassy room experience. Breakfast and bar staff nice, however, the front desk can do much better with their customer service. They seem too exhausted and like serving a customer is a burden (some of the ones I saw on shift). The location is a bit shady for my taste but glad I only needed the room sleeping quarters as I spent my days out away in downtown. Worth the nightly price. read more

I booked this last minute for a trip through hotels.com. Walking in, it was a refreshing vibe. Don't let the area fool you. Everyone around is super friendly and it's very safe. Mark met us with a smile and upbeat kindness. He was truly one of the best parts of our trip. The atmosphere is very inviting and the breakfast was delicious! I made sure to get it every morning lol. The rooms are absolutely adorable and the beds are super comfy. The elevators are quick. Every staff member we encountered was very kind and helpful. The pool was great, especially with it being indoors and available no matter the weather. We ended up wanting to stay another night and we booked directly through mark. He gave us an even better rate than I had previously paid! This will be the only place we stay now in Austin. There's so many more things I could go on about. Pictures are heavily filtered: When you walk in you realize that although the pictures are real the hotel is very outdated and in a very sketchy area. The wood furniture is all worn down and faded. Our room had multiple outlet covers broken exposing the wires, wall paper was hanging off, They charge to park and provide zero security... Woke up to my truck broken into and a Destroyed bed cover... 302 dollars for a night and 2 thousand dollars worth of damage to my vehicle... Front desk was no help. This was a very disappointing experience, embassy has been always our favorite hotel to stay for my family and I but until this time, the service was very very bad, from the cleaning to the front desk. The cleaning was very bad, we left some cups since day one and they didn't even bother to pick them up, and we stayed 4 nights, also when we arrived we found a towel that had dry boogers on it and we were disgusted by it, not a very good impression. Also the front desk lady always had a bad face on her and obviously room service wasn't working, if we wanted more towels, Kleenex or even bathroom papers we had to go down to the front desk and face the bad attitude of the concierge people. We were sad, angry and disappointed because this hotel isn't a cheap one and when it comes to this problems you feel that you just wasted your money. Terrible customer service. They ambushed me at 1:20am with a bunch of new charges. I've stayed here multiple times and never been charged $50 a day for incidentals. I've also never paid for parking here. Why would they charge parking at this location? We are literally on the highway and there is nothing to do at a walking distance and no other alternatives for parking other then on the side of the highway. The lady said with a smile on her face she can just cancel my reservation if I'd like because I was clearly upset with all these new charges. On top of all that.. my room smells musty musty. The AC filter is over 2 months old. These filters should be replaced every month. The AC unit was loud and the bathtub was dirty! Also work out facility had toxic chemical smells and wasn't closed or any note saying you couldn't use it. Be very careful booking a room here. I had canceled a reservation that was no longer needed the same day I made it within hours of each other so imagine my surprise when I was charged for it! I was told by manager, Mark, because I did not get the name of person I canceled with and they had no notes in their system about the cancelation their was nothing he could do. I was charged a no-show fee since they were fully booked. I am an Hilton Honors member and have been for years this is the first time I have ever been treated so dismissively. Manager did not even attempt to rectify the mistake just passed blame on to corporate reservations and indicated that I may have called someone else to cancel and not the actual hotel either way it was not their problem I had to pay the no-show fee. Overall for my visit, the room was ok, the breakfast buffet food could have been a bit warmer (it got cold almost as soon at it got on the plate) and the luggage carts were nowhere to be found which was aggravating. Lesson: always WRITE down name of person you speak with, get ID #, time of call, and day of call otherwise you will essentially be called a liar and told screw you! read more

This was probably one of the worst Hotel experiences ever. We did not have hotel room service once during our three night stay, we had to go get towels and blankets from the front desk. The exhaust fan in our bathroom made a terrible noise so that we couldn't turn it on in the morning as it would wake the kids. We paid for parking, had items stolen out of the parking lot. The assistant manager not only was not helpful he gave us the business card to the head of accounting. We had to call the police, there all no cameras anywhere to see, even though we paid for parking. He NEVER checked back in, we had to contact home. The General Manager was there. Members of the Staff were acknowledged. They had a Manager Meet and Greet nightly and we were treated to two complimentary drinks and appetizers. I came into town for work in the office days and opted to stay here where my fellow traveling colleagues were staying. I had flashbacks to the late 90s when I lived in the apartment complex behind the hotel. Seems like only yesterday except the neighborhood is dramatically different, but the same in many respects. The parking lot is rough, but it's very big, if anyone opted to park in the back. I didn't notice until day three that they had "scan the qr code" to pay for parking. I had not done this so I went to the front desk and they charged the parking to my room. This works great for me for reimbursement. And also why do hotels charge for parking? I think this is the dumbest thing. Just roll out into the room cost and no one will know. This was $14 a night, which is significantly less than most places. The hotel is old and mostly dated. It looks like maybe the lobby has a facelift in recent decades? The carpet and rooms were just as I remembered them when I stayed here for a UIL competition in high school. The room was tidy for my arrival, but again it's just dated and old. Everything seemed to work ok. The front room was chilly, but the bedroom was very warm, even with outdoor temperatures in the 40s-70s. I had the thermostat at 60 and it didn't feel like there was much change, but it was not unbearable. The microwave worked, but was loud and clunky. The glass tray didn't sit flat and was noisy. The refrigerator was not very cold at all, but didn't seem to spoil anything. The coffee maker was just a bust for me. I tried it once and half the coffee ended up on the counter. I also decided that I am not a fan of the coffee they serve. I love the layout, which offers two rooms for sleeping if needed. The sofa is a sleeper, although not the most comfortable seating. The room offered a kitchen area and table/desk .The bed was decent enough and the room had a sink in the bedroom in case the bathroom is occupied. The shower definitely needs an update, and the water pressure could be better, but they did the job. The staff was fantastic and definitely deserve the added star. My room was refreshed daily, the bed was made, and the trash was removed. My room was also very quiet and close to the ice machine for a nice bonus. The con was the view from my room- overflowing dumpsters and lots of trash. The gym was nice and quiet with lots of machines and a decent selection of equipment. However, I couldn't find a spray to spray down the machine I used. I didn't participate in the happy hour or breakfast, although both seemed to offer great options. This is probably not going to be at the top of my list for future stays, but it's a reliable alternative. read more

The building is located on a busy, one-way frontage road. If you miss the ingress point along this road, you have to make a huge loop to get back to this spot, because even though there are two points of ingress on the side street, they're both gated and locked up! Why??? This means you can't come at it from any other direction. We spent so much time looping a huge radius to get to that one entry point, it's ridiculous. Open the gates! What would be the problem with that? I can't wait until I've left this hotel for the last time. It also seems close enough to downtown austin to be worth the price drop, but the five miles usually takes 30 minutes to drive because of traffic. The staff is really nice, and the breakfast is good enough with lots of options, including an omelette bar. There is a lot of iced water in the lobby where I was able to fill up my reusable water bottle. They even have a strawberry jalapeño water option, with the recipe displayed. There was a separate sitting room from the bedroom, with mini fridge, microwave, coffee/tea and sink, but the hotel is dated. One thing I like about Hilton's is that they fill up shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc, so there is less plastic waste. And they even came in every other day to make the bed and replace the used towels (although I'd prefer to use them again to save water). But even though they came in that often, they never noticed the body wash was empty in the shower. Overall the place is fine, other than the location and the locked gates. Because of that, and the one-way street, would never stay here again. read more

As a diamond member for the last 4 years, I have stayed in hundreds of Hilton properties every year and have never been in one as terrible as the Embassy Suites Austin Central. Immediately upon entering my room I was struck by two things-- 1. The musty mildew smell is OVERWHELMING. I constantly felt like I was about to sneeze and it was so horrible it kept me from ever feeling comfortable. 2. It was FREEZING. Normal, in a hotel room. I turned the thermostat up to 74 on auto to heat it up quickly. When I still felt cold air blasting out, I turned it up to 78. Still feeling cold air an hour later I turned it up to 80 to no avail. I called the front desk who sent maintenance up to my room. When maintenance arrived he tried to mansplain to me how a thermostat works asking what temperature I wanted and saying he would set it to 74 and auto and that the AC should kick off when it gets to that temperature. I kindly explained that I know what auto means and had it set on 80 on auto and it was still blasting out cold air, which was the problem. His solution was to just turn the unit off rather than fix it. I was never offered a different room. I went in to take a shower and the shower curtain was as disgusting as the mildew smell overtaking the entire room. Additionally, there was no luggage rack, the pillows were sized for a small child's head, and the coffee machine only half worked, putting a measly 1/3 cup of coffee into my cup and spilling water all over the counter. I can deal with outdated hotels but this was downright disgusting, with subpar customer service, and a disgrace to the Hilton brand that I have stayed with for so long. read more

I had an excellent stay last night after my AC at my house went out. I was able to book quickly for not a lot. Check in was quick and Jaspreet was friendly. My room was a suite with a living space, kitchenette and a big room with a view. There was a microwave and a fridge. It was clean and had great AC. They have plenty of parking. I do wish the gate was locked because the neighbor hood is a little sketch but my car was safe and i felt safe. The best part was the MASSIVE breakfast buffet. I was able to get a made-to order omelette and all the sides I could ever want along with several juices, coffee, cereal and breads. I had a great experience and would come back. I was also happy to find they had a bar open till 11p. read more

Literally the worst hotel I've ever stayed at. We picked this one bc it was the only hotel that had a 2 bedroom suite available for the weekend we were visiting. The first night the AC stopped working in the middle of the night. With a 1 year old and Texas heat - it was absolutely horrible. I had to use our small portable fan to keep her cool through the night. The next morning we overheard multiple other people complaining about the AC in their rooms as well. The staff was unapologetic to the situation and super rude. The white male with glasses had no customer service skills whatsoever. Their breakfast buffet was horrible. Flies were everywhere inside the food area and sitting area. This hotel just feels dirty. Place is disgusting. Literally do not stay here and find another hotel. read more

A bit on the older side however quality made. Especially appreciated the French windows and doors with the glass floor to ceiling. Furniture does needs to be re-stained, however real wooden and nice. Brianna reservations manager was extremely helpful in getting all the rooms for my group: absolutely no hassles when everyone arrived I was with a reunion group so the suites were just perfect! able to congregate in one room and played cards! rates were reasonable for Austin. rooms are large, plenty of mirrors and light ; thermostat worked well TV perfect One small issue in room was fixed promptly. wasn't able to try the free happy hour. I liked the large parking lot. I like the large lobby plenty of places to to congregate. Breakfast was a real highlight ! I made a reservation on July 16th and was told the cost would be $110.00, when I checked out on the 17th, my bill was $165.00 much to my surprise. Plus, they charge for parking, which is ridiculous. I told the person at the front desk what I was told when I made the reservation with Embassy - she did not care. I called the same number, and spoke with a man, who said he would refund the difference but to date that has not happened. I would have never stayed there for that price and will never stay at another Embassy Suite due to being lied too. read more

I checked into room 1026 I believe. The 2 bedroom suite on the tenth floor. When I checked in all seemed normal. The living room and bedroom on same side seemed colder but assumed the units were just kicking in from check in My self and kids went to the pool area. It was freezing and so was the pool itself. The jacuzzi jets also did not work. We left to attend an event at Moody Center Upon arrival back I out my kids to bed on the second bedroom and around 11pm I noticed my room was still very cold. The heat was not working. They did send someone up to look but he had no clue about anything and didn't fix anything. Honestly nice man but a joke. I had to explain to him how the thermostat should work. Ended up having to sleep between my two kids on a queen bed in the one room the heat was working. Temps in Austin were 14 degrees so sleeping in the other room with no heat wasn't an option. Couldn't move due to groups and wouldn't want to with 2 toddlers fast asleep after midnight. In addition the parking situation is ghetto. You have to go on your phone literally in the parking lot every day and go on a website or app and pay for parking. Like how is a hotel gonna charge for parking yet they are not the ones charging? Stay at the one downtown. I've talked to a number of other Hilton members while here and they say they this place always has issues with ac or heat. Some of the elevators were also not working. read more

I've stayed here a lot over the years and over the last couple months the FOM just simply can't do his job when we send over credit card authorization forms. This stay I've had to call numerous times over 5 days and sent 2 emails and it still wasn't don't resulting in my personal card being authorized. On my last stay about 3 weeks ago same issue, I had to call 5 times and then finally an email to the GM. I spoke with Mark the FOM and his response on the phone was basically you are guaranteed a room I will get to it when I get to it. I just don't understand why I have to make several calls and send several emails to get Mark to do what he's supposed to do. I travel weekly and this is the only hotel that simply can't enter a CC form when they receive it. read more

Let me just start by saying it's an old building. It's clean but there is an old building smell as soon as you walk into the room. I was here for a week; not by choice but for business. I can appreciate the size of the sofa in the room but it is old and needs to be updated. There's alot of waisted space in the bedroom. The bathroom is extremely small. The fridge is extremely small and so is the microwave. I really can appreciate the architecture of the building. It has a french colonial feel, but it really needs updating. The staff is really nice! The breakfast and evening snacks are the BEST I have experienced. It probably was the best part of my stay. There's also a nice lobby area. Very comfy. The conference rooms are big and nice as well. I would not volunteer to stay here but If I had to for business, I believe it would be ok considering how nice the breakfast area is lol. We visited during a really busy weekend but didn't really feel an impact on our stay. The breakfast was better than most hotels and they had a lot of options. I like the layout of the rooms, although the bathroom is tight, everything else is reasonably spacious when traveling with more than one person. There were 2 separate areas with sinks, not including the bathroom so that makes it nice for having guest over if traveling with a large group. I like the infused water that they offer, it's a nice gesture. The staff was pleasant and I have nothing constructive to say. The reason for the 4 stars would be that I don't feel like the room was cleaned the best, I found nail clippings around the sink. It is an old building so the rooms do have a stench. Ours smelled like weed, which I get they can't really control that. Other than that, it was a decent stay and I would visit again. read more

The aesthetic is nice but I had two problems which made it so that I wouldn't book again or recommend: 1. When I first got into my room, the toilet wasn't cleaned well and there was poop crust. I had to ask them to change rooms. 2. At night, it got a bit chilly so I wanted to turn on the heat. I figured since there was central air that would be easy. No. It was a whole production--hotel staff (who was very nice and professional) had to come and spend 30 minutes opening up the ceiling vents. This is a decent hotel but very dated. That's obvious with the scent that you smell upon entering. The lobby was extremely hot during my stay, not sure what was going on with the A/C. The evening reception has changed...they pass out tickets when you check in for two drinks and they serve popcorn, chips/salsa and veggies. They also have menu items at half price. I didn't know they had a restaurant on property. The breakfast is probably the best part. They serve made to order omelets, along with all the breakfast items that you can think of including fruit and cereal. All flavor juices, milk and coffee. The room was spacious with two double beds and a sleeper sofa. There's also a fridge and microwave. The biggest downside was the bathtub and sink drained super slow. For almost 800.00 for a weekend not including an bogus parking charge, we are off to a disappointing start. First to witness your, albeit overworked staff be absolutely rude to a gentleman checking in, then belittle him to his wife with completely false statements was appalling. To hear the same staff member complain about the soccer tournament we all paid WAY too much money for these accommodations for--also disappointing and the travel agency in charge will hear about that. And finally--ice machines not working, parking apps not working and our bathtubs has gross paint peeling in the bottom. When trying to bathe babies/toddlers this is unacceptable. We really enjoyed our stay here! Checking in took a bit longer because there was a huge group of tourists. We were given bottles of water at the same time we received our room keys. Best of all, we were told any snacks/drinks found in the room are complimentary to us. Not sure if it's because we are Hilton Honors member? Even better though, during our stay (perhaps it is an everyday thing?) we enjoyed free Happy Hour drinks and munchies by the first floor dining area every afternoon! Not to mention breakfasts are included with cooked to order omlettes and buffet style offerings. Our rooms were great, just what we wanted - suites! Loved the see through elevators. The only thing we would've liked more is to have solid doors instead of curtained glass doors, for more privacy, of course. Also, one mid-morning there was very loud construction noises.
