1 lb of wings + Cali fries
Ashley M.

Been here plenty of times for drinks and it's always a fun vibe plus they have good happy hour specials. Finally got food for the first time and I'm just wondering what took me so long! You can't beat 1lb of wings for $10 plus the cali fries were huge and delicious.

Vibes were good! Come during happy hour which is every weekday from 3 to 7 get bogo beer (if same beer purchased). Lots of people in beanies and vests. Good food and cool bartenders (shoutout to Sam). Would return especially on a Friday after work! They even have a few board games

While I can't speak to the food, I can speak to the vibe and the booze...which are the most important things anyway! Embers Ski Lodge is a wood-filled, hipster/local-vibed, rustic, yet industrial restaurant and bar that sits in the heart of 12 South. They are two story with a decently sized indoor space that features the large bar, seating with hightops and booths and a game area. Upstairs is all seating with a few high tops and stools lining the edge overlooking the busy streets below. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and were able to catch their 2-4-1 happy hour specials on beers. So naturally we all loaded up as many Montucky's and High Noon's as possible while we bellied up to the railing and people watched! It was a pretty solid afternoon! Service at the bar was solid and pricing wasn't terrible, especially with the happy hour running. Really the only downfall, which is trivial was the single stall restroom...for a place of this size, there was a constant wait to use the single restroom downstairs. Overall, Embers is a cool spot that we will certainly be back to...and I think we owe it to ourselves to scoop up some food along with our booze next time!

A solid happy hour in 12 South. The staff is friendly, and plenty of space to seat yourself. The food was delicious and it was great have different dipping sauces for the fries. I definitely will be back.

I can only comment on the bar service as we didn't eat here. We had reservations at Urban Grub and wanted a cocktail prior to walking over. Have to say, we were definitely impressed. The ski lodge theme is a bit strange as it's Nashville but the place is nicely decorated and clean. The bartenders were super nice and served us quickly. A lot of beers on tap and many drink options, especially at happy hour! A great crowd from all walks of life, including oldies like us. Loved the hops lights over the bar. The upstairs balcony is really cool and you can see most of 12 South. Next time we're in town we'll be trying the food as the burgers looked freaking awesome.

Great local neighborhood bar with an upstairs balcony area that overlooks the 12 south area. A bit odd of a ski lodge theme considering we're in the South, but nevertheless a fun local hangout spot! When we went a week ago, they were running on a limited food menu and didn't have any burgers, only appetizers. But still an overall great experience. Cali Style Fries- super good with the caramelized onions, cheese and animal sauce Queso - ask for extra chips cuz the quest is delicious. Brussel sprouts - a must order! Service: Friendly and unpretentious.

Nice ambiance! We loved it. It just remembers me those ski slopes I went in Colorado. Food was great, too. We got hamburgers. It comes with fries. Fries were so freshly fried. Burger was really great too! People were friendly as well. We really enjoyed!!

What a fun place! I'll come here again for sure. If you live close, this is such a small and cozy place to just come and chill out for a few hours. The rustic decor is beautiful (the lighting, the bark overlay on the walls, and all the fun games available (darts and board games)). Our waiter was AMAZING, and the food was delicious! Our waiter made us feel like he owned the place and we were his very first customers. He was so knowledgeable, so friendly, so down to earth, and incredibly attentive. Our food and drinks were all on point! Out of a party of 8, we were all satisfied with our meals! I had the brussel sprouts which were SO good! They were cut into halves, I believe they were then pan fried, and drizzled with some sort of light dressing. Either way, they were delicious! There were some brussel sprouts haters in my party lol, and after they tried them, they were won over! I also enjoyed the lobster roll which was jam packed with flavorful lobster. Every bite I took, I was pleased with. I also tasted their fries which were perfectly cooked, soft on the inside, and crunchy on the outside. I was very pleased! Lastly, there are a few parking spots right in front of the restaurant if you get lucky, but we ended up having to park a block away on the street. Honestly, it was no big deal, since it was free street parking, and the weather was nice :)

We reserved the bowling alley for the 90 minute max, but we arrived early, and because no one else was playing, they let us play our original reservation time as well as a little extra. Much appreciated. Staff is very accommodating and attentive. Several people checked in on us the entire time we were bowling. We arrived during brunch time, with the typical fare of eggs benny and bloody marys. We chose to snack on the hummus and pretzels and queso. Both hit the spot. The hummus was complex, flavorful, and a little spicy. The pita bread was charred just right. The pretzels were salty, the queso creamy and just a little spicy, and delish. We had a couple cocktails, which were all refreshing and light. The "She's a Peach," with pisco, peach liquer, amaretto, lemon, grenadine, and ancho reyes. We also tried the "Latitude Adjustment," with aged rum, pineapple, genepy, green chartreuse, cucumber, lime, pineapple, and coconut (a tiki like number). Dinner fare is geared toward burgers, pasta, salmon, chicken, handhelds. All the menus are concise, but they all work together and make sense. The place is beautiful and retro and not crowded at all on a midday Friday. I paid 90 dollars base for the bowling and then there was kinda a crazy service charge of almost 20 bucks. All said and done, I paid just over 120 dollars for 90 minutes of bowling for two. But keep in mind, this is for the whole lane, so more people would equate to a lower price per capita. Parking is easy and the first three hours are free with validation. Right there next to the facility. It was a great space to kick back, laugh at ourselves, get a little competitive, snack, and have some cocktails. Would recommend it to anyone.

If you come here for nothing else, let it be the Pinewood Classic Tots (Bravas spice, parmesan,…read moreparsley, paprika aioli). These are simply phenomenal and are delicious even without the aioli. I would order these as my main dish and hoard them all to myself, haha But I did not know this at the time so I also ordered the Turkey and brie wrap (pinewood roasted turkey, brie, garlic aioli, arugula, cranberry chutney, flour tortilla, came with salad). This was just OK - there was too much sauce on my wrap (honestly, my fault, I only like the tiniest smear on sandwiches and I forgot to ask for it on the side). The salad was heavy on the vinaigrette, to the point where the lettuce was wilty and droopy. Everything tasted fine though. The ambiance is cool, there is a bowling alley in the back, and the main dining room has tall ceilings and kind of reminded me of an airplane hangar. Our server was friendly, but she was given a huge table of people that had small kids with them and they were taking all of her time with a million questions so for a while I wondered if we were ever going to be able to pay and leave. Normally sitting and chilling out is no problem but we had to be on the road and a storm was coming so I was a little more on edge this time. Oh also lunch here is EXPENSIVE. It was almost $80 for two people and nothing we ordered was the most expensive dish. Just be aware.

However, a voice came from the bar area with directions. We chose to to the flight. The choices were selected with a little help from the bar. They came out pretty quickly. The tasting started and it out of 5, only one did not have a nasty and strong hoppy/bitter after taste. The select were Passion fruit, Hippies and Cowboy, Southern Wit, Urban Hiker, and Wildwood. As we spent our time no one seem to as if we needed anything or if our selection were ok. We got some "why are you in here type" looks. I was not impressed by this brewery. The customer service and my sensing of being not welcome was high. Note we were the only patrons. I would not return.

I also always appreciate a farm to table restaurant. We got a variety of things to try for our party of four. To start we got the sourdough bread with seaweed butter, kale salad, beef tartare, and yellowfin tuna carpaccio. The kale salad was my stand out app, I loved the fresh black currents in it. For the mains we got the clam linguine, chicken, and snapper. The stand out here was the linguine and the chicken. They make their pasta fresh, and you could definitely tell. For starters, I tried the pork sausage dish with clams stuffed in a pepper. It was definitely an interesting and creative preparation and incredibly filling. It was good and I appreciated the flavors but would try a different starter next time! I really enjoyed the spaghetti. It tasted like summer on a plate - light, fresh, and bursting with bright tomato flavor. The sauce was simple but layered, letting the quality of the ingredients shine. Overall, an enjoyable meal and a space I'd love to come back to try other menu items....I have heard rave reviews about a corn pasta here and I'd like to try sitting in the interior dining section which had a cozy, inviting feel.

The cooks were throwing down in that kitchen! Over a couple of days I tried a few things. SZECHUAN SALAD I got the Szechuan Salad with both kale and spinach. I added tempeh bacon and extra dressing on the side. (It didn't need the extra dressing though.) This salad is SO good! I had to force myself to put the fork down and not overeat. It's a large portion so you can share or save half for another day. (When doing this I recommend getting the dressings on the side to prevent soggy greens.) All of the ingredients tasted super fresh, and that Szechuan tofu was thoroughly marinated. Deliciousness! The tempeh (and at home avocado) that I added wasn't necessary but it sure was tasty. This salad is gluten free. SZECHUAN BRUSSELS I love me some roasted brussels sprouts so it was a must to try theirs. I added jalapeños and Hot Tempeh. I have no idea what Hot Tempeh is but I wanted to try it. Best decision ever. The dish itself is amazing. 10/10! The sprouts are saturated in the Szechuan sauce and spices, so every tender bite bursts with tantalizing flavors in your mouth. The Hot Tempeh is tempeh with a coating. It's quite delicious and it elevated an already soaring experience for me. The Szechuan Brussels dish is gluten free, but the Hot Tempeh is not (because of the breading). DUBAI CHOCOLATE CAKE Because I had to. It was NOT gluten free, but I risked it (I have a gluten sensitivity). They did have a gluten free chocolate cake and a gluten free brownie à la mode dish, but I needed that Dubai Chocolate. It was delicious. BLUEBERRY PANCAKES I ordered a single pancake, gluten free for $1 extra. So fluffy and buttery. You'd never guess it was gluten free or vegan. ROASTED POTATOES Excellent preparation and seasonings. MOCK TUNA MELT Gluten free when ordered as a bowl. It was served on a bed of spinach instead of bread. I omitted the cheese and tomatoes. It was very good and the chipotle sauce had a great kick. My husband and I visited on a Sunday evening for my birthday dinner with our three kids (ages 4, 3,…read moreand 1). I've been here at least 10 times over the past eight years. Parking was easy, with plenty of street parking nearby. We had a 5 p.m. reservation and arrived around 4:52. The doors were locked, and although an employee was standing just inside, we were asked to wait outside until exactly 5. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal, but it was about 95 degrees, I'm eight months pregnant, and we had three young kids with us. That wasn't a great first impression, and I think if reservations begin at 5, guests should be able to come inside a few minutes early. Once the doors opened, we were seated promptly. They had a high chair ready for our youngest, and our server was excellent throughout the meal. The restaurant has a trendy, upscale atmosphere, and while our oldest did great, I think it's a better fit for adults than families with very young children. One thing I really appreciated was that when we realized they only had glass cups available, our server found paper coffee cups for the kids. It was a small gesture that made the meal much less stressful. The sausage biscuits are still outstanding and easily my favorite item on the menu. The steak was good, but I wasn't impressed with the Cobb salad. Our kids shared the fried chicken and mac and cheese, and my husband ordered the pot roast. Our bill came to about $190 before tip. Overall, the meal was good, but it didn't feel like the special dining experience I remembered from previous visits. Between the rough start, the prices, and food that was good but not particularly memorable, I don't see us returning anytime soon. The service was kind, but for this price point, I expected more.
