My first experience with Peruvian cuisine exceeded my expectations. After walking past this restaurant countless times, I finally decided to give it a try, and I'm glad I did. The service was warm and attentive, and my waitress quickly seated me at an outdoor table, which made for a relaxing dining experience. I ordered the NY strip with rice, fried plantains, and the house green sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly--tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The rice was light and fluffy, the plantains were delicious, and the green sauce brought everything together beautifully. The atmosphere was inviting, especially dining outside and taking in the downtown scenery. Overall, the food, service, and ambiance were excellent. If you're ready to branch out from the usual dinner rotation, Inka Grill is a flavorful little escape to Peru - no passport required! We tried the Arroz con Mariscos and the Bistec a lo Pobre and let's just say, we left full and highly impressed. The seafood rice was loaded - like actually loaded - with shrimp, mussels, and more, all tossed in a rich, savory sauce that had just enough depth to make you actually slow down and appreciate it (or at least try to before inhaling it). Then the Bistec a lo Pobre, the ultimate Peruvian comfort food. Juicy steak, caramelized onions, rice and beans, and a fried egg on top - bc of course. Love this added international flare here in downtown Greensboro. Not too many Peruvian spots in the area so it's very nice to see this pop up just a few years ago. Love the interior decor, with an added covered patio on bustling Elm St. Service was quick and friendly as well. The ceviche had excellent flavors with the lime juice, red onions and cilantro. The fish was tasty, but a few pieces were a bit tough, not your typical melt in your mouth ceviche style fish. But the flavors made up for it and then some. The Lomo Saltado (steak, tomatoes, onions, peppers fired up in a wok) had complex and exceptional flavors as well. Again, some of the meat was a bit tough and chewy. But again, the authentic Peruvian flavors shined. Instead of fries, I chose the fried yucca as a side and these were outstanding. Perfectly fried, tender and flavorful. Dipping these in the sauce the meat was bathed in was heavenly. Had the fish and meat been a little more tender, these would have easily been 5 star dishes. Overall, an amazing authentic Peruvian spot, that with a little tweaks, would be a 5 star joint 100%. Looking forward to trying some of their other amazing dishes on the menu. read more

I have been to this downtown Greensboro Peruvian restaurant a couple of times and am always impressed. The food is tasty and they have a mixture of traditional Peruvian dishes as well as lots of more international options. On my most recent visit I ordered the Lomo Saltado which was steak pieces, tomatoes, cilantro, and onions sauteed in a fiery wok. The steak was soft, juicy, and very flavorful. Veggies were bright and tender. The sauce was great mixed in with the white rice served on the side. It typically comes with French fries as the other side, but I substituted for black beans. The beans weren't anything unique but tasty enough. Good portion size. It was a very hearty dish, perfect for a cold day. I left feeling very satisfied. There's a small outdoor covered patio with 2 and 4 top tables. I personally haven't sat out here, but I bet it's nice on a warmer day. Inside is a bar area as well as tables and booths. I haven't been here when it was super busy so never had an issue getting a table. The service is attentive. Decor is simple and clean. Local restaurants need our support, so if you are up to enjoy a different and delicious taste when downtown, come here! read more

5/5: The chicken chaufa was surprisingly the top winner for me. What makes this fried rice so great? It is so peppery. The scallions are freshly chopped to add to this mild peppery note, but also bring some freshness. And combined with that hot green sauce it comes with, I could not stop eating it. 4.5/5: The aji de gallina has a similar profile and texture to a mild curry. The boiled potatoes, shredded chicken, hard boiled egg, and a little surprise olive cut in half all complemented each other well. Peruvian food might be my favorite now! The ceviche has the perfect amount of lime in it and the fish is nice and tender. The potatoes is like a mustards type of sauce which was yummy and has a little kick to it. The Tacu Tacu is rice and beans mixed together which I was scared to get because I'm not a big fan of beans but my oh my it went perfect together. The steak was cooked perfect and the sauce they put on it is so delicious I'm getting hungry now talking about it. The salmon with risotto pesto was actually really good that was my first time trying risotto and it was paired great with the salmon. The steak with pesto pasta was delicious the pasta had the right amount of pesto on it and again the steak was cooked perfectly we got medium rare. What a culinary delight! Our first time at Inka Grill did not disappoint. From the sangria, to the dessert, my tastebuds were very happy. Our server Eduardo was very helpful when picking out our entrees. We ordered a cerviche which reminded me of times in Mexico. Delicious! I ordered the steak and tomato entrée. Can't remember the name of it because most of the dishes are Peruvian or Dominican names. My husband ordered the shredded chicken dish. Both were so good! Although we were both staffed, we couldn't help ourselves, and we decided to split a chocolate cake, a type of dessert which was delicious with hints of liquor I think?! There is much to discover about Peruvian cuisine, much to enjoy. Like most ethic cuisines the food is influenced by the ingenious population and the local fruit, vegetables, seafood, and meat that is available, as well as the colonial intrusions and the immigrantion patterns. There were few options for Peruvian food in Greensboro until Embur open something over 10 years ago. Then Viva Chicken, a lightweight chain that offers some traditional Peruvian dishes( pollo a la brasa) in a fast casual environment came in about 8 years ago. Now in the last year or so, this spot ( the fourth location of a small chain that began in Roanoke in 2019 by a native Peru) and Afi Fusion have come to town with nice menus and some creativity all across that menu, and yet it all starts with ceviche, as it should - the national dish of Peru! Cerviche goes back to the time of the Incas, where they used local citrus juice to "cook" raw seafood. There are other countries in South American and other places in the world that offer in one form or another, but as the Bond song says, nobody does it better. The ceviche served here is excellent - fresh tasting, attractively plated, and nicely garnished. It is as good as any in the area. Of course the key is the freshness of the seafood. I've tried a number of items here in addition to the ceviche - Anticucho ( not for everyone), Shrimp and Calamari, Jalea, Lomo Saltado (not my favorite, rather dull), and more. This is a restaurant that will peak your interest, and dazzle your taste buds. I've eaten several times at the 4 restaurants mentioned here, and I find that Inka brings the most to the table both literally and figuratively! Downtown Raleigh location.... This restaurant teleported me back to my trip to Peru at the end of the pandemic. Humble vibes with rich flavors! I will say, you must have peculiar taste buds to appreciate the details in these pairings. Such delicate vibes, yet robust culture! We were seated in a cozy back booth accented with Peruvian blankets with a view of the beautiful bar, live hanging plants and cute alpacas along the wall. Delicious and easy dinner experience. The food was lovely, with hefty portions. I ordered the arroz con mariscos, which was perfect- they did not skimp on the seafood, and it was very flavorful. My friend got the frijol con seco, which he loved. The tuna tartare was also quite good, but the mains were the standouts. The service was very nice and quick, so zero complaints there. The interior is nothing outstanding, but very casual and spacious. Also zero complaints there. We went on a Saturday night, and did not need a reservation (but there is an option to make a reservation). Parking was not super easy, as the street parking was pretty filled, but we managed. The food was absolutely delicious, the steak was tender & flavorful, the green noodles I got with my steak were bold in flavor. The Peruvian signature potatoes that we ordered as an appetizer are super tasty, the sauce is just like you can't get enough of it. My sister in law had the fish ceviche which looked super refreshing & delicious. She enjoyed with my niece, they said it was great. My 3 boys and I all ordered the same dish of steak & pasta , & my boys enjoyed it so much they ordered another one to share afterwards. Our adult beverages were all delicious & and actually tasted like adult beverages, not like some places where you question if you actually got an alcoholic beverage. My cousin ordered the chicken chaufa it's like a fried rice, and it's super flavorful, it has egg in it like a true fried rice should. My mother got the Inka Chicken & was super delighted at how tasty & juicy her chicken was. My niece had a cut steak dish which was super juicy & tender, with delicious veggies. All of the food was amazing & to top it off the service was great. It's especially great when both the food & the service are great, I had an amazing evening & they scared the crap out of me (funny) when they came out to sing happy birthday to me with a dessert which was a scrumptious tres leches cake. I ate at Inka last night and it was a wonderful experience. The mixed Ceviche and the Peruvian Chinese fried rice we're both excellent the fried rice portion was enough for two. The ambience was excellent and the service meticulous and friendly. I wish they had more original Peruvian potato dishes but I get that it's hard to find Peruvian potatoes in North Carolina . My experience overall was just okay, and I'd likely consider other options when looking for food options in GBO. I'll explain more: Arroz con Mariscos - paella style dish with mixed seafood (shrimp both fried and grilled, octopus, mussels, peas etc. The fish was large and filling but did not blow me away or leave me wanting more. Peruvians are known for some of the best ceviche in the world. The ceviche mixto here was somewhat underwhelming lacking more citrusy flavor. The seafood was fresh though, so no complaints there. The Yuca Huancaina are basically like fried yucca balls and a filling option if you're considering sides. Heads up if you're ordering juices - each one is served in a small pitcher situation, so if you're ordering juices for a child - one juice is enough to share for a table. The service was also just okay. My server got several things wrong and wasn't a good resource when we asked questions. Overall if you're a newbie to Peruvian food, this is an okay option. read more

I stopped in for a late night dinner with my wife and some friends. It was four of us total and our first time trying out Inka Grill. When we walked in, it was still pretty busy towards later end of the night but the entire restaurant was packed but we saw an open booth. We were sat quickly and attended. I went with a Modelo served with a cold glass. The host and server were nice and attentive. Overall, the restaurant is casual, trendy, has an upscale vibe. Moving onto the main menu there are many great seafood and steak options. I decided to go with the Pescado a la Chorrillana. The dish comes out with a side of white rice topped with a little garnish and the main dish itself is presented nicely with the fried fish, sitting amongst the grilled veggies sitting in a stew. It is almost like a soup, but the liquid is pretty low in the bowl. I dumped the rice in it and soaked it up evenly. The tomatoes, onions and bell peppers are large pieces cooked perfectly. I didn't really expect to be impressed with the veggies but they stood out. The fish was fried nicely but also had a little tenderness since it was sitting in a liquid. Everything mixed up and balanced out well. I also tried two different types of Peruvian style house made hot sauce, a green and a red. They were just packed with flavor and spice the red being hotter than the green. I was satisfied and I ate every last bite. This is a great place I would recommend for a family dinner or a date night. read more

OMG this place is amazing! An actual gem in the heart of Greensboro's downtown area. Authentic Peruvian food is hard to find in NC but not anymore! My sister's boyfriend who is from Peru loves it here and for good reason. Everything we ordered was fantastic! Everyone who works there is very nice and accommodating (we recently went there with a party of 10 and they put tables together quickly for us with little wait which was very nice. Also have to love all the fun Peruvian touches including murals and art. It's a smaller space but still big enough to sit a large group. The risotto was delicious as well. I would've liked it a bit creamier, but it was perfectly seasoned. The Frijol con seco had such deep notes to the sauce! It was well developed. Inka Grill had been on my to-try list for some time, but my wife and I ended up here almost accidentally when the last food truck festival proved to be too chaotic. I'm glad that we did as it made for a good though not outstanding meal. Inka Grill's menu boasts traditional Peruvian steak, seafood, and chicken dishes, chaufas (fried rices), and ceviches as well as a few Italian-inspired items. There's a lot to choose from if you've an omnivore, but vegetarians may be at a loss here. A complementary offering of toasted corn for the table was a nice touch. My wife and I went with a yucca starter, a frijol con seco, and a lomo saltado. The yucca came in rolls that were nicely browned and crispy on the outside. The accompanying huancaina sauce was creamy and added a welcome bit of spice (which was disappointingly missing from an aji verde sauce). The steak in the lomo saltado was perfectly cooked and flavorful, and its accompanying vegetables were vibrant and nicely grilled. The tacu tacu (a Peruvian take on refried beans) in the frijol con seco was a first for us, and we enjoyed it. However, the meat in that dish was more akin to pot roast than steak, which we were not expecting. Both dishes were also quite salty. Our visit occurred at an off-peak hour (before 5 on a Sunday), and Ismael provided excellent service at the start of the meal. Once 5 p.m. arrived and the restaurant began to fill, however, staff began to seem a bit overwhelmed. All told, Inka Grill, while solid, wasn't quite the "wow" I was expecting. However, the steak at least did reach that level for me, and the breadth of the menu suggests that there are other dishes that can as well. read more

I've now had some really good experiences with authentic Peruvian food in the past few months. The cuisine at Inka checked the boxes and was delicious! The deserts deserve a mention of their own. Nice variety and as strong as you will find in a Peruvian restaurant. The service was strong up front, then absent after the meals were dropped with no check in. This is the reason a one star was dropped and I hate that. The table shared a fried seafood appetizer which was marvelous! I had the Tauco Tauco seafood which was tasty. Portion size adequate, but a few more shrimp would have been perfect. The Pico Sour was totally yum! I was at a table of four and everyone enjoyed their meals. The desserts however were the hero with most offering authentic and made in-house. Especially enjoyed was the Chocolucama served in a jar with an impressive amount of Lucama. The house coffee was super! The bill was processed with no issue. The value was outstanding! There are a few Inka Grill's in Virginia with the original in Roanoke. Was having a craving for Peruvian so wanted to give this place try! Great location, parking can be tricky if busy. The interior is nice and clean. May want to avoid going on a cold day though because when that front door swings open, you will feel it! Was seated quickly. They do electronic checkout which is quite convenient. Menu was fairly clear although some of ceviche options required the aid of google translate. We got the octopus anticuchero, jalea de mariscos, Lingüini verde con bistec, tortas tres leche, and passion fruit mousse. Linguini verde: recommend this international dish! Fantastic light pesto and linguini was well made. Steak was a tad on dry as we had requested medium rare but may have been simply the cut. Octopus anticuchero: Very good! Octopus was a bit on the chewier side but I felt still well cooked. Overall would say worth the try! Jalea de Mariscos: quantity wise, it was a giant pile of fried seafood! If you need to fill your (and like 2 other people's) stomach, this is definitely the way to go! The only caveats I'd mention are that that the mussels were fried on the half shell so kinda hard to handle with utensils, the seasoning was on the blander side (the side of sauce helped but didn't add much variety to the flavor), and it was hard to tell what piece of seafood you were grabbing until after you bit into it. Tortas tres leche: not my thing. Way too sweet, a bit too supermarket tasting and nothing that really stood out. Passion fruit mousse: definitely worth a try! passionfruit is super tart usually so them adding only a bit of it at the bottom and top really helped balance the flavors. The sweetness of the mousse base melded very nicely with the tartness of the passionfruit. Probably one of the better ways I have had passionfruit. read more

The food was simply amazing! Fresh and hot and delicious. The service was okay, not great. They seemed confused on our reservation which I confirmed in person a few days before. Slow in getting to our table of 12. Everyone got served their dinner except me. I think they forgot to put the ticket in. Instead of being honest, they strung me along for 20 minutes before I got my food and everyone else was done. They didn't remove my meal from the bill either. The menu was not long but did have some quite authentic rarities according to one of our group. The paella was good, but the seafood a little chewy. I would definitely return. The value was good. No complaints here. A wonderful restaurant tucked among the shops near the Civil Rights Museum. This is a rainy Saturday night but this restaurant is quite busy most likely because the food is So good as I was soon to find out. We arrived a little after 5pm and by the time we left the place was packed fyi. Bring your appetite if you order the chauffa, its huge, mine was the trio of steak, shrimp and calamari mixed in a bed of rice ( think fried rice but moist and flavorful) served in a large bowl. I was w a party of 4 and everyone raved over their dishes. We ordered ceviche which was on point w raw white fish and large white corn which is good in a nice citrus sauce which serves to cold cook the raw fish. The dish comes attractively arranged w red onion sliced thinly in a mound on top of the seafood. We also had purple Chicha Marado as a drink ,(no alcohol in it) which is a mildly sweet drink made of red corn kernels. Its very good, they made my Peruvian Friend one of their specialty cocktails called Pisco sour. Unfortunately they were out of the Pisco and had to sub whiskey, that was a bit of a disappointment but still good.We also ordered beef saltado it was beef heart steak w fried potatoes which I was told by my friend was very authentic and good, and other friends split a large salmon fillet on a bed of pesto rice. The waiter had a bit of trouble which I chocked up to the language barrier and our american Spanish. We did have a Peruvian guest among us which made the ordering process go a little smoother. We had so much good food but we also got Espresso, american coffee, and a mousse type of chocolate cake w a orange and chocolate frosting of a fruit they call Lucuma that is local to Peru. The food here is absolutely delicious! I love Peruvian food and I had heard such good things about the food here so I had to come try myself! I got the traditional Lomo Saltado which everything tasted great. So good, I cleaned my plate which I normally never do. I also ordered the skinny margarita which was really good. The place was packed when I arrived and it took a long time for someone to come to the door and let us know that they're preparing a table for us, and a lot of people behind me that were complaining about the same thing. I feel like they'd do well with a hostess because the waiters were too busy and they had no one else. Once we sat down though the service was good and the waiter was friendly and efficient.
