My 6-year-old daughter had a sore throat and other symptoms that seemed to fit the bill for strep throat so we went to get it checked. On 8/4/22, my wife went to EMC because they have been in our insurance network and because our co-pay has always been only $75. However, this time, she not only paid the $75 co-pay, but also got billed an additional $125 by a 3rd party lab!! Total of $200 for an urgent care visit!! Same as an ER visit on our plan. We will not go back to EMC!! I would suggest that you ask lots of questions before you get treated here! read more

I said "no ER visits during Covid season," but nobody ever listens to me . When my son gashed his leg open yesterday in a bicycle fall, I was horrified to find out that my regular Urgent Care (a different facility) was welcoming Covid testing patients into the primary waiting room with the general public. I called EMC and found out that they do Covid testing in the parking lot. We rushed right in, and to my surprise they had been anticipating our visit and already prepared a room for us. Everything was so clean with disposable material on most surfaces and give-away hand sanitizers up front. The staff was very kind, and the doctor was engaging with my 11 year old, disarming him totally and helping him forget his fear of the potential shot and stitches. He ended up getting cleaned up and got some kind of human-grade super glue stitches much to his relief. We will definitely return to EMC. Came in for severe sinus pain, I did wait a bit longer than I usually do but it was worth it. Dr saw me and she did an X-ray and gave me a steroid shot. I am so so happy I feel a lot better. I've had severe pain for 3 weeks. Gone, within minutes of leaving the office. Highly recommend this place for urgent care needs! I use to think this clinic was good but after the treatment of my daughter trying to get a Covid test -which took her 8 1/2 hours to get- I know longer would give them a good rating, Mind you my daughter sat in her car with fever and a headache almost two hours. The tech pushed the thermometer under her tongue causing her pain because she has extra bone growth in her lower mouth. My daughter told her to be careful because it hurts and the tech was very inconsiderate and with no empathy. My daughter also told her she had just drank some ice tea and the tech said that wouldn't affect the temperature. So tell me, why don't they have the forehead thermometers like everyone else. (Cheap I suppose). My daughter was also there to get a rapid test but when she finally got her test they said they couldn't do the rapid test. This is the reason she went to there clinic in the first place. She was what they call a walk in but they did tell her she would be seen around 5pm. We called them around 1:00 pm and they said they had had several cancellations and she was number 3 in line for testing. And this took 5 hours to be number 3 in line? I callled the clinic to speak with the manager, but of course they were not there so I spoke to the receptionist in a concerning voice about the treatment she was receiving - she was very pleasant and was trying to console me while defending her staff then she switched me to probably a nurse who was very unpleasant and condescending and would not truly listen to me and hung up on me. Is this how you treat your client? Then my daughter had to wait another 15 minutes to see the PA after her test was done (by the way she is in the parking in her car this whole time) so their clinic can say she was truly examined so they can get their insurance money. And the PA also said drinking ice tea would not affect her temperature "because they put the thermometer deep enough under her tongue" . I have a hard time believing this - does anyone else? Anyway I would not advise going to this clinic - I know my family won't go back. read more

I called EMC after I started having mild upper respiratory symptoms to see if I could get a Covid screen. They were so nice and accommodating. I was able to stay in my car and give info over the phone. The staff came out and assessed me and completed testing. I highly recommend EMC. Went here this morning as I was directed yesterday to get a COVID PCR test. Although a number of people showed up this morning, they were organized and getting information from everyone. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and professional. From the person we spoke with on the phone to take down some information, to the nurse that came out to take vitals, to the doctor. They listened and I did not feel rushed. The test results were back quicker than I was expecting. If I have future urgent care needs, I will definitely use them again. read more

HALF - MEASURE MEDICAL CARE - 2/11/19 my wife & I went in for chronic sinus infections & were attended by the young female PA - who doesn't like Texans because they are too friendly & thinks the Texas criminals are worse than East or West coast criminals (she probably needs medical attention). She is not interested in past successful treatment at this facility for this condition, only asking questions to give a Z-pack prescription or 7 days of an antibiotic, both are inadequate ( Dr. Genco, the owner prescribes 10 days, but, isn't around much). Then has the inexperienced admission clerk give injections & she is shaking so badly the needle almost comes out on both of us. In August 2018 my wife saw Dr. Morris with a constant cough & sinus infection - his diagnosis was allergy, prescribed a cough suppressant that was inadequate - I complained to Dr. Genco & received a 10 day Seftin prescription - infection cleared up. My check-in as a new patient was a one page questionnaire that took less than a min to complete. The info they have on the bulletin was very informative and accurate, as an engineer I'm still confused by healthcare and learned a few new things during my 5 min wait. The nurse checked vitals and an MD not NP was in my room shortly thereafter. To top it all off the doc was the most intelligent doc I've ever dealt with, I'm typically amazed at how little doctor's know (call me a cynic). This place is awesome. It's NEVER crowded (I hesitated writing this review because I selfishly don't want the word to get out!). Doctors and nurses are young and friendly. Even with Care Now's online check in, you're likely to be there close to 2 hours. My husband and I have both been to this place, and have been in and out within an hour. read more

Pros: No Wait! Quick in and out. No ER co-pay! Cons: Dr. was a little abrupt when he came in, scared my daughter a little bit with his quick pace and abrupt questions. (She is only 10). Towards the end of the visit he loosened up a little. I do feel like he is knowledgable and takes care of his patients. May want to work on communication skills with various age levels. read more

The doctor and their staff are amazing! When they say "no one goes inside without a proper negative Covid test" they mean it! The doctor comes out and checks you on the parking lot and does the consultation outside. If you don't mind that, then you will get a proper check up by a good doctor. My wife took my son there to check for strep throat. He was in pain and had white bumps all over the back of his throat. My son has had strep before and these are always the symptoms. Male Dr. looked at him and rudely told him "Not Strep what else?" then told him to stay out of school the next 2 days because me might be contagious? If its not Strep Throat, why would he be contagious? Then told my wife come back in a couple of days we will be here. Sounds to me like they just want another co-pay! Went to another doctor and he does have Strep and received medicine. There is a lady doctor here, that is nice and helpful that we have seen in the past. The male Dr. is rude and not helpful at all. I would not waste my money on this place, you will spend double. No bed side manner at all, I feel sorry for little kids that have to see this guy! read more

Not only did they perform the test, the Dr. spoke to my son and made him feel at ease. I'm very thankful for EMC! I have always gone to this place for sinus infections or sprains, etc. I called and made an appointment for a certain time and they said just be on time we will get you in. After waiting one hour with out not even seeing even a nurse I walked out. There were no patients being seen, no one there, apparently all they focus on now is covid testing. Please let your longtime loyal patients know before you waste peoples time. Also after asking they do not do tele medicine anymore even though they advertise it. Been here a couple times, but the last time will be the very last. I came in for severe stomach pain and felt very dismissed. They pressed down on a few places, told me they didn't think anything was wrong, mentioned to me (again, as they did last time) that I'm an overweight girl and need a better diet. Then tried to give me a prescription for pain meds, that I did not need, and literally told me "if you're that miserable, just take these, you won't feel anything anymore" wow.. thanks.. turns out I had kidney stones when I went to the ER a few days later. And then was diagnosed with Cushing's Disease, which causes numerous health issues including rapid, excessive weight gain, so thanks a lot for absolutely nothing on top of being incredibly rude. read more

My husband and I both have used EMC on many occasions, and I actually prefer Dr. J to almost any pcp I have had in about 15 years. Very thorough, and instead of jumping to invasive, costly treatments, the doctors use a common sense approach to find the best, least-invasive method of treatment that will successfully treat your issue. And I am saying this after I had my finger landed this evening, easily being the most painful thing I have dealt with in my life! Lol read more

I had been feeling faint and was unable to meet with my regular doctor today, so I came to this urgent care. My visit was with Dr. Frank Genco. He took notes while I explained my symptoms and did a thorough check of my body including blood work. He then took the time to look at all my old lab results and explained everything to me. I had a lot of questions and he answered all of them. My primary doctor is also a nice guy but he usually spends the entire time trying to entertain me with small talk, and never tells me anything about what the test results mean. I was in the process of trying to find a new primary doctor which is why I joined Angieslist. That is also how I found this urgent care. I just wish I had done it sooner. Not that price is an issue when it comes to my health, but this place seems dirt cheap even for the labs. They told me it would be $90 for a visit and $40 for CBC? I gave them my insurance card, so my co-pay will probably be like $10-$20. But even if I had to self pay, it seems so low compared to all the other places I've been to. So after taxes and operating costs, I'd hate to ask what the doctors' and staffs' take home pay is. I'm not from here, but the area and place looked fine. Drove all the way here because it had better reviews than the other urgent care centers near us, unfortunately our experience was not on par with most others. We were right at 2 hours there from start to finish, about 80 minutes just to see the doctor and there were only 2 other people there before us. Apparently the med tech who was tasked with giving my wife a shot had never done so before and really didn't want to do it (according to their conversation which we overheard because they left the exam room door open) so my wife walked her thru how to do it before getting poked. This is only our second urgent care experience but overall it was inferior to the first place we went in every way. read more

Love that I found EMC. A few years ago my daughter needed a last minute school physical for volleyball after spending all summer with her dad. We literally got off the highway and pulled in to EMC the Sunday evening before camp started. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes and the cost was only 10 bucks. Since the first visit, everyone in my house has gone to EMC at some point and we live less than 5 minutes from a larger chain urgent care. I dont think i've ever been so rushed by a doctor in my entire life. I was cut off by Dr. Genko multiple times during my visit when i was telling him what was going on with me. I wasnt even given a real diagnosis, my urine was shipped off for testing and i never heard anything after that. The only positive thing I can say about this is place is of their billing department. I called before my visit and was able to pay my co-pay before the visit over the phone so I could get in quick. I just didnt expect to come out as quick as i did, with no answers. read more
