I have come to this place a good bunch of times and never really had any issues before. Cute cats, helpful staff, and I always liked the place. I just did not make the time to go back until they moved from their location on Magnolia. I am not sure what happened, but this was my most recent experience: I called because I was looking for cute sleeves for a 100 card Magic deck I am building for my girlfriend. I asked if they had sleeves with girly and cute graphics, like flowers, happy designs, cute animals, or even Bloomburrow themed sleeves. The person I spoke to was not very helpful. They kept asking what I meant by cute, giving examples like dragons and goblins, despite me trying to explain the kind of designs I was looking for. Eventually they said they had pink and yellow sleeves and told me to come in. I went in later that day but could not find any sleeves with cute graphics. There were some empty hooks that looked like they may have been intended for sleeves, so maybe they had sold out or had not restocked yet. Either way, I could not find what I was looking for. I asked the staff at the register, and they told me that everything on the floor was all they had. I looked around again, but still found nothing. After that, I asked about Magic: The Gathering Commander nights. I am fairly new to Magic and am trying to get my girlfriend into it, so I asked whether they had Commander nights and whether they teach new players or have a designated table for beginners. The person at the front desk looked confused and said, "...you want me to teach you Magic?" I clarified that I was asking whether they had Commander nights and if someone there helped new players. They simply said, "No, no we do not." I respectfully thanked them and was about to leave when I noticed their calendar said "Thursday Night Commander." There were no prices listed, so I checked the Magic website when I got home and found that they charge $8 for Commander nights. I was surprised by this, especially considering that you are essentially paying to play 1-2 games of Magic with strangers over 3-4 hours. Their prices on booster packs also seemed considerably higher than nearby stores. I strongly recommend doing some research on MSRP before buying packs or products here. I am new to Magic, but I have played Pokemon and Lorcana, so I have a general idea of what packs normally cost. This time, I saw prices that were 2 to 3 times MSRP. I do not remember seeing prices like that when I previously visited their Magnolia location, where I bought Pokemon and Lorcana packs and board games. I understand they are running a business and need to make money, and I am not asking them to give anything away for free. But 2 to 3 times MSRP seems excessive, especially for a store that has been a staple in Burbank for years and has such a supportive community. Maybe they need to find a different distributor, or maybe their own costs have increased. Magic has also become extremely popular, so perhaps that is contributing. Either way, I think customers should be aware of the prices and compare with other stores before purchasing. I am not saying nobody should shop here, and obviously nobody is forcing me to buy anything. I just enjoy collecting and playing these games and try to stay within a budget, so I would prefer to pay as close to MSRP as possible. There are plenty of other options, and I think it is worth doing some research before making a purchase. Maybe things have changed since they moved. Maybe I happened to speak with someone on their first day, or someone was simply having a bad day. I do not know. I just hope that if I come back in the future, the staff are a little more knowledgeable and patient, because I left this experience feeling pretty let down and frustrated. What a little GEM!! A very queer friendly hyge game store. They had multiple game rooms for play, tables for play, and entire sections for different types of games. They had board games, solo games, rpg games, card games, any game you could think of it was there. Plus lots of gaming accessories like dice, boards, playing mats, literally everything!!! So I will start off by saying this is my first time coming to this location since the last time I have been, it was still on Magnolia. Love that the space is much bigger so that more people can come together! Lots of space for more merch and games for sale. They have rooms you can book ahead too which is nice. The place is way bigger than the one on Magnolia.. it almost feels a little boggling to walk through the various shared spaces and hallways! Lots of tables. And you can walk in and get lucky with snagging a table by checking in w the person at the counter. But I believe they started taking reservations because it gets so much more packed now with more people coming out. I will admit tho that I really enjoyed when it was still on Magnolia. I jsut liked that it wasn't huge and it felt cozy with the booths upstairs. It didn't seem so daunting walking in, I felt like everything had its place and was easy to navigate. Maybe I jsut need to come out more to the new location but I wish there was a way to section the bigger rooms so it doesn't feel like a cacophony of noise, especially when it's packed. I suppose I'm partial to the first location because I went there so often... this new space feels foreign. But I do enjoy the various rooms, it feels expansive. Just wish it could have some of that coziness from before. And maybe they could have more ventilation because it was quite stuffy in the room we were playing in. There are moments that make being the Dungeon Master worth it. The emotional highs and lows. The triumphs of the adventurers. The look on your players faces when a 22 attack roll misses. Perhaps the best moment for me is getting to end a story. My friends and I played our Out of the Abyss campaign for 2 years and more than 80 sessions and ending it at Geeky Teas made it all the more special. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to add a little ambience to their game spaces or anyone looking for a space at all. Stepping into this local game & tea shop on a rainy afternoon felt like being transported into a vividly realized series of alternate dimensions! From the moment we entered--greeted by a cozy blend of Doctor Who & Christmas decorations--it was clear that this wasn't just a shop, but a meticulously crafted experience! For a modest eight dollar fee, the world of board gaming was at our fingertips. Housed within were gorgeously themed rooms from a mystical fantasy themed forest room with a stunning wooden door to a swashbuckling pirate ship room. The atmosphere was incredibly immersive. We felt a palpable shift in energy entering the eerie séance room with a large round Ouija board table. We were charmed by the wizarding room and the Bilbo Baggins Lord of the rings party room complete with a detailed food mural. While the resident cats were tucked away napping because of the rainy weather, the sheer amount of merchandise & miniature painting supplies kept us captivated. However, the experience wasn't without a brief moment of friction. The serene environment was momentarily punctured by a tense encounter with a staff member, a man with glasses , who sharply corrected us for momentarily leaving the drink fridge a jar for just a few seconds. The atmosphere around the staff felt noticeably strained-- a sharp contrast to the shops otherwise magical atmosphere. Despite the odd flash of tension, the shop remains a geeky paradise I'm eager to share with friends. If you are coming here to shop, you dont have to pay the $8 to enter. The $8 is for Game play or to use the rooms. Each time I come here, I always have to see the kittens! Theyre so cute and they're just babies! Most of the time they're sleeping, but this time, they were playing and eating. They have a very wide range of RPG books and figurines for sale. An amazing place to spend a couple of hours (or more)! I was responsible for entertaining some tweens and wanted to do an activity that didn't involve screen time. This board game cafe was the perfect space to keep them engaged and kept the adults on their toes too since we had to quickly figure out the rules of each new board game they selected for game play. The open area for table top game play was large and clean and you can also rent private rooms. They have hundreds of board games and it felt fairly organized. Staff was friendly and they have a little area tucked away where you can peek into where adoptable kitties hang out. It is also a store that sell board games and loose leaf tea. - Admission price with unlimited game play & in-n-out privileges: $5 pp Mon-Fri if you enter before 5pm, and then $8 pp for all other days/hours - You can bring in your own drinks (non-alcoholic), but no food. There are communal tables, private rooms; some with unique themed decor. They even have a small auditorium space that can be rented as well. The snacks are packed and British themed; plus the loose teas they sell as well. There is no cost to come in and shop at the store. Chose this location to play some board games, was incredibly excited to see the wall of loose leaf teas they had available. The teas were reasonably priced, about $13 per bag. The selection of board games was great as well, many walls filled to the brim and the games were in excellent condition. My experience at Geeky Teas was absolutely wonderful. I reserved space in one of their private rooms for a birthday gathering and they ended up being closed that day to join the nationwide general strike. They rescheduled me, were super communicative, and they fully comped my reservation. They wouldn't take a cent for it even at my attempts to do so and were so kind and generous with me. It's so wonderful to find a small business like theirs that has such astounding integrity. Closing for the strike to involve themselves in their community is beautiful to me, and treating me to the cost of the room truly goes above and beyond any expectations I could have had. So okay; besides that: -the room I chose (Bilbo's birthday room) was spacious, ADORABLE, and has a side entrance where we were able to order food delivery. My friends and I were comfortable and able to let loose and have fun. -the shop is exceptionally clean and well appointed. I found a game mat from my wish list, helped myself to a stunning dice set, and found a bunch of games that I'd never even heard of. -the tea is beautiful. I purchased a bag of one of their blends, Sherl Grey, and it is a clean, comforting, and robust cup. -lastly their staff: everyone I spoke to there was kind, knowledgeable and helpful. Such a unique game shop. I'm honestly not a fan of going to card shops because the people are weird and the vibes are off. This shop however, is dope as fuck. They have a cat sanctuary inside and they have a lot of really cool niche game related art. I saw this sick ass die set that was based around a porcelain cup. This is one of my favorite spots, and I'm glad to see them grow and continue to grow. What makes it work for me is they have a solid game library to select from, they are incredibly well priced, and are a good community spot. They have a welcoming energy, and it's a good place to go with a couple friends to play through some games and spend some time. Their game selection is large enough you can find something to play. Their actual store side is decently large and they have a wide selection of games, ttrpg supplies. I like that there is a coffee shop in house now too. And they have dot Pretzels which are so good. I'm allergic to cats, not deathly allergic, but definitely get irritation and red eye and what not from fur and I have not had issues playing here. That said I do take something (Allegra) before just in case. That's to say even though there are cats it's not like you're going to crazy cat lady home where there will be fur everywhere and if you touch anything then your face your doomed. Parking can get crazy crowded in the front/side, but if you go to the back and walk a little bit there have been spots. I think I've had to wait for a table one time, so it's good to call ahead and ask for a reservation but if you're going to try your luck it might work out still. read more

Hands down the best board game store I've ever been to. Every time I go I am reminded of how lucky I am that it is my LGS. Usually there is some truth to the phrase "Jack of all trades, master of none", however Geeky truly is a "Jack of all trades, master of most-if-not-all". If you are looking for board games, the selection is hard to beat. If you want Warhammer, the selection is equally impressive and covers everything including 40k, AoS, Kill Team, Middle Earth Strategy game, and Bloodbowl. If you are into DnD and role playing, they have an entire separate room. If you drink tea, they make their own. If you want a cat, you can adopt one. And finally, if you need a place to play, they have a bunch of themed and non-themed rooms and play areas to rent for a reasonable price. I don't think I'm being dramatic when I say that this place is a treasure that must be protected at all costs. read more

Geeky Teas is a true gem of a place, I first went (2019) when they were at their previous location. It was great then and is still great now. It is by far the biggest board game store I've been too (only rivaled by Game Empire aka Odyssey Games). The staff is incredibly friendly and the selection of games substantial. As the name implies they do sell tea here and it is quite good! Every flavor is named after a nerdy show/movie/etc. They also have a selection of British snacks that make good compliments to the tea (I am partial to Digestives). Even with the new bigger location the all day pass still remains at 5 bucks and you can use any of the several shelves of games. Lastly I would like to mention the private rooms they offer, I've rented them before and they are quite nice! Each is themed differently and there are several to choose from. I just recommend you book ahead of time if you have your heart set out on a specific room as it may be booked if you wait till the last minute. P.S. I rented the Party Business Room "featuring a beautiful 360° mural of Bilbo's Birthday Party from the Lord of the Rings" for my son's 16th birthday. It allowed my son to have an intimate party with a handful of close friends and everyone had a great time. The mural was perfect for the occasion. I didn't have to decorate and focused on the food, drinks and games. I loved being able to host a 3-hour screen-free party listening to the kids just having a great time socializing like normal kids instead of stuck to their phones. In fact, overall, this is the best feature of Geeky Teas and Games, you have a quiet place to just play games the old fashion way and disconnect from the noise of your mobile phone. I hesitate to write a review about this place because there are things about this store that I enjoy, but the price gouging here has gotten extremely out of hand. To be clear, I've been shopping at Geeky Teas since they were at their first Magnolia location, and I always dug the vibe of the store and the crowd. I mostly bought board games, and they would usually go for a higher price than what I'd find at a big box store (Amazon, Target, etc) but I was happy to be supporting my FLGS and it was typically only 5 or 10% more than what I'd find online or at a major retailer. According to the owners own words, they sell products for MSRP. I'll even attach a screenshot of another review which she responded to that says so. A couple months ago when the Final Fantasy Magic the Gathering set was announced I knew I wanted it, but once again, instead of going through a big box store, I wanted to support my FLGS, so I hit up Geeky Teas and preordered a play booster box, a collectors booster box, and all 4 new commander decks. When I asked the store associate how much that would cost, she quoted me the MSRP I had seen on the official mtg website. When I asked if I needed to pay up front, she told me they weren't taking money for preorders just in case their were stocking issues, so I didn't pay ahead, but as I said, she did quote me on the price being at MSRP. Fast forward to this past Friday when I went to pick up my preorder. Lo and behold, they told me the actual price was now going to be $235 for the regular booster box, $90 for each commander deck, and a whopping $650 for the collectors booster box. The play booster box was being sold as if I was buying each pack individually as opposed to most retailers (even other LGSs) who were selling it for around $185, over a 25% mark-up, the commander decks were marked up almost 30% from their listed MSRP of $69.99, and the collectors booster was marked up almost 43% from the MSRP for 12 collectors packs $455. These mark-ups are insane, and can't simply be attributed to the current tarrif situation. I really wanted this set, and it was too late to find the product anywhere else (especially the collectors boosters which have a limited run) unless I was going to turn to scalpers/resellers, so instead I paid the exorbitant price for the items I preordered even though it was definitely a case of bait and switch. So in the end I ended up paying scalper prices anyway. This will probably be the last product I purchase from Geeky Teas. I'm mostly mad that I was told one price and expected to pay another when I showed up, if I had known that ahead of time I would have preordered elsewhere. I hope the ownership takes notice and changes their business practices. It feels like they've forgotten that the F in FLGS stands for friendly, and these are not very consumer friendly practices. I want to support local business, and I understand they have a higher cost of doing business than big box stores, but this sort of price gouging and misleading behavior is unacceptable. *Note in the images provided I payed with 2 forms of payment, hence the two receipts read more

I came for a game night meetup. There is a $5 cover charge to play. They don't serve food but I did see some drinks to purchase and possibly snacks. It was a wonderful space. They have a plethora of games to play and to purchase. They have private rooms (I believe you have to call ahead to reserve) they have 2 resident cats and currently to the are trying to find a forever home for. The staff were friendly and helpful. I called a couple of cat rescues who never got back to me and a colleague of mine suggested Geeky Teas & Games. So, I called the store and spoke to a wonderful lady, Donna. What do you mean??! A tea shop that doubles as a game store that also does cat adoption while simultaneously being a safe space to play TTRPGs !?! Literally was in awe as my friend toured me around the space to see all the different rooms with their uniquely, perfectly decorated themes. My only regret is that I only travel with a carry-on so I didn't have the space to fly back with bags upon bags of cool dice. However, I did walk away with a Critical Role shirt so that's pretty cool. Would it be wild to move back to Burbank just so I could be a regular here? read more
