Sea Lions from the boat's view

This was a really fun ride. Captain Ryan made the trip really funny and interesting! He was very polite and nice to everyone in the boat and even gave us all a chance to steer and drive the boat! Next time I come to San Francisco, I'm going to take this tour again and I want to bring more people along. Thanks for making my trip memorable and awesome :)

My kids and I did the 30 min tour for 15$. It was so fun and the kids (9 & 7 years old) had a blast!! Probably one of the best adventures of the day. The kids got to drive the boat for a min and the captain made them laugh and feel totally comfortable. I highly recommend this adventure for anyone looking for a fun, cheap and memorable experience while in San Francisco.

Waiting! Perfect night for a boat ride!

Everything was fantastic about this boat ride! While we were eating our Dryers ice cream, we sat down on a wooden platform just behind the booth and heard the call for the 30 min boat ride. $15 for adults and $10 for kids. We figured it was a great end for our son's 5th birthday. From the start Capitan Ryan was a terrific guide. He wasted no time getting us boarded safely and moving. With a lot of comedic flair, he kept us engaged from the time we casted off and all through the trip. The trip included a close look at the resident sea lions and a great look at SF lit up. Although we are locals, it was still fun excitement for the evening. The rocking boat and waves gave us a light thrill to end the warm night. The kids and adult Hams all got an opportunity to take a photo op with a Skippers hat steering the boat. It was a wonderful treat for my boy as Captain Ryan led a sailors birthday song in honor of his birthday! Arrrr! Totally Awesome!!

One guy waited in the distance for interested tourist for a $10 boat ride with a small print out of things to see on the boat ride. The actual captain arrived after dropping off some people from previous ride. The staff is quite friendly although the ride wasn't quite what we expected. It was probably a good deal though. The boat went around the dock rather than closer to the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. Thirty minutes went by quickly as the Captain talked and steered around. We got an upclose look and sniff of the Sea Lions. The boat ride didn't make me nauseous but toward the end of the ride I did make my stomach start to feel a little uneasy. So I got off at the right time. The photos were a little misleading on the "brochure" as far as how close they were captured. I would recommend this to families and anyone who want to try out boating for the first time. Optional to wear life jackets.

I just recently took some friends to Pier 39 and we took the Emerald Lady Boat Ride. This 30 min ride was fun, informative and just $10 per person. It felt like our little private ride! Since we were 10 people and the boat just about 15 people max. My kids and our friend's son had a blast, sailing the boat while wearing a captain's hat and even got the sailer's sticker !!! The ride gets is close to the sea lions, the world war boat and you will definitely get a closer view of Alcatraz. I will highly recommend it !!

    Adorably lazy Pier 39ers.

The Emerald Lady boat was very beautiful inside and outside. Captain (Michael) was super entertaining and explained about the features seen from the boat a lot. I was so excited to see the sea lions so close and was even more excited to have steered the boat. You cannot have this experience at anywhere else, I believe.

The Golden Gate was 1 hour, and the Bridge to Bridge was 1.5 hours. The Bridge to Bridge has few times, so check their website to find one that works for your schedule. On the boat, there is a bar, popcorn, and snacks you can buy. There is a bathroom, although I didn't use it. There are several floors and the lowest floor with the bar has tables. As you enter, if you need the narration in another language, get the headset. By default, over the loudspeaker is English. The first boat trip I did was more crowded on the top deck with more people talking loudly, so I missed about 1/4th of the narration. The volume was never too loud or painful, but with people talking loudly, you will miss it unless you move closer to the speaker. Biggest tips: Wear a jacket and dress warmly if you plan to sit on the top, open air deck. It is extremely windy. Also, having a hair tie is helpful, so you don't have hair blowing in your face. It can be pretty smooth but by the Bay Bridge, the wind makes the water rougher, so you may want to take a motion sickness medicine if you are sensitive. Staff was friendly from the ticket booth to the people at the end telling your goodbye. Nice boat tour!

This took about an hour or a little longer. You go under the Golden Gate Bridge and then pass by Alcatraz on your way back. We had actually purchased our tickets through another company and couldn't find much information about where we were supposed to go or what to do when we arrived. The Blue & Gold Fleet staff were incredibly helpful and worked with us to figure everything out and get us onto the boat at the last minute. That customer service really made a difference. Once we got on board, we headed straight to the top deck so we could get the best views. Definitely bring a jacket because it gets pretty breezy out on the water, even if it's warm on land! The cruise took us underneath the Golden Gate Bridge and all the way around Alcatraz, while giving us views of so many of San Francisco's iconic sights. It was such a great way to get introduced to the Bay and learn a little about the history of the area. The narration is done through an audio recording, and that was probably my biggest complaint. It was sometimes difficult to hear because there were so many people on the boat moving around, talking, and taking pictures. I found myself paying more attention to the views than the narration. But the views were absolutely worth it! I got some amazing photos, and being out on the water gave us a completely different perspective of San Francisco. For the price, I thought it was a great experience. It wasn't overly expensive, the staff was helpful, and it was such a fun and relaxing way to start our trip. If you're visiting San Francisco for the first time, I definitely recommend getting out on the Bay and seeing the city from the water!

A major pro tip is that while they tell you to arrive about 15 minutes early, you should definitely come 30 to 45 minutes early if you can because people start showing up early to snag all the great seating spots. Overall, the time on the boat was very comfortable, we got to see a lot of cool things, and they have some tour info that plays in the background. The only thing that saddened me was that there were no available trips to Alcatraz. I believe they only had one trip per day at 10am, and my group would have absolutely loved to go. I would probably look around to see if there are any other Alcatraz accessible boats next time, but if they added more time slots in the future, I would love to try them again. The boat also sells snacks to enjoy at a reasonable price and has restrooms you can use. Ultimately, I have no complaints other than the lack of Alcatraz trips.

We boarded the boat at 5:30am and departed exactly at 6am after they checked all of our fishing licenses (so make sure you buy yours online prior to the trip). We were allowed to bring our small Yeti with breakfast and drinks. There is a restroom in the boat which is kept clean and accessible. I caught a large striped bass in which I was able to get cleaned and cut to take home! The views of the city were beautiful and the surrounding areas like Alcatraz and Angel Island. Caution to those of you who have never ridden a boat smaller than a ferry before, I would test your stomachs on a shorter ride first, such as the water taxi that goes between piers before jumping on a 2.5 hour boat ride in open waters. We did ok. However there were several people who lost their breakfast, kids and adults alike. If you get motion sick, I would suggest pre-gaming with Dramamine. Per the ten year old: the dogs were adorable! they stayed in the cabin for most of it, but I mean, that's what they do their work. we saw tons of whale spouts, and even in a few whale backs too. definitely going back.

Very knowledgeable, extremely easy to talk to, and more than happy to play photographer.
