Stumbled upon Emerald Lawn Care while looking desperately for a way to avoid my lawn being the laughing stock of the neighborhood. The lawn had everything: weeds, creeping Charlie, and wild violets. Bad. After an informative and short assessment of our lawn, we decided to go ahead with a number of applications. Three services in and I am pleased to report that the weeds are mostly dead, I don't see any wild violets, and my grass is green once more. I have been a customer of Emerald Lawn Care since 2005. When I bought my home my yard was full of grubs and crabgrass. It was a mess! Mark and his team put a plan in place and handled all fertilization, aeration, weed control and got rid of the grubs too! Before I knew it my yard looked like dark green, plushy carpet. So happy! We moved into our new home last year which was newly sodded. However, after a blistering summer and cruel winter, our lawn suffered from harsh conditions. My lawn has never looked worse. I called about the abundance of weeds after several treatments and they came out and did another application. I then ended up with bare spots were everything was killed. Eric came out and looked and told me he would supply some grass seed. Two weeks later no seed so I email him. Emerald isn't a franchise, and they don't use hardball or high pressure sales tactics to try to upsell you like most of the franchise businesses. We pick the services we need, nothing more and nothing less. They are always available to answer lawn care questions. Mark is very helpful and patient with my relative ignorance about the science - and it is a science - of lawn care. We almost thought about switching to Tru-Green when they gave us a very low priced quote but I'm so very glad we didn't, they started with the badgering phone calls and wouldn't stop every day for weeks. I can only imagine what to expect if we were actual Tru-Green customers. No such nonsense from Emerald. Our lawn has some issues that are tough to resolve due to soil and shade but I think we're getting the right custom treatment plan for our situation and they never push us to add more. read more

Emerald provided the best service for me as potential client. As first time homeowners, my husband and I did not treat our lawn properly last summer, so it looked diseased and patchy before fall. I called Emerald this spring to see if they could come out to treat the lawn, but I had several concerns and questions for them. Mark, who is truly a lawn expert (and very nice person), came by and answered all of my questions. He gave me tips for how to treat the lawn ourselves and repair the damage we did last year, and he provided all of this advice free of charge! Mark also emailed me the list of tips we discussed and told me if I could not manage the lawn care myself or if the tips did not do the trick, to give him a call and they would come treat it professionally. He saved me a lot of $$, and my lawn has really bounced back based on his recommendations. Absolutely LOVE THIS company especially after finding out it is a small business!!!! After owning a landscape company for 30 years that did fert/herb as well, never thought I'd find one good enough after re-locating. This is our 3rd season with Emerald. A neighbor recently pulled up as I was doing yard work in front of my house and asked who did our lawn! They were not happy with their current applicator. Love the discount if paid in full for the year. Absolutely appreciate the informative tips and observations they leave regarding any other issues such as blade height we should use, etc. Gave some great advice when consulted them that Helped us get rid of those nasty "ditch Lillie's" in our back yard. After searched for a while to find the lawn service company for my rental house, Emerald lawn Care entered into my radar screen, I compared lots of details: service, price, available etc, I finally decided they are the winner of my extensive search, they have been in the close communication with me(primarily by email) since, and they send me the report and pic whenever they stop by which is a big plus to me. First off, let me say that this company is excellent. After utilizing some of the major lawn service companies (Scotts and TruGreen) I realized that I was paying a lot more for less attention to the lawn. When I first met Mark, he came by the house personally and did an evaluation of some concerns we had (weeds, dollar spots, bent grass). He did this all on his own time and didn't charge us a penny for advice on how to handle the issues. Needless to say, we went with Emerald and now our lawn now looks incredible. The best part about this company is that they are local and use much better products than the major chains. I am not one to write reviews, and while many who feel this way, they break that lack of writing, motivated by vengeance. Sometimes justified, sometimes not as some people are absolutely nuts and have ridiculous expectations. I am not a spiteful person and when that happens, I call the business and inform management of their blind spots. Anyways, every now and then I feel those who go above and beyond deserve recognition. Emerald is one of those rare businesses that deserves this. Mark is a punctual and passionate owner what he does. I always get immediate call backs or emails. I never feel rushed on the phone. Emerald does not pressure its clients into sales or BS rates/confusing plans with changing rates and introductory garbage. Straightforward and honest. Most of all, the results work. I am a DIYer, but when you do the math, you are going to spend about half on product, the other half is so economical thats its just worth your time to not have to deal with timing the weather around work and 'remembering'. They are a good family owned business. A relative of mine saw the Scotts technician walk around his neighbor's property and left an invoice that he treated the lawn, gone in 5 mins, although nothing was done. A patient of mine had security cameras that showed the driver of Scott's running over his mailbox. They denied everything, until he laughed and said, "I have it on video!".I acknowledge this is on the unlikely end/isolated incidents, but a big company like Scotts or TruGreen is too big to care about doing a good job and maintaining a 2 way relationship of loyalty. There is not quality control with the employees. Emerald is the opposite of that and has proven this to me and the friends and family I have referred to.
