I used Emerald Lawns last year and my last treatment was in December. My grass only kept on getting worse and worse. the tech only wanted more and more money and expensive treatments. I did the Winter soil conditioner($59.54), Lawn Harmonizer and weed barrier ($59.54), fall root zone feeding ($70.36), Topdressing and aeration ($406.34), Lawn stress reliever ($59.54) Grubworm control ($89.41) and on and on. I spent a few thousand dollars and I just ended up with dried up, burnt grass. They fried my grass! After all that they still continued to come and bill me for the service. We've been using Emerald Lawns since 2008 at our original house and I have to think we're one of the first few hundred original customer numbers they have! That day Luke came out personally and surveyed our previously unmaintained lawn (previous owners) and made it look like a golf course in a few months. I remember he even noted while looking at some concerns we had about a few weeds that he could kill that just by giving a mean look - it worked! Fast forward to 2016 when we moved into the next house and we still utilize EL today and have had tremendous results. They are are great at not just the human touch but identifying trouble spots we may have noticed in our regular lawn overview and correcting them. Communication is very thorough and they are consistent with arrival and delivery. The liquid aeration is paramount as I recall in our old house the old aeration practice of piercing the ground broke an irrigation pipe the irrigation person didn't bury low enough - don't need to worry about that now or erosion bringing those pipes to the surface to be at risk. Great people first, amazing company second. Partner with them with confidence. And not once, ever, has my gate been left open where my dog got out. I know that's a big thing for us pet owners. Please do NOT waste your time or money with this company. We hired them to do 2 treatments of Roundup on our ditches in the New Braunfels area. Ryan said it would keep grass from growing in the rocks of our ditch for about a year. Not only did it grow back within 2 weeks, there were some areas that never died. Almost $600 for nothing. Then my wife talked to the office and they said they would have Chris call her. Never heard from him. So I called their office and they told me Chris would call me and I still haven't heard from him. My wife tried to contact Ryan as he was our original point of contact and he has never answered her calls or returned messages. In my opinion this company is a scam. Stay away! read more

I hired them for fertilizing, weed control and ant control. After the last service I had with them in early summer, they fried my lawn. I immediately expressed my unsatisfactory experience with them. I got the run around and they continued to bill me for the service. I continued to communicate with them about what happened and that the charges should be adjusted/removed. I then received letters from a collections agency that they had sent the bill to them. I sent an email stating that this needed to be resolved. Finally - months after they burnt my lawn, a manager shows up unannounced. He began taking pictures and I told him that it had been months and my lawn has been repaired since the damage. He assured me that he would zero my bill out and remove it from collections. It is now almost a month later and I have received more bills from the collector. The manager - Chris- will no longer respond. Today I called the office once again and this time asked for a regional manager. I was told the VP of the company was Aaron Carter and he would be calling me. Well, a quick search shows that Aaron Carter is the customer relations manager. Not the VP. Clearly, the lack of professionalism and the lying runs throughout all departments is in this company. I posted a comment on the FB page and they quickly deleted and blocked me. So now, the headache they have given me dealing with this can be theirs also. It would have been very simple to handle this professionally, address my concerns and resolve it quickly. Today, I had my irrigation system assessed and repaired by Sean, who was an excellent technician and did all the repairs and adjustments on my sprinklers. The pricing was excellent. Sean answered all concerns and explained how the system works. I was not able to be at home for the appointment, but my son was able to stay and Sean gave me all the break down of the cost over the phone and on my approval did the repairs. When I came home i saw the work and was very pleased of the work. Now as I'm writing the review, I'm outside enjoying my sprinklers knowing that now I'm going to have beautiful green grass. I've been with you all for several years and have had multiple techs but NONE as courteous and attentive.   Whenever I see weeds popping up and alert her she takes care of them...and trust me it's been a challenge.   I never felt heard before and that's why I almost cut the service.  It wasn't helping. We've been using Emerald Lawns for a couple of years. Most recently we received an irrigation audit. It gave us piece of mind after the winter storms to know our system was in good shape. We had one small break they repaired. They also programmed our system with a watering schedule specific to our lawn's needs and left us a written copy of the schedule. We also use their monthly plan for lawn treatment and tree/shrub care plan. We've received compliments from neighbors about how weed free and green it is. Their plans are flexible, you're not locked in to a contract. This is why I first decided to try them and have been very happy with the service. I don't have time for calls during my work day so I like how they leave a message to let me know what day they'll be by. And if I need to contact them I either email or leave a message with their after hours service. I've even texted the techs before. Great service for busy people! read more

Highly unethical business. I wanted to share a very negative & time consuming experience I just had with Emerald Lawns. They contacted me in mid May looking to start service at my new home. I agreed to 3 out of 4 offered services. I received a bill for all 4 services. I was told that I had agreed to all 4 and now had to pay for them. I have wasted hours talking to their business in an attempt to resolve this. I received a letter from a collection agency last week for the $80.00 bill (the service I did not agree to). I have chosen to pay the bill to avoid risk to my credit and battle this in small claims court, BBB and through other means. I had no idea the customer could just be forced to pay a bill for services they did not authorize. This is very upsetting that a business can continue to bill even though the service was not requested or approved. I hope others can learn from this bad experience. Rudy is an outstanding employee and I have nothing but praise as the whole time , what I have been asking for is an open line of communication between the parties requesting the service and the parties servicing. Emerald does a great job at keeping the lawn weed free and green (provided you water and mow as appropriate). I enjoyed their website and their service recap with the products they use. The techs were always on time, respectful, and easy to chat with. However, the products they use don't do anything to build up the soil or truly allow the lawn to be naturally healthy. They use liquid only applications, which are quickly used by the plant and do nothing to build long-term soil health. I enjoyed using their service as a new homeowner and never had any issues with their service, but eventually took over the lawncare myself so I could focus on building long-term soil health. If you're not a DIY'er and don't want to spend the time and effort, I would highly recommend them for a great looking lawn. If you want to become a lawn care nut; you'll eventually want to take it over yourself. read more

Ryean Colby did an OUTSTANDING job servicing our sprinklers and more importantly training me on how to correctly operate our Rainbow sprinkler control system. He also expertly 'educated' me on the types of sprinklers we have on each of our zones and how they need to differ from each other depending on what types of plants/grass they're sprinkling. In doing all of the above, Ryean also showed me how we can save a lot of water and $. Because I had forgotten to ask him yesterday, at my request, he came back again this morning and quickly sourced a leak and fixed that. We've been using Emerald Lawn with great satisfaction for all of the almost 8 years we've lived in this home. Ryean's expert knowledge on irrigation, his communication skills, training ability, work ethic, personality and politeness speak volumes for his character and how very well he represents Emerald Lawn. Had been using them for a couple of years. They used to be great but they have started indulging in shady practices recently. Firstly they started advertising on the lawn without consent. Secondly, they do not respect postponement and will try to push for a service prior to the agreed upon date. Recently they started notifying us of an upcoming service just a day before and that too late in the afternoon. This leaves a very small window for rescheduling. These practices leave a bad taste in the mouth and i would not recommend them going forward. read more

We've used Emerald Lawns for years now. In addition to taking care of our yard, their customer service is exceptional. Their technicians go above and beyond and do "little" things like blow leaves off the porch when they're done working. These "little" things tell us how they approach the "big" things -- like applying fertilizer, weed and pest management, aeration and even managing our holiday lighting. They also take social distancing seriously, which is an added bonus. Today, our technician Silvestre Salgado took the time to explain our aeration treatment and exactly what was being done. He was especially helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. Additionally, Brooke H. is always very helpful with helping us add services, schedule service and answer technical questions about treatments. Good company, their chemical really works. They uses a nice blended top soil and liquid aeration, so no damage to my sprinklers. Friendly technicians that service your yard, but after a year (15 months), have not seen the results I was expecting. They've come back out to retreat and the results are still the same - weeds, pale looking, no improvement. Finally gave up when I asked to speak to someone other than the technician for help. I was looking for someone that didn't just want to sell me up, but rather someone who could help me understand why the yard wasn't getting better after 15 months. Called the office and they told me they would get a manager to contact me. Got an email from Rudy, their resolution specialist, a week or so later who told me over email that he would get the area manager to contact me. A few days later, someone called while I was driving and asked if I wanted to talk to a manager, I said yes and then the call ended. After a few days, emailed Rudy back and he responded that Jesus had called me twice last week on two different days. I don't know who Jesus is, was that the area manager? Office, Rudy, Jesus, who is the person that would be able to help? Went ahead and cancelled the service. For what they charge, you don't get the results you expect. I just wanted a weed free yard. Last year I called several times and got excuses like the technition diluted the week killer too much. They kept saying we'll have a manager come out to meet with you. I kept getting more weeds and no manager ever kept an appointment. The final straw was when I got a warning from the HOA to do something about my lawn. (I will HAPPILY pay the $186 if you actually do your job that I'm paying for). I also did NOT authorize services to continue in January as I was specifically told to resign up in the Spring for what I wanted. Shady business practices. No transparency on billing. Zero follow through on the supposed "customer service". I was very happy with the results and used them for 3 years. I have had some concerns when I might get an occasional weed here and there, but all I needed to do is call customer service and they would send someone out to take care of it. At the end of 2018 I discontinued my service thinking that i could take care of the weed problem myself. Boy I was wrong and the weeds came back with a vengeance. Horrible service! I have paid--and then paid some more--for services that were, in my opinion, done so poorly that there was no benefit, or perhaps even worse. One example: I paid more than $500 for lawn aeration, but there was no way to tell if it had been accomplished. And about two weeks later, when a different service team came out, they told me that grass wasn't growing in one spot because it needed aeration. What?? I guess they wanted another $500 to (not?) do it again. I've communicated with different field teams, managers, and customer service, each of which promised to fix things, but nothing was done. I have begun to communicate with a legal expert to attempt to resolve this financial fiasco. read more

This is an update to my original rating of Emerald Lawns. I contacted Aaron Carter of Emerald Lawns to discuss my concerns and issues with the condition of our lawn. We arranged to meet at the house so he could walk the property and decide what should be done. The meeting was very informative and productive. We decided to do the next scheduled service and see if things improved. The service was done a few weeks ago and fortunately, we received some much needed rain. Bottom line, the lawn looks great, it's thick and healthy with just a few thin spots near the road. A technician was sent to the house a few days ago to inspect the condition of the lawn. He didn't find any problems but did add fertilizer to the thin areas to help stimulate growth, no charge. I am happy with the results and very impressed with Emerald Lawns excellent customer service. I can now say that I have one of the nicest lawn in the neighborhood, thanks to Emerald Lawns. read more

I am updating my review after the owner, Luke, reached out to me by phone and truly listened about the previously ongoing situation. He seemed to sincerely care about the negative review and was willing to do more than I expected to allow him to change my opinion...and tbh, the review. He wants to be successful and that means satisfied clients. He offered a couple of free treatments. The treatments were effective. The service program itself appears to be very good. My mother's lawn, in a nearby neighborhood, is near perfect. I feel the problem was with the technician. We asked for a different tech but the answer was no. So we made sure we were here when he came to do the treatments and make sure he hit all of the areas which was a huge problem previously. It all worked out. I'm willing to move forward with Emerald Lawns again in good faith. Customer service is of the utmost importance and the owner made things right and was respectful doing so! read more

When I called them to come help take care of my yard, I had very view weeds, just wanted the help to maintain and grow the yard. But now my yard is bare and full of what I believe to be crab grass(which I was told by them it was winter rye). When I had a manager come out to look at the yard he continually tried to tell me things I should be doing with my yard, which I responded with "yes, I've been doing those things." I asked "when your technicians come out to spray the yard and other work, if they see something I should be doing, are they supposed to report it to me?" The response was, "well, yes." But I never got that. With the terrible customer service and treatments I now I have to spend a lot more money to fix the mistakes and try to get my lawn back to where it was.
