We sat at a high top table with good views of several TV's. Our waiter promptly greeted us and gave us an over view of the place. We had a few Guinness with some very good appetizers. The curry fries were very good and I would suggest ordering them but light on the curry, a little too soggy. Guacamole, salsa and chips were good but the wings were a big hit. Wings are crispy and had great flavor. Our entrees included the flat bread, a deconstructed burger, fish and chips, and a brisket cheese sandwich. We all really liked everything. If you are a beer fan like me, you will be pleased with their beer selection on draft. They have, in my opinion, one of the best beers in the world. This golden miracle comes from Belgium and is called Affligem. I strongly encourage you to try it. Other than that, lots of classics you would expect on draft such as Blue Moon, Guinness and all common American watery beers. Aside from a great beer selection though, the reviews and ratings for this place seem to be very accurate. I would love to say something nice but my experience was not anything outstanding. However, I have only visited once, so I will probably give the place another try and see if it is any better. After all, the beers worth the comeback. Other than that, I do not have much to add to the reviews here, overall this place is not a bad to visit but it is also nothing special and super cool. To me - everything - from customer service to food was three stars that Yelp describes as "OK". A little tip for non-meat eaters, I really liked their Spinach and artichoke cheesy dip, but they do not bring enough chips with it so you either have to order some extra chips or you can do what I did - I got side pita order and I think it was much better with pita than with the greasy tortilla chips. read more

This place was recommended by a nearby hotel and it was terrible. Ordered the corned beef sandwich without cheese and asked what else came on the sandwich. Waitress said she'd check with the cook but never came back before the food. Food arrived with the brisket sandwich instead. They switched it out and the corned beef sandwich came completely bare on thick dry rye bread. I asked for thousand island or saurkraut or any type of accompanying sauce and they offered yellow mustard. Just awful. Located in downtown Chicago, this dive bar was located right around the corner from our hotel. We arrived at the hotel around 12am, so both bars inside the hotel were closed. The snow was coming down and we were expecting about 5-10 inches tonight! That wasn't going to stop us though, and through the blizzard we went. The inside decor and outdoor patio are great vibes but unfortunately the service and quality of food does not match. I have been three times now, going back to hope I maybe just didn't order the best item. Their happy hour drink menu doesn't really offer any great discount. There are better bars in the area to go to for happy hour if that is what you're looking for. Food wise, I have tried the Poutine Fries, Fish & Chips, Brisket Grilled Cheese, and the Tomato Bisque Soup. The Poutine Fries seemed to have sat in the windows or under the barely warm heat lamp for too long. The cheese was hard and difficult to eat with the nearly room temperature fries & gravy. The coating on the fish was flavorless and soggy- but their fries are a solid 10. The Brisket Grilled Cheese has a small slice of brisket. Paired with the Tomato Bisque Soup- it was watery. We were seated fairly quickly in a booth in the back next to two smaller tables. They were some close quarters but it was fine. Service was pretty good for a packed Thursday evening. Food was your typical Irish fare bar food. Chicken wings, Turkey club, mini cheeseburgers (harder than a rock) and a corner need sandwich. I came here originally in 2019 and was blown away by the food and it left me wanting more. A pandemic and 3 years later I made my way back for the worst service experience I've had recently. Our reservation always for 5, arriving 10 minutes early and was seated promptly. First waiter comes by at 5:10 and asks if we've been served, we say no and order drinks and an appetizer, curds and soup. The food and drinks arrive from a second waiter about 10 minutes later and I can say I've never had French onion soup that cold before. The broth was actually cold, the cheese was rubbery and luke warm, and there were no onions at all. The warmest thing was the cheese curds and even those tasted microwaved and left out of a few minutes. We asked the waiter for more napkins, and 5 minutes later a third waiter came over with napkins. At that point, not wanting to waste any more of our time and money, we paid our bill and left for a much better and warmer meal at Chipotle. For a spot being right off the river on Wacker, and for charging the prices that they do, you would expect some level of competency when it comes to serving food warm and being prompt on welcoming guests and taking orders. But it seems as though this spot has forgotten that over the last 3 years. If you go, expect bad service. Save the time and pick a different spot. read more

I really want to give them more stars, but the food was not great. And with all the other food options in Chicago, I don't think I'll be back. Spinach & artichoke dip: We had a free appetizer coupon. My dining partner has a gluten insensitivity, and there weren't many gluten-light options, but they did allow us to switch out the tortilla chips & pita with the spinach & artichoke dip for vegetables at no cost to accommodate a gluten insensitivity. However, the plate and cast iron were piping hot which was deceiving as the dip was room temperature. Sweet chili sriracha wrap with kettle chips: Again my plate was super hot compared to the foot on it. The wrap was actually delicious, but the chips were more than underwhelming. Simply put, they were stale. Blackened grilled atlantic salmon: Just more echos of the above. Super hot plate. Lukewarm food. Even the "pan fried" brussel sprouts were soggy which didn't help the dish with all the other soggy vegetables that came with it. Always looking for a positive, I did appreciate the nice holiday decorations. Also, apparently the owner is actually Irish, not just another restaurant owner trying to play off the Irish pub theme. I discovered this place from a happy hour. They have good margaritas and mojitos and are a good, low-key place for a weekday happy hour. I came back a second time on an evening with my husband and a friend and had an equally great time! We went on a Wednesday evening for dinner and it was actually pretty packed. But no wait for a table so that was good! We ordered some drinks and wings. Their wings are so good! They have good sauce options and they had great flavor and crunch. We also got their parmesan fries and they were also packed with flavor and lots of cheese. Dim lighting and overall dark interior, so it's pretty hard to take pictures with people or see people super well. Great service though! The drinks took a while to get to the table but the bar was very, very busy with the big game. We all ordered something different. A salad with no chicken, Mac n cheese, the Mac Piggy and the brisket. All meals were amazing!! I ordered the Mac Piggy but was wavering between the mussels and the Mac Piggy. Our waitress suggested the Mac Piggy and I'm glad I went with her recommendation!!! The mac and cheese was delicious but the toppings made the dish!! There were large chunks of andouille, bacon and salami. The bowl was quite large and very filling! The brisket was phenomenal but I felt there was a little too much sauce. The meal came with a corn bread that was fried on each side - OUT. OF. THIS. WORLD! I think I could have eaten the corn bread for days! Although food was good, my second bloody sat at the bar staring at me for 10 mins. I could have walked up and gotten it myself! Enjoyed a little work get-together at Emerald Loop; happened to be the Thursday before St. Patrick's Day and so the place was packed. Fortunately, we had a reservation. We had to wait a bit, because we arrived early, but we got our table at our reservation time. The beverage options are pretty good. The apps were also good. The cheese curds were good, the truffle seasoned fries were OK, etc. For dinner, I had the veggie burger, which seemed to use a pattie which was made in the restaurant and not one of those frozen ones. It was pretty decent. All-in-all, it was a good experience with good service and I'd recommend this place for the wide varieties on both beverages and food. read more

Disappointing, not impressed. Most Irish restaurants I've been to pride themselves on their links to Ireland. I've been to some that claim everything in the restaurant came from Ireland, such as the seats, tables, bar, etc. I don't know how authentic this place is, but something about it didn't really feel genuinely Irish to me. The placemat at the table indicated that this restaurant has been here for a long time. When I looked at the menu I wasn't really seeing a lot of authentic Irish dishes... maybe a couple, but not many. It is a bar after all, so I decided to get a burger and we also got fish and chips. I think the burger was around $14, and it really wasn't good. I've paid $14 for burgers elsewhere and they are considered gourmet burgers. The burger I had here was equivalent to a $5 somewhere else. I definitely wouldn't go back or pay $14 for their burger. The fish and chips was just ok, but not that great. I expected more from an Irish pub on Wacker drive. read more

Horrendous service and tasteless food. Staff was clueless. Ordered coffee and had to ask three times for cream and sugar. Ordered soup and the server thought it was supposed to be served with the main course. Staff was standing around not serving the few customers present. When the food finally came out after over 30 minutes (because we asked), the server handed us a hot plate and burned us. They never brought ice to help the burn and their version of apology was taking $5 off the bill and then hovering over to watch the tip. The food was acceptable. Nothing to write home about but it's a good meal that will fill you up when you're hungry. The major reason we went and ate here was that it was right next to our hotel. The other restaurants we were interested in were across town or a $10 uber away. I knocked off two stars for our experience at this restaurant. First, they were blasting mostly top 40 music in an Irish style pub, that was filled with mostly older businessmen. It felt super out of place. Additionally, we had to flag down our server on several occasions to grab another drink and remind her several times about the condiments she said she'd bring. I don't mind waiting a little bit to grab the waitress, but once our food came she basically disappeared and we had to ask a busser who flagged a different server to grab our check. We waited 25 minutes before doing this! All in all, the convenience of the place being near many of the hotels is probably why this got 3 stars. As long as you aren't in a rush or so tired you're passing out at the table - the extremely slow pacing of staff taking orders or checking up on you probably won't matter. read more

My husband said his falafel had the consistency of a cow flop and he found the taste most unpleasant. So sorry that with all of the places we could have eaten, we chose this one. read more
