Don't be tricked and read recent reviews. Rating should be much lower. Walked in for an early lunch behind the only other group just before us. It took awhile for the one waiter to come to us. We could also see only one cook in the kitchen. Took exactly an hour to get our food. While the waiter and cook were trying their best, staffing is was a problem. And the food is nothing special. Pressed, processed breaded chicken patty with minimal toppings. Fries are also nothing special. Hushpuppies were also nothing special. Wow- this far exceeded my expectations! I was dying for a salad. I sat at the bar and chatted with the bartender, Kiril. He said his favorite was the kale and I asked to add some garbanzo beans but they did not have any. So I asked to add black beans and it was one of the best salads I've had in ages. Food was ok. The service was good. The dessert was TERRIBLE. Ordered the Starwberry Shortcake, which per the description is supposed to come with citrus macerated strawberries. The strawberries are not house made and were exactly what you find at a BaskinRobbins in a red syrup. The shortcake wasn't cooked all the way through. NEVER coming back just based on that. This was our first time at the Copper Fox. We were within walking distance and it had good reviews. I wanted to make sure it was kid friendly as we had our 5 and 2 year old with us. The kids menu had cheese pasta on it but the noodles were not the same as what was described on the menu so that threw us for a bit of a loop. We ordered the truffle fries to start - surprised that they were steak fries but they were actually pretty tasty! The shrimp and grits was good- the grits reminded me of a loaded mashed potato; they had a Smokey flavor from all the bacon in them - I would recommend. How disappointing! We stopped by as it shows over 4 star review from hundreds of people. We just wanted a simple quick bite as we have big dinner planned. I chose the 7 layer salad as the picture from the owner looks beautiful, it is really 7 layers!! The actual dish is nothing like that! It is just a regular mixed salad dish. We asked the server, she denied that this is a dish from this restaurant, while I showed her the picture shows from business owner and the address match... While I understand that the picture might be outdated sometimes from customers, but if the photo is from the owner, you probably should update it if you changed the dish!! Then there is the service. The restaurant is empty when we showed up. We thought it might because it is 2pm already so lunch crowed is gone. The server tried to sit us on a corner while there are so many nice seats there. We requested a more comfortable seating. After a disappointing meal, then we waited for a long time to get our bill as the server was in a different room doing something herself. We had to go grab her. She dropped off bill, then she disappeared again. We had to once again to get up to find her... with just one customer on the house, I can't imagine how busy she is for paying no attention to her customer. Here for brunch on a Sunday. It was not overly crowded around 1:30 pm. The two of us ate at the bar and enjoyed a Tequila Sunrise. Kary, the Bartender, was friendly and thoughtful in his interactions, offering relevant conversation. The atmosphere is chic and classy with comfy high-back couches and chic chairs, as well as granite counter tops at the bar. In terms of food, I ordered the Italian Sausage Hash, which had roasted bell pepper, caramelized onion, vodka cream marinara, smoked mozzarella, and sunny egg. A side of toast also accompanied it. The food was fresh, hot, and served quickly. The Italian Sausage added just the right flavor! The bathrooms are gender-specifc, clean, and well-maintained. We went to the copper fox for brunch on Saturday. The restaurant wasn't very busy when we got there and we were sat immediately. First thing I noticed was under our table was a bunch of food, and a few tables around us were empty but still dirty with all their cups and dishes. Not a great first impression. We ordered the Brussels sprouts and crab hush puppies to get started. A friend of ours joined after we ordered the hush puppies and she had a couple, then later we told her they were supposed to be crab. She had no idea because there was no crab flavor or indication there was crab on the inside. The Brussels were undercooked and some were slightly raw. For our meals the table had Italian sausage hash, huevos rancheros and the breakfast sandwich. All of the meals were very underwhelming. The huevos rancheros was basically an egg on top of some beans/corn/tomatos. The Italian sausage in the hash was ground so you barely knew it was there and the sandwich was very soggy and the fruit served with it was on the verge of being bad. I had to pick out some of the rotten blueberries and strawberries. I didn't eat any of the sandwich aside from one bite. Our server kept disappearing, we wouldn't see her forever. I saw her sitting in a random seating area playing on her phone. We had to have the busser find her multiple times. Overall the meal was not good, and the prices gave the impression you're eating at a high class restaurant (over $120 for breakfast) very disappointed to waste that much money on a meal I didn't eat. read more

After scoping spots for dinner, we landed on Copper Fox. We should have looked a bit more, as when we arrived we noted it was the lobby restaurant bar at the Courtyard Marriott. Not really a big deal, but hotel spots are always hit and miss...and Copper Fox was a bit of a miss for us sadly. While we were out for dinner, we decided to just have a cocktail and appetizer here. We bellied up to the bar and the bartender was friendly, welcoming and helpful. We both had cocktails, a Luxardo cherry mule and a gin and tonic. Both were not that great. For the appetizer we first went for the biscuits, but the bartender shared that they are not that great and recommended the crab hush puppies. The hushpuppies were good in theory and had promise, but they were fried a bit long and came out very dark. Overall, room for improvement for sure. The space is gorgeous, and service was excellent...but drinks and food left us a bit disappointed. read more

Stumbled upon this charming spot in Chicago while staying at a nearby hotel--couldn't have been more convenient location-wise with several hotels within walking distance. No rushed vibes here either--the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxed, exactly what we needed after a long day. This is one of those low-key gems you hope to find when traveling. We had a group of 5 and it was only brought to our attention at the end of our meal when the bill was dropped off that they are cashless and that they could only split the check with 2 cards. This was not on the menu or posted anywhere at the table or entrance so that we knew ahead of time. The server was very apologetic but it would have been nice to know once we sat down. Unassuming little pub tucked away in a Marriott along the mag mile. Clean, open, not overly crowded. They have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast is the typical fare--biscuits, eggs, meat, frittatas. Lunch is sandwiches (burgers, steak, clubs etc) and salads. Dinner is similar to lunch. I had the burger and fries. The burger was juicy and cooked medium as I asked. The fries hot and crispy. I had a mule, their signature drink. It was fine, but a little sweet for a mule. I also had foxy n' famous, a pineapple and mezcal concoction. It wasn't bad, but didn't wow me. The bartender was the only server at the time I visited, but she made sure I always had what I needed. Started with serving my kids spoiled milk. My food was served cold. I was given a cup of fruit , a good portion of the fruit was bad. My wife's food (pancakes) were inedible. The Copper Fox is a upper-mid scale gastropub located in the heart of Chicago on St. Clair and Ontario St, inside the Courtyard by Marriot hotel. I was meeting a friend here and was able to set it up as a great meeting place for us. While I did enjoy my time at the Copper Fox, I can't say that I left with a desire to come back. The Copper Fox does not really have a stand out setting, a cozy feeling, or the true Gastropub feeling, to me. This truly feels more like just a restaurant attached to the hotel, rather than its own separate amazing place. While their main meals (I got the chicken sandwich and my friend got the burger) were phenomenal, the side of fries and chips were very lack luster for the price tag of the meals. I will say that the Biscuits absolutely make up for it for their flakiness and utter pillowy texture. But at the end of the day, the Copper Fox being a gastropub does not really fit the actual feel inside or by the service staff. Gastropubs should be just as friendly and welcoming as a regular pub, but with bang up food and beer to go with it. For now, there are just too many other places to go before coming back to Copper Fox. read more

We did not have a reservation, but I expect that reservations might be required during peak times on the weekends. Im not sure why this has good reviews. Even adjusting expectations knowing it's a hotel restaurant, it was a huge disappointment. We went for lunch one afternoon and the service was barely adequate, the food was almost inedible, and very expensive for what it was. My husband and I each tried a soup - both were way too thick to be soups (more a paste texture), lacked flavor, and were not even hot (not even warm). Despite leaving my soup basically untouched, no one asked if I liked it or comped it from the bill. We split a turkey avo sandwich which was described as having roasted heirloom tomato" on it - it did not. It was sliced garden tomatoes, no roasting whatsoever. The turkey was gross and the avocado spread was brown. There was one thin piece of turkey and one thin slice of tomato on the whole sandwich for $20. No thank you, will never return here. read more

Horrible experience, my partner ordered a wine and they were out so they recommended the red wine Petites Petites (which was not a la carte) and throw up and was felling dizzy. We contacted the restaurant and an Hispanic manager didn't care about our experience and didn't want take any responsibility. Even worse he lied to us, he was supposed to call us back after talking to his general manager and never did. I do not recommend to go somewhere that will make you sick and don't even care. Really poor quality and generally flavorless food. The "nachos" was cold potato chips in a thin, cheesy soup. The steak sandwich extremely mediocre as well. In our search for nearby food we found this place, and upon seeing they had a free biscuit basket special going with Open Table we made a reservation for 1pm. When we walked in I told the guy who created us we had a reservation and he replied, "As you can see we are pretty full. I can put you here at these couches" While this wasn't ideal we had just got off a plane and needed to eat so we said ok thinking we'd at least get a drink and a snack while we looked for Somewhere else to go and eat a real meal as eating a meal at the low couch tables isn't really possible. When our waiter came over I mentioned the biscuit deal and he said he didn't know anything about it and walked away. I assumed to check but when he came back he didn't say anything about it and just took our drink order. We waited a few more minutes thinking maybe he just placed that order but alas we never did see the biscuits. Props to the amazing team for making this experience for the event manager, aka me, smooth and easy to book their room and get them in and seated very easily. They also did not uphold crazy high minimums for room dinning like all other restaurants with private rooms around the city. It's attached to the Marriott hotel just off Michigan. Came here for breakfast. Everything we ordered was fantastic. Breakfast burrito is a must try. Their handmade salsa is fantastic. Coffee was remarkably tasty too. Would definitely make this a must try for breakfast. read more

I went here after Beatrix was too full over the weekend in River North. We ordered coffee which was a bit lukewarm (the refill was fresh and piping hot as it should be) and a chorizo hash. My friend ordered a classic American breakfast of scrambled eggs, hash browns, and a side of sourdough which came with your standard Smuckers' jam in classic diner rectangular packets. We came here a few years ago and the food was great and we loved our experience. Their menu is diverse and I remember their burgers being very good. We were with two friends this weekend and decided it would be a good place to walk into. Mind you it was at Patrick's weekend so we knew everywhere was a little hectic so we were elated when we snagged some last minute reservations. When we arrived the hostess told us that it was reservations only (we saw at least half the restaurant was empty tables). I let her know that prior to walking in we made a reservation for 1:30 (it was 1:05) and she told us we could wait at the bar. When we went to sit at the bar to have a few drinks she told us we needed to move to the hotel lobby area. We sat there for 20 minutes, unable to order drinks or appetizers, watched no one walk in, with tables and bar seats still empty, and decided to leave. We felt so unwelcome and like we were an inconvenience, and there were many other restaurants within the immediate area that had open reservations so we went elsewhere. Again I've had a great experience with the food and drinks here prior so those past experiences would be rated way higher, but I cannot get over the icy and rude reception we had. read more
