Very nice atmosphere but the food was plain. It was not bad at all, it was fresh tasting but plain. The salad dressing on the Caesar really needed flavor - it tasted like water. The Irish nachos were cooked fine but super plain as well and kind of dry. Again, it's not that the food was bad, just plain. Great place to drink beer and watch a game.

    Great pub food! (Apr 2026)

Timothy O'Toole's is a tasty Irish pub and sports bar on a corner in Streeterville - Near North Side, Chicago. We stopped in on a Friday midafternoon (May 2026), and found a moderate crowd, good food, and good service. For starters, we had perfect calamari. Crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. It went well with the medium-spicy salsa they provided. This is already a win with any cold beer and any game on their many tvs! We would definitely it get again! We had their shepherd's pie: really flavorful Guinness Irish beef stew under a deliciously creamy layer of parmesan mashed potatoes, nicely crunchy on the outside with a lightly toasted top, and Irish soda bread. Delicious and satisfying! We loved the pastrami reuben sandwich, and we're not even big fans of sauerkraut in a sandwich. But in O'Toole's version, everything came together in a perfect union - the pastrami, the thousand-island dressing, the sauerkraut, and the griddled marble rye. We deliberately left off the Swiss cheese, and maybe that's the trick (for us) to balance the sauerkraut? Well, it worked nicely this way. We were still there towards the end of their weekday 3-6pm happy hour, so we got the $9 Chicago Handshake! A shot of Mälort & an OldStyle chaser! "Mälort-face" free of charge!

Let's just start with WOW! I'm in town for a conference. Same conference I've been to before and I drive by it telling myself that I'm going to eat there this year. Well this is the year! I was so excited that I was the 1st person in this morning. The bartender, Lisa was amazing. Just a quick PSA, before posting a picture of someone, please ask before posting! If you get a chance, please ask for her! Having read a previous review, I knew I had to have the Ruben! As you can see, it's piled high with corned beef! The fries were delicious! Trust me. There were other options but if you're a true Ruben fan, you'll order it whenever you get a chance. Total success! If you never heard of Man Vs. Food, one you missed a great show. The filmed an episode here! They knew what they were doing filming here! The staff is fantastic! The atmosphere was perfect! Not too loud which helps with the bar bantering. Stick a pin in this place and experience this place!

Nachos--birria is not worth the price

Stopped in on a Sunday evening after a movie around the corner. Started with a round of beers/mocktails. The server was great. She seemed busy, but was very attentive and had great recommendations. I went with the nachos with chili and black beans. They did accidentally give me birria, which is usually a $7 up charge. Personally, I didn't like the birria, but the nachos otherwise were pretty good. The salsa was also pretty water and lacked flavor. My friends got the buffalo chicken egg rolls and the teriyaki bowl. The egg rolls came with a spicy sauce was that absolutely delicious! It didn't really go with the Buffalo chicken egg rolls but it did go great with my nachos. The teriyaki bowl was like overly sweet and sticky, but lacked any other flavor so I probably wouldn't order this again.

First time ever here and the food was great! We decided to stop here cause it was the only thing really in walking distance with the kitchen still open once we finally were able to eat. We were greeted with a warm welcome at the door and the server was very friendly and checked on us often. The interior was loud - obviously it's a bar! But that's too be expected. However, we enjoyed the atmosphere and it was clean and had lots of seating options with several TVs and good music. We tried the pretzel trio and we inhaled it so fast!! The pretzels bites were more like light bread sticks than dense pretzel dough and I really loved that. They were lightly toasted and just the right amount of salt. I loved ALL the dips. The beer cheese was tangy and the honey mustard had just the right bit of sweet and sharp and the brown mustard was perfectly chunky and funky hahaha I absolutely loved the house made chips that came with my birria grilled cheese and the consomme was so yummy I could have drank it straight. The meat was flavorful and well cooked. It paired really well with the sourdough. Would definitely come back!

I've been here a few times and have never had a bad experience. Typical sports bar with lots of TVs and seating. They had a chicago dog special, which was surprisingly good.

Sooo Timothy O'Toole's Pub was our final stop before heading to the airport. It's a downstairs pub with plenty of seating and that classic pub vibe. Our server was very nice and made the experience easy. I had to go for the wings, and my sis grabbed a burger, both were solid choices. Definitely a good spot for lunch or to catch a game. What we ordered: Wings = Cooked well with a good sauce Cheeseburger = Very filling

Pretzel Trio, 10 Bone in Wings
    Christine H.

We got the birria grilled cheese with tater tots, the pretzel trio with ground mustard, honey mustard, & beer cheese, & 10 bone in wings (half honey sriracha, half chipotle bbq). The birria grilled cheese was a huge miss. It had dry & bland meat, was soggy, had little cheese, & desperately needed salt. Tater tots were good and crispy though. The pretzel trio did not taste like pretzels. It tasted deep fried like a donut. That's not my thing but if it's yours, you'll like the pretzel. The crispy bite with the pretzel was satisfying though. The beer cheese was bad; it was grainy, bland, & separated. The best thing here is the wings. Decently sized wings that were meaty and fatty. They had an okay selection of wing flavors but nothing too remarkable. I went during March Madness. Theres a lot of TV screens with varying sizes and lots of seating. Service was very good. Our waitress was attentive. I'd come back again for fun, but I'd just stick w the wings next time.

All-American Smashburger & Garlic parmesan fries

Great smash burger & Strawberry Tequila Mule! Garlic Parm fries were good, but a little greasy. Wish I had tried plain, next time! The Dubai old-fashioned was also delicious! Cool vibe too & service was great!

Standard, cookie-cutter chain restaurant. The interior is dark and dingy, but it is as expected. There is no shortage of TVs so I can see this being a place to catch the "big game" or March madness. Service was good and the food was okay. Again, this is a good option if you're in a pinch and in search of bar fare. We ordered the onion rings, fish & chips, and the impossible burger.

Timothy O'Toole's was a solid, no-frills spot for classic bar food. Setting: Lively sports bar with an energetic atmosphere. Service: Friendly and efficient, especially during busy hours. There are some nuances if opening a tab with the servers vs the bartenders so keep an eye out for that. Food: Yes, the tenders were crispy and satisfying, the garlic Parmesan fries were indulgent, and the mule was refreshing and well made; but the ranch?! Top tier. Loved it!

    10 Bone in Wings
    Kyle C.

A lot of reviews state, dive bar or something like that, what else did you expect? Went for the reviews on the wings, and they almost lived up to it. A lot of broken bone wings so that's disappointing but the sauces were good and ordered extra crispy and they were. If you can handle spice, get Irish Ghost. Pretzels were fine, the trio dippers is needed. Fun atmosphere, great sports bar. Service was good even during a busy masters Sunday.

Fish tacos and Speakeasy burger sandwich. Garlic parm fries
    Erin C.

The ambiance was nice, you get the feeling of entering a pub. The food was pretty standard bar food, but done well. We sat in the bar area, service was food and they had a good selection of local beers.

I followed that up with Melodious Maibock and ordered the CBG burger with fries. I didn't have lunch so I dove right in and forgot to snap a photo. It was a very good smash burger. It was cooked well and I really liked the combination of pickled onion and caramelized onion. I didn't see it until later but you can add bacon. As much as I loved this burger, bacon would totally take it up a notch! I started chatting with the bartender about their different beers and decided to have the Super Melodious Jalapeño Maibock with the burger. It's soooo different, but in a good way. In fact, I don't think I've ever been spoken to so rudely at a in my life. From reading other reviews, it seems this is the norm for this particular server. To their credit, it appeared that the restaurant was understaffed in terms of servers. However, it's unacceptable to speak to customers that way. Finally, there was an issue with the food. I ordered a beef pot pie with potatoes on the side. The potatoes came very quickly, and were delicious. Unfortunately the rest of my food and my dining partners' food did not arrive until at least 10 minutes later. Checked out this hip looking brewery. It certainly is one of the many places to go to in The Loop…read more Industry Ales is a place that has a lot more than just beers, which is a good choice, because there's all kinds of people who crowd in and want to have fun times. Amazing that fun isn't always beers and chugging. The food is actually good and can be talked about in reviews because some people actually come here to eat, which tells you how they actually have a kitchen. Believe everything is good here but we came for the beers of course. It's certainly the main product made here so why wouldn't it be important. They make more than you can believe which is impressive because there's all kinds of crowds who pass through. For sure everyone wants beer. It's $6 a pint at happy hour. Pretty great for craft beers compared to lots of places it seems. Best one we got was the Bucket Hat. This is a Belgian style witbier. Has notes of bubble gum, coriander, and orange. The food isn't an afterthought so get some of that. It's about $18 for a burger. Vegans have options. Certainly one of these is the Veggie Burger. This is an amazing thing with a spinach patty topped with chipotle tomato marmalade, cremini mushrooms, mixed greens, pickled red onions, and sweet potatoes. All on a fluffy ciabatta bun. The rest of the menu contains meaty stuff. For sure it feels like a place for the hipsters but it's pretty great for anyone. It's located at the intersection of Jackson and Wabash close to lots of fun. The brewery has food that's better than expected but many other things about this kind of stuff are typical.

We both got flight flights and then I had a avocado Caesar salad salad with chicken and my husband had a Smashburger. We ordered my daughter chicken burgers and fries of course lol. Everything was delicious and we would 100% go back.
