Such a great experience! After a couple quotes from general contractors that were expensive and after countless trips of me staring mindlessly into the void that is the window section of Lowes and Home Depot (trying to choose a door on my own per request of the contractors) I was finally burnt out and ready for some real help. I was so glad I was able to fine a company to help make changing out my sliding glass patio door simple and painless. They were very reasonably priced for installation and I liked that they used Milgard products. They didn't bombard me with options and sent me a couple that I could choose from. After choosing my door, it took several weeks for the door to be ordered and installed but I am so happy with how it looks! I upgraded the handle hardware and appreciated the kind office staff who answered all of my questions and helped me choose the right options for me when usually large purchases overwhelm me. The installation team and the man who came to do the estimate were all very friendly and professional. The price was competitive with other vendors around the area, and I was able to utilize the EWEB loan program for window installation. The process was easy as the initial visit to measure and select windows was quick and easy, and the installation itself was finished up in a day. The trim and finish work that was installed with the windows could have used a bit more of a fine touch, but nothing that can't be fixed when I do the trim painting. Emerald Valley Weatherization's phone person should be fired. I decided to give the company a second chance, based on a revised proposal which I submitted to eWeb and which was approved by eWeb. Tried to call Emerald to schedule work today. As usual nobody answered and as usual I had to leave a message. A couple of hours later, while I was on an international call which couldn't be interrupted, Emerald finally called me back. I could not be interrupted, but as soon as I finished my international call, I called Emerald back. Same thing . . . no answer. I left a message to call me. She called back to tell me that they would have to SEND ANOTHER ESTIMATOR WHICH THEY DIDN'T HAVE UNTIL 8/4. TODAY IS 7/20. I was NEVER TOLD at the time they submitted their revised estimate that they would have to send a second estimator to do the estimate over again! When I objected, the phone person told me to choose another company because I was rude! She must have read my 7/6 review in which they had scheduled a visit but didn't cancel for several hours after the employee was supposed to be here. She said she "forgot" to cancel that employee's appointments for the day when he called in sick that morning! I had missed work, waiting home for a visit that never happened before she "remembered" to do her work and cancel appointments. If Emerald continues to employ her, they will find that they lose business as a result. Very nasty lady when she called me rude. I didn't call her any names or anything objectionable. I just objected to the almost non-existent level of customer service. FIND A MORE PROFESSIONAL COMPANY is my advice to all prospective customers. read more

At this year's Home and Garden show there were more ductless heat system installers represented than anything else. I was generally turned off by pushy know it all attitudes except for Rob, one of Emerald valley's installers, who took the time to explain the systems without overwhelming me. I was glad I chose to have them install my ductless system, which went perfectly smoothly from start to finish. In a few hours it was installed, I had been tutored on how to operate it, and the place was left clean as a whistle. I hired this company to install additional insulation in my home earlier this month. They are wonderful to work with from the appraisal to the completion of the project. They arrived on time, were professional and made me feel very relaxed and comfortable. I had a lot of questions which they answered clearly and with patience. They are honest. I had them check under the house as well as the attic. They could have said everything needed work, but they were clear that some spaces were already well done. They assisted in the contact with eweb for some energy savings reimbursement. The day of the install, they were on time, friendly and efficient. My project took two full days due to multiple skylights and very tight spaces they had to work in. Never a complaint about the challenges and always in good spirits, I was very impressed. They finished on schedule and cleaned up the mess that comes with any home upgrades. I have yet to see a new utility bill, but my house feels warmer and gets warm faster and stays warm. I had them install new windows in my house. Overall they did a good job and were friendly and helpful. My beef with them is how they left my house. They left mud on my bathroom wall (from putting their muddy foot on the wall during the process of removing the old window). There were and still are shards of GLASS all over the outside of the house; in the driveway, in the yard, etc! Granted, my house was slightly under construction for remodeling, but we had to clean up after them! read more

Well where do I start????? I used this business a LOT this last year. I had them remove a bunch of single pane plus the "inside" insulated windows throughout a normal sized three bedroom house (rental). Then had them install brand new R-30 double pane windows and a sliding glass door. EXCELLENT work! Then, decided to have them do the same for another house (rental). Both jobs were done with high quality workmanship and a clean jobsite. They worked well with my renters and both families are super happy with the new windows. Both say the new windows made the homes very quiet and are confident it will be easier to keep warm this winter. They also said the windows slide smooth and are well fit. Just recently, I had two custom windows installed by this company in my home. The installer was very thorough and friendly. His work was that of a skilled craftsman. He left a spotless work area as well. I did my due diligence looking for the best glass installer in the area. I checked with other property owners and did extensive price comparisons. They came out on top. I'm glad I used them. In fact, I have another house that will be needing to have a window upgrade throughout this coming summer. Any guesses who I am calling? :o) read more

This March my wife and I went to the Eugene Home and Garden Show. There were some seven vendors there selling ductless heat pump systems. We called five of them to come out and give us bids on a two head system. We asked each to bid on the EXACT same system by Daikin. The bids had a $1400 range from the lowest to the highest. Emerald Valley was the lowest price of them all. When two of the big HVAC companies did their bids their bids they went out of their way to say DO NOT GO WITH AN INSULATION COMPANY. They then went on to describe the lack of knowledge, poor installations that they often had to come out to fix, and a range of other reasons why we should not use the lowest bid. What a bunch of nonsense these guys spouted. Mark from Emerald Valley came out for the installation and did a great job. Our house has had even, comfortable heating both upstairs and down for the first time since we bought it. Mark took great care to explain in great detail exactly how the system worked and the workings of the remote control. The city building inspector came out and said that everything looked great. The bottom line here is that Emerald Valley did a great job and the "big HVAC" buys were all full of baloney. Save yourself some money and get a great system, professionally installed with Emerald Valley. read more

Emerald Valley performed a complete replacement of the 20-year old white vinyl windows in my 3 BR 2 bath 1950s ranch style home. This allowed for an upgrade to a more modern clay color window frame, addition of grids to upper half of 7 single hung bedroom windows, and replacement of single hungs with sliders at: kitchen sink window, bath, shop and to bookend picture windows in the living & dining rooms plus new French slider patio door. Not only do the windows looks great, they were installed when the company said they would be and the workers were super considerate and tidy. I initially hired this company because of their willingness to listen, offer opinions when asked, provide prompt responses & their very reasonable estimate. The final cost matched their estimate and I plan to request their installation of a new front door as soon as I can make ANOTHER decision. Then perhaps on to a weatherization assessment . . .? If you want a great company that doesn't waste your time or theirs & delivers as promised - this is one of them! read more
