Had 5 windows installed in our south philly row home this fall. Great experience from start to finish. Nice people on the phone and they scheduled a person to come out and do an estimate very quickly. Paul was nice, patient with all my questions but during and after the appointment via email. He got me the estimate quickly and then came back out again to do exact measurements for the final estimate. Again, just very helpful throughout the process. Waiting for the windows took a while so I think we did end up waiting like 2-3 months between that visit and getting them installed which was the only negative of our experience. Installation team was fantastic. I think there were 3-4 people there. Ed was in charge. Just nice guys, we felt comfortable having them in the house. Cleaned up very well. Everything looks great and very professionally installed. Kept us updated with some random things they found (rotting wood) when reframing the windows. Again answered questions anytime we had them. On time both coming and leaving. Cost seems reasonable for what we got and from speaking with friends but I'm no window expert. Planning on having them come back out next year to finish the rest of the windows. Good experience overall. read more

Emerald Windows has done it again -- another round of high-fives to both Louie & Ameon! I knew a windows update to my home would be beneficial, but I underestimated the overall impact. It feels like a major home renovation. And in a lot of ways, it was -- the last three windows that Louie and Ameon expertly replaced for me turned out to be fully rotted around the frames, unbeknownst to me. As with the previous job, they handled everything with extreme care and attention to detail. The house was again spotless when they left. I felt like I was in great hands throughout. Just excellent. Check my reviews for my criticisms of trade work. This is a fantastic company. They were originally recommended to me for window replacement, but their lead time was too long. This is my regret. I went with a lowes install for seven windows. Total nightmare. I hired Emerald to repair two broken balances in a 6'x7' window. Ryan from Emerald was the tech. He identified the broken parts and tried to source them. They had to be custom made due to the size of the window. Well, Ryan wouldn't let the three week lead time stand. He went back to the shop and removed the EXACT pieces needed from a floor model window and installed them for me. He saved me three weeks of time, a few hundred bucks, and a lot of stress. And he did this in one day. I was so happy that I sent him home and told him I would vacuum up after him. He kept insisting, but I said no. Thanks again Ryan. I will be hiring Emerald again when I need some windows, and I'll patiently wait the several month lead time for excellent work and service. read more

I would not use Emerald Windows. Emerald has done window for many of my neighbors in my neighborhood. My neighbors seemed to be happy with their work, so we decided to get an estimate for our window replacement. A representative from Emerald Windows came to our house to do measurements for a estimate. Two weeks after the visit for the estimate ,we did not hear from Emerald Windows. I called twice got no return phone call. I emailed once got no reply to my email. It is 35 days later no estimate no phone call no email. I found this behavior to be incredibly unprofessional and irresponsible.. I am not sure why the people at Emerald Windows would treat us in such an inconsiderate and unprofessional way. I can only guess what set us apart from our neighbors . My time is valuable to me and if this company did not want to do the job, or work with us for what ever their reasons were, they could've simply let me know. And we would have been happy to move on. So, I would not recommend them. My house is similar to many of the other homes in the neighborhood where they have worked so I have to question whether or not they had a problem working for us for other reasons. read more

Just before Thanksgiving as the weather was beginning to get really cold, one of my windows would not close. I called Emerald Windows because once before I had a problem after a contractor from another company broke part of a window and refused to even acknowledge my calls, emails and texts. When I contacted Emerald Windows they were amazing. They responded quickly and made the fix. This time was no different. Corey came out the day before Thanksgiving. The issue with the window was more complicated than he originally thought. Even though he was on a tight schedule and was supposed to only be working a half day, Corey patiently worked for more than an hour until a temporary fix could be achieved and the window was closed tightly against the cold. Emerald Windows will always be my go-to place for anything to do with windows. All of their staff have been kind, competent and more than reasonable with their pricing. Emerald Windows did a great job. Very responsive in getting me an estimate and scheduling. Three windows were leaking, one badly, the other two intermittently. We ended up replacing one and caulking the other two. This seems to have handled the problem for now, which is what I wanted. I think their pricing was fair, market rate. I like my new non-leaking window, as well as the way it looks and functions (tilting panes for easy cleaning). They were very thorough in their inspection of all three windows. Update: the owner reached out to make the issue right as best as he could which was very much appreciated. Initially had a great interaction with Todd at Emerald windows. I had a niche request for sound proof windows that he seemed to be knowledgeable about. I ended up getting two very expensive windows after discussing the options. The install went smoothly, in fact the best part was the installers. The windows did provide some level of soundproofing and I was happy about that. Unfortunately after installation I realized that the combination of low e and very thick glass caused an extreme green tint to my room which I could not get used to. The low e feature was never mentioned nor explained to me. I had no experience with it as all my other windows are clear. I mentioned my dissatisfaction to Todd and he came out to check. He agreed that there was an extreme tint and the room was made very dark. He said that he would order some samples of other types of windows and that they would fix the problem. I reached out multiple times to check on the status. Several months passed and the samples never arrived. I reached out one last time and explained I was willing to just replace them with essentially what I had previously and never got a response. I'm really disappointed to write this as I think they would be a great company to work with normally but in this case I was left with a big bill and windows that I was not happy with. Communications were always prompt, and once the window choice was made Juan contacted me to set up an installation date. The crew arrived on time, and both Gil and Corey immediately introduced themselves. The bathroom window I needed to have replaced was original to the house. Thus, instead of a three-hour job the installation took a day. With each phase of removing the old window and installing the new privacy window, Gil and Corey adapted to the situation with expert care. Had a single window that needed replacing and Emerald handled the job very professionally. There was a problem that caused a delay, but Ryan, who handled our replacement, went above and beyond to take care of it as soon as possible. I was grateful that they sent out a technician very quickly as my windows would not close and were letting rain in. However, nothing was really done about them. The technician closed the windows with a suction cup, but the alignment problem was not even touched, so I cannot open the windows again without my own suction cup to pull them back. I was told that he would have to consult with his boss as he didn't really know what to do, and that I would hear back that evening or the next morning. Fine. 3 days and a voicemail later, no contact from their end. Disappointing. Paid $95 callout fee for basically nothing. Bought a suction cup for 10 bucks and now I guess I have to figure the rest out for myself? read more

I had called about 10 other window companies for my single window job before I found Emerald. They were fast and responsive and very organized! They communicated well at every step, and even squeezed us in a little early since we were a small job when they had an opening come up. It surprised me that in a city like Philadelphia, I couldn't find a single window contractor on Yelp that wasn't a large franchise company. So, I did it the old fashioned way... Google. What I came up with was Emerald Windows, among other window/door contractors. Low and behold, they came out today to install a single window in my home... A.) The original estimator was clean-cut, professional, knowledgeable and on time. He made some solid recommendations and had the estimate out exactly when he said he would. The estimate was detailed, he sent the company site where they order their windows from and made great recommendations. The price was also fair and competitive. B.) The two guys who came out were also on time, clean-cut, professional, friendly, clean and quick. They even made some recommendations for our front doors, which we'll be sure to call Emerald on when we're ready. Nice "up-sell" guys! C.) Emerald's reputation as a long-standing window contractor in the area with humble beginnings made our decision very easy. Plus, they installed some windows in Elfreths Alley, one of the city's most historic sites (my wife is a historian). Emerald Windows is a First-Rate operation. Let's face it, new windows are an expense proposition so I spent several years getting estimates and trying to find a company that put my mind at ease. My job was extremely complicated. Each window seemed more impossible than the next. Several of the companies I called for an estimate didn't even want to attempt the job. The project included (1) Large Bow Window, (7) Double Hung Windows, (2) Sliders, and (1) Steel Entry Door. Each of my windows offered unique challenges that seemed unfathomable to conquer. You see I live in an old row home in South Philly. And my home had some very shoddy do-it-yourself window installations and home renovations done I'm guessing 3 or 4 decades ago leaving the house in a very bad state. When I saw that Emerald Windows seemed to have experience with old homes in the city I gave them a call. Their sales guy Jay came out to work-up an estimate and immediately put my mind at ease that they had the ability to do the job right. Next, Paul came out to do the final measurements and again he reinforced the fact that the installers on the Emerald team could deal with every issue. And they did. The job took 4 days with the installation team being headed by DJ for the first two days and his older brother Brandon on the final two days. Now to be honest I was alarmed when I saw DJ. He looked so young that I made a snap judgement that I was in trouble here. I was dead wrong. DJ is a true craftsman. The man didn't flinch when I showed him one of worst installations in the house. Nor did he flinch when he pulled off one of the header boards and was hit in the face with a ton of rubble and brick dust. He's a true professional. Every widow DJ touched was done with precision. I'm still in shock with the care that was taken to make each window perfect. During the second 2 days of the project Brandon headed-up the crew as they installed the large bow window and steel entry door. And again everything was done perfectly. The capping around my front door is so impressive that I'd have to say Brandon surpasses the realm of being an excellent craftsman and enters the realm of sheer artistry. I'm still in shock with what he pulled off. All the men worked very well together. From Fran who spent hours with his caulk gun and trim moldings to make everything perfect to the guys that were doing odd jobs, the whole operation was smooth. I was also impressed as I witnessed the more senior members on the team explaining things that they were doing to the team members with less experience. It's that type of behavior that speaks volumes for the future of the company. I'd strongly recommend Emerald Windows to anyone and especially to people in the city with old homes posing unique challenges. When Paul said my windows would be the nicest on the block he was WRONG! My windows are the nicest in the neighborhood. My daughter walks a mile to school and has been coming home for the past week declaring that our front window is the best around. I've used these folks twice because they are very friendly and polite, they're skilled workmen and they clean up after themselves well. For a big job especially, I found their rates to be quite competitive. They also install Trimline windows, which are nice locally-made wood windows. The best part about them is the personalities of the folks on the ground. I would expect a friendly salesperson, but the people who did installations at our house were super personable too. They seemed to enjoy their work and I felt comfortable having them in my house. My only complaint would be that they used white caulk on wood windows that we are not planning to paint. The second time I used them there was also some delay and confusion over getting the quote, but I attribute that to it being over the holidays. read more
