I had a very frustrating experience with their service department. They were courteous but unprepared, uniformed, and unhelpful. Three weeks ago I made an appointment for my 3 year old Highlander, which is still under warranty. The rear seatbelt buckle is jammed and needed to be replaced to pass inspection. I explicitly told the service rep the problem, and that it would need to be replaced (seat belt buckles don't get repaired) and asked if they had the part. They said they'd order it if it need replacement. I **reiterated it would need to be replaced**. Flash forward: I get there, I wait two hours, they determine it needs to be replaced, but don't have the part, they have to order it, and they cannot find me an appointment for three more weeks. If my time isn't valuable, then I won't be returning. read more

Title of this review: seek out Caroline as your sales person. walked into Emerson in May, curious about what it would cost me to trade my 2013 Tacoma for a 2021 Tacoma. A half hour later, I was calling my wife to make sure she was ok with my buying a new truck. Part of the deal was that there is no inventory on site, and I would have to wait two months for my truck to arrive. I could live with that. They gave me a decent trade in, and the truck was reasonably priced. Best of all, I did not have to deal with the "whaddaya need me to do to put you in this baby" patter that is so blatantly corny and insincere. My salesperson was Caroline, who is friendly, competent, and low key. I told my wife about her, and she asked me to make sure that I mentioned that Caroline would never treat women like idiots, which is what my wife (an incredibly smart and capable woman) experiences whenever she enters a dealership. read more

As far as the Service Center I am very pleased with my experience as they were quick to get my paperwork done, vehicle in the bay and I waited about an hour or so for a 30k maintenance job. They had coffee and donut holes the morning I was there. The waiting area is adjacent to the showroom floor so you could browse some of the newer models while waiting. What I was unimpressed with was their sales staff with the exception of Steve Gamache because he took the time to introduce himself and offered to help in anyway I could when it came to talking about what to do with my lease end on my vehicle. I told him I would check back in with him when that time came up. I returned several months later to take a look at the Camry Hybrid as a possible new vehicle since I enjoyed the Camry I had. I walked in the door and saw at least one female and one male look up from their cell phones as I walked in and they quickly returned to their phones as I stood there waiting to be greeted by at least one person. Nope, I had to walk up to one of them just to be acknowledged. I explained I was near lease end and wanted to take a look at the Camry Hybrid. The man bolted towards the one Camry Hybrid they had on the lot and I had to walk with a purpose to keep up. He didn't explain much about the vehicle and offered to let me test drive. He came back with the keys and said come find me when you return. He didn't ask for my license or anything just handed me the keys. When I returned he was nowhere to be found so I dropped the keys off with another sales person. Needless to say I chose to go with a different dealer and a different make when I purchased my most recent vehicle. When I did turn in my lease the sales staff didn't know what to do. They had to ask management and then took down the mileage and had me sign a paper saying I returned the vehicle. They didn't conduct an inspection or anything. I also had to ask them for my plates back as they ignore the fact they were still on there. When I asked if it was possible to get a ride down the road to a different dealership I was told they don't do that for non-Toyota customers. I called Hyundai and they gladly picked me up. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2014 Toyota Camry I had, but it was the sales staff at this location that ruined it for me and caused me to take my business elsewhere. The only reason this place gets one-star is because of their service department. read more

I was shocked to see the one star reviews glad I didn't check this before I brought my Highlander in for service. We just moved from out of state and found the dealership to be great to work with on scheduling maintenance. Appointment scheduling was super easy and nice with a great staff. They took my car right in and the waiting area is nice with wifi. I brought a lot of work with me thinking I would be there around an hour it was only about 30 minutes my car had the oil change, tires rotated and full service. Terrible service department. Had an appointment for Wednesday so I left my car on Tuesday night. They had it all day to work on. I came back on Thursday to pick it up and I was told it wasn't done yet. All they had to do was brakes, an alignment and tire rotation. Also need on shock replaced in the rear. A total of maybe 4 hours of work. The service writer told me I wasn't important so they just never did it. If I hadn't raised a stink about it they were just going to do it when they got around to it. These people were rude, condescending and just don't care about the customer. I'm switching to Berlin City Toyota. Too bad cause we're buying a new highlander at Berlin City now. read more

Unprofessional and rude General Manager. On 11/15/22 my wife went to this dealership, test drove a 2023 Toyota Camry SE and we decide to proceed with the purchase. I was at work at the time and I told my wife to start working on the paperwork to speed the process. I got out of work, called my insurance company, added the car to our policy, and went straight to the dealership to meet with my wife and the sales person (Bruce). Upon my arrival I asked the sales person if he could talk with his manager about giving us any discount. I also told Bruce that we usually purchase our vehicles from IA and they always give us discount. The sales guy told us to wait and went to talk to his general manager Nick Elwell. Meanwhile I got an important call from one of my employees and Bruce came back, I was on the phone. The general manager Nick Elwell came flying out of his office and said "get out!" He continued by telling me that I was being disrespectful by calling another dealer. His approach was totally unacceptable and super unprofessional. Even if I was calling another dealership he had no reason to tell me to get out of his dealership. I told him good luck and walked away. read more

7 days ago my car first arrived at Emerson Toyota. I was assured I would be called with an update that very day or the day after. SEVEN days later and I still have received absolutely no contact from them and absolutely no information about my car. I have reached out multiple times now and have been completely dismissed and told to call back in a few days. This is not a trustworthy establishment. I still have no information about my car or it's well-being and have been forced to go this entire time without a vehicle, relying on friends and family for transportation. read more

Nick the manager decided to just lie to me instead said it was in Toyota spec....Hmm Toyota spec say it pulls to the left.. OK.. very crooked place. So he told me to go $%^ me self and to get my #$% truck off his lot. Real nice general manger and ripping customers off. They even when and deleted my post on face book reveiw. I when to report to the BBB and their BBB certificate was yanked. That really tells you a lot about a place, when you cant even a basic BBB certificate. I bought a Toyota Prius Prime in January and I have had problems every time I have called for service. I called the day before at 5:01 and was told the service department closes at 5:00. The service department is consistently two weeks out for service appointments. I am leaving to drive to Florida and I needed to get my car in for the 15000-mile service. The service department is again about a week out. I asked to speak to the service manager and I was connected. The service manager did not like that I was upset and called me, "Tough Guy." He also told me someone was there the night before and he did not believe I called. I felt it was very disrespectful, and I called back to speak to the General Manager Nick Elwell. Nick who instead of addressing my concern told me I was condescending after I let him know we were able to get an appointment at Berlin City within 24 hours. Berlin City also has free shuttle service and after work appointments. I will never buy a car from Emerson again. Imagine being treated like this after buying a $30,000 car. read more

Unethical. My 80 year old dad went, unbeknownst to anyone, to look at a Yaris because he saw an ad for a low lease price. They talked him into a $26,000 Prius with a lease payment nearly triple! ($363) Dad is almost deaf as a post, has pre-Alzheimer's and is a disabled veteran. He came home with a car! We called immediately to explain that he did not want the car and was confused. We explained he is on a fixed income and can't afford it. They would not budge! The law is on their side but to take advantage of a clearly confused, elderly man is unethical and immoral. It is truly sickening since dad will soon lose his license and we will be stuck paying two more years out of his limited funds. Shame on Emerson Toyota! read more

Completely unimpressed with their sales personnel. I've been here a few times in the past and never have I been treated well. They push me in and out and they persist I'm just closing a sale. And instead of the salesman trying to come to an agreement he told me tough cookies. It's unfortunate because if they hit the right price Mark I would Have actually made the purchase. I first recently spoke with will and at first I thought that he was going to be fairly decent. Pushed me into the paperwork process to try to close immediately on the list price. I left and I later received an email trying to convince me to buy two other vehicles. Which I was not too interested in.So I turn those offers down and tried to negotiate. But Emerson was not willing to budge nor was will. So I waited another day and I heard absolutely nothing back. So I went back and spoke to another sales rep named Keegan and he was very laid-back and slightly timid. But you could tell he was just trying to get rid of me due to the close of the end of the night. Unfortunately I definitely feel as though Emerson is all about the money. My husband has a two-seater truck, and I was pregnant. Those two don't mix, so we were in the market for a new vehicle for more space. He had zero idea what he wanted, as he loves his little Tacoma truck, it is his baby, sad to see it go, and nothing could really replace it. So we needed to try out a lot of stuff. We just wanted to find the vehicle that could somehow fill that empty void in his heart. After an abysmal morning on the Saco auto-mile, we headed into Auburn. Place after place we had gone that morning, sales people were gung ho about 'What can I do to sell you this car TODAY' - when all he wanted was to try them out to see if he even liked them. (He didn't - so please stop trying to sell me them) Until we got to Emerson. They had a few used SUVs that piqued his interest and I feel horrible that I don't remember the salesman's name, but I am so thankful that we ran into him. He took the copy of the license, grabbed some temp plates, and let us go to town. We drove 4 vehicles I think, in a matter of probably an hour. We'd come back, say 'nah, not for us,' pick out another, and off we'd go. No pressure at all. We didn't end up buying anything that day (heck, we still haven't.... can't part with the Taco...using our 2nd vehicle for the kiddo) .... but I really wanted to voice my appreciation for Emerson. When we finally bite the bullet to trade in the Taco, we will likely be back to continue our vehicle try-outs. read more

Blatantly Unethical. To make a long story short, the internet sales person at Emerson quoted me a price on a vehicle in stock. I agreed the same day to pay that price. They took my a holding fee. Next day there was a terrible mistake it seems and the car had been sold and there were no others that they could get for anywhere near that price. But I could order a new one for MSRP and have it in a few months. They did not keep my money but it was a big waste of time. I can tolerate the games salespeople play to earn business but this was just plain unethical. read more

We HAD been going to them for many years. You hear all of these horror stories of people's cars being messed up or overcharged for services that were not necessary. BOTH of these has happened at this one place of "business". The service department has managed to mess up our vehicles with a full range of issues. These are from oily hand prints on the steering wheel and side of truck after the mediocre "wash" to striping 3 of the 6 bolts holding the skid plate, to the worse of all striping a WHEEL STUD while doing a simple break job. We have given them many chances and this is unacceptable. I CAUTION EVERYONE considering having them do work on your car to consider another mechanic so this does not have to happen to you. read more
