I would not go to this place again. All I needed was an oil change and he did some extra work on my car without calling me. The total increase was only $17 but I think it's important to call the customer and tell them when you're doing extra work on their vehicle and not surprise them with it. When I brought it up to him, he said I didn't have a choice and he never calls customers to tell them if their car needs extra work like that. I know it's a small amount, but times are tough and a lot of peoples budgets are small. I have friends that could've done the extra work as well. I had a nail in my tire and I am grateful he took it out, but I wish he would've called me first. read more

Avoid this place. Brought my husbands Chevelle here and it was a nightmare from the beginning. Husband drove car in to the shop(running). We knew it needed a lot of work done on it however we live about 1 hour away so driving back and fourth there is a real hassle. A very rude woman named Jess who does not belong in customer service at all(understatement) calls to tell my husband he needs to immediately come down to the shop for them to show him something. Saying"the car is not safe to drive". We get there and the alternator was broken into the motor. Saying we brought it in like that. Not possible since my husband drove it in working-now car can't even drive. My guess is they were wrenching on it-it's a old car things can break but be honest about it. Got into a argument about it and then decided we were trapped and had no choice but to have these liars fix it and fix more things. Shame on us! Now after leaving the shop(mind you 3 weeks later). Car drives worse then prior to bringing it there. We spent $4,000 and are extremely upset. Not sure how this guy-shop has good reviews. They took full advantage of us and lied!!!! Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place. This place caused me days of loss of sleep-I was and still am sick over this. I don't like writing bad reviews because people work hard for there business but when you LIE and blame people or have constant excuses YOU deserve for the public blast. read more

I've taken my 3 Honda's to Dave over the past 25 years. I had 1 oil change elsewhere, and they stripped the threads, on my oil pan. Dave was able to change the oil, thereafter, in a way that prevented leakage. Will never take my car anywhere else. read more

Nothing but good things to say about Emick's. I had a timing belt, water pump, tensioners, serpentine belt, spark plugs and a motor mount replaced and they did excellent work. That's one of the harder automotive efforts to do and the work came out perfectly. The best part is that his estimate was the most reasonable and they allowed me to bring my own parts- a key factor in helping me decide. Added bonus- you can text their land line and get an update on your car without having to call. Makes things very, very easy (especially when you are in a meeting). read more

After 3 visits to Emick's I'm left entirely unimpressed. I've had two bad experiences and one ok experience. I've averaged that out to 2 stars. 1st visit was for my wife's new Subaru... it's first oil change. The bill was just under $100 when the stealership charges $60. I learned from that mistake. Wife's Subaru hasn't been back. 2nd visit was about a month ago when I brought in my "new" Ford Ranger for an inspection plus a host of preventive maintenance. I was mostly happy with this service but had a bad taste in my mouth because of a $50 diagnostic fee for something I had already diagnosed myself - a flashing SRS (airbag) light. I felt pressured into their diagnosis because I'm new to DIY auto repair, but I learned my lesson - have confidence and don't succumb to sales pressure. I was also disappointed with the fee (30 minutes of labor) since I had properly diagnosed the problem in 3 minutes using Google. 3rd visit was about two weeks ago. After having my vehicle looked over, Andrew called me to say my SRS light was flashing and they could look into that for me no problem. Really disappointing. They couldn't have been more eager to charge me another $50 to re-diagnose a flashing airbag light. They got my $50 for the 1st "diagnosis", but they won't be seeing me again. read more

Been going to Emick's Auto for over a decade. My last visit underscores why: I had taken my old Toyota to the dealer to get a new key . While there, they gave me a rundown of work the car needed. I brought that rundown and its estimates to Emick's, telling Dave if he could be in the same ballpark as the estimates, I'd rather give him the job. Well Dave and his crew checked everything in the dealer's rundown, explained why some of the work would not be necessary (either at all or for a while) and gave me estimates for the rest that were less than what the dealer had projected. Emick's did the work quickly. I saved time, money, and the car runs great. This is a great shop: fair, skilled, communicative. I've recommended it to my two sons, and they agree. read more

We were contemplating buying a used SUV and needed a quick inspection and Dave at Emick's was able to get the car in and up on the lift the following day. The price was reasonable and boy, was he thorough. Dave inspected every nook and cranny of the car and even got it up to speed (where he diagnosed a problem). Update: I've been taking my car for almost five years now, and guess what? They've yet to lie, mislead, sell me services I don't need, you know, all the issues many of us have to deal with at other mechanics services. Emick's is always honest, and I really do mean always. I've brought my car in thinking I needed new breaks, shocks, etc., and they have never tried to sell me something I don't need. And I have a 2001 SVU, so I do assume I need things fixed because of the age of the car. But Emick's has always told me when they think a part really needs to be replaced, rather than when it could be replaced so they could make more money. I would recommend Emick's to everyone I know, but then again I don't want to have to wait two weeks to get my car in! So I guess I shouldn't have written this update. read more

I would give Emick's Auto 0 stars if I could. I visited Emick's Auto because I had a broken lug nut on my car. I spoke to the lady at the front desk, the shop manager, and I requested that she or one of the technicians take a look at my car before we scheduled anything since I had visited about 4 other shops prior to going to Emick's and no one was able to help me out. I wanted to know if they would be able to help me take the broken lug nut off. She nor any of her technicians took a look at the car, per my request, because according to her they would be able to take it off. We scheduled an appointment and when I arrived to my appointment she forgot I was coming in that day at that time, however, she still took me in and asked for my keys. I then told her to let me know before they do anything how much I was going to be charged or if I was going to be charged. She told me that she would give me a call to let me know before anything was going to be done/charged. Half an hour passed and she called me to let me know that they cannot take off the lug nut and the only way they would be able to is if they drilled it out. She gave me a quote of around "$800 to $1000 or more". I told her to not do anything to it and that I was going to go pick up my car. I got to the shop where she then charged me $21. I had no clue why I was being charged, as she did not, I repeat: DID NOT tell me about this charge. I asked prior to scheduling and prior to dropping off my car if there was going to be any charge and all she would say is that she would call me back to let me know before they did anything. There should be no charge if they did not do anything to the car. Previous shops would not charge me at all to take a look at the car. I ended up paying her the $21 for her to do nothing with the car. I got inside my car and my dashboard features were changed. It seemed like they were looking around my dashboard features. I always have the turbo display on my dashboard, but when I got inside my car it had a different page displayed. I left Emick's Auto very disappointed and went to my local dealer. They were able to take off the lug nut by drilling it out with a total cost of under $400 and zero wheel damage. Emick's Auto wanted over $800 for the same job or their other solution was to break the wheel. Do not come here unless you want to pay double the price for unprofessionalism and untrustworthy people. read more

(Owner/operator) Dave Emick has been my family's mechanic for 20+ years. He is absolutely amazing, trustworthy, and (I just learned) organized and generous. We have taken all kind of strange problems to him, had him look over used cars we'd like to buy and done regular repairs here. I just recently called him with a question about my car (now in California) and he was happy to look up the previous work. He gave me a detailed breakdown of what we had done and the cost of parts and labor. He even gave me the part number of a warrantied part so that I could get it replaced. These guys have earned my business. The shop is clean and organized, Andrew in the front office is very friendly, courteous and helpful. David is the one that worked on my jeep and he looked at everything around where he was working and found a couple small issues that were quick to remedy and really added no cost to the repair. I've only been here once, but I have zero complaints about my experience with Emick's. I was having a car issue for about two months that no one seemed to know how to fix. I was told that I'd have to wait a week for my car to be looked at, but I figured it was worth it because of all the good reviews. I left my car here for one day, and when I picked it up, it was all good. The following day, I left for a 2,000 mile road trip (going all around the Rocky Mountains), and the car ran great! My Mazda 626 overheated on the freeway, I found Emick's in Yelp and based on their 5 star rating, decided to give them a try. They replaced the serpentine belt for a very reasonable price in less than a day. But what most impresses me is they could have claimed it needed a water pump and charged me 3 times as much! He charged me 100 to tell me that the car needed basically everything done and would be best to get rid of it because it would only last a few months. I took it somewhere else, spent 300 in repairs and 18 months later the car is still running great. read more

This place is terrible. I sent my wife in to get a quote and they charged her $70 and didn't even provide her a quote. When I went in to ask why they treated my wife that way they said they wanted to charge her more , $250-300 just for the quote. I went over to BrakesPlus and got a free quote and the work done on 3 hours for $430. $70 I will never get back. read more

My husband and I have been customers of Emick's for several years, with usually great service. Until this last visit. Back in November of 2016, I had left my vehicle in their care for a repair. About one month later I received a past due parking ticket for $100 in the mail, to my surprise, because I knew nothing of an original ticket. So I called Emick's, and spoke with the lady in their office, she tells me they usually take care of any tickets that are issued on their property while in their care and that they hadn't seen an original ticket either. She said she was going to leave word with the owner to call me back to get it straightened out. No call. I call the next day, she sounded surprised that the owner hadn't called me back, and said she would leave another message for him to call me. Nothing. A couple of days go by, I GO IN to Emick's to talk with them, the lady in the office still is surprised he hasn't contacted me, she goes to get him, she can't find him, and his personal vehicle is gone... ok. She tells me she will let him know I was there and that I should contest the ticket. Fine. The holidays pass, I've disputed the ticket, only to have the late fee taken off so only the original $50 fine is due. I call again, goes to voicemail, leave message stating the above, guess what, no call. 2 days later I call one last time, voicemail, and let them know what loyal customers we have been, even referring them to friends, etc. and how disheartening it is to not be even given a phone call back to even discuss the ticket. Not a civil conversation was initiated by them. Needless to say, Emick's has lost our business and referrals. Something so small could have been settled so easily. Sad. read more

I moved to Denver in 1995 with an old Honda civic. My car would suddenly die in the middle of driving it down the road. I took it to numerous mechanics but no one could fix it. Dave fixed it and kept it running for several years. I feel I can trust him and believe he is the best there is. read more
