AUTO REPAIR FRAUD, SCAMMING, AND DISHONEST REPAIR PRACTICES I wish there was an option to give zero stars- like I would to have that option. Do not take your car here under any circumstances. I went in for an alignment and they told me my car needed over $3,000 in repairs. They said my brake pads had less than 5% (scare tactic), needed new rotors, my tie rods were damaged and rusted together and I needed to replace both inner and outer tie rods on both front sides, and needed to replace all 4 struts on the vehicle. I had my vehicle looked at by 2 other mechanics at 2 different shops and they said my brakes were at 30%, the rotors did not need to be replaced, there was no rust or damage to my tie rods, and the struts were in good shape. I am so glad that my vehicle was looked at by different mechanics after being in the brakes plus shop. I wouldn't feel safe driving my car after these people touched it. I would NEVER take my vehicle here. Even if my car broke down in their parking lot and needed the simplest repair, I would have it towed elsewhere before letting these scammers touch it. read more

IF I COULD RATE THIS PLACE ZERO I WOULD. We took our Subaru outback in for an oil change, and they inspected the brakes. After the brake inspection they failed to retract my driver side rear brake causing the pad to fail WITHIN 3 DAYS as my wife was picking my daughter up from school. This was either willful negligence to try and get us to spend more money at the shop or complete incompetence and I don't know what is worse. WHAT KIND OF BRAKE SHOP SCUMMY ENOUGH TO MESS WITH THE SAFTEY OF CUSTOMERS. The shop is not answering phone calls since we were told the general manager would be in contact with us. The "technicians" told us they aren't responsible and won't help out with repairs. Outrageous company and has completely lost my trust for any future repairs and preventative maintenance. Brakes plus saved the day and didn't charge me for a major mistake by Jiffy Lube. I was driving the family car (we share) and notice an odd noise. Decide not to drive it and get it checked out. I used Brakes Plus on Quebec in the past for other vehicle and felt they were honest and efficient. This time they went above and beyond after they found the oil filter was loose and the car had been leaking oil (none left by this time) after the last oil change by Jiffy Lube. I've been going here for years with varying levels of service. Generally speaking for minor things they do pretty well and have decent pricing during Covid. I had a really bad experience where they kept my car for triple the amount of time quoted ended up charging me and I drove by and saw that they left my car windows open and it rained, and they shut down because everybody got Covid. 2002 BMW X5 that's showing its age with many glitches. BMW makes it harder than necessary to upkeep their vehicles, fact. I had an issue that I took to GM Jesse at Brakes Plus. I won't bore you with specifics, but Jesse went above and beyond to answer my many technical questions on an issue I was having with my suspension. I am a demanding consumer and skeptical after many shady experiences of shops with questionable practices and associated overcharging. I have caught more than one dealership and Indy shop with proof of their corner-cutting, as I do a good bit of service and upkeep myself and uncovered their buffoonery, for which I have cold busted them. I have NOT seen any of this with this Brakes Plus location. I will continue to bring my X5 to Jesse for most of my service issues, except those that truly need to be handled by a dealership or an Indy shop with the highest-end diagnostics equipment. We have been going to BP for years for oil change, but would'nt have them perform other work. Just a week ago went for an oil change and was told the brakes were worn and needed to be replaced ASAP and that we needed to do a tune up and replace the spark plugs soon. We took the car to our regular mechanic, paid to have the car checked and learned that BP was trying to bait us into spending money for no reason. Our mechanic pulled the tires and showed us that the brake pads had 50% life remaining and the plugs were not due to be replaced for 50,000 more miles. Always get a second opinion. read more

First I received no call to let me know they were going to keep my car over night, then I found out this shop is closed Sunday, so it was held for two nights. I was charged $400. After getting my car back Monday I was still hearing grinding and screeching on my brakes. I took it back to this shop to re-evaluate the initial job 3 weeks later. They were going to charge me another $900 to service. After speaking with their personnel of the issue I was met with hostility. They have gotten so bad! I have been going here for a couple years. I had the car serviced for cabin air filter, coolant exchange, tire rotation, and oil change. The total was over 500... I had a coupon from the website but my phone hadn't been activated (just got it 30 min prior)so couldn't access the website. I also work nights so was rushing to pick up the car on time to be also on time for work. I arrived at 530 pm. at 6 pm (closing time) I was due to head to work. No notification from them when it might be due. I just waited. At 615 it was done, making me late for work. When I asked for assistance on the discount code he said that's essentially not going to happen. Before, If I didn't have the code, no problem here's your discount, I see it here on our website, I'll pull it up for you, today nope pay full price? But the guy before didn't have to present his coupon code and he got the discount no problem? What? My phone is now activated, and I was late for work anyways, so I thought I'd leave this review. They don't care about customer service. How much you spend, and or following their proposed time. We also, have jobs. They don't care about even notifying you. And they will eek you for every penny. I have been coming for years I took my car in for a oil change on my way home my car started to smell like smoke before I reached my driveway my steering wheel went out and oil started leaking from the bottom I immediately called back where Michael told me i could tow my car back to the shop as he was unsure if it was an error done by them he then tried to tell me he may or may not be able to pay for the tow truck unsure if it was his fault that my car was leaking oil from a oil change he did.. the tow truck was paid for to find out the gasket was damaged when I asked for a refund Michael then began to say how they paid for the tow truck as if they did me a favor after almost killing me and my children then told me I couldn't get a refund because the part was replaced and the technician needed to paid however I missed work due to my car having to go back the very next day and the business buying defective parts in bulk was not his fault i guess its my problem he was very nonchalant about the fact that my steering wheel went out while I was driving no big deal right it was fixed so we should be ok was his poor attitude when I picked my car up lovely Michael gave me a card for a free oil change like i would let them change my oil again funny no accountability not even an apology for the piss poor job or customer service I received I will never go back here again make sure you ask if the parts in their shop are damaged before they fix your car your steering wheel might go out and you might die. read more

Made an appt for my 2016 explorer to have an alignment done at 8am and they didnt take my car in till 9am l. No biggie. Got it back and my vehicle still drove the same if not worse! They had stated to me i needed a new left tie rod and control arm bushings and they quoted me around 1.8 thousand dollars i said i was fine since i had recently had those inspected, after i called them back they said i can bring it in to get it rechecked and here i am now another 2 hours waiting for my car to get a simple alignment done right! I had previously brought my car in for an oil change at a dealership. they determined I needed new brakes. I called Brakes plus and told them my brake pad readings and that I wanted new brake pads installed. I made an appointment for the next day at 0800 to have them installed. They stated they would make sure they had the pads in stock by the morning. When I arrived I dropped off the car and they stated it would take 2 hours. I told them I would uber home and return. They offered me a ride home. The employee had glassy eyes and couldn't find Colorado Blvd which was one block away. I called the store around 1030 and they stated that they were looking at it and would have an estimate in 10 minutes. I called back at 1130 and they stated they were looking at it and would have an estimate in 10 minutes. I discussed with them that I had an appointment to have the pads installed at 0800 and asked why they did not install the pads and why it wasn't done. They had lots of excuses but no good ones. I picked up the car at 1230 and no work had been done. Do not use this place!! read more

The oil change was fine, but my experience was poor. My appointment was at 10a, yet my car sat in the lot until 10:30. Seeing that I have a woman's name, I was subjected to the old air filter trick (where a large man comes out and shows you a random filthy air filter not even for your make and model of vehicle and tells you your car will explode if you don't pay $25 to have it replaced; this did not happen to any of the men in the lobby, and I saw him through the window set down the phony air filter on a shop counter before he walked back to my car.) My car was finally ready at 11:15a, and the shop did not honor my coupon off my service total, but off the entire total including tax, so I was overcharged. This was the end of a week-long string of poor customer service incidents, and I won't be returning. read more

I did not have a good experience at this location. I made a 3pm appointment and had to leave work early. I arrived at 2:45pm and they did not touch my car until 3:30pm. Not sure what the point is in making an appointment. There were no walk-ins in the time that I was there and there were mechanics standing around in the garage while my car sat outside. Also, once I left the shop, my tire pressure light went on immediately and the car was making significantly more noise than it was before I brought it in. When I took it to a different shop to fix it, they found a big oil mess that was left by the Brakes Plus mechanics. Your car should never have more issues leaving a shop. Customer service is TRASH. Came around 5pm on Thursday (9/9/21) and sat there waiting to be helped. A mechanic was just sitting on his phone, no acknowledgement. Next car pulled up, phone was away and he was at there car. Shouldn't have came back but I considered it being the end of the day on Thursday, I tried again on Friday 4pm (9/10/21) and even CALLED as I was driving over here. The woman who answered said "no, you don't need an appt. just pull up in the back of the store and someone will let you know what stall to park in. " I arrived, nobody helped or even acknowledged me waiting. 3 employees were huddled talking and walked away, going thru a door in the garage, opposite of where I am visibly parked. Then a lady moves a car out of the garage, staring at me as if I'm in the wrong but I'm simply doing what I was told. Excellent service! I've been here three times and was only charged once since the mechanics were upfront by evaluating my car and letting me know what they could and couldn't do without charge. Jesse the manager was terrific, taking the time to explain my options and never pressuring me. Now that I have a new car I took it to brakes plus for a new used car inspection which was incredibly reasonably priced, and only needed a rear alignment. Went into a shop I trust downtown and they said everything was just fine, they just needed to be burnished (free). Don't let them take advantage of you! I hate getting work done on my car but I've been coming to this Brakes Plus for about a year now for brakes and oil changes. Based on my experience it has been hit or miss. I always schedule for appointments a few days out because they are always super busy, they've had to turn away a few people this afternoon for walk-ins. With oil changes I'm usually in and out in under one hour. However, a few weeks ago I had to get my brakes replaced and they had some stocking issues with the parts they needed that took way too long to sort out.
