I popped in to Emily's 10 days ago to sample their wares. It was about 1.30 in the afternoon. The OPEN sign in the window was brightly lit. A woman steps forward & says, "I'm sorry, we're closed." As I was walking toward the door, I told her the sign says OPEN. She told me they close at one, and turned off the sign. Partly my fault. They do close at one, and I should have checked their hours before going. So I bailed and went next door to Shoofly Dairy, which opens at one. Yesterday I returned to Emily's, and requested 4 Boston Cream Donuts. Ten minutes later I was out the door with my BCDs. They had a bit of rough travel over the 41 mile trip home, but were still tasty when I nuked one this morning. I hope to return to try their coffee and other products. read more

Stopped based on reviews and was very disappointed. Got a "blueberry " fritter - there wasn't a single blueberry in it. It also did not taste fresh (got there at 10 am). Other forgettable donut had very little taste either. My granddaughter liked one of the two she got - she liked the icing and sprinkles but wasn't impressed with the donut. I don't mind paying for great donuts but $13 for 3 donuts and a fritter seems a bit much - only one of the donuts was filled, one cake, one iced. Oh My Goodness! Ordered a large chocolate/white mocha latte, and the woman barista made it so sweet, I literally cringed. Awesome Cake Donuts!!! Emily's Donuts is in a free standing building with a limited amount of parking on a busy day. The inside is small and very clean. We decided on a blueberry donut because it is something that the both of us have never tried. It was flavor packed with a crispy exterior and a moist inside. It was delicious. We also tried the vanilla and chocolate donuts. They were just as fresh and tasty. I bought a bag of donut holes for later and they are crunchy on the outside and moist on the inside....perfect with a cup of coffee. The employee taking our order was outstanding!! Stopped by today on our trip to Williamsburg mostly looking for a hot cup of coffee since it was pretty chilly and they offered a 15% off check in offer. We get there and I ask for coffee and they tell me the machine has already been cleaned and they aren't doing coffee. The lady then turns around and says "if you really want one i can make you one, I'll just have to rinse it". I found it weird since they didn't close for another hour. So my husband and I ask for 2 and grab a donut each and go to check out. I ask for the 15% off yelp check in and they say they don't do that discount. Just don't go too late in the morning as their selection tends to dwindle. Each time I've gone, it has definitely been wonderful. It is pricey and you pay for the quality you are getting. Don't expect to leave paying less than $5. Hours are little to be desired as they close at noon. read more

Emily's Donuts and Cafe is owned by the Yates Family, in which they not only offers handmade donuts (ring donuts, topped donuts, filled donuts, and specialty donuts (like the apple fritter, Long John, and the cinnamon roll), but B-more coffee, pies, and a lunch menu. I tried their Strawberry Shortcake, Caramel Sea Salt Yeast Ring, Key Lime Pie, and an original glazed. I really enjoyed the Caramel Sea Salt Yeast Ring, as it had a nice glaze on top of the sea salt caramel that was smooth and creamy - salty and sweet at the same time, the original glazed was also delicious, as it was a yeast-y donut that was soft and fluffy. Yum! There were some seats where you can enjoy your little treats, and there's even a little container of treats for furry friends :D I think Emily herself was there, and she was friendly and greeted everyone that was coming in. Donuts are like the new fro yo- shops keep popping up everywhere. Luckily Emily's, which just opened up and is right down the street from me, is outstanding in every way. First off, great space with a decent amount of seating. I could easily see myself reading the newspaper over a cup of joe and a fresh glazed inside the restaurant. Second, wonderful staff. No labels on the donuts (minor annoyance) but the staff were helpful and able to identify the different kinds and offer suggestions. Not only that, they were just genuinely friendly. Third coffee- cheap and a half dozen flavors (including pumpkin yay). They also sell espresso drinks and a variety of bottled beveridges. Finally, the donuts. Lots of options including cake, yeast and jelly-filled. I accidentally ordered a cake donut (I prefer yeast) because I was gushing over the vanilla frosting. I'm missing the appeal to this place. We stopped in today to a very limited selection of donuts, in a very awkwardly decorated shop. The flow of the place was off, the walls were bare, the rope lights in the case were strange, and the feel was very uncomfortable. The glazed donut we had was dry, chewy, and unevenly cooked. The apple fritter had no apples, and was paper thin, not sure what happened there. Then there was some awkward donut with cream piped into the hole... so it squeezed through the bottom and dripped out? Why would you put cream in the hole where it will just fall through? Sometimes when I am heading up north we will go out of the way and add a visit to this place. Always willing to travel for good food, but for a donut I may travel even further. We love this place, the people and the service that we get as well. You are always welcomed with a smile by the employees and even other customers as well. This place just gives you that type of vibe. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because they do not always have my favorite donut when I stop in. The split cream is so good that I normally don't have a chance to post a picture because I am already eating it. I was told just this last visit that if I call ahead they can hook me up (my tip for the day... unless I am just that special? ). Just about everything that we have had was very good, but the Apple Fritters are the stand out always. You can also ask to have it warmed up some as well (second tip of the day). They have different specials as well so look out for that as well. Coffee is always good and as of now they also have 100% Kona in too. Small place, but they do have some seating available just in case you want to start up a good conversation or even take part in smiling and giving another warm welcome to another customer coming in. This place keeps it nice and simple with their cute little donut shop to hop in and out of in purchasing good quality donuts at a great price! The workers are wonderful, the place is maintained well, and the donut selection is diverse and all look amazingly yummy! I would definitely advise you all to come as early as possible if you want the best freshest selection possible :) This is a place where even the workers who you don't normally get to see who work in the back take a moment to come out and make friendly small talk and seem to care just as much about their customers as those who work the register and take the orders upfront. Emily's Donuts is a cute little shop with a modest selection of very fresh donuts. Today we sampled the glazed, Boston Creme and cake donuts. All three were delicious. The glazed and Boston were wonderfully poufy and yeasty. The only item I'm not super excited about is the bacon egg & cheese biscuit. It was clearly microwaved resulting in a rubbery texture, steal clear. Duck Donuts has them beat in the breakfast sandwich dept. I was happy to see that Emily's has good strong coffee as well as an espresso machine. I opted for an Americano which was perfect. They had a wide selection of coffees to choose from. They only have two tops for seating, and the place is cozy, so the kiddos and I sat separately. I have a feeling that when it gets busy the flow might be off but I'm sure they'll figure it out. read more

The Boston Crème was the best I've ever had! Was my first time there and was not disappointed

We came here for a quick breakfast while on vacation. The conuts were very good but I didn't love the chocolate donut, it was a little dry. I saw a sign while in there advertising their new iced coffee and when I ordered it they didn't seem to know how to make it, they even had to come to my table and take it back because they realized they missed something then added another kind of syrup.
