Finding tasty gluten free cake in the area can be challenging especially if you want variety and customization. Suzie Cakes was Not my first choice because the website shows only one option for gluten free cakes- vanilla cake with blue vanilla frosting. So I went looking elsewhere and ran into similar issues with limited cake flavor options. I came back to Susiecakes because I knew I would at least get a tasty cake.. and when I went into the store, I learned that I could get other frostings even though it was not well communicated on the website. I chose vanilla gluten-free cake layered with the strawberry buttercream and decided to purchase a cupcake version of those flavors to taste test before ordering it. Surprisingly, the store clerk didn't charge me for cupcake! That more than made up for having to drive over to ask about other frosting flavors. The next day I worked with one of their customization team specialists, Claud, to work out the details for the custom decoration. Claud was amazing. He emailed me color samples to be sure I agreed- he emailed me a detailed description on the decoration plan while I was on the phone with him just to be sure we were crystal clear. I'm giving a high rating because I never had a cake that I didn't like at Susie Cakes, but also a high rating for the customer service in the store and over the phone/email with the customization group. I also had a very specific vision for my wedding cake - I wanted a detailed three-tier cake with buttercream vintage flowers. We also ordered a plain sheet cake with the same flavors to ensure that we had enough slices for our guests. I worked with Fariba during the ordering process and they were great. It was covered in chocolate and filled with custard, and it was just the right sweetness and not too sweet. The size was pleasing, and the custard filling was good. The cake was not enjoyable; to be fair, this might or might not be due to personal taste. It was a 3-layer vanilla cake filled with lemon mousse, covered in buttercream and white chocolate bark pieces, and topped with 10 blueberries. This flavor can be found on their website catalog. I don't know if this is typical for this bakery, but the cake was heavy, claggy on the bottom, and way too sweet. The lemon mousse tasted incredibly strange, as if it were artificial or maybe had some kind of herb or weird flavoring added. The less said about the cream, the better. The white chocolate was quite good though. I saw they had a wide variety of cake offerings, but I don't think I'd want cake from here again. I might get the choux pastry again.

I ordered my 55th birthday cake from Emma Cakery, and it exceeded all my expectations. I requested a custom design with banana and walnut flavors, and the cake came out exactly as I had envisioned. The moment I saw it, my heart filled with happiness. The cake was elegant, beautiful, and truly the centerpiece of my dessert table. Many of my guests stopped to admire it and took pictures with it throughout the evening. After five hours, we finally cut the cake, and it tasted just as incredible as it looked -- super fresh, moist, and absolutely delicious. Some of my guests even asked for extra slices to take home! A special thank you to Niloofar for her amazing talent, creativity, and professionalism. Her organization and attention to detail made the entire experience wonderful.
