Wow! I waited over a week to visit this place because they were sold out of most of the desserts. They're so popular, and the owners take their time making new desserts. They have tea, but I wanted cheesecake. The cheesecake was excellent! You order online or at their kiosk inside. It's best to keep checking online to see if the desserts you want are in stock yet, if they aren't, they're listed as sold out. The ube cheesecake was creamy, sweet, with cream. The triple matcha cheesecake was very good, tasted like matcha, and best if you don't like dessert too sweet. Each piece of cake was around $10-11 would be nice if it was bigger, but it's great as it is because it's dense. It's so cute inside! Service is fast! Highly recommend! read more

Loved Eggcellent so much we visited twice on our trip in the Albany area! The options are fresh and different from what I am used to having when grabbing a milk or fruit tea. First up, I ordered the Jasmine Tea with Matcha foam and coconut water. This was a super refreshing drink and I am already wanting to have it again. Second we grabbed the Ube Milk Tea float which was a super pleasant taste, ordered with 0 percent sugar which kept it at a perfect level of sweetness. The quality of my fresh taro milk tea was top notch even compared with many of the boba brands in LA and Orange County that I frequent. Honestly I was so surprised to find a boba shop of this caliber in Upstate NY. I can't wait to visit again to try more drinks, especially the guava series (seasonal special!) and the desserts. This is a nice hangout spot and the tea is one of the better ones we have found in this region, but I ultimately don't think I can justify the sticker price (almost $8 including tax), given the boba tea options in the area at lower (little over $5 including tax) prices. What is appealing is the bright and cozy vibes with several different seating options, and the gentleman who appeared to be the owner was very friendly and helpful. From observation, the costumers that use the kiosk to place orders vs at the counter were about the same, although we chose the latter because what we want usually isn't available on a kiosk, and it wasn't. There are menu boards on the wall behind the kitchen and on the glass barrier between the kitchen and seating area, and we got one Jasmine green and one tie guan yin oolong. There was some back and forth because we can rarely get the sweetness and ice level perfect the first time in a new shop, but once we got both at a sweet spot, their tea was acceptable, especially the oolong. Their boba was also decent although I couldn't tell whether at least some of it was unflavoured. They have their own parking which is a bonus, and I was glad they didn't max up the volume for the music. All in all a good experience, but the considering we only ever get plain tea without the usual fanciness and pay less at other ships, I'm not sure if Eggcellent around be at the top of my list for my next trip to a boba tea shop. read more

Controversial opinion: Eggcellent is hands down the BEST bubble tea place in the capitol region. In fact, it's set my standard so high that some places in NJ and NY can't even compete. First off, this place is adorable, it is a bit IKEA-esk but that's what makes it feel clean and modern. Second off, they've got an awesome rewards program - you automatically get 5% by just being member. Third off, that mango pomelo drink is the BEST thing I've ever had. It's my go to every time. It's smoothie like but not crazy thick, has chunks of fresh mango and pomelo, and is creamy and fruity in all the best ways... and my favorite - white pearls. Fourth off, in addition to the powdered flavors that every place offers, they offer FRESH options - fresh fruit, fresh taro, fresh red bean, etc. Fifth off, their flavored egg tarts are a nice treat too - ube, yuzu, etc. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself here before or after a day of shopping at crossgates. read more

Capital region's first authentic boba shop!! Very creative and kawaii aesthetics in the cafe. I first tried Eggcellent when it was a pop up at crossgates mall in 2022. A year later, Eggcellent opened their brick and mortar outside of crossgates mall on Western Ave. there's an order kiosk right as you walk into the shop, although the kiosk had some errors. It showed all cheese tart flavors are available whereas only a few flavors were. The kiosks also charge a small fee for using it. I'd recommend going straight to the front to order with a bobarista. Service was good. We ordered original cheese tarts on the kiosk but it was unavailable. Staff were able to cancel the cheese tart order for us and provide a refund with 2-3 business days. The interior had a really vibrant and cute vibes to it. Walls decorated with kawaii drawings and neon signs. It's definitely insta-worthy café to take pix. Some of the pics here are older, from when they had a kiosk in the mall, but it looks like they've moved to a more permanent location on Western. I got a creme brulee milk tea at 50% sweetness. The tea itself was actually really good with just the right amount of team, milk and sweetness, and I loved that they actually scorched the top of the creme brulee foam! But even though I love creaminess in my drinks, the creme brulee was almost TOO thick and made my milk tea taste like a milkshake (which is probably not the worst thing to have in the world LOL). Officially mindblown. Our family made the unfortunate decision of coming to the mall on black friday, forgetting it was black friday and I had resigned myself to an afternoon of walking around with deadened eyes. Then, we saw it. A golden beacon of iridescent cheese tart and tapioca. The whole vibe- menu, branding, even the delectable tea smell standing next to the stand- transported me right back to China. They had drinks only real ones would know-- taro latte with real taro?? AND non dairy options? If you grew up around the capital region like I unfortunately did, you'd know how rare it is to find a legitimate bubble tea establishment around here. We ordered the eggcellent milk tea (as a baseline marker, of course) and the taro latte with oat milk. We ordered both with 30% sweetness and true to our ask, the drinks were perfectly semi sweet. The taro especially was delectable- perfectly smooth and full of beautiful root-y taro flavor. As someone who has made boba sampling a tertiary mission in life, I can say this boba is definitely the best in the capital region. Came here with the wife while strolling through the mall. I ordered an Oreo cookie milk tea with Oreo cookies on top of cheese foam and taro balls. Very good combination, but it came with ice and I should have had them omit it. It was hard to suck up the cookie pieces and taro balls while fighting through giant ice cubes. It was sweet and creamy, and despite being a non-coffee drinker I imagine this is what those high-end iced coffee drinks are like. I don't remember what the wife got. We also tried three of their cheese tarts (original, purple yam, and something else). All tasted about the same to me: intensely creamy and runny in texture, with a nice crispy shell crust. Since the purple yam has the potential to stain clothing, I would stick with the others. Sadly, they were out of chocolate but that sounded really good. I have never ordered any drink like this before, and I really liked it. At $6 in a mall that I don't get to often, I can't say I will be making it part of my daily routine. Small, cute business located conveniently close to the Crossgates Mall. I've now visited the location a few times and each time has been so pleasant, consistent and delicious. The staff is courteous and friendly, I typically use the self service kiosk to order because I tend to take a long time but they're always very courteous and I would have no hesitation asking for help. It's got limited seating due to its small size but the atmosphere is clean and cozy. There's loads of options for add-ins to your beverage, small treats, coffee...basically something for everyone. The cashier was super nice and friendly. I ended up trying the hojicha latte w/ boba and almond milk & the Shi Li Xiang lemon tea w/ nata jelly; both at 50% sweetness. For a small vender location, the drinks were really good with a pleasant, earthy tea flavor in the hojicha latte. Got the jasmine tea with added grass jelly. Tried all of their tart flavors too! The jasmine tea was very refreshing and they had grass jelly in big chunks that break off super easily if drinking with a straw. Love that you can customize how much sugar is added to the drinks as I like mine with just a bit of sugar. The cheese foam in the tea was amazing, pro tip: mix the drink up before drinking or you'll get only cheese foam toward the end of the drink . Stopped into eggcellent after seeing great reviews about it. Upon walking in, it was very clean inside and had some tables for those wishing to dine in. We went in strictly for the cheese tarts. Upon coming in, there was a kiosk to order, however, the kiosk isn't very accurate. As I came later in the day (~7PM), I could only see three egg tarts on the display but the kiosk had all of them listed as being available. I ended up going to the counter and asking the staff what ones were available, and there was actually only the three I saw. The staff was very friendly! I got the three and brought them home to try. The flavors we ended up with were original, ube, and yuzu. All three had a great crunch to the tart shell. We tried the original first, which had great cheesy flavor, my favorite of all three! The yuzu was more citrus, I wish I had tried the ube first though since having it after the yuzu took a lot of the subtle ube flavor away. i got their jasmine green tea with cheese foam when i went for the first time and it wasn't so bad! it was pretty standard, it's kind of difficult to mess up such a simple drink lol. i didnt think it was so bad personally but from what i've heard from others when they got different drinks (like the matcha red bean mochi latte) is sort of a hit or miss. i still think it's worth a shot though. i haven't had the chance to try their cheese tarts but i still think it'd be worth a shot read more
