They are teaching special needs adults here. They also have community based instruction for them.

There were a few aspects of the university that made me decide to go with their program. Top of the list was excellent reviews by current and former students. Next, I wanted a program that would be extremely challenging, as I wanted a high quality education from a regionally accredited university. Last, I needed flexibility within my work schedule to be able to do my writing and research when I wanted. For me, Amberton fit all of these requirements. I am about halfway through my MS Human Resources, and I have been extremely pleased with the professors, and the education I have received. My GPA is high, but I have worked very hard for it. This school is not for the faint of heart, so be prepared to dedicate a lot of time to your class on reading and writing papers. Also, you must receive a 92% to achieve an A grade, 82% for a B, etc., and during undergrad I was on the standard scale of 90-100% being an A. The only reason I did not give Amberton five stars is due to their current online interface. Although they have made large strides in the past year to upgrade the online experience, there is minimal use of multimedia and interactive resources. Being a smaller school, I understand it takes a large budget to get there, but in my opinion this is the one area their programs are currently lacking. Once they fill this gap, it will be a five star experience. All in all, the education I have received has been extremely valuable, as I can apply it in real-time at my current position. I recommend this program to anyone who is serious about their academics, and wants to use their degree to succeed in the future. I'm very confident my degree will enhance my ability to be promoted in the future.

Parking is free, there is NO gym, and everyone is a commuter. All classes are in the evening, on Saturday mornings, or online. The professors understand that they are teaching working adults, and sometimes the demands of work or family cause us to miss class. They were ALWAYS willing to accommodate me. I had terrific professors at Amberton. Most of them have been there a long time, and I only had one adjunct while I was there. Classes were not huge, so I felt that I had the opportunity to get to know my profs. They were always available for office hours, which I frequented often. Best part about Amberton--the price. It is so much cheaper than other schools around. I got out of graduate school with no debt. Study groups were abundant. The book store was terrific about buying back my books. The staff was always helpful. The campus is not pretty. There are not a lot of degree choices or elective choices. This is truly a no frills university. To me, none of that stuff mattered as long as I graduated without debt! Check it out if you are looking into grad work or undergrad work.

The leg was getting more swollen, red and hot. The nurse in charge of that floor always had a "deer in the headlights look" and did not convey to the physician Dad's medical condition with accuracy. Thus the physician didn't come in to look at my father. Upon calling the Director of Nurses (DON) I didn't get any response. It was on the third day when I finally hunted the DON down in the facility (it took me 45 minutes of actively walking the halls and searching for him) and DEMANDED that he call the doctor immediately that the doctor called in a STAT doppler on Dad's leg. The results showed a full leg DVT from the pelvic artery to his ankle. This wouldn't have beens o severe if they had paid attention to my father's condition OR had reponded to my request to have Dad's leg examined the first day. (Apparently the nurse didn't want to bother the doctor at Christmas) This resulted in permanent damage to Dad's vascular system in that leg. THis condition also caused a plumonary embolism that almost killed my father as the DVT threw a clot that went to the lungs. If I hadn't tracked down the DON when I did and demanded medical attention my father would be dead. I should have filed a law suit but didn't. (What was I THINKING!!!!) I was busy working a full-time job and still had a very ill mother I was trying to care for who needed two major surgeries (I almost lost her also). I regret not filing a law suit. I would hate to see anybody else go through what my father and my family had to go through. This facility at one time had the BEST ratings in the Dallas area. There was an administration change and I wouldn't recommend this facility to anyone after my experiences.

I went to visit their original location on Northwest Hwy. conveniently located right next to the Dallas Police Northwest Division. Fun fact: did you know that they have a roastery next to their original location? How amazing! However, that one is by appointment only, so check with them for more details. Shoutout to the White Rock Coffee staff for welcoming us back with open arms, as well as introducing new drinks to us that were of high demand and interest. One, however, that really did catch my eye, was my all time-favorite: the White Rocker, which included two shots of espresso, whole milk, and their signature White Rock syrup. My friend on the other hand, got the Lone Star Latte -- chai with a hint of that White Rock syrup that they put in there as well! Because of their roastery, all of their coffee beans are sourced from local partners and cooked and roasted right here in the heart of Dallas. I'm just really glad that I was able to really catch up with the times that there are, honestly. I'll definitely be back to visit more whenever I'm in the DFW! Y'all have my support! :)

Well, talk about a hidden gem. I had this place bookmarked but could not tell you where I heard…read moreabout it. It is basically a little luncheon oasis dropped right in the middle of a gigantic industrial park. On the drive over I was seriously questioning my Yelp choices. It is that kind of location. But trust Yelp and sometimes you are handily rewarded, which we absolutely were. We came after a few hours strolling around at the Botanical Gardens, so we rolled in around 1:30 and there were still plenty of people there. I can only imagine at noon this place is packed, and honestly it should be. My biggest complaint is the menus. There is one above the counter that does not include everything, and then a different, more complete version if you scan the QR code at the table (But 2 different navigations even on the website with slightly different menus). Do yourself a favor and look it up ahead of time so you are not standing there making panic decisions. There is a half sandwich and half soup combo (Not on the board but online menu), which is definitely the move. I got the pozole, which you should absolutely order, and a half grilled cheese on their housemate sourdough. Normally not my go to, but I was trying not to be completely stuffed since we had dinner plans. And they bake their own sourdough, so I had a strong feeling it would be great, and it delivered. Toasty and melty, American and cheddar. My husband got the southwestern wrap, and my friend went with the half club and half tomato soup. She immediately regretted not getting the pozole and the half birria sandwich, which tells you everything you need to know. Also need to mention the snickerdoodle. Not much to look at, kind of humble, but it completely makes up for it with flavor and that perfect soft texture. Go ahead and get the cookie. You are not here to make responsible decisions. Bottom line, it may feel like you are driving into the middle of nowhere, but keep going. This place is worth it.

I had the sausage, egg, green chile, and cheese burrito - not the best burrito I've ever had, but tastes way better if you add the salsa. It's a quick way to get your protein fix in. I enjoyed my iced Mexican mocha; it wasn't too sweet or creamy. If I lived closer by, I wouldn't mind getting this more routinely. Oh, their service was surprisingly fast and efficient. They even gave me a free sticker from their sticker day. I'll definitely be back when I'm in town.

They do a free coffee for your birthday through the app too which is the best!! Especially since they don't make you redeem it the day of! I don't like to be that person that shoves in front of others so I waited it out until there was a good opening but it could be more efficient if it's in another location :) The inside is nice and clean with lots of space! I learned to understand when to sing loudly and when to sing softly. But I never learned which voice was my own. I never learned how to use what I have already because I was so caught up trying to sound like everyone else, I never embraced my own sound. My thinking has prevented me all this time, from growing as a singer. The ability has been there, the desire has absolutely been there, but with a clouded mind, the greatest of any talents becomes average, at best. Both of my parents were leaders in church, singing traditional black gospel music, filled with soul. Lots of runs, lots of modulations and key and tempo changes, lots of drawn out vowels, extended breath holds, stratosphere-level bridge notes... but most of all, they always had emotion. There was passion that lead them when they sang. I remember saying, "I'll never be able to sing like them, so I hold back a lot because I can't do what they did." In our first session, her reply was simple: "You CAN do it. And you will sing even BETTER than they did." Just to have a positive voice to trust more than my own negative thinking, that alone would be worth my time. But she's taken time to help me understand when to use my full voice vs my falsetto, how to project sound in every range, how to shape notes to match my strongest vowel sounds, how to be willing to make a mistake and learn from it. And whereas I used to refrain from allowing anyone to hear me singing, now, it's common for me to sing out freely at work, at church and everyone else, with little concern for who is listening. I still have lots to learn, but I'm grateful to be learning it in a safe place.
