Let me start by saying the receptionist and detail fellow seemed nice enough but the trade in guys yeiks. First he failed to introduce himself or show any customer service or greeting or any kind. This is a manager mind you , still chewing and scoffing because I wanted to ride along, gets into my truck to drive it, then begins to pick his teeth with his fingers and touch my shifter and steering. This was the entire drive. Gross man get a toothpick and give some customer service. I am a bit tan for that kind of respect I suppose. At least that the vibe he gave. This post is strictly related to selling a car at Emmert. I went in to inquire about selling my '23 Sierra 1500 AT4. The Kelley Blue Book trade in range was 61-65K. I was getting offers in the mid 50s from multiple locations including Carmax. They made me an offer that was on the higher end of the KBB trade in and I graciously accepted. My review for Emmert Motors is very much a stand alone review and for a service item only done one other time previously by another dealership, and for which that dealership also got a good review. Emmert Motors is located in St. Helen's, Oregon, barely outside Multnomah County, thus not too far from Portland, and in Columbia County along the highway that takes motorists to and from Astoria. I remember that I called 3 or 4 service departments for the price on this menu item that you typically do based on years or mileage. You can't do that with a text and get a feel for an outfit! While the prices for this service weren't that far apart from each other, Emmert came in with the best price. The service advisor was very matter of fact and I told him I'd like to have it done while waiting, which he said he could accommodate. I remember this place from when I once needed to order a car and ran into personnel who are still working there. That told me a lot. This dealership's vibe is very understated, which I like. As for my service appointment, the job was promised within one hour and the keys were handed to me in 45 minutes. I only went in for one service item and that's what they did. The price turned out to be exactly what I was told. While waiting, I went into the showroom to look at cars, told them "I'm in service," and was told to let them know if I needed anything. I thought to myself, "As it should be." (I had an experience at another dealership where I told a salesman I was "in service," to which he coyly replied with a grin that he's sold cars to people in service. I have impulse purchase impulses when it comes to candy bars ... but not when it comes to cars ... because cars are not candy bars.) A salesperson who pushes me to buy a product or a service will rarely ever score a sale from me. In addition to looking at cars and the color and seating swatches, I also got some coffee, walked around the small downtown, sat in the waiting area, and pet a beautiful dog someone had with them. I appreciate Emmert's simple approach and it's good to know dealerships like this are around. I first met them when Pontiac still was a brand and they were Emmert Pontiac-Buick(-GMC). They are now Emmert Chevrolet-Buick, so they now carry GM's bread and butter car and truck brands and the price points that go along with that. Clearly, they are a Columbia County dealer, but Emmert can also be reached from NW Portland, the Tualatin Valley (providing Cornelius Pass is passable), and from SW Washington. This place was a breath of fresh air and I remember thinking "keep up the good work" ... and "as it should be." This expression has 4 words and that straightforward service experience I had with Emmert, in addition to passing through town en route to and from the coast and checking out their cars over the years without being hassled, point to 4 stars. Worst mechanics in existence. They replaced the entire front end on my dodge diesel pickup ($1,600) and when I went to pick it up, the steering wheel was mostly upside-down. They told me it didn't matter, and grudgingly fixed it; then the "new front end" failed at 150 (one hundred and fifty) miles. It was warranteed so they took it back and "replaced it again" but then it failed at 500 miles. I only drive this truck maybe 500 miles in 2 years, so by then it was off warrantee. Unbelievably bad and expensive experience. I can't believe that even a "bad" part from Dodge at a dealership would fail in under 150 miles. Lesson: Don't take a vehicle to a mechanic who can't put on a steering wheel...or takes off a steering wheel to replace a pitman arm, perhaps. read more

We had a great buying experience with Riley. We unfortunately did not get the warranty for our 2014 cruze we purchased in Feb 2020. After 6 months and less than 5k miles later, we had to have the water pump replaced. That's where it all went wrong. We feel like they didn't follow through with checking everything when we had it towed in the first time. Then, a 2nd time. This is when we found out the motor was shot. After sitting with the manager, we were completely unimpressed with this company. Cameron was very condescending, basically rubbing in the fact that we didn't buy their warranty. This is a mistake that should have been caught the first time we brought the car in to be fixed. When we got the car home, we noticed that parts of the car weren't put back together. So nice and candidly an exception to deal with a car dealership that treats each customer with respect. They are a small town dealer in the best sense. No pushy salesperson wanting to sell you their highest margin product and/or what they have in stock that they want to unload. Instead they truly listen as to what are your priorities and needs. Then they will provide you whatever amount of information (accurate) you request. Speaking also to their parts and service operations, both of which have been extremely helpful to me, again they treated me and my vehicles (several occasions) with care. They go out of their way to insure your vehicle is respected from the time you show up until you drive away. I found their pricing to be really, really fair. Really good people. Mr. Emmert and his sales manager, Cameron Nolan were very straight forward and professional! Cameron gave us an excellent sales agreement offer including a very good trade-in value which we were very excited about. We had a personal change in our need and situation and after giving a $500 deposit had to change our mind on the sale and trade-in. They quickly returned our deposit and we will certainly return to work with them as soon as our personal situation changes back to needing to purchase again. If you are just going to buy a car here, I would highly recommend them. If you plan to get your car serviced here, just go somewhere else. I purchased a brand new truck from them and the process & trade-in was great, very fair and easy to work with. When my BRAND NEW truck started making loud knocking noises, the service department took multiple trips to diagnose. Then they called it an "operational condition" (this is a fancy term for "we don't know what's wrong with it but we don't want to work on it anymore" ). Then they figured it was a faulty starter and replaced it after about a month and multiple trips to the dealership (no loaner car, no clean/wash, just sit and wait). At this point the truck had a few hundred miles on it. Fast forward two years, I have two new Chevrolets and religiously service them at Emmert. My truck came with 2 free oil changes in the first two years, when it came time to use the second free oil change, they told me it was 19 days over the two year deadline to get my oilchange, so they were not going to honor that program. I called the dealership and expressed my concerns before posting this review and they didn't even care to acknowledge me. So if nickel & diming a loyal customer out of one service they already paid for is worth losing my business forever, so be it. Bottom line; Sales Team = great. Service department = there may be a worse one on planet earth, I just haven't been there yet. read more

My old hand-me-down car broke down on me for good. & I had to be at work the next day. So I called emmert & purchased my first (new to me) car from them. The car salesman knew my situation and worked hard to make sure I got a car that same day. (2016 chevy malibu ltz) my past financial situation can be off putting when you look at it on paper, but he found a bank that would give me an auto loan. I was amazed. This dealership provided me with the worst possible customer service and experience that I could ever imagine, lasting three long months. I had brought my grandfather's truck in for some repairs, as he wanted to sell the vehicle and it had a check engine light on (he is 86 years old and has bought many vehicles from this dealership, he is a very long-time loyal customer). This truck was a 2008 Colorado with 24,000 original miles, very low milage. They told me that they had replaced one of the sensors that I also had replaced six months prior, however that the second sensor that I replaced must be defective. I was told that the part that I had purchased was no good because it wasn't a "GM" part. I bought there part anyway and installed their "GM" part. Upon installing the dealerships "GM" part, nothing changed, and the check engine light remained. I then decided to swap the other sensor that I had replaced also with the one they installed six months ago. Now the truck had all "GM" parts that came from their dealership. No change, light still on. Brought the truck back to the dealership and they looked at it for two weeks and told me that it must be a third sensor that has not been replaced. I tell them to fix it and they charge me for the repair. A week later I go to pick the truck up now that it was fixed, and the light came back on the second I turned the truck back on. Immediately came back into the dealership and they told me that their manual from GM did not have any other fixes for them so that they would have to contact GM to see what could be causing the problem. I drove the truck home. Two weeks later I never heard from anyone about anything. I came into the dealership with a Letter outlining everything that had occurred and explained my frustration with them being unable to fix the vehicle. I gave this letter to the service manager and talked with her explaining that I was upset that they not only didn't fix the vehicle but that they didn't contact me for two weeks. She had another tech look at my vehicle and he was able to tell me what he believed was wrong with the truck in one day. Why did I have to wait two weeks? They quote me for a $1200 repair. At this point for all of the repairs that had been done to the vehicle for the same problem had cost $750 and I was not about to give them another $1200. I was able to negotiate a discount of all of the previous repair work off of the total and I begrudgingly gave them about $600 for the remainder of this repair. This repair required removing the major components of the engines top end to replace a gear/pully. Upon removal of these parts, they discovered rust inside the engine caused by the vehicle not being driven long enough to get the vehicle up to temperature (my grandfather didn't drive far). They continued the repair without ever informing me that they discovered rust until I had already paid them, and they had reassembled the engine. I only found out about it through their notes on my receipt. I drove the truck two times after these major repairs before the light came back on again for the same issue. I went back to the dealership to schedule yet another appointment. The truck sits for two weeks in my driveway. Two weeks Later I start the truck and the light has magically disappeared. I take the truck in to ask about it anyway, assuming that they would look at it under a warranty for their previous repair. I ask if they are going to charge me for looking at it , and they say absolutely they would. I am appalled that they would yet again ask me for more money again. This resulted in what was essentially an argument between myself and three of the dealership employees including the service manager and the last tech that did the repairs. Every one of them wanted to tell me that they provided me "great customer service" and that they hadn't "wasted any of my time" (at this point I had been in contact with them fixing the truck for 84 days) 84 days is completely unreasonable for literally any vehicle repair. How can an employee say that they have provided me "great customer service" If I am standing in front of them telling them that they have done a poor job? They were unwilling to do anything for me without me paying for it, even including just showing me under the truck where they were going to look for rust. When I asked, their "master tech" said that he wasn't going to get under my truck to literally just point with his finger. He must think very highly of himself. The Service manager was also unwilling to provide me a refund either, even after the "master tech" suggested that they refund me. So they left me with nothing left to do. Three months of my time and a bunch of money wasted. I was treated poorly, I was given no sympathy, they took forever to do anything and all they cared about was my money. A.D.D. Version: Best dealership experience I've ever had. Fantastic staff, great prices, all around solid dealership. Full Version: I've bought and sold a dozen or so cars and this was the best experience I've had to date. While it very well could have ended on a negative note due to the original car I was going to lease from them fell through, a few phone calls, several hours of problem solving and getting picked up by Michael Emmert himself from another dealership over 30 miles away and we had a deal was inked on another car. I ended up purchasing instead of leasing and I even did my financing through them too because they offered a highly competitive rate. Andrea, my salesperson was phenomenal from the get go. She was the initial person I dealt with when I called because they had a very lightly used Chevy Volt I was interested in as well as a brand new 2016 model. Out of the 4 dealerships I spoke with, she stood out immediately. She was courteous, informative, knowledgeable and not your typical pushy salesperson. After running #s on purchasing the used Volt versus leasing the new 2016, I was going to move forward with leasing the new Volt, but wasn't able to finalize the deal. The situation got even worse because I was already at another dealership in Beaverton where I had just sold my car, so I was now stuck without a car and the deal I thought was a slam dunk was now off the table. And this is where Emmert Motors earned my respect and made me a customer for life. Michael called me and we discussed the situation, my options and settled on a price for the used Volt I was originally interested in. We arranged a ride for me from someone at his dealership to pick me up, so I could finalize the paperwork and drive off with the "new" Volt. Michael ended up picking me up himself and we had a really nice conversation all the way from Beaverton to St Helens. When we arrived at his dealership the paperwork was already together, the Volt was ready to go and we were done in a matter of minutes. The situation went from good to bad and back to good because of Michael and his team, when it easily could have remained bad. Since purchasing the car I've received follow up emails and calls to make sure everything is good with the vehicle and it just shows how this dealership isn't just trying to make a quick buck, but is proud of their brand, the cars they sell and the people they work with. All around Emmert Motors is a class act which is why I felt compelled to write this novel. *No animals were hurt in the drafting of this review, but my dogs did go a little hungry waiting for their breakfast. read more

2016 Denali 3500 Duramax - Hands down, the worst service experience I have ever had at a dealership. I showed up to my scheduled 9:00 am oil change about 5 minutes early. I checked in and went through what I wanted done: oil change; fuel filter replacement; DEF filled. I finished checking in and was told it would be about an hour. I sat down in the waiting room and began my wait. 10:00 came and went and around 10:30 I went up to the counter to check on my vehicle and was told they were just finishing up - no other explanation was offered. Figuring they were just closing the hood, I went and sat back down in the waiting room. As I sat, the same gentleman that I check in with and told me they were "just finishing" walked past me no less than 4 times and never once said a word to me. By now, the time was 11:10 (2 hours and 10 minutes for an oil and fuel filter change) and I went back to the counter to ask if there was an issue with my truck. At that point I was told by the same gentleman that a new tech was working on my $65k truck and was still learning as he just transferred from Toyota. It was further explained to me that he was performing a full fuel system flush on my truck instead of the fuel filter change. My head nearly exploded. I was told that they were truly almost done this time and for my inconvenience I would not be charged for the fuel system flush that I never asked for. What an offer!!! At this point I was in utter disbelief. I calmly expressed my displeasure in the situation and was once again told how great the deal was they were giving me on the service that I didn't want (Fuel system flush on a brand new truck by a tech that has no idea what he is doing???). I waited another 20 minutes before I was called up to check out. I was charged full price for the work requested which I paid without argument just to get out of there. Just to add insult to injury, the cashier made sure to tell me I was getting a great deal on the fuel system flush. Are you kidding me!?!? I was handed the keys and told my truck was waiting for m in front of the service bay. Thank goodness this experience was over..... I walk out from the waiting room to the service bays and don't see my truck. I walk around the area and begin to push the panic button to locate it, but it is nowhere to be seen or heard. At this point I just had to laugh to calm myself down. I walked back in to the cashier and asked her if she knew where my truck was as it was definitely not by the service bay. She went to the back and a few minutes later the original gentleman came back and pointed to a gravel strip out by some railroad tracks about a block and a half away. There was my truck. He asked me to give him the keys so he could get it but that sounded like an invitation for another disaster, so I declined and began the hike to my vehicle. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by greasy hand prints on the fenders and door handle. Opening the door revealed a strong chemical smell. All I wanted to do was go back in and unload on the most incompetent service department I have ever encountered, but knew it would fall on deaf ears. And just to put the cherry on top, on my drive home flipping through the computer to make sure my meters were reset, I found that they had not filled up the DEF. read more

Salesman was awesome. The car I bought not so much. I've had it less than a year and it's already been in the shop 3 times for non-maintenance problems and the check engine light comes on sporadically, the transmission won't downshift sometimes causing the check engine like to flicker on and off. I wouldn't buy from here again. Update 10/24/17 Tried to call owner as his reply to this review states: I never got a call back. I just brought my car in for service again because the warranty states I have to bring it to the dealer if I live within 40 miles of the selling dealer. My car is making a loud knocking type noise. Once again the "Hi-Tech" warranty won't cover the issue. I have 2 broken exhaust bolts and a warped exhaust manifold. They want almost $3000.00 to fix it. The "Hi-Tech" warranty they sell has only covered half of the issues I've had in less than a year of owning this car. I'm now stuck fixing it myself, yet again... read more

Mitch was AWESOME! My daughters car broke down at an intersection in town. She was nervous as it never happened to her before. I called Mitch from Tacoma and explained what we knew. He was awesome. They were able to get the car to him the next morning. They diagnosed a cracked radiator. They didn't have it in stock, and it was Friday. They had it repaired early Tuesday. Tested and made sure everything was fine. He even gave her his phone number at home for over the weekend if she had any questions or concerns. Well I have to be honest here. I'm not impressed with their sales department. I originally e-mailed a guy that wears two hats. He is in finance and sales. Does both. Thats ok with me. He can help me at both ends. Perfect it was not. He handed me off to a sales person who e=mailed me with vague information. This is after I gave all details to the first person. I e-mailed him back, but still had difficulty. I just decided to wait to see if he would try to connect with me later. Nothing. He must not of be interested enough in selling anything. Can't ever remember a time when a sales person just ignored you before. Usually you can't get rid of them. Funny/Odd.... So I decided to call. I got hold of someone completely different, but the results were the same. After telling me that the truck I wanted was gone, and saying he would try to locate one similar, I agreed. Guess he's not really interested in sales either. Noting back all day long. I will have to look some where else. I'm heading to Phoenix at the end of this month and look there. So disappointing... Drove up to the service room, immediately greeted with a smile and was set up for New vehicle service. They expained the service to be done by them and said it would be about 1 1/2 hrs. I returned just 5 minutes before and they were just backing the vehicle out of the stall. The service manager then took the time to introduce me to the owner and also showed me some dashboard fixtures that I was not aware of. Great service along with that Small town feel. read more

Michell is a liar and will blow you off. 2016 GMC in need of repair took her 5 days to get me a quote after stating I would have it in less than 24 hours. After receiving it and a quick email I was told she had contacted my insurance who said they would only do small repairs and wouldn't replace the damaged parts. That turned out to be a lie and we have since gone with Weston GMC for our needed repairs that were over $2000 more than she quoted and lied about. If you want half assed service with low integrity than look no further otherwise run far away and or to Portland where people have a better business model and want to actually fix people's vehicles with pride to pre loss conditions read more

After purchasing two trucks from Emmert, one very recently, I will never do business with them again. When I bought my new truck Riley Cronin handled all the closing issues. One of the things they knew was that I wanted to purchase a running board and a canopy. Riley asked if I wanted to order those that day but I wasn't prepared at that time to order them. Once I was ready to order a canopy I went to Emmert and placed the order not wanting there to be any mistakes given I have no idea the exact color or size of my bed. Long story short, the wrong canopy was ordered. Since this had been discovered Emmert has made no effort to rectify this mistake. In fact our phone calls are being ignored. Needless to say, I am dumbfounded at their lack of accountability for this mistake. I will never recommend anyone purchase a car from Emmert and after 20 years of business they will never see me again. read more

Emmert takes weeks longer to repair your vehicle then promised and try to push you into buying a new car. I did not like how they left the inside of my car with dirty hand marks and repair part wrappers. The staff act like you shouldn't ask questions. The one gentleman was polite however.
