For Emmett's Brewing, I feel that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts: food, drink, atmosphere, service. Nothing "wowed" me, but taken together, lunch and drinks here was a very enjoyable experience. My chicken pot stickers were unusually tangy, neither good nor bad, but different. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the dark beer I had, and their drink menu has changed since then. I thought it had a lower ABV for a stout and could have been a little stronger, but it had a nice flavor. We had a great waiter who rolled with our humor and provided excellent service.

My aunt and I come here quite frequently and I was excited they had a separate GF menu. I ordered a beyond burger with a GF bun and whipped potatoes. They also had GF French onion soup that I ordered to go. It was the best GF bun that I have tried. The food and service were fantastic.

Wow ... We'd not visited in a while ... no particular reason, just lots of restaurants in the area I guess. We had a spectacular dinner - with super service (from Josh) ... he was helpful, attentive & quite funny! We love the spot ... it's cozy & comfy ... Since I was hungry for a steak (unusual) ... I had a delicious filet with potato & hubby had pasta with shrimp special which was yummy too. Josh suggested the espresso cheesecake and it was wonderful ... couple glasses of Merlot & yum!

Met some friends on a Monday night since their Daily Special was half priced burgers. Located in downtown Palatine near the train station, parking can be an issue. Luckily it was not too crowded and we found parking nearby. The restaurant was not very crowded and we were seated immediately. They have a nice beer selection so I tried their Red Ale named the Vendetta. 6.3ABV. It was OK. Their food menu is quite large but pricey. They do offer a gluten free menu and they have Daily Specials which they list on their Web site. We started with an order of potato skins which were overcooked and dry. I tried the Gaucho Burger that was supposed to have a Tajin seasoned steak burger ( I did not taste Tajin) ,Guacamole,Pico,Cheddar Cheese and Tortilla Strips. This burger was lacking in flavor. I asked for Medium Well and everyone's burgers were overcooked. The Guacamole tasted store bought, the cheese was cold and not melted and the Tortilla Strips were stale. Thank goodness I only paid half of the normal 18.00 they charge. I really had high hopes for this place but with so many brewpubs in the Northwest suburbs,I probably won't go back.

The Raspberry Cosmo was amazing! Made with fresh raspberry puree, it was one of the best I've ever had. Along with half price burgers on Mondays and other great daily specials, Emmett's is the place to go.

It was a very windy evening otherwise we would have sat on their beautiful patio but the inside was very nice with high ceilings and generously sized booths for our party of four. The server was pleasant but hurriedly took plates away while I still had a bite of my Beyond burger in hand! It's not like she was busy because the restaurant was fairly empty. I enjoyed the char they got on my plant based burger because it was not at all mushy. My husband's burger was definitely overcooked so he was disappointed. My dissatisfaction came with the side of coleslaw. It had that taste that is an inch away from being spoiled so I left it. I would have preferred sweet potato fries but to her credit the server warned me that they are not gluten free. With so many restaurants in this area it will be hard to return here which is unfortunate.

For the hand-cut meats, we tried the brisket and pulled pork. Both were incredibly tender, smoky, and practically melted in your mouth. We also ordered the cornbread and mac and cheese, and both were standout sides. The cornbread was huge, dense, and still perfectly moist. I was a little worried the mac and cheese would be too spicy because of the Hot Cheetos, but it actually had just the right amount of kick. The combination of creamy mac and crunchy Cheetos made it extra flavorful. To finish the meal, we shared a burger, and wow , it was juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. You do have to order at the counter, but the staff was super friendly and helpful. They gave us great recommendations on which meats to try, which made the experience even better.

Our Burger Club finally made it's way to Jimmy D's back in December of 2025. It was a Monday night,…read moreand kinda cold outside. There were seven of us and we all converged from Buffalo Grove and Vernon Hills. Jimmy D's doesn't come up on your normal burger place lists in and around the area, but we saw a post somewhere and knew we had to check this place out, especially if it ended up being across from the future home of the Chicago Bears. We'd probably end up hanging out there and wanted to make sure it was a good enough place to hang and be a part of the action, whilst not paying for said action. Anyhoo, we all pulled up to find a nice parking lot next to/behind the restaurant. It's a cool place with a couple entrances (one in the lot and the other from the street). It's a nicely adorned building and has the requisite sports decor on the inside with plenty of televisions to watch many games at once. There was plenty of seating for our group as it was quite empty on a Monday night and there wasn't any game of note when we were there. We called ahead letting them know our numbers and they accommodated us with a reserved table. They were attentive and constantly refilled out waters and sodas and brought more beer when needed/requested. The service was friendly and attentive. We were there for the burgers of which there are four options: the House burger, the Fried Egg Burger, the Mac Daddy, and a Black Bean burger. However, stipulations for being in our club is that you can only order a red meat-based burger. We did order the buffalo sauced wings as an appetizer to share. They were sauced nicely, not too hot, and quite good. I would definitely recommend getting them if you visit. I also ordered the cream of chicken soup. It was a perfect option for the cold night and I rank it among one of the better cream of chicken soup options in the suburbs. While not a sommelier of cream of chicken soup, I do rank it quite well: I think it matches Jameson's Char House for quality, thickness, and flavor. Mama clearly knows what she's doing with her soup. I opted for the Mac Daddy burger. It's prepared with: black angus beef, boom boom sauce, house mac n' cheese, bacon, fried onions, sliced jalapeños, toasted brioche. I normally don't opt for the special/signature house sauces as I've been burned before by these so-called "recommended" house sauces (I'm looking at you, Lucky Burger, with your terrible "dijonnaise" sauce - ugh, don't get me started on THAT sauce). However, I was told it's a hot sauce for the burger and figured it wouldn't overpower everything else on the burger. The mac n' cheese was a tad creamy, but so what, the bacon, fried onions, jalapenos, and boom boom sauce cut into the creaminess a bit and it worked. And it didn't overpower the flavor of the burger, which I thought it would, but somehow didn't. I really liked this burger, the bun held up, the bacon stayed crispy, and jalapenos and sauce added a nice kick but not overwhelmingly so. I would get this again. The sandwiches come with housemade fries or tots, but I know that if tots are offered, you can (generally) never go wrong with tots (I'd point out Puck's Pub but they closed and did the world a favor in doing so). Everyone generally liked their burgers and would return again. In our 5 point scale, Jimmy D's District got a 4.25. They have a nice brunch menu and drinks to match and I want to try them out someday. Let me know if you're going and I'll meet ya there if available.
