Really can't even review this place since we never got a server. We were told a 5-10 minute wait for an outdoor table even though half of them were empty. Finally got seated and no server. We only wanted a beer, so thought we might have better luck at a high top in the bar but again no server - someone behind the bar periodically and a server on the floor and not even an acknowledgement. Total of 20 minutes and not even a "be right with you." On our way out we told the hostess we never got a server and she goes "sorry". Nothing else. Based on this I probably wouldn't give them another chance. We went back to Tap House and got great service. read more

Love coming here once in a while. The staff is doing a wonderful job of keeping people socially distanced from each other. My husband has the chicken pub sandwich with chips. He said the taste was good, but that the sandwich was too small. We also shared an order of the spinach artichoke dip, which was delicious! The addition of red peppers to it really made it pop. Also, the pita chips were toasted and seasoned perfectly! I had their prime rib special, which came with green beans, and a baked potato. The meat was cooked perfectly, and it had A LOT of juice, which soaked into the green beans. The potato was good, too. However, they put a casing of salt on top of the potato, and it was just too much. Overall, the beer was good, the food was good, and the staff did an excellent job of making us feel safe. A pleasant enough brew pub, staffed with what on the first contact seem to be graduates from a TGI Fridays. However, we were here for a group dinner and seated in a separate room were we were served by a pleasant and more than competent senior server. Our food selections differed from what is listed on their menu, and most agreed they were good if a bit on the small side. The house beer seems overpriced at about $6 for what appears to be a 10 -11 oz. glass, but was comparable in quality to other brew pubs locally. read more

Food quality has slipped, went there last week and we bought steak and prime rib. Meat was not cooked properly with the center raw and crust burnt, no seasoning anywhere to be found on the meat. I loved this spot in downtown palatine! Great food, drinks, and service. I am so fascinated by breweries, so it was fun eating at one. Their flight deal is amazing- $3.50 for a whole flight if you get an appetizer! I highly suggest the spinach and artichoke dip for your app pick. The best I've had hands down. Creamy and delicious with nice tomato topping and warm tasty seasoned pita bread. This along with my Cobb salad was more than filling! The Cobb salad is also a great choice- somewhat healthy but delicious nonetheless. I will definitely be back soon to try more beers and food! I know meat prices have gone up but by skimping this way you are hurting your business. Please go back to the way you were doing it. So disappointed in recent visit. Nothing at Emmett's overly impressed me but I have to say the service really stuck out to me here. Not in the good way. The hostess is super duper friendly and I think this place would be better served with someone like her waiting on tables. Our actual server was so insanely slow and completely disinterested. She was unfriendly and just not happy at all, it really affected our whole dining experience. There would be huge blocks of time where she would disappear. We were done eating for about 20 minutes before she came to our table again & we asked for our check. Then another 20-30 minutes for the process of actually getting our check and paying. It just dragged on and on and on... The real kicker for me though was when two guys grabbed a table behind us and she greeted them in a super duper friendly way. Wtf? Sexism up in here! The chick don't like chicks. Even if that's not the case, that's absolutely the impression we were left with here. Prices here are quite high. My friend and I opted not to have any of their entrees here which range $14-$23, though they do have burgers for $10-14. We both got a couple of small plates (ranging from $3-11) most of which interestingly/strangely come with a side. So...you could get the $4 mini slider potentially and get it with a side of their fries. Weird concept but hey I'm down with more food. I got the Pork Belly Taco for $5 and the Slider Trio for $11 consisting of a Pale Ale Pork, Mini Brie Burger and Tenderloin Slider. The pork belly taco was forgettable, I'm a huge pork belly fan and just didn't find the flavor there. The slider trio was a much better choice and I'd recommend it to others. I wouldn't say it was amazing but all three sliders were decent and it was a good value. My big thing this year is trying all the local breweries and Emmett's is just a couple of miles from my house! I was optimistically excited about finding a brewery so close to home that could become a regular hot spot for me. They have a fabulous outdoor patio that I'm sure is amazing to catch a beer on in the summer. Problem is, I didn't really care for any of their beers. Just as with food, liking beer is completely subjective but none garnered more than 2.5 bottle caps from me on Untappd. Their star of the show is definitely the Pale Ale so give that one a try. Actually, give them all a try and judge for yourself! You can try all 5 of their beers for just $6.25! Quite a fantastic deal and you get to see what you like best before ordering a pint. They call it 'The Paddle' and it legit comes out on a paddle. I really liked that they came out with a full description of each beer and the description correctly corresponded to the beer on the paddle. Made it super easy for me to keep track of them while going through each one. Especially since our server really didn't offer anything in this area, no descriptions, never asked if I liked them, just so insanely unfriendly. Honestly I think my whole experience was dampened by such poor service. I really would like to go back, sit on the patio, try some different foods and definitely get a different server. read more

Fairly quiet for a Friday night at 6ish. Beautiful building and atmosphere. Expensive for a pub - $18 burger and $8 beers. Prime rib was $24 so not sure why the burger is high. Good beer selection, two session IPAs. Blah burger, blah meat on blah bun. Lots of servers, iffy service, three asks to get a water, table next to us waited 15 minutes for a check. Clearly it's been a little bit since we've been there since my favorite item the sliders weren't on the menu. That makes me sad. We went for the spinach artichoke dip to start. The pita was so good. It was toasted perfectly. I love it when it's slightly crisp. Went for a totally new pick with the pulled pork tostadas and glad we did. They were fantastic. Nice restaurant with a comfortable decor, quiet atmosphere, spacious interior, comfortable seating (with outdoor options as well), varied menu, and friendly employees. I went here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch which was quite busy but did not feel crowded at all. As other reviewers have said, the service definitely needs some work as it can be slow at times -- however the quality of food for the price pushes my rating back up to five stars. If the service was improved, I would definitely come back more often and this could be one of my favorite places to go. Beer: I tried the sampler paddle and enjoyed all 5 items. In particular the Munich Light German Lager which was clean and crisp with almost no bitterness, the Pale Ale which was bursting with flavor and body and had a pleasant aftertaste, and the Red Ale which had just the amount of sweetness and toastiness to give a nice complex flavor. Although I am not a big fan out stout, I did enjoy the one I had here. Side Salad: Nice mix of greens with fresh vegetables and croutons. On par with the salads you'll find at nicer Italian restaurants. Pork loin sandwich: Bursting with flavor and juicy meat. Flavored with an apricot glaze, bacon, and garlic mayonnaise with a nice sharp cheddar to match with the flavorful onion roll. Prime rib sandwich: Good size cut of meat (a little thicker than the shavings you'll find in most restaurants), served with crispy onions and horseradish sauce on a flavorful onion roll. Sesame tuna: Slightly overcooked but flavorful and delicious. Actually prepared better than many other specialty seafood restaurants I've tried this dish at (go to Bonefish Grill and try the ahi tuna sashimi for something similar). Sunrise burger: After DC Sarnies had closed in Deerfield, I was afraid i would have trouble finding another awesome burger in the suburbs. However, this burger with a nice thick patty, bacon jam, and fried egg on a brioche bun provided me with the answer to my burger needs. At this point, I was about to give 5 for the food but lowered to 4 for service, however the dessert was so good it changed my mind. Snickers pie: Arguably an improvement on the original candy -- just the right amount of caramel and chocolate with an ice cream that's not too sweet on a crust of crumbled oreo cookies. Simple, but profound in its flavor. Raspberry tiramisu: Wow, this was bursting with flavor and aroma -- even without the general heavy liquor flavor you usually expect, it was a great item. The texture was silky smooth, the marscapone cheese provided a full body, the presentation was excellent -- all tied together with just the right amount of raspberry flavor. Definitely a must try item if you love both tiramisu and cheesecake. read more

We recently hosted a Baby Shower at the Downers Grove location and were extremely happy with how everything turned out. The venue was roomy yet cozy and warm, the guests loved all the windows and raved about the food, while the service was fantastic. The banquet coordinator couldn't have made things any easier for us. We were able to come in an hour early to decorate and an unplanned bonus was the AV setup in the room. Our out of town guest of honor was prohibited from flying at the last minute by her doctor. Another sub par experience at Emmett's. I work across the street from Emmett's and from time to time my coworkers and I end up there after work. The atmosphere is lovely but I seriously think we need a new place I understand this is a brewery but I had an extremely difficult time ordering something else other than beer. I asked the waiter if they had an open bar and if they were open to making drinking outside of the menu. Waiter said yes but told me the bartender wouldn't make me a Paloma. Fine; I can understand that. Tried to order wine but half of the wine on the menu was unavailable. Fine; I ordered a two wines which were available. Ordered two wine glasses - both came in glasses covered in water spots as if they have been laying around for days. Have some class Emmett's especially if I'm paying $12 for a glass of wine. I was watching a program on TV that showed someone eating a big burger. It had been a while since I had red meat, and it looked so good I just had to have one. I thought of all the burger places around and most have wimpy, flat patties, so we sent to Emmett's knowing they'd have a thick burger (and beer of course). Sure enough, they had a decent burger and their Peacekeeper beer was very good and quite potent. But the reason I'm writing is that with all the greatness of this place, there was one thing missing during our visit. It was a server with a personality. I'm not trying to be mean, but the personality of the server can add so much to the dining experience. Heck, I can go to a butcher shop and get great meat, buy a growler of Peacekeeper and barbecue a tasty burger while drinking that on my patio. But it's not the same. A server who jokes... or at least smiles, adds something to my meal. On paper, our server was great. She was knowledgeable about the menu and beer selection, she took the order correctly, brought out the food and drink quickly, and checked back to make sure we are enjoying the food and drink. And I gave her an above average tip for doing those things. But through all that, the one thing that never changed was the dead-pan, serious look on her face. She never smiled even when I made a poor attempt at humor. I mention it so maybe she, and others who serve the public face-to-face will realize how much their personality adds to their customer's experience and helps them keep their jobs. After hearing good things from a few of my friends me and my family decided to come in for dinner last week. I've never been to a bar/restaurant that had such fast service, everything was brought out super quickly and hot--something that many other restaurants fall short of around here so I was extra happy with that! Our server, Kyle, did a great job listening to what we wanted and making modifications to meals since one of us had a few food allergies/diet restrictions. Other people here have pretty much said it; Above average prices for below average food. We ordered nachos and a Brussels sprout salad. The nachos were mid, about as good as a Taco Bell nacho order, they upspld us on the chili nachos and I'm pretty sure it was just canned chili dumped over chips. On top of that, the brussels sprout salad was all arugula. When we asked if we got the right order they said it was "an arugula based brussel sprout based". I had the potato crusted tilapia, which meant it was breakfast hashbrowns on tilapia. The fish was sitting on some red sauce, which didn't have much flavor. My husband ordered some small plates, a taco, capri salad and wings. He liked it all and the presentation was great. However, it's the same experience I had, it was MEH. This place is good if you like liquor, not if you like food with flavor. I give this three stars because the host and server were great and they were prompt with food. We were in Palatine for a street festival and stopped by Emmett's to get dinner and drinks before the concert we wanted to see. Emmett's is really pretty inside. Lots of hard wood, high ceilings, the big beer brewing casks/vats (?) when you walk in to emphasize that they brew beer...all good things. We were told there was a wait, so we got drinks at the bar first. When we were seated at our table, our server came right away and greeted us. She was attentive the entire night and this was appreciated, as we kept her busy with all of us ordering drinks. I am glad we had a lot of time to kill because it took a while to get our food. After we got our drinks, we waited and waited and waited for our appetizers. We ordered the baked pretzel twists and the potato skins. The potato skins were not impressive at all. They were overcooked to the point of being almost burnt. The pretzel twists did not taste fresh to me. It was like they were reheated and when they started to cool off, they got hard. Two friends ordered the filet mignon and the prime rib. Both were overcooked. The filet mignon (ordered medium) was past well done. I was told the taste was "average." Another friend ordered a jumbo lump crab cake. The server did warn her that it was one small crab cake and the "jumbo" was just to describe the type of crab. She was right. Tiny little crab cake. She also ordered the Cheddar Ale Soup and it was more like a cheese dip than a soup. I ordered a salad and added a piece of salmon to it. It was ok. The salmon was definitely cooked all of the way through--pretty dry. The beer was more enjoyable than the food. At least we had good service. read more

Was super excited to finally try a sip of Emmett's award winning brews: WOW! Undeniably, one of the best IPA beers we've had in a long time. If it wasn't for the fact we were keeping to a lighter evening out, we would have gotten a flight and really taken our taste buds on an adventurous journey of awesomeness! Our bartender, Arianna, never stopped working; from cleaning to serving; thus, her professionalism is impeccable. As a veteran of the industry, I really appreciated her excellent service. As advised, we ordered the Pot Stickers: so, so good! Again, keeping to our plan of a "lightness," we got off the rail and hit the shelves along with the salad and sandwich entrees. Our only regret was not at least checking out the desserts, because after hearing they have a Crème brûlée and Raspberry Tiramisu, we wished we had taken one or both to go! Indeed, never had I imagined moving to the Palatine area would include such wonderful dining experiences as the one we had last night. Oh, cannot forget to mention the manager's tour of their brewing area and party room that really is beautifully perfect for any celebratory event. My husband and I happened to be in the area and we were looking for a good spot to grab lunch and a drink. We parked right near Tap House and were about to go in, but then we saw Emmett's! We're always down to try a new brew and it looked like a nice place to we stopped in. I have to say, I wish I would have read the reviews first, but I am happy I experienced it first hand. We were there around 12 pm on a Friday, so maybe that's one reason we didn't have as bad of an experience as other people. There were other groups in the bar, but overall it wasn't busy at all. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable about the different beers. We decided to split the flight of beers, because it was such a good deal. For only $6.25 we were able to sample 6 different beers. A few we really really like, a couple not so much. It was the perfect amount of beer to accompany our lunch though and it was great to taste so many. I ordered the Slider Trio off the small plate portion of the menu and I thought they were very good! The sliders included a Pale Ale Pork, Mini Brie Burger and a Tenderloin Slider with my choice of a small side. I went with the sweet potato fries. The burgers themselves were really delicious. I loved the variety and whatever kind of buns they used were super tasty. My fries on the other hand, not so good. They were basically served cold which was obviously unpleasant and unacceptable in my book (especially because they weren't very busy). My husband basically had the same experience. He ordered a burger and sweet potato fries - demolished the burger joyfully and sadly left his old fries alone. I personally think after spending about $35 on a lunch, we should have left way more satisfied. This isn't the worst place I've ever been, but definitely not the best. Settled on Emmett's Brewing Co. because of the reviews. Was a little disappointed at the service at the bar. It seems like all of the patrons are best friends with the bartenders. We broke the golden rule of waving a bartender down because we couldn't get anyone to serve us a drink or provide us with a drink menu. We were able to settled for a booth in the bar area after waiting 25 minutes. The service by the waitstaff was a little more attentive, but I have to admit that our moods were soured at that point. With that said.... Truffle Fries Roasted Garlic Aioli, a must have. Fries are beautifully cooked and lightly seasoned with super minced garlic salt and olive oil. It was crispy, it was soft and hot on the inside. A must have as an appetizer. Artichoke & Spinach Dip Crispy Pitas, can pass on it the next time we go. Wasn't anything to write home about. Edible. Slider Trio Pale Ale Pork, Mini Brie Burger, Tenderloin Slider, also a must have. Melt in your mouth pale ale pork and tenderloin sliders. Seasoned wonderfully. The Brie burger was just brie cheese on a small hamburger patty. A little lackluster in my personal opinion. Overall, would probably not visit this establishment again in the near future. I just don't like feeling I'm invisible when I need a drink. The finger foods are worthwhile, but not the service. read more
