Ok my Madera foodie lovers it been a while since I did a review for a Madera business. Emmie's Sidewalk Café did not disappoint. First time there ask for advice from Ali I hope that's how you spell this super friendly young ladies name. What I should order she was so patient. Our coffee order was served nice and hot and prepared perfectly. Our danish and croissant selections were absolutely delicious. The business inside was roomy , clean and fresh. Emmie's Sidewalk Cafe is a bustling morning cafe with plenty of people sitting, chatting, and getting work done during any given morning. We stopped by here on the way to Monterey since we wanted some caffeine for the drive, and we were pleasantly surprised with how lively the cafe was. The baristas were also incredibly nice, patient, and helpful. They made recommendations and served every patron with a smile. I got their ceremonial matcha (they serve both a cafe style and a ceremonial drink) with salted caramel sugar-free syrup and almond milk. In hindsight, I'm getting just regular syrup next time because it tasted pretty artificial--but to be honest, I feel like that's expected when you try to take all the sweetness out of the drink. My sister got their apple pie latte and liked it as well...and I can't remember what my mom got. Either way we thought the space was very cute and had plenty of room and seating, and we just loved the overall vibe of the cafe. I would visit again if I'm ever in the area. read more

My second visit to this new coffee shop. They use mariposa coffee which I love. Pastries looked yummy but I try to stay away from the carbs. They looked good but didn't order food. Got an amaricano with oat milk and lavender and vanilla. The large was 5.25 which wasn't bad at all. This place was pretty busy today. Actually didn't have a place to sit for a little while. Would be cool if they had books or games. Looks like a cool chill spot. Suggestion: Gluten free options, or something carb free Loved: that the barista asked me specific questions on how I wanted my coffee while she was making it. Stopped by for a morning coffee on our way to the coast. I had a pumpkin latte (one of their fall seasonal drinks) and it was sweet, spiced, and creamy. The baristas were working hard to keep up with the morning rush and we did not have to wait very long for our drinks to be ready. The decor when we went was very fall themed and felt very local and cute! I can totally see them expanding the seating or adding more to fill up the space, but I really like the vibe. I'd love to stop by again sometime on my way through Madera! read more

Ordered that with almond milk. Paid for it with a short wait. Very cute little cafe. Kind of hidden away. Seating inside side tables and a comfy couch. Music playing and a Great atmosphere! Their sea breeze latter is yummy and they have great pastries but I wouldn't order matcha drinks from here, I ordered a two different matcha drinks and both times it was literal milk with a pinch of matcha. I felt like I was drinking milk :( $8 for this was a let down read more

So happy to have a local coffee shop to frequent! I stopped by at 7:15 am on a weekday. The space is open and bright with plenty of seating for the size of the space. The barista that served me was very friendly. I ordered a 16 oz matcha latte and a blueberry scone for $10. The matcha latte had a great smooth taste. The blueberry scone was delicious, not dry at all as some can be. I was in and out in about 5 mins. I will definitely return! read more

I have nothing but love for this local coffee shop here in Madera! I don't come to Madera too often but every time I do, I always stop in here for my coffee. I usually come in during the afternoons, and the ambiance is very calm and chill, great place for studying students! Every interaction that I have had with all the baristas has been nothing but wonderful! Emmie's has great employees with wonderful customer service. They also make my coffee amazing every time! I like to try something new each time and it never disappoints! From there iced chai to their iced lattes, it all tastes great! Definitely recommend for if you want to treat yourself to an iced coffee or anything else, support local businesses! read more

Well.... I really wanted to like this place :( They do have delicious lattes and baked goods. I bought the holiday vacy latte. It has coconut, toasted marshmallows, and vanilla. Very obvious flavors. The second I tried it, I knew the girl forgot to put syrup in it. I went back and let her know and she said "are you sure? I made it like normal." And I'm thinking... girl, don't gaslit me. But I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they use very little syrup so I asked her how much syrup. She started telling me and immediately I knew, she forgot the syrup. I asked for a new drink and she said, "sure! I'll give you a discount on this one." And I'm thinking... what??? You messed up my drink and you're giving me a discount on a new one? But I don't like making a big deal out of things so I said okay sure. Sure enough, the second drink definitely had coconut and vanilla. It was good. But it just threw me off. I went in today for the first time. I was surprised how spacious & cozy it was inside. Nice young lady greeted me soon as I walked in and told me she'll be with me soon. Saw she was fixing a drink. Looking at the menu meanwhile & noticed they had croissant sandwiches. I ordered a 16oz iced Dubai latte w/oatmilk & Breakfast croissant sandwich (egg, sausage &cheese) at first I wanted a chicken salad option but they were out of it. Price $14.50 total. I sat in this cute comfy lil' blue leather sofa while I waited maybe 5mins for my drink to be ready. Soon as I got my coffee I took a sip & ohh it's was so so good. I swear I drank it down so fast! Love the bits of pistachios in my drink. I will get it again. I'm guessing it's a limited time drink? So I will be back very soon. Sandwich was yummy too! I got a simple iced vanilla latte from Emmie's coffee truck at the school the first time i tried it i was very disappointed. Before i made my order i asked how many pumps of vanilla do they do for their vanilla lattes & the cashier taking my order looked confused and she said 8 pumps. That was already a red flag for me but i told her can you do half sweet because i like to taste the coffee i don't want it to taste like sugar. She said okay and i got my coffee really quick. I am a coffee snob so i know a little bit about coffee and how it should taste. The latte was horrible... it tasted like an espresso shot that was pulled way too fast. The fact that it didn't even look like they WDT or tamped their puck is wild to me so I'm sure the beans weren't dialed in correctly. So today i decided to give them another chance... same thing & it was horrible. They put milk in the cup and pulled the shot directly into the plastic cup. Again, it tasted like coffee that was pulled way too fast. Never again will i get coffee here... especially for the price. read more

Locally owned, this spot is right off 99 and 16 so a quick run is ideal for anyone passing up Madera. I love the banana bread latte. I really wanted to love Emmie's Sidewalk Café because their coffee is genuinely good. But honestly, the customer service ruins the whole experience. The staff aren't welcoming or friendly at all -- it actually feels pretty hostile inside. You can tell they don't seem happy to be there or even like each other, and that tension makes it uncomfortable just being in the shop. It's a shame because good coffee alone won't keep customers coming back. A little more warmth and professionalism would make a huge difference. read more

This is the second time I've had a bad experience at Emmie's Sidewalk Café. Both times, the staff didn't greet me and came off as rude. On my most recent visit, I waited about five minutes before anyone even took my order. When I asked for a Matcha drink with the strawberry cold foam top(matcha berry on the menu), the worker repeatedly tried to discourage me from ordering it, saying it would take longer to make. I told her multiple times that I was fine with the wait, but she kept pushing back, almost as if she didn't want to make it at all. Although I agreed to wait for the drink, she made about 4 different drinks along with 4 different food items to customers who ordered after me. I waited 30 minutes for only ONE drink. At this point, it just feels like the staff doesn't care about customer service. It's disappointing because I wanted to enjoy this place, but I don't think I'll be coming back after this. read more

First time stopping by here. The staff were super helpful at picking something. Opted to get my mom the Sea Breeze Latte with half the portion of sugar. I hope I got the name correct, sorry if I didn't but I was told this drink was the most popular. My mom gave it a gold star which is a high honor and said it was good and actually tasted like coffee. Compared to Starbucks that it's usually a hit or miss. These days it's usually a miss. We will be back. read more
