The 5 Star food reviews by Yelp Elite Reviewers who rarely give 5 Star Reviews fascinate me. Like Frank W's 5 Star Review of "Empanadas the Place to Go" ("Empanadas TPTG") in Meriden. I don't know Frank W, but we live in the same area. When we review the same food business, his review scores are frequently lower than mine. Recently, I noticed his 5 Star review of Empanadas TPTG and saw they only had 2 reviews. Since Frank W seems to be a hard grader, I figured Empanadas TPTG might be a good bet despite the lack of reviews. It was. I'm a fan and I'll be back. Empanadas TPTG, not surprisingly, specializes in empanadas. Meat. Meat and cheese. Apple Pie. Guava and cheese. They also have stews and rice. And Fresh bread from Meriden's Alberto's Bakery. Service was enthusiastic and welcoming. Top tier. There is no seating. I ordered a few empanadas to go for later, but I had the Guava and Cheese right away. "Would you like powdered sugar?" Yes please. Great texture. Loved the sweet filling. The next day, I reheated a Beef and Cheese Empanada. 20 seconds in the microwave. 3 minutes in the air fryer at 360. It was really terrific. The melty cheese and beef filling was delicious. The texture of the shell held up well. Each of the sauces (Ketchup Mayo, Sweet Chili, and Hot) were good. I also tried the rice and peas and chicken stew the day after. I thought the stew could have used a bit more salt, but it was full of tasty dark meat chicken. The rice had good texture and flavor. While my order was being boxed, a nice man in an Empanadas TPTG tee asked "Do you like bread?" I do like bread. So I said "Yes". He then introduced the man next to him as Alberto from Alberto's Bakery. Small world! They encouraged me to take a loaf of Alberto's sourdough and help spread the word if I liked it. I've now enjoyed a few slices of Alberto's toast and think it's great. So be on the lookout for Alberto's branded breads. I hear he'll have a brick and mortar this year. You should definitely check out Empanadas The Place To Go. Nice work Frank W. 4.5 Stars

5 star food, 5 star prices, 5 star service, 5 star cleanliness! I had wanted to try these little pockets of goodness for awhile and we were not disappointed. We tried the guava/cheese - amazing, the cheese - good but oily, the chicken & cheese - delish, and the rice with corn perfection. You have to get two of the same flavor for the 2 for $6, plenty of parking in front, takeout only.

I live closeby and my friend had tried Empanadas before me. She liked it so I decided to see for myself. We have gotten takeout here several times because it's also conveniently located near us. The empanadas and other food options are good. You don't need to order too much because they fill you up quick. They're a bit heavy. They taste good though and we've enjoyed everything that we've tried.

Fast service. Food is really good. Got the pork, beef and cheese, guava and cheese and the rice and beans. Rice comes with a small pork or chicken stew. Also kids get free slushy! Todo muy rico

I had driven past this recently opened restaurant a few times and rarely saw any customers, but around noon on this past Sunday there were several people waiting to have their orders filled. I joined the line and after a bit of a wait ordered a pair of chicken empanadas. The cashier/owner is very welcoming and I was soon exiting with a box of hot empanadas that turned out to be both delicious and sizable. There is no seating available so be prepared to take your orders with you. Priced at $6 for 2 seems quite reasonable and there is a variety of flavors offered including apple to choose from. I will be back, likely sooner rather than later.

Coming all the way from Massachusetts for an empanada may sound crazy but not when it's this good! Most places you will find pre frozen empanadas or after you take your first bite it's majority air and empty with hardly any meat .... But NOT here!! These empanadas are packed!! This new family owned business sits on the corner with a beautiful sign and must try food. I tried the chicken, chicken and cheese, beef, beef with cheese, apple pie, chicken wings and a Shepard pie ball and I had ZERO complaints!! This is a hidden gem that will soon shine bright!!

A solid empanada, nothing more and nothing less…read more I went to the local breakfast spot around this area and saw a new place had popped up. So after doing some running around I decided to give this place a try. The owner/operator was manning the helm and was very informative. He answered all our questions while frying up orders on the fly. I tried the guava and cheese empanada and the caramel empanada. we took everything to go and brought them home for noms and pics. The empanadas are cooked well, stuffed to the gills, and flavorful. The fried oreos needed to be a bit crispier, but the flavor was there. Prices are pretty good, and the wait times were relatively quick. Overall, it's a good place to try if you're in the mood for an empanada. If you happen to be in the area and looking for a tasty bite, give these guys a try!

So far, we have tried the beef, chicken and cheese empanadas (both as snack and dinner), and they are just satisfying. Mike does not skimp on the filling for the empanadas. We've also tried the caramel empanadas (can be topped with powdered sugar, Nutella, or condensed milk) but we've had it plain. With Mike's suggestion, we added vanilla ice cream on top- and it did need it. The caramel is super sweet, so the vanilla ice cream cut the sweetness a lot. Mike is super friendly, and we wish him loads of success in his business!

We tried 6 empanadas between us and they were flavorful and fun. I was happily surprised that the three were enough for a meal-I was smiling as I finished them. The spicy chorizo had a noticeable slight pepper to it, the chicken mushroom was fun with bechamel and the beef with cheese and bacon reminded me of a great Philly cheesesteak. The spinach was surprising in its deep flavor and light flaky crust. Definitely worth trying! The kind woman who helped us was pleasant, knowledgeable, and promptly prepared everything. The ambiance is cute with the coffee cups having angel wings. If you are in the area, it's worth stopping by!

I called the restaurant immediately to explain what happened and try to find a solution. The person in charge was not interested in hearing any of it. He kept insisting I had canceled the order, blamed me repeatedly, and refused to move past that point no matter how clearly I explained the situation. He eventually got rude and hung up on me. Yes, he actually hung up. When a restaurant chooses to partner with DoorDash, they take on some responsibility for how delivery problems get handled, particularly on large orders. The right response is not to interrogate and blame the customer while a ready order sits on the counter. There was no attempt to help, no offer to make it right, just defensiveness from start to finish. We ended the night with nothing. A large group of people, no food, and an experience that left us worse off than if we had never ordered at all. If something goes wrong with your order, this is how Che Empanadas will treat you. We will not be ordering from them again, and I would strongly encourage others to think twice before doing so.

Every time I wanted to eat empanadas, I had to bake my own, and I usually prepare only one flavor because it is a lot of work... Back home, I was used to order empanadas of many different flavors and get them delivered whenever I had guests or I didn't want to cook. I was so happy when last year I found out about Jackie's Empanadas On the Go! I immediately placed an order and went to pick up my empanadas from their kitchen in Stamford (not a front store). I ordered frozen empanadas to stock up my freezer. They came with baking instructions and they came out perfect! I loved her empanadas but driving almost 1 hour from New Haven is not something I can do often. Last week, planning for Thanksgiving dinner, we decided to order empanadas again. I ordered online and I contacted Jackie to arrange pick up and luckily she was going to be in a holiday market in Westport that weekend, so she offered me to pick up there, saving me some driving time. We ordered Mushroom, Caprese, Ham & Cheese, Beef Malbec and Knife-Cut Steak. They were all a success! Our guests loved them! Also, when I went to pick up the empanadas, I bought a box of Alfajores de maicena (cornstarch cookie sandwich filled with dulce de leche) and a box of Medialunas (Argentinian croissants). They were absolutely delicious!!!! I wish I lived closer to order more often, but I will definitely order food from Jackie's again!
