They all come 2/$6 and AREN'T sold individually! Potato balls (pork, beef, chicken, buffalo chicken) They have side of rice and beans, rice and gandules, yellow rice, and Mac and cheese. Lots of Yelpers and CT foodies began to rave about Empanadas the place togo. I can absolutely see why. You can tell because when you get there, there's usually a line. The staff is pleasant and helpful in recommending only the best for us to choose from. My husband and I wish we got more chicken and cheese ones because we ended up going rock paper scissors on who gets the last one from our order. I'm always a fan of a ground beef and cheese empanada and they delivered there as well. Perfect combo for the guava and cheese dessert empanadas. We even tried the potato fillers, which the one for the day was shepherds pie. We devoured everything and still think about those bites. Came here for the first time to grab a quick bite to eat. I ordered the beef and cheese empanadas 2 for $6.00 , I also got rice and beans and apple empanada 2 for 6.00$ I didn't wait long for the food to be prepared. The rice and beans were delicious. The apple empanada were good too. I did enjoy the beef and cheese empanadas but I just wished they filled the empanada up with more meat. It took me three bites to finally get some meat. After driving by this establishment for a few weeks I finally caught them open. Stopped in and was greeted by a helpful gentleman. I ordered 3 different kinds of empanadas that he recommended and was pleasantly surprised that they all were tasty and not greasy at all. Tried some baked goods and they were equally delicious . I don't know Frank W, but we live in the same area. When we review the same food business, his review scores are frequently lower than mine. Recently, I noticed his 5 Star review of Empanadas TPTG and saw they only had 2 reviews. Since Frank W seems to be a hard grader, I figured Empanadas TPTG might be a good bet despite the lack of reviews. It was. I'm a fan and I'll be back. Empanadas TPTG, not surprisingly, specializes in empanadas. Meat. Meat and cheese. Apple Pie. Guava and cheese. They also have stews and rice. And Fresh bread from Meriden's Alberto's Bakery. Service was enthusiastic and welcoming. Top tier. There is no seating. I ordered a few empanadas to go for later, but I had the Guava and Cheese right away. "Would you like powdered sugar?" Yes please. Great texture. Loved the sweet filling. The next day, I reheated a Beef and Cheese Empanada. 20 seconds in the microwave. 3 minutes in the air fryer at 360. It was really terrific. The melty cheese and beef filling was delicious. The texture of the shell held up well. Each of the sauces (Ketchup Mayo, Sweet Chili, and Hot) were good. I also tried the rice and peas and chicken stew the day after. I thought the stew could have used a bit more salt, but it was full of tasty dark meat chicken. The rice had good texture and flavor. While my order was being boxed, a nice man in an Empanadas TPTG tee asked "Do you like bread?" I do like bread. So I said "Yes". He then introduced the man next to him as Alberto from Alberto's Bakery. Small world! They encouraged me to take a loaf of Alberto's sourdough and help spread the word if I liked it. I've now enjoyed a few slices of Alberto's toast and think it's great. So be on the lookout for Alberto's branded breads. I hear he'll have a brick and mortar this year. I had driven past this recently opened restaurant a few times and rarely saw any customers, but around noon on this past Sunday there were several people waiting to have their orders filled. I joined the line and after a bit of a wait ordered a pair of chicken empanadas. The cashier/owner is very welcoming and I was soon exiting with a box of hot empanadas that turned out to be both delicious and sizable. There is no seating available so be prepared to take your orders with you. Priced at $6 for 2 seems quite reasonable and there is a variety of flavors offered including apple to choose from. Checked out this place for the first time last weekend and it did not disappoint! Servings more than 7 kinds of empanadas, there is something for every person. They have potato fillers (it's like a rice ball but it's mashed potatoes and a protein inside, delish!), rice, beans, desserts, and more! When getting your empanadas, you can get 2 of the same kind for $6, you cannot mix and match. If they're out of the kind you want, they'll make it fresh for you right there! I ended up getting the chicken and cheese and pork empanadas along with the chicken potato filler. The chicken potato was so unique and something i've never had before, I enjoyed it throughly! The sauce it comes with is unbeatable too, I could eat a whole bowl of that! Place is terrible. I went when they first opened. Not very much meat in the empanada and kinda sweet tasting. Also u can't get just one empanada. U have to get two and they have to be the same kind. U can't get two different ones even though they are all the same price. Never will I return. FIRST IMPRESSION IS EVERYTHING. U lost what would have been a long returning customer.
