The food is ok but just average for the price. If I am going to spend $50 for a breakfast of 4 bagels and 2 sandwiches I would rather go to Einstein Bagel. It is good just thought it would be better for it to be a bagel spot. Maybe their lunch is a little better and could get to 4 stars but that would be reach goal. The staff were polite and nice. Please be advised. My pregnant wife and decided to try this place for our first time. We ordered a bagel with eggs and bacon. During our extended wait we hear the chef in back scream" Noooooo!" , which was a bit disturbing but we didn't think much of it. As we were eating my wife had to spit out her sandwich because it tasted sandy and like the bottom of the floor. I tried calling 4 times to no answer. This is absolutely disgusting, unethical, and completely unacceptable. If my wife becomes sick tmrw or day after , they will be hearing from a lawyer. Shame on them for serving food like this , if they did it to her imagine how many others they have been inconsiderate to. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Not only are the bagels not great, but the customer service is horrendous. They CONSTANTLY get orders wrong. Missing food? You get an "oops". Gross, inedible food? You get an "oh, we're busy/understaffed/etc." doesn't matter if you are in person, picking up, or ordering via an app. The quality is consistently poor-both the food and customer service. Also, the shop is disgustingly filthy. I used the restroom once, after already waiting for over 1/2 hour for my small order. I could see into the kitchen and it was so gross I threw the food away and will never be back. Not to mention the bathroom was worse than many tiny truck stops. I was so happy when I heard we were getting a bagel spot in North Port. Especially one as recommended as Empire Bagel. I had heard nothing but amazing things about their Punta Gorda location. I drove by last weekend and saw they weren't open yet. I was so excited to hear they were opening this past week. I already had plans to go today. I had heard that people were waiting in line all week long to get in. I left to arrive right at opening at 8 a.m. Once I arrived there at one minute to 8 a.m., they were already opened with a line inside to across the parking lot outside. I said to myself this has to be good bagels. It actually didn't take too long to make it inside to the counter and I was out by 8:20. For all those in line behind me, sorry I left just one plain bagel. I heard they were making more. I got home and the bagels were still warm. The inside soft, the shell crispy. Oh my gosh. This makes up for all the bad bagels I've had since moving to Florida. Prices are reasonable. The interior has small tables perfect for those weekend breakfast dates. I highly recommend waiting in line and trying this spot out. Especially if you are a Northern bagel snob like myself. Or try out their Punta Gorda location so they don't run out of bagels for us Northern North Port / Port Charlotte people. read more

I remember when the place first opened and it was packed with people with long lines. They were always out of things early, which I never understood-why not make sure you have full stock until you close- it's open so few hours ? Frozen bagels the next day are fine for leftovers and might make them extra money. Anyway, we stopped going there because they seemed a little bit overpriced compared to even New Jersey bagel shops which is what I'm used to. (yes current pricing).We loved the tuna but pretty much stopped going when every other time we would go in and wait in that long line we would be told they were out of tuna, 9 to 10 AM, out of tuna already? I stopped in there today-I hadn't been there in a quite a few months and I noticed there were no lines which I didn't know if that was a good or bad thing. It was mid morning and again the bagel bins were almost empty, I ordered a tuna bagel with lettuce and tomato. The price was two dollars more than the last time I was there, but so be it. The woman comes out after I ordered and paid to tell me they don't even have lettuce to put on the sandwich, really? And you couldn't have told me that before I ordered. Sounds like a small thing but when you're paying two dollars more than last time for what what you ordered, it's not good service. I took the bagel and left. When I got home, it was half the amount of tuna then they ever put on it before.. so now they don't have the flavor bagel I usually want mid morning, the cost has been raised again, and they give you half the product they once gave you. Oh, and also, the tuna was not the same tuna they used to serve... bottom line, I spent almost $13 for a bagel with a hunk of tomato slathered with a see-through layer of subpar tuna at best and two additional plain bagels with nothing on them. Stopped in and got an asiago bagel sandwich at Empire Bagel in North Port this morning... again, and then drove over to Blue Ridge Park to enjoy my bagel with nature. The young lady at the counter, Shiloh(sp) i believe she said, was wonderful and helped me decide on something different to get on my bagel. I went with the Gramercy and it was delicious! Friends from North Port got us a couple bagels from here last year, and we liked them-altho my pumpernickel tasted more like wheat (Which they may have gotten for me). We drove down from Venice, got a little lost-looking the wrong direction for the shop, but turned around and found it! Hubby likes French Toast bagels and I like Pumpernickel, so I got 6 total with 1/2 pound cream cheese. We both thought they were great, as compared to our Bagel World bagels, back in MA. Being from New York I know a good bagel from just a SO-SO bagel. The first time I ordered a pumpernickel bagel with cream cheese, Loc, onion and capers. I insisted that it was to be served open face and not cut in half, I got it like a sandwich not open faced and cut in half. I didn't say anything because I drove home where I learned they had just opened so a waiter 3 months and went back. Once again I ordered the same bagel. This time the bagel was brought out opened face and put in a bag on top of each other, so I basically a bagel with juicing on top and another on top and bottom kind of messy as was the bag served in. Ok I may be a believer that a third time all would be great. I told the order taker how I wanted it d as nd tho no surprise it was the same, so 3 strikes u t OUT. I let the person that took my order how disappointed I was and was leaving never to return and there were other bagel places that would satisfy me. I did not have a chance to leave when the owner came out to talk to me, but the way this was over year ago. He was very nice and understood my frustration and assured me he would get it corrected, He wanted to have me back in to have a bagel the correct way in the future. Sorry but this bagel shop doesn't work for me. Their bagels are smaller then other shops I've bought at up in the northeast. They are not as chewy and are over baked. I do like the fact that they sell a bakers dozen but that just means you get more of a sub-par product. I must say that a major coffee shop sells a better bagel . Maybe having more bagel shops in the area would help them step up their game. Yes there is a line when the shop opens in the morning but that's it. My shops I go to up north have lines of 10 to 15 all morning long. Just sayin! read more

Our first time here won't be our last. This little place is surprisingly popular even though only 1 review. People eat in or take out but that door is always opening. Friendly staff and the area is clean. We both had egg sandwiches. My husband was able to find Taylor ham so he was happy. I would have taken a picture but they were so good. It's was average at best! I ordered 2 breakfast bagel sandwiches! The bagels weren't toasted, but just warmed up (maybe in a microwave). They were not buttered, just plain (no flavor). The sausage was tasteless, no sausage taste....just some average breakfast meat. The eggs were not seasoned (no flavor). The eggs were very dippy, so very messy and that could have been manageable if the sandwich was either cut in half, all the way through or not cut at all. But they decided to only cut it calf way so the dippy eggs made a huge mess. Honestly, if i were the owners i would pray that there isnt any other bagel shops in the area.
