It is so hard to find a barber that you know you can go to over and over. My boyfriend and I came here years ago and didn't really fall in love with it. I mean, the barber at the time did his job, but nothing that made us want to go back. Here we are years later. He was in the area, so he gave this place another try. He walked in with no appointment and I believe he said he waited maybe 15 minutes and Alex was able to help him out. It wasn't until the follow up haircut that we found his barber. Alex has been such a great barber and she always tries her best to make sure he cut is exactly what he ask for. She even suggest that it might not look exactly like the photos because they hair thickness and style of the person in the photo is not the same. No matter what my boyfriend ask for, Alex always tries her best to make it happen. I also love that, if I don't go with him to his appointments, Alex always ask where I am. If you have Asian hair, I'd recommend looking elsewhere for a haircut. I've been coming to Empire on and off since 2018, and while the service is generally good and the staff is friendly, my recent experiences have been disappointing. I went in for a taper on the sides and neck and asked for half an inch off the top, even showing a reference picture for what I wanted. Unfortunately, the result wasn't what I had hoped for, and I've been consistently unhappy with how my haircuts have turned out here. One thing to note is that the barbers tend to chat amongst themselves a lot, even while cutting hair, which can be a bit annoying (literally witnessed a client getting a cut but the barber is neglecting the dude and talking with the other barbers lol). Overall, while this place might work for others, it doesn't seem to be the right fit for me. read more

My son just started school and was on the hunt for a barber. I recalled Empire in Sunvalley and I looked them up on IG and loved how they're open Monday-Sunday! As a working mom of two, this is GREAT! You can easily pick a barber and book online through their website or IG. I came in on Labor Day to get my son a hair cut for his second week of school. Yes, they were even open on a holiday! I booked with Julius and he was amazing! He chit chatted with my talkative son and recommended my son have a comb-over. About two weeks ago, I called around in Vacaville and Suisun City to get some barbershop pricing. Only a few were $35, some were $45, and a lot were $50 for a haircut. This isn't Sport Clips. I knew some barber out there from out-of-state, who used to give me a buzz in my garage no extra charge. Six years ago, a haircut at a barbershop in the neighborhood would be $20-25. 28 years ago, if a barbershop in the hood was charging me $35 for a haircut that would be outrageous and I wouldn't believe it. I don't know how barbershop's out there that aren't from Carmel, Santa Clara, San Francisco, Napa, Beverly Hills, Las Vegas, or Scottsdale be charging high prices for a haircut. It sounded like they were price fixing. You pay for what you get, but if they're charging $50 or more, I'm naturally going to be expecting a $50 or more haircut. Yesterday, I booked an Empire standard haircut for 7:15 PM. A lot of barbershops don't work with my schedule, they're mostly closed at 5 PM. I like how Squire Technologies made booking with them easy. I like how they gave me an option to pay online or in person. Unless I have to, most of the time I go with in person and cash. This barbershop is in a shopping center. I arrived kind of early, about an hour and had some time to kill. I like the design here, very classy and slightly modern in black and white. I got exactly what I needed. Everything was excellent. I give this 5.0 stars out of 5.0 stars. read more

Tried to book an appointment 4 days in advance, Dario Jones answered the phone and it went something like this: Hi, I was wondering if I could book over the phone I'm having issues booking it on the app and on browser. Dario: Yeah man I can't do that for you, people usually don't show up. Who were you looking to book with though? 1) If your system and UI/UX is shitt but you don't take walk ins what other booking alternative are you offering then? 2) The Hercules location is competent and able to book over the phone? The lack of professionalism at this shop is insane given how they're trying to market it to their respective clientele. This is my two cents and could've been that Dario is overworked who knows but when I am paying 70 dollars for a haircut I expect customer service higher than Jack in The Box at 2am. read more

We showed Julius the picture of what we were looking for and he didn't flinch or raise his eyebrows in confusion. My son came in as a walk- in late on a Monday, and of course there was a line (that was well worth the wait). These guys have been rated "best of the east bay 2018" and it shows in their work and customer service. Book in advance and skip the line. My son left feeling fresh and happy. Stephen cut my son's hair just the way he wanted it. Stephen even gave him a fresh shave. Happy place. Super professional. Oh, and the music playlist was quite enjoyable. Everyone is in uniform which shows professionalism. They're always making sure the floor stays cleaned after every cut. So I'm a pretty shy person and sometimes it's hard for me to have a conversation, but literally everyone there is so friendly and it really makes you feel welcome on every visit. I'm surprised I didn't write a review for Empire Barbershop as I've been coming here for years! What can I say? This place is my go to barbershop since September 2013. My go to barbers are Justin and Rick, and they've been cutting my hair for the past 5 years. I have never been disappointed. Real cool dudes with outgoing personalities. Very professional, friendly, and quite frankly they are like family. The ambiance is super chill and relaxing. They got good music playing throughout the shop, have tvs with sport center or some sports game on, and it's very family friendly. I see lots of families go in and out. Keep in mind, these barbers have strong reputations so you have to book an appointment or else you will be waiting for a very long time as a walk-in. (Btw, Sundays are their walk-in days). Since they are located in the mall, you can walk in, cruise around (or eat in a restaurant) and they will contact you when they are ready for you. Walk-ins wait time is about 2 hours. I love how you can book online ahead of time. The process is very seamless and quick and most importantly, easy. Some say it's pricey, but it's worth every penny. Gotta pay to play. All barbers are professionally trained from barber colleges - a big plus in my book. Even if I didn't live around the area, I'd still make the trip to Empire. read more

My 6 year old started kindergarten this year and has been saying "I'm a grown man" ever since. Usually I take him to a kid salon close to his school for his regular haircuts. I dropped the ball and forgot about picture day so Sunday I'm scrambling trying to get him a haircut (with a design at his request) so i called Empire on a long shot since their website said they were fully booked. The guy that answered referred me to the website and I told him I did and that I was wondering about last minute cancellations, he put me on hold and came back and said he had a 6:15 opening. When we got there all the barbers were very nice, they all had clients in their chairs. I had my son tell his barber what design he wanted, sit in the chair and be a "grown man". It was the cutest thing to see him along side with everyone else getting haircuts watching the niners on TV as if he knew what was going on. Overall the experience was great. My boyfriend gets his hair cut here often because of their hours, it's convenient for us. So far all of them are good. It's located inside the mall, park by Macy's and take the escalator downstairs, once you exit to the mall, you should notice it on the right. Always a long wait when we go in the weekends, about 1 to 2 hours, sometimes even 3. So we would go in and my bf would put his name on the list and we would go eat, they will text you and call you when it's your turn but also you can check where you are on their list because once they add you into their system, they send you a link by text and you'll see how many people are in front of you and how many minutes they have been waiting. Also, at first I asked him if he has suggestions for a good haircut and he just said, "I don't know, it's really up to what you want" then there was a silence for like a minute because he doesn't want to suggest anything.
