I had a really concerning experience here and feel like others should be aware. I stopped by this location briefly (less than 10 minutes), and during that time someone attempted to break into my car. When I came back, the driver-side keyhole had been damaged to the point where I couldn't even use it. While I was inside the neighboring barber shop, there was an older man who kept staring at me in a way that made me uncomfortable. After I discovered the damage and went back inside to ask about security footage, that same man suddenly ran out of the shop as I was explaining what happened. (MEXICAN) I was able to get a video and photo of him and his white truck (including the license plate), and I filed a police report. What also felt off was that when I asked to see footage from when I first arrived, I was only shown footage of him leaving--not the time frame I specifically asked for. They're in cahoots. I'm not making accusations, but the situation felt very suspicious. Just be cautious if you're in this area and keep an eye on your vehicle. read more

My husband and I came in for his first haircut and beard trim from Patrick. We booked online and it was super easy and convenient. We arrived on time and Patrick was ready for him. The shop is a traditional barbershop with a classic, masculine atmosphere. It's located right across The Sugar Plum. He took his time with cutting his hair asking questions. I love this place. I've been going here for a while and I'm so comfortable coming here now. I decided after about 25 years of having the same haircut, it was time for a change...I wanted something different since I've gone through some life changes recently. Mainly have lost weight but wanted to just change my style up a bit. I liked how fades are more of a thing these days but I was admittedly to scared to do a normal fade. Luckily I have an awesome barber. Ruben De Avila is simply amazing. When I confronted him about wanting to change my "usual" cut he was extremely patient and open to the change. I honestly didn't know how I exactly wanted but by the time I talked with him and showed him pictures of what I was looking for, it was a done deal. It was like he already knew in his head what I envisioned. When the haircut was done, I was pretty stoked to say the least. It was kind of both new and old. My hair was still short but I just had a minimal fade on my sides and it came out way better than I could of ever asked for. So mainly just wanted to give a big shout out to Ruben and all the barbers here. It's always cool coming in to get a haircut after work and I see customers of all ages. In one chair I'll see a kid who looks like he is elementary getting a haircut with his mom waiting on him. Meanwhile a few chairs down I see the retired OG talking to another barber about whether or not Kevin Durant is gonna stay with the Dubs or not. Anytime I come in, it's always a relaxing environment. As much as I may not seem like it with my reviews, I actually can be pretty shy but if anything I always do feel right at home when I get my hair cut here. I needed a quick trim as my regular barber was on an extended Christmas break. I've got Asian hair, so pretty straight and straight forward to cut. Found this place on Yelp, which looked to have good reviews. Walked in and its a smallish joint with 3-4 gents cutting hair. Place was full of customers and I was greeted nicely. Not some fake greeting you get somewhere else. Got called up to the stand and I explained what I wanted. The guy who cut my hair was really cool and enjoyed his and everyone else's conversations. This place is basically a man cave, with sports on TV and typical guy banter - which was pretty awesome. Really, the only thing missing was a beer tap or a whiskey bar (hint hint). After a while, my fade was done and turned out pretty nicely. I was happy with the results, but was a little surprised at the cost. It was a bit higher than I expected, but hey, for the entire experience, I think it was worth it. Not sure if I could do it every few weeks, but in a pinch, I'd definitely come back here. Out running some errands while in desperate need of a haircut on a Friday after 2pm, I decided to roll the dice and reached out VIP Barber shop. They took me as a walk in without hesitation and within seconds, I was in the seat ready for kind gentleman named Patrick to do his craft. I'm not sure how long he's been at this place (I assume a while due to his relationship with other barbers), but that doesn't matter too much because he asks all the right questions to ensure you get the cut you need and deserve and this shop happens to be the place where he works his magic. He was absolutely meticulous with every movement of the clippers, and finished the cut with some alcohol (my favorite part) and some beard oil. I like going to a shop and getting a good cut, I LOVE going to a shop, getting a good cut and having a great conversation with the person doing the job. It's very important that the process is an experience just as much as it's a job and Patrick delivered on both ends. I appreciate him, his time, and the whole atmosphere of this place. Amazing barbershop with a great group of guys. Been taking my two boys, now ages 7 and 4 for over a year to Bubba and he always does an excellent job. The kids get excited when they know an appointment is coming up and feel comfortable enough to express their wants when they sit in the chair. They both got summer cuts today and the fades Bubba did were excellent. He really takes the time to even everything out and is super patient with them. My son is home on leave from the USMC, and made a same day appointment to get his hair cut before heading back tomorrow. I went with him, so I could take my dog for a walk downtown Concord, while my son got his haircut. Patrick was his Barber, and he and my son immediately hit it off, talking about the military, life, faith (which they both share the same) and just had a great conversation in the 30 minutes he was there! I won't be booking at this barbershop again. The first time I took my son, I booked with Troy. He was scared to tapered my sons hair because it was long and urge me to just doing a lining. He did good lining him up but I just felt like I didn't get what I wanted out that appointment even if it was my sons first time getting a haircut. This time I booked with Andrea. I booked it for 22nd on the 10th of this month. Well I get a text from her at 6am asking me what I wanted because she is limited in braiding. I sent her a photo on how I wants his hair and how long my son hair was. I waited hours for a response from and didn't get one. I ended canceling my appointment because I felt she probably just didn't know how to tell me she couldn't do it. My problem is she could of contacted me a week or so ago so I would be able to find somewhere else but everything is booked up cause it's Christmas week. Ruben and his crew are what you're looking for in a barbershop experience. Clean, professional and always on time. This won't be the cheapest haircut in town so if that's what you're looking for you should look elsewhere. However, you definitely get what you pay for! I brought my 16 year old son here for a haircut after combing through reviews on barber shops. I'm so glad I found this place and we both agreed he's going to become a regular here! He had his haircut by Anthony who was super nice and I could tell he was an experienced barber. My son showed him a picture of what he wanted and he came out super happy with his cut. There were two other people getting haircuts at the same time and the other barbers were very detailed, meticulous and I could tell they really take the time to make sure customers are happy with what they get. I was a Marine for 10 years, but like a low low reg/fade that didn't wear skivvy shirts, sooo I have had about 475 fade haircuts from some solid barbers and some not so solid barbers! From Oceanside to Japan to Guam and Norfolk and about everywhere between! This place is dope, I dig the layout. I normally don't leave reviews but had to give this barbershop 5 stars. I just recently moved to Concord and was looking for a new barber so I found this gem and decided to check this place out. Absolutely great atmosphere from the moment I walked in. The staff is super friendly and very personable. I get my haircut from Tony regularly now and he's a great barber. I'm super picky about my fades and he does an outstanding job! I've noticed many of the barbers there providing their cards to customers so if they ever need a haircut in a pinch or after hours that they can call them and set something up. The establishment is very clean and relaxed and everyone from the owner to all of the barbers are friendly, welcoming, and unpretentious. They take walk-ins (not guaranteed in many barbershops) or you can book an appointment online. They also accept cash or credit card, so they make things very convenient. BEST BARBER EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD! I've never been to this barbershop before, the barbershops in my county aren't open due to COVID-19 so I took my chances at this one because I'm tired of three months not getting a haircut. I'm always nervous when I go to a new barber because I have curly/wavy hair that most barbers don't know how to deal with. It also didn't help that I didn't exactly know what I wanted coming in. I signed up for a haircut with Patrick. He was very welcoming and very accommodating, he didn't waste time and immediately got to asking what style I wanted. He kept asking more questions to get a better idea of the image I had in my head, he even asked for picture examples. When he got to cutting, he was very gentle, took his time but stayed efficient with his work. He did a perfect skin fade in less than 10 minutes! He asked questions throughout the process to make sure that the haircut I was getting was in line with my vision. He also is a great conversationalist and has a warm presence. When he finished the haircut, I was more than satisfied with the result. It looked better than what I pictured in my head! I don't say this lightly but this was the best haircut and best barber experience I've ever had. 11/10 would recommend. My only wish is that I didn't live an hour away, I might just make the drive up just to get another haircut from him. read more

We've been to plenty of barber shops where there are a bunch of young guys kickin' it & the music is blasting. They hardly look at you when you enter & act like it's a drag to do another cut. It was far from that at this shop. You can tell these guys know their stuff & are professional. Aside from that, if you don't have an appt elsewhere, you might be sitting for awhile. I'd been cutting my own hair for 18 years after a few horrible experiences at a Supercuts when I was young. My girl wanted me to keep my hair longer so she could put her fingers through it but all I could do on my own was result to the lengths the clippers would give me... which were fairly short. I asked on Facebook where I should go to get my hair cut... several people said VIP Barbershop and specifically Frank. I'm a fairly socially anxious individual and therefore avoid most public things across the board. But again, a few friends told me to come here and I wanted to make my woman happy... so I tried it out. I couldn't be happier with the results! Frank made me feel super comfortable like we were homies, and he was super perceptive to what I wanted. It was my first time in a Barbershop so I didn't really know what to ask for... but frank figured out my stumbling responses and gave me a great cut that made me feel great. I have been getting cut here on and off for over 10 years! I have came across many Barbershops around the Bay Area over the years and hands down VIP barbershop delivers the best customer experience. The owner Ruben and his staff know how to treat people and pride themselves on being friendly and welcoming. I discovered this place thru a friend because I was sick of going to whack places such as Supercuts, where people have no idea what they are doing. More often than not, I walked out pissed off at how my hair ended up. At VIP Barbershop, I never once had this problem. Satisfaction guaranteed everytime. Haircuts cost $20 (no need for tips here because the whole $20 goes straight to the barber who cuts your hair)--pricey, but what you would expect at most barbershops. Unlike salons, VIP Barbershop offers a variety of different styles for that urban cut...let me just name off a few--uptown fades, bald fades, tapers, caesars, taper fades, designs, conservative styles, etc. Without a doubt, the best option in town for men, unless you know a personal barber. read more

I was in the area and needed a fresh lineup as a last minute dinner invitation was sprouted on me. I looked up barbershops and decided to take my chance here. I am sure glad I did! I got my cut done by Matt De Ubago. This guy knows his clippers and knows his way around oddly shaped heads (like mines). I asked for a high, bald fade with a #2 on top. I asked that he blend in my sideburns as well. After 30 minutes, I was feeling like a new man! His attention to detail was on point. He even asked if I wanted something to drink, which I thought was a nice gesture. To my surprise, he cuts hair at another location as well in Oakland.
