This place out-competes all the other one star reviews I've given and takes the cake for the absolute WORST experience. I would give it negative stars if I can. Here's what happened: I had been looking for a barber shop for my little boy. I searched on Yelp and saw that Goodfellas takes walk-ins so I decided to give it a try. I tried calling the shop with the number provide on Yelp several times to ask the price but no one answered. When I got there, it didn't look open so I called the number posted on the front window. Turned out the barber, a Latino man in his 50's, was outside chatting with someone in another car. He said he takes walk-ins and proceeded to open the shop for the day. We went in and my son got seated. I asked if he does any designs and he answered no. I then remembered to ask him for the price since I didn't see it on Yelp or the shopfront, and there is no website to refer to. (Up to this point, no more than 5 minutes has elapsed. Not only had he not begun cutting my son's hair, he hadn't even put the barber cape on or taken out his tools) He told me the price for a boy's haircut is $40. I said that was too expensive for me This is when everything turned sour. He suddenly got really upset with me and said I made him open the shop for nothing--his so called opening up was pulling back the curtains and turning on the lights. I told him I wasn't aware of the price. He said he works graveyard shifts and I wasted his time. I don't know what his working graveyard shifts has to do with me. If he can't be bothered to be professional and decent after a night shift, then for everyone's sake, he shouldn't open at all. As soon as my son walked out and I crossed over the threshold, he slammed the door loudly behind us and repeated that I wasted his time. Needless to say, my little one was startled. The man-child then opened the door, again, and came out saying that I should take money with me the next time I go anywhere. (??? Such a stupid attempt at a dig) I told him that he was being incredibly rude and that if he didn't want people wasting his time, he should POST THE PRICE SOMEWHERE so potential clients are aware. He said for me to afford what I can (I didn't really understand this comment. Maybe he was trying to call me cheap? I don't know. Anyway, another dumb attempt at a dig) so I straight up said I can't afford a $40 boy's cut. He then got in his car and sped away down Rosalyn Dr. I felt so bad. Not at all for the prick, but for the fact that my son had to witness his rotten behavior. So I definitely would not recommend Goodfellas. I don't know if there are other barbers there, but if this oaf is the only one, stay away. read more

Jake is a standup guy, an experienced steady hand when it comes to cutting hair. I was out with my family in concord today and we decided to walk over to see about a haircut. He took great care of my hair, but if you're a fan of the old school barbershop vibe, you know that the haircut isn't the only thing you go for. You go for a pilgrimage of sanity, to chat with your barber who gets to know you over many conversations over the years, and you get to see a familiar face, and look forward that fresh shave and trim. Today was my first time working with Jake, but it felt as if he has always been there just waiting for me to stop on by again. Rather than knowing if they have "gender neutral restrooms," I'd much rather know their PRICES. For a normal 20 minute haircut some barbers charge $25. That's $75 per hour! (Do the math.) You can rent a chair in a barber shop for $400/month, that's only $13/day. That makes the $75/hr into $73/hr. There's no other overhead. I and most people in Concord make about $25/hr. $73/hr is just too greedy. Why doesn't Yelp list prices or price ranges for barbers? read more

First time at this barber shop and it was a good experience. There wasn't much of a wait on a late Saturday morning. There were 3 people working and they all seemed to vibe well. One tv playing a movie at first then switched to football. I only got a beard trim but the guy who did it took his time and at the end made sure I liked it before leaving. I didn't get his name but he might have been the owner. Great service throughout. I'll be back next time for a haircut as well. Sooo I pulled up to the front of Goodfellas Barber Shop in my Soccer Mom minivan and walked in with my 3 kids. The shop is teeny tiny with only 3 stations and no real waiting area, just a handful of chairs 2 feet away from the stations! This is probably a great setup for the men to talk sports, complain about their women, and whatever else men do but for me....it was REALLY AWKWARD especially because the men getting their hair cut were hot! But within seconds of sitting down, the barbers and the hot male customers started friendly conversations with my kids! When these hotties walked out with the cleanest haircuts I've ever seen, I knew we went to the right place. Walt called my son to his station, combed out his hair took the time to tell my son how he should comb his hair, and listened to how we wanted it cut. We found the Goodfellas Barber Shop off of yelp. They're rated 5 stars, which they have definitely earned every single star. The place was a little tricky to find at first. It's a small shop behind the liquor store. Parking was easy. The atmosphere was very relaxing and super chill. Lots of laughs and jokes. They are very hospitable as well. My boys and I were waiting outside in our truck and they walked out to us and offered us water. My boys loved getting their hair cuts as well which turned out nothing short of AMAZING. The guy who cut my hair is Sonny. He did a good job. He listens to what you want to do with your hair. During my fade he went through many clip changes so like an artist who uses many different tools for different reasons I feel he knows what he is doing. I went in for a zero side faded buzz cut and it costs $25 plus tip. The environment is very male-friendly, as in posters of women or boxers on the wall, and the general decor of the place was very man-cave like. Lots of construction union workers were coming in and out to chit chat with Jack, and it seems lots of customers want Jack to cut their hair. The A/C is not too powerful but it gets the job done, I was not uncomfortable even tho it was a hot day. They have a bathroom for customer use, and a tv which had sports playing. Since looking for a "new" barber reserves skepticism for anyone who gets fades regularly, my mans Walter hooked me with a solid cut. I used to frequent People's Barber Shop in Oakland, but cuts get a lil pricey from them ranging from $40-$50. Good Fellas hit me with a fade + short combover on the top for $21. Unheard of nowadays, especially from a place that knows how to cut hair. Comfy vibe, hole in the wall type spot, a true barber shop in essence. The "Hot Boyz" Pandora station was a good look too hahaa Definitely worth my time and money. After a quick search on Yelp for local barbers, I found my way to Goodfellas yesterday afternoon. Just as the name suggests, I walked into a small hole-in-the-wall, 4 barber chairs, and 3 great guys working on clients. You add your name to a list, can get a refreshment from the customer fridge, grab a chair, and take in the "old skool" vibe. The shop was packed, so I did have to wait an hour for my turn. During the wait, I was amazed at the innovative, trendy, precision cuts the other customers were getting done. The owner himself (Jake) gave me a "gentleman's haircut," and I couldn't be happier. (I think the modern term is a fade with a short combover) Although I could get in and out at my previous spot in 20min, it didn't matter if the cut was bad (hence why I was looking for a new place) As others have said, it's worth your time and money to get a good cut, so I'll be coming back to Goodfellas. read more

They refuse to add your name to the waiting list on the phone. I call and get told it's a minimum 90 minute wait. I asked if they would add my name to the list and I would be there in 90 minutes. They refused. They said I was required to travel to the shop and put my own name on the list and wait. I asked what I was supposed to do for 90 minutes. They said "I don't know. I guess you could run some errands". I said, "I don't have any errands in the area," They said "Sorry". So, apparently it's too much trouble for them to add my name to the queue so that I may arrive when it is convenient for all parties. Somehow, someway, requiring me to drive to their front door and sit around and wait for 90+ minutes is what I am supposed to do. Man I was treated better at this barbershop than I am on my own birthdays at home! I think this place is like a three brothers shop or something because they were all on the same page when it came to hospitality! Waked in and Kevin said hello, shook my hand, introduced himself, and offered my wife and I refreshments. He was giving someone else a haircut and their conversation gave the place a down to earth feel. Later Jacob came in and did the same as Kevin, shook my hand, introduced himself etc. He kind of looked like an OG so I'd be respectful if you decide to come here or you're likely to get dropped real quick! No, but seriously tho everybody was super chill and friendly, they had a bunch of cool sports paraphernalia decorating the shop, boxing gloves, jerseys, etc. Jacob did a great job with my haircut, I asked for a medium Reg aka a crew cut and I have to say it was one of the best haircuts I've ever received. I know a med Reg is nothing fancy but you'd be surprised how many barbers can't do the basics. Throughout the haircut everybody was pretty talkative, it gave the place a real chill atmosphere. Kind of reminded me like the barbershop from "Coming to America" where everyone is smoking and joking just having a good time! (No one was literally smoking). They even invited me to their anniversary BBQ, which is happening sometime in May!! When everything was said and done they shook my hand again and welcomed to the shop. Noticed this new barbershop when I was across the street one day having my car stereo worked on, my hair was beginning to get a little scraggly so I thought what the heck I'll give them a shot. Walked in to a great atmosphere, old sports memorabilia hanging on the wall, good music playing, everything was clean but most of all both barbers were very friendly and immediately greated me, introduced themselves and told me that they would get me in next. I ended up in Kevin's chair (the younger of the two) he was very friendly and treated me as if I had been coming there for years. He created small talk and tried his best to make me feel comfortable as did the other barber (Jake) who I later found out was his brother and the owner of the shop. It was nice not having an awkward haircut filled with nothing but silence. I told Kevin what I usually get (bald taper with a 4) and he went to work, ended up being by far one of the best haircuts I've ever had! There's 3 chairs in the shop where you'll have either Jake, Kev, or Adrian cutting you- all smart & patient barbers who genuinely care about their craft. Rarely does it occur that I try, and am impressed by every barber in a barbershop (typically different barbers have certain areas they're strong at) but after finding them on Yelp and coming here for about my 8th time, I've come to realize how consistently on point all three of them are. As with any top notch barber shop, weekends are a bit busy, so it's best to call in advance or schedule an appointment for Sunday (appt. only day). It's worth the wait though, and they're not the type to waste your time with pause-and-go cutting/unnecessary chatter. If you're looking for a fresh cut and a clean fade for $15, give these guys a try. You just might find the legit barber shop you're looking for. read more

I recently moved to Concord, CA and my barber who I've been going to in SF for the past 10 years was just to far to go to. I was recommended GoodFellas by a coworker so I thought I'd give them a shot. Jacob the owner was the first person I meet there and he made me feel welcomed and at home.
