The minute I walked in here I Knew it was t going to be much to write about. Now, this place was busy, it seems popular amongst people who live in Goldsboro or nearby. The service was basic at best. She rushed us to our seats and was talking a mile a minute before we could even sit down. This was our first time here but we quickly figured out how to order. The veggie selection was semi decent but I had general concern about the way the raw meats were showcased. Not sure if huge ice chunks sitting on top is the proper way to store raw meat. Needless to say I was thoroughly unimpressed. The line to wait for your cooked hibachi is disorganized and they have no system of keeping track of whose bowl is whose. Great lunch deal for a big appetite! We came with a group of 5, ate until we were gonna pop and left with the total bill being about $10pp (not including the tip.) If you are not familiar with the concept of a Mongolian grill, you essentially walk over to a cold bar and load up a plate or 2 with fresh veggies, meats and noodles and then hand it off to one of the grill chefs to add sauces and stir fry the food for you until it is all perfectly cooked. Think Chipotle but for lomein! Lol Everything on the bar was very fresh and there were plentiful options of protein and veggies. My only wish is that they had other noodle options for example udon or rice noodle as well as other stir fry sauce options like peanut sauce or sesame oil. Also wish there were eggs that they could crack over the noodles. Outside of the grill alone, they do also have a hot buffet with appetizer options and kid options (corn dogs, pizza, fries, etc.) There is also a salad bar, soup station, dessert bar and ice cream station. In a nutshell, you get ALOT of bang for your buck. I didn't expect to go into a Chinese restaurant, buffet style, where the food is made to order [as I did zero research before coming here] This location allows you to choose your starch, vegetables, and raw meats (thin strips of chicken, beef, pork, scallops, shrimp) into a bowl with your preference in sauces prior to loading it up on a round grill where they use huge chopsticks to mix it all up and cooked to palatable. Love this place. We use to have a Mongolian restaurant in Greenville. But it closed down. We will literally drive from Greenville to Goldsboro just to eat here! They are usually pretty quick and occasionally are really busy but that didn't stop us. They have lots of choices of veg, and meets. My server was very friendly and helpful for the lunch buffet. Facility-wise--it's smaller than most Eastern NC Chinese buffets. One surprise was seeing a classic round hibachi grill that's used throughout the Pacific rather than a flattop grill. The choices for the hibachi grill were much limited than what I see in Greenville for instance. The basic buffet was limited and disappointing other than the fried chicken wings--great. I had to ask for spicy yellow mustard -- it's very hot and great. In fact, it was way hotter than my "spicy" stir fry. The price was slightly higher than for other buffets offering more choices. Empire fire has been one of my favorites since childhood! It's been over 10 years and it's still just as good as the first time I have had it. You can't beat the price and quality of food. It's not premium cuts of meat but you get what you pay for and it still taste great. Service was great as always. Server made frequent stops to refill our drinks and keep our table clean. We went here for dinner while visiting family. For the first time it was alright. They seated us right away and took our drink order along with what type of rice we'd like and if we wanted sesame bread. They didn't ask if it was our first time or not so my husband asked how it worked. Found out it's buffet style, go pick up a bowl put what you'd like in it and tell them if you want it spicy or not. They ended up mixing mine up with another persons. After trying the food it was good but I decided to put white sauce on it. My husband really enjoyed the food. Really good actually! So much to choose from... There is an abundance of typical Mongolian food choices, plus pizza, deserts, a salad bar, pasta... An odd, or maybe I should just say unexpected, array of foods, but one I think most customers really appreciate for the sake of both variety and value. Best of all, it's included in the very reasonable price - very reasonable. Different prices for lunch and dinner. I believe lunch was around $8 - but don't quote me on that. For those of you who haven't yet had the pleasure of trying out a Mongolian grill (for us, they're a rare find), it's like a salad bar with raw veggies of all kinds, fruits (try adding pineapple!), pasta/noodles/carbs (precooked), and then a ton of raw-frozen proteins to choose from (chicken, beef, pork, scallops, shrimp, etc.), and lastly a sauce station. You start with a seemingly too small bowl (just pile it high!) and get your carbs, veggies and then proteins. You take your bowl full of these ingredients to the sauce station where a kind gentleman will pour an abundance of sauce on your dish... This is where I caution you. You MUST be both polite and respectful as you speak up about what you do and don't want. If you don't want super high sodium, extra greasy/fattening, spicy and overwhelming food flowing with sauces, you have to tell them. I suggest asking, "can I please only have a little bit of sugar water, tiny bit of spice, wine and no oil?" Try your own combinations, but I like low fat, low sodium (I turn into a PUFFER FISH when I eat too much salt ). The amount of sodium you could end up consuming is scary if you're not careful. Then you step aside and wait a few minutes while other cook your food I what looks like a HUGE hot round stone where men with long wooden sticks stir and rotate your food until it's cooked.There's also a tip jar while you wait for your plate to tip the workers for good service. Then they plate it and give it to you to enjoy. It's a unique experience. It's all you can eat, so don't be afraid to go back a few times to try different things, or to redo your plate if you didn't catch them before they over-sauced it... It happens. Eat up, enjoy and fill up. Finish with a Chinese donut (or I guess here it's Mongolian donuts), a piece of pie, fruit and/or ice cream. You pay on your way out, but don't forget to tip the kind ladies that filled your drinks and cleared your plates. I recommend it! Fast, easy, fun, filling and affordable! read more

I love Mongolian style food - some pasta with all of the meat and vegetables you want. This place is great because the chefs will actually do the sauce mixture for you, you just have to tell them how spicy you want it. There is also hand sanitizer - thumbs up. There is also a buffet, if you want anything else. Service is fast and reliable. The decor is nothing exciting - booths and tables. Stopped here twice on my way to and from the beach. Superb!! I found it on yelp and considered it but only ended up here after I took a wrong exit. I was pleasantly surprised. They have an entire mongolian buffet, an entire dessert buffet, and an entire salad buffet. It's amazing!! The food is cooked right in front of you and the ingredients appeared fresh. Everybody was nice. We spent like $13 for both of us for lunch and just a few dollars more when our second visit was later in the afternoon (I guess they start dinner early?).
