Horrible experience. My sister and I booked a move from Brooklyn NY to Clarksville TN. Peter guaranteed us that If shipment was picked up on 6/23 it would arrive by July 1st which is what we wanted since she wasn't picking up her keys until the 1st. The delivery driver calls us on 6/28 saying that he'll be there tomorrow for delivery on 6/29. Where exactly are you supposed to be putting these items when we specifically said July 1st. We spoke to Peter multiple times on a 3 way call and he swore up and down he told us 2-10 days. No you didn't!! You said 10-12 days. When we called to complain we were yelled at and told that he doesn't deal with shipping just sales. We attempted to speak to a manager but according to Nina ALL 5 managers were out of the office. We left a voicemail for one on 6/28 and have yet to receive a call back. Fast forward to 7/1 and today 7/6. My sister has been trying to file a claim with them since sons of her items showed up damages and we're still getting the same run around. No one is available to speak to her. She then gets transferred to a "manager" that never returns her call. Take my advice. Don't walk, RUN as far away from this company as possible. Also forgot to mention that when her delivery finally arrived on 6/29 there was only one person downloading ALL of her items and he didn't even secure all of the screws back in her son's bunk bed because the packers/loaders lost the screws. read more

Avoid at all costs for long distance moving. Once they receive half payment up front and pick your stuff up they ghost you. They picked my stuff up on 5/29 and were contractually obligated to deliver it by 6/16. It is now 6/21 and they aren't returning my calls. They broker your stuff out to the lowest bidder and hope for the best. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Our building is frustrated because we've had movers scheduled for 5 different days over the last two weeks as they keep breaking promises and delaying further. I called the office(spoke to Peter) right away and they said it will be replaced and they will contact me in a week. No one reached out to replace the glass. CHEATERS!! I went with Empire because I had heard great things and the reviews overall looked good. First, they messed up my move date and then they tried to cheat me out of my dedicated truck. Initially, I went with a shared move but in the end decided to go with a dedicated move instead because I felt more comfortable knowing the truck was dedicated to moving only my items from NY to NC which I paid extra for. However, on the day of the delivery, I learned there had been other items on the truck for another customer that were delivered before I received my items. That my friends is not a dedicated move that is a shared move and a difference of $1000. I tried speaking to the supposed owner Florin but he wanted to gaslight me and proceeded to tell me how unhappy I was and I was just looking for a reason not to pay. Which, by the way, I never said I wouldn't pay for the move but I'm not going to pay an extra $1k for what was supposed to be a dedicated move for it to actually, be a shared move. Ever heard of double dipping, lol. Not to mention while I'm on the phone trying to discuss this with him he is charging my card without reviewing the billing with me. I would never use this mover again because the owner, Florin, is so unprofessional, it's astounding. It's a shame, because the moving crew themselves were actually pretty good. There are TWO empire movers and I was recommended the other one from a client, but sadly, I called this one by accident. We moved in the winter and it took me this long to write this review so I could be objective. I lived on a 3rd floor walkup moving to an elevator bldg. I paid for them to pack my stuff. We agreed I would need FOUR moving guys and a certain number of boxes. The crew came the day before to pack us. They only sent THREE guys. Because of this, it took extra long to both pack and then extra long to move the next day-- because both days, only 3 guys were there, not the 4 I had signed the contract for. That being said, the 3 guys: Bobbin and his crew were pretty good. They were at our place from 8am til about 8pm each day. We really needed that 4th man! We treated the guys so we'll: always water, breakfast, lunch, snacks, coffee. Spent alot of money on food for them. The packing was not that organized. Boxes just said kitchen, living room, so good luck finding cups or sheets when you move in. Also some of the boxes were packed inefficiently, definitely leading to us using more boxes than we were originally quoted. Now if you are the mover, that's YOUR job, then I would say it's also your job to do a proper assessment of the work and to CORRECTLY quote to the client how many boxes they need. Perhaps you should send someone to the house to scope it out. Perhaps ask for pictures. On the second day of this exhausting packing and all day moving, which took extra long because we were missing the 4th guy, Bobbin tells us that we owe $1000 more because we went over the boxes in the contract. So we asked to speak to the owner, Florin, about it to negotiate something agreeable since he didn't give us the 4 guys as agreed upon. Florin got on the phone and refused to make any negotiation. He started yelling and talking extremely fast, talking over us, not letting us get a word in at all. He actually hung up on us at one point. We called again. Then he threatened us and said that he was going to keep all our belongings, which were now packed on one of his trucks. He threatened to hijack our stuff and not deliver anything to our new home. This is all while the truck and crew are parked AT our new home. He screamed and acted so unprofessional, it was so upsetting. We tried to reason with him, but he didn't care. He said if we didn't pay cash now, he was keeping our stuff. He then said he was going to call the police on us, and we asked him to kindly do so, as we would love the police to intervene at this point. He was yelling more, and said we had a contract. I said yes, we did have a contract for 4 people, which you did not honor, causing extra hardship and extraordinarily long packing and moving time for us. He hung up on us again and then we had to communicate with only Bobbin. We were forced to pay them $2500 in cash in order for them to unload OUR belongings off their truck. Oh and of course, we tipped each guy $150 because they did a decent job in actually moving all the stuff. It was so embarrassing to the crew that their boss acted so unprofessional. I can't believe a business owner would act how Florin did. Truly despicable. Believe the reviews. And call the other empire movers. read more

The good reviews on here strike me as coming from profiles that aren't real. I would challenge Florin to tell me what exactly in my review is false. Most of it was documented in real time by me as it happened, so the notes are contemporaneous, and most of the review is compromised of e-mails that I cut and paste and put into the document. I am shocked to see that Florin is now claiming I am racist. None of the movers were of the same skin color as me. The only text I sent at 11pm was to thank Vlad for helping me move. Yelp is acting up on me so I am copying and pasting my message here. "Hi Vlad, this is Erin who you helped move last week from --to --. Sorry for the late message, we've been busy since the move. I just wanted to say thank you again for helping us move everything across so well." Note that the damage was the entire dresser splitting in half. The back fell out and some of my personal items were damaged, 1 is missing. Another plastic drawer had a wheel broken. If Empire paid for insurance, I should be eligible for insurance payout. ------------ Unfortunately this is a company that has no follow through SOP and unethical practices. If you decide to use this moving company, I've come up with a list of tips so you can hopefully prevent the same headache I had using them: 1) Follow up with the management office on all COI and paperwork, and double check the work 2) Ask who the movers are. The good ones I know are Charlie, Vlad, maybe Antonio and Victor. If someone's name is not on this list, ask how long they've been with the company and if they have been fully trained and briefed (note that I did ask if the movers have been fully briefed as well but I still went through difficulties) 3) On the day of the move, always have someone nearby checking the movers work (we did as well but we were not hawk eyed, which we should've been with the bad mover) 4) Should you still encounter issues, you may need to log a case with the Better Business Bureau and Small Claims Court. If you care to, you may want to read my personal experience with them: - 1 day before the move, I had to ask them if everything was on track with the COI. They came back asking for moree information only after I asked them this. If I didn't, they may not have prepared the COI in time. - Even though I sent them clear instructions on COI requirements for both buildings, both COIs sent to both buildings had errors. I had to double check on their work. - The mover that gave me the most trouble was new, yet no one checked on his work. As the customer, we had to check on his work periodically and he kept making mistakes so we complained to the project lead, but still no one went back to check on his work. Turns out he was lazy and did not unpack our dresser and drawers, which led to a broken dresser and drawer. Even though I paid for the services of 4 movers, this mover was not physically there for the move. I saw him for 1 hour in the morning and maybe 30 minutes in the afternoon - We complained to Florin and Brad continuously but no attempt was made too contact us back with next steps on how to claim the damages - A few days after the move, they find out that they made a mistake on their payment, and instead of Florin or Brad calling me to explain what happened and give me an update which I have been asking for, they asked another lady in their team to chase me for payments - I asked the lady to get Florin or Brad to give me an update. Florin was there and told her to tell me that we had already spoken thee night before. He had told me that he needed to speak to his team members, that's it. Only after I insisted, did he finally get on the phone with me. - Florin raised his voice and told me that he will not update me on anything, and threatened a lawsuit - I follow up this conversation with an email explaining that a courtesy update is all a customer is asking for, as I was not able to get much of a word in during my conversation with Florin. I am attaching my email and his response to me so you can see for yourself the type of person Florin is. Note that I am pregnant and Florin knows this. - After receiving my email, I finally get 1 call from Brad to ask for further information on the damage done to my furniture and he explained that as part of the legal contract to move, there's insurance coverage. I was happy to finally get a proper update. - I was sent a wrong invoice which till today I have yet to receive the correct invoice - I made full payment within the day itself - I sent pictures of my damaged furniture to Brad and Florin. Till today I have received no further update. The move was on 25 February. It's now 4 March. - As mentioned by Brad, there should be insurance coverage. I now have doubts whether they truly insured my move. - Due to the high stress of the situation, I developed severe hives all over my body. When I visited my OBGYN last Friday my blood pressure was clocked for the first time at a much higher level. - I was quoted a very high price for the move. $2444 including credit card charges. I have moved with these guys 3 times and the 3rd time was indeed the charm! I emphasized several times that I have time constraints and I only want their services if they can be there at 9am. At 9:30am I called them and they said they will be there by 11-11:30 because they got a flat tire. Eventually they showed up at 12:15! After the move was done, the manager, Brad, called and gave me a total which was 80% higher than the flat rate he had given me over the phone just 2 days ago. I thought he is gonna justify it by talking about differences in the inventory; instead, he completely denied that he had given me a flat rate! Long story short, if like you to deal with someone that doesn't care about your time and lie like it's nothing, Brad is your guy! Empire Movers helped us move in some really stressful, physically challenging conditions, and didn't bitch for a second of it. Worth every penny. We hired three people (one for their van, two to move furniture in and out) and they moved FAST. They brought in special boxes for clothes, taped everything up in our place and brought it down to the truck; drove to the new place 30 minutes away, found a decent parking spot nearby and moved boxes... ...through a ridiculously narrow hallway in an old building in Chinatown, and up 5 floors in a walk-up. Yep, no elevator or anything, on a cold-ass day in the middle of winter, sweating from the work all the way through. They kept at it for hours and still managed to be professional and courteous / didn't complain at all. Made sure to give them a big fat tip at the end. Misleading. The price paid was doubled the price quoted. Bait and switch!!!! They wanted charge for wrapping a mirror already in packaging and charge for placing a television in a box. They knew ahead of time where the pick-up and drop off was; then charged extra for mileage and tolls. Had we known this,, we would've NEVER used them.. My daughter had furniture that fit in a studio, yet they sent a truck for a 2-3 bedroom fully furnished apartment. They wanted to charge $300.00 for canceling 2-days prior to the scheduled date. The crew was fast, hardworking, polite and had to traverse several flights of narrow stairs in my brownstone. I hired Empire Movers for my recent move. Despite paying over $3k for their services, including tip (and buying food for the movers while they worked!), they somehow lost, broke, or damaged many of my belongings, including: - Critical component of my custom bed frame, rendering the frame unusable and I am now sleeping with my mattress on the floor. The piece will cost $700 to replace (not including shipping), and Empire Movers is not willing to replace the item. - Couch legs. They disassembled my couch and lost the couch legs, so my couch is now on the floor as well. Instead of purchasing replacement legs, Empire Movers offered instead to fashion their own replacement legs to save money. - West Elm book case. The moving team cracked one of the shelves in half. - West Elm media stand. The moving team dented the wood media stand. - West Elm lamp. The moving team disassembled my lamp and somehow lost half of the pieces, including the glass lamp shade and bulb. I imagine they broke these items and are just trying to cover it up. - Glass scale - Clothing. The moving team somehow lost the box containing all of my t-shirts and a couple pairs of shoes, together worth in excess of $3k. The box also had several books at the bottom of it, but we cannot identify exactly which books are missing so we did not bother claiming. Perhaps the worst part of my experience with this moving company is that they had me sign off on the bill of lading AND PAY THEIR 20% TIP before they notified me that all of these items were missing. I have since tried speaking with them about potential resolutions, but after they offered to replace some of the items with inferior products (they basically said it isn't their fault that I have expensive things), they have become totally unresponsive. I will 100% never work with this company again. They are unprofessional and do not deserve your money. Work with literally anyone else. read more

Empire moving increased the price of our move from $1,000 in packing to over $8,000 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The movers they hired damaged our apartment so we lost our deposit, boxes packed by them never arrived, and numerous items arrived broken or damaged. They left my credit card out in the street. They offered no explanation for the severe increase in cost of packing or gave any refund in this price. They send you to a third party to obtain possible refund for items lost and damaged. Fantastic service from start to finish! We moved between 1-bedroom apartments in Manhattan in mid-June 2021. Brad was very responsive and helpful during the planning phase. The day of the move went smoothly, as Charlie and his colleagues packed up our entire apartment in about 4.5 hours (full service packing), and then unloaded in about 2.5 hours. The guys were very accommodating when it turned out that we could only reserve our building freight elevator for a limited timeframe. After a week of unpacking boxes at our new place, my wife and I were amazed to see that not a single item was damaged or missing. My move was to take 6 hours. They sent 2 guys instead of 4. It took 18 hours and they broke many dishes, scratched some tables and my couch mysteriously had stains on it. The movers were great and worked almost 24 hour shifts. Really hard workers. But management was non responsive to correct any mistakes. Florin did not return my calls or emails for weeks. It's now been 5 months and I've yet to hear back. I don't have enough dishes to host a small dinner party because they broke so many and wouldn't compensate for them. Really bad service. The owner and/or management of this company was very unprofessional. they charged us the day before any service was provided when the service was dependent on what they did say of, they overcharged us by a significant amount, we paid for the service of the movers unpacking our boxes/bins and when we asked the movers they refused and we're very rude. When we called management to inquire about this they kept on telling us that someone would call us back. The movers became increasingly more rude as the day went on and last, but certainly not least, the movers gave out our personal address to one of their friends who showed up at our house and sat outside our home for the next few hours. They also started to ask us how much things in our home cost us to buy. This was beyond unprofessional, this makes me feel incredibly unsafe knowing some random stranger now has my address.
