Unfortunately My experience with this business was very poor. I was promised my glasses within two weeks and it took over six weeks as they continued to be 'lost at the factory.' When they finally did arrive the lenses were wrong and needed to be reground which was another two weeks and they still arrived the wrong strength. I repeatedly told them they wee the wrong strength or ground incorrectly. When I complained, after four trips, their way of rectifying the situation was for me to bob my head up and down until the letters came intoI still focus. Which they never did. When the Pandemic was cut back, off I went to Kaiser to get a pair of glasses with these glasses in hand and had my Doctor check them out and he staled they were the wrong strength for me, no wonder everything was blurry and unfocused! Still, the office manager claimed Kaiser was wrong and they have a different computer and the computers were wrong. Talk about not owning your stuff! I still have had no compensation and have these glasses which are useless to me. Not even an apology..... I have been without readers since lat October as it took me this long to recover financially to buy another pair, even through Kaiser ($1200)Yikes! No wonder they make soupy up front. read more

Good optometry; slipshod optical.

What a mess. I was 9 minutes late to my appt, don't forget to leave time to pay for street parking....the front desk informed me of the 10 minute late policy, to which I said, "whew, glad I'm only 9 minutes late." 5 ish staff sitting behind the desk and not a client in site, so I'm not sure what the deal was. I'm filling out 2 pages of paperwork and the staff is letting me know of my scanning options, to which another staff yelled across the office, "she's already 10 minutes into her appt, she does not have time for dilation". Whatever lady, I'll pay the $30 ish for the other option and I fill my form out in less than a minute. I proceed to stand there for longer time time than it took me to fill out the form, before being brought back to my appt. I was in and out of there in less then 20-30 min and saw one client in there when I was there, so I'm not sure what the big time crunch issue was or the snotty attitude about it, since I was still within their policy. This was my third visit in the last 10ish years. The first two I was treated very nicely, probably because I spent $400 on one pair of glass s while there. However as a new glasses wearer my husband informed me that paying $400 for glasses is not normal and to stop buying designer frames here. So on this most recent visit, as I left I got my rx and asked the front desk staff if the prescription would be enough information to order glasses online. In the worlds snottiest tone, think National Lampoons Christmas Vacation, "I don't know Margo" she replied, I don't know, I've never ordered glasses online. Well ok then. She then questioned why I wasn't using my vision benefits, which included free lenses. So I ask her much is a base pair of glasses, to which she quoted $120, plus $85 for anti glare. So $205 later I get to use my benefits?!?!? I can get them for less than $50 online. Look, I know life sucks right now, but you'd better get it together. Your front desk staff has horrible customer service. Not a snowballs chance I'll ever return here and I'll make sure everyone I come in contact knows what an awful experience I had. Two stars only because if you throw $400 at them for a pair of glasses, they treat you like a queen. read more

The optometrists are nice and professional and the front desk people are pleasant BUT the place is poorly managed. Here's an example: I am a new patient and was called to inform me that my order was in and to come in and pick it up. I drove 40 mins (one direction) to find a note on the door saying they closed early for a "staff meeting" (ie holiday party), and to add insult to injury, there was an employee inside waving away customers while pointing at the sign... who could have simply handed me my contacts because there was no payment at this point. This is not only unprofessional but very insensitive to their clients time and efforts. read more

After previously having repeated and recurrent scheduling issues with the office, they made things right by discounting my frames and by comping my digital retina scan. I like the staff at this office and they were apologetic for the issues I encountered with their scheduling, which were, in the end, out of their direct control. I quite enjoy my new glasses... just wish their Rx sunglasses were a little cheaper. read more

I could not recommend this office for anything other than the minimum required for an eye exam. After receiving my exam and attempting to inquire of what would be available for progressive lenses, I was told that my current lenses were possibly of low quality. I asked what manufacturer or supplier that they would suggest and the lens technician said i should not ask questions. As a provider for VSP insurance in California they should be removed as being approved for anything. I am looking for another office to obtain my replacement progressive lenses along with prescriptive sunglasses. It was a total waste of time going to Empire Optometry. read more

If I could give no stars, I would. While the doctors are very nice professional ladies, their office/ billing manager Veronica is completely rude, disrespectful, and doesn't know how to accurately bill for services. When asked to show my billing she gave me my husbands paperwork not mine and a letter that the Doctors are no longer willing to see my entire family as patients. When confronted with evidence of her mistake,Veronica refused to speak with me anymore nor would she allow me to speak with the Doctor and would not provide my paperwork as asked. To the doctors, I would say if this is the person that you want best representing you, your business is going to decline. I am left with no option now but to take the doctors and billing staff to court as Veronica seems to not be able to admit she made a correctable mistake and instead of listening to the problem and correcting it she is choosing to cost both the Doctors and myself more money with missed time from patients, court fees, etc... Shame on Empire Optometry for not providing patient care and services up to the level they advertise. Let the buyer beware, if there is a billing and you call it to their attention you should start looking for a new doctor as they will simply give you a lteer that the Doctor will no longer see you or anyone in your family that may be a patient as well. I have been going here for years, spending $1000s of dollars in sunglasses and frames on a yearly basis. My daughter had an eye exam today during an extremely rainy & stormy day. We were 14 minutes late for her appointment due to traffic from the storm. She was turned away by receptionist stating "anything past 10 minutes needs to be rescheduled". I said check out the weather outside and that I tried to phone but got the voicemail. Last week, my son and myself both had appointments where we had to wait 15 minutes after our scheduled time, yet did not complain. We will not be rescheduling and I will not be returning to this business. Not very good customer service or treatment of paying clients. We have never been late for an appointment and due to the storm should have been allotted some grace. There were no other clients in the place & no cars in front so it's not like they were slammed busy. Try answering your phone lines and I wouldn't have wasted my time and energy to drive to this place. Receptionist was rude! Definitely do not recommend and will not be back. read more

Cancelled same day bc doctor was sick which is fine but the front desk receptionist was rude and defensive when I said "aw that's shitty". She said I swore at her. I didn't at all and explained I was just expressing my disappointment that my appt was cancelled and they couldn't get me in for another 4 weeks. Honestly I was happy being put on the cancellation list and it wasn't a personal attack the way I expressed it. The fact I had to have this back and forth with her on a personal basis rather than for the appt I was trying to figure out, really put a bad taste in my mouth and I will be booking somewhere else. read more

I had an irradiating eye on Saturday. Waited until Monday morning, called at 8:30 and got an appointment at 10. Front desk were super friendly as well as the doctor. I used to work right across street from this office. One time, I got my mascara on my contact lens and need solution to wash it off. However, there are no places within walkable distance that I can buy solution. So I walked into this office and asked for a little bit solution to clean up my soft contact lens which I thought was a very simple request. The front person and the female optometrist there told me they "don't have solution" for my contacts lens and asked me to go to a "nearby" Walgreens instead, while they know there aren't any around here. I walked out and went into Empire Optical 1 block down the street. They gladly led me into a room with mirror and provided me with BOTH solution and lens case to clean my contact lens and even supplied me with a sample solution to take home. I'm still giving this place two stars because I figured at least they didn't beat me out with a stick. So kind of them. read more

Fast, friendly, and a great selection. Most importantly, Empire is trustworthy. I had gone to Lens Crafters in the past where I was told I had a predisposition for macular degeneration and pitched expensive supplements. I related this to Dr. Diez who reviewed the evidence and decided that it was a BS diagnosis made in an attempt to squeeze me for more money. It feels great to be taken care of. read more

I've had an eye issue for about the past month and came here in the hopes of getting help, and they over delivered on that! I unfortunately do not remember the names of the doctors that I saw during my visits but they were both very kind, friendly, and thorough with their work. In my three visits, they made sure I was brought into the exam room quickly and gave me a very clear diagnosis as well as follow up routines that would help with the healing steps of my issue. I used to go to a place in Larkfield, but I felt that they just wanted to sell glasses as opposed to actual eye care. This place is much closer to work, so I can just walk there. I went for the Opto Map - so you don't have to dilate. So worth it! You pay an extra few bucks more (but it's only once a year) and you don't spend the rest of your day all messed up. I have dark eyes so the doctors always had to use more and it would last so long. The visit was quick and to the point. You get to spend some quality time with the doctor! At the end, I got the prescription to make glasses elsewhere. I feel this doctor is much more trustworthy than my last one. Rivals my favorite, now retired, optometrist. I do wish the parking situation is better, for others. read more

My daughter switched from glasses to contacts. Called around, Empire had a fairly open/flexible schedule- so here we came. Super nice staff, took us back to see the optometrist right away. My daughter already just had a full eye exam six months prior, so they didn't make us do the full "new patient" monotonous paperwork/exam as I had expected. We were just there for a contact fitting, and that's what we got, plus a good "teaching/instruction" on the how tos, and not to dos. First night home, my daughter lost her contact. Following day, we called the office to see if they could squeeze her in for a quick exam (still never found the contact), but they gave us not just a replacement for the lost one, but an extra "just in case" another rookie error happened. :) By the weeks end, we were ready to order the contacts, they broke down the prices after VIP insurance payed, and gave another pair of her prescription contacts to hold us over while waiting for her contacts to arrive. Within less than a week, they arrived- the pick up was quick and easy! Great staff all around, all very helpful, generous, understanding, and professional. We'll be back folks! read more

Yesterday, I had my first appointment at Empire Optometry for my annual screening. I was a little nervous, since usually on your initial appointment the optometrist usually has to dilate your eyes (which I am not a fan of). The staff upon entering were friendly, courteous, and welcoming. I didn't even need to show my insurance card, because the staff already had all my insurance information pulled up and printed out. It shows the office is very organized and very well run. I was early for my appointment, but they still managed to take me into the back to get the basic needed tests done before my exam so it didn't take time out of my appointment. This office on your initial visit offers you either the choice to be dilated or you can have a photo of both your eyes taken for a fee of $39, which is honestly not a lot for the type of technology they use and especially for not having to dilate your pupils. There is ample street parking with paid meters which makes finding a spot easy as possible. The staff works with you as a customer and they do everything to make your visit as pleasant as possible. The optometrists are all very friendly and courteous and very welcoming into their office just like the rest of the staff. I have finally found an optometrist that I will continue to go to from here on out. Great job Empire Optometry and thank you for making my initial visit a great one. read more

I just sent my assistant over because she was afraid as her eye was turning pink and she was very concerned. Dr. Jones took great care of her, quickly daignosed the inflammation and saved her a trip to the ER which would have cost a couple thousand, not to mention that most ER docs are quick to prescribe antibiotics, even in cases of non bacterial infections, for which anti-biotics are made for. Thank you Dr. Jones for helping my assistant, without her, its difficult for me to run my business. read more
