Husband and I started going here years ago. Loved the food, the staff, and overall ambiance. Over time that began to change. Complimentary tea no longer graces their tables, and the food is in decline. We have come back multiple times over the past few years, despite better judgment. We hoped they would find that spark that originally drew us in. Unfortunately it's not there anymore. After getting sick multiple times on their food, giving them another chance. Fail. Rinse and repeat, results the same; mediocre food at best that makes us sick....last night was the final straw. Ordered 3 sushi rolls. They were soo tiny that putting them together almost made a full size roll (that you would normally expect). The food was not great, and we managed to eat most of it. Both feeling a bit sick before being able to finish (not normal for us, we can pack away tons of sushi). Fast forward about a short time later, and before I know it I'm running to the bathroom to projectile vomit. I have never done that!! Whatever is going on with their food, my body wanted it out and it was NOT waiting. Empire Palace is still a take-out only restaurant. We have ordered several times from this restaurant and it is always delicious. The wonton soup is in a rich broth with LOTS of wontons. It warms you up immediately on a cold night. The boiled dumplings are a devious appetizer with a nicely seasoned pork filling. The candied walnut chicken is my go to dish. The chicken is moist and tender in a rich brown sauce. The candied walnuts add a sweet note while providing some crunch. My daughter loves the sweet and sour chicken. The chicken is battered in a light crisp tempura batter. The sauce comes with pineapple and onion. This makes the sauce! The acid from pineapple and the earthiness of the onion play nicely against the sweet sauce. She also loves the lo mein. The noodles have flavor and texture! read more

I immediately went to the Chef's Specials page. Maybe I like to imagine a chef carefully curating my takeout container. Who are you to judge? Ha I went with the Seafood in Flower Basket. I mean, it sounds beautiful, no? A seafood lover's dream, chock full of tender chunks of lobster, fluffy scallops, and chonky shrimp. Whatever the special sauce is, it pairs beautifully with the seafood. One friend got the Amazing Chicken. I got to try a piece, and can confirm it was amazing. Fried chicken nugs in tangy sauce, can't go wrong! The other friend got General Tso's; The picky person's Chinese menu item of choice. Although I firmly believe it's hard to mess up this classic, this was an above average GTC. I can't say for sure, but I like to think the General would be pleased. All that plus classic Crab Rangoons. Everyone loves rangoons, unless you are allergic to seafood or lactose intolerant (In either case, I offer my sincere condolences.) Really disappointed. My hot and spicy chicken was not spicy at all. It tasted like straight soy sauce. Extremely salty. The corn in it tasted freezer burnt. There were a bunch of brown speckles in my white rice. Like someone used a spoon that had been used in something else. The hot and sour soup was good. The general tsos was a bit mild. read more

The food has always been good and service excellent. I will not go back. Having taken leftovers home on a previous visit and having the contents leak out onto my seats because of the styrofoam container that didn't seal, I asked for a plastic take out container instead. I was told I would be charged for the container. My meal was close to$20 and they wanted me to pay for a take home container that wouldn't leak. I told them I would never come back. They said ok. They do some prep work ahead, but this food is not just sitting in the back under a warmer waiting for someone to call or walk in. Second, the ingredients are all fresh and cooked perfectly. My third point might vary on your preference, but I get really annoyed when I order Lo Mein and am given noodles with vegetables like carrots and celery and meat. To me, if you are calling it Lo Mein, it should hold some semblance to the original recipe. Here, if you order Beef and Broccoli, General Tsos, fried rice, Kung Pao, etc you will receive just that. You can also request all white meat chicken, if dark meat is not your thing. I very rarely write reviews, but Empire Palace deserves to be recognized for the quality food and wonderful service they provide. I have never had a bad experience here. read more
