Absolute joke. Have ordered THOUSANDS of dollars of food here for YEARS. Until I just placed an order for 2 identical pasta meals which come with a salad. Also ordered an appetizer. Paid for delivery and chose the highest tip selection for the driver. Food came and for the second consecutive order, the salad dressing was opened in the bag, causing an absolute mess of oil all over everything in that bag. THEN....THE TWO ACTUAL ENTREES MISSING....only salads received. Flagged down the driver who was pulling away, attempted to explain, but they didn't speak English. Called Empire and explained the situation. Was told I COULD COME PICK UP what was missing (LOL)...I told them I paid for delivery. They said there was nobody who could deliver it. I told them to then refund the order and if they wanted the salads, exploded dressings and appetizer, come and get it, but refund my money since I paid for something not received. They said to "go to the Toast app and click refund through there". Hung up, went to the Toast app to find there was no such function. Initiated help through the app, and was told refunds are ALWAYS through the businesses (as expected....no sense expecting competence at this point). Called back Empire....was told "nobody there to initiate a refund, bit would get confirmation in 3-5 days)...just a laughable joke this is the process for a simple use case of a delivery order not receiving their order. Not to mention that the kitchen staff has consistently got my same simple order wrong and has looked at me like I'm the bad guy for just wanting the same thing that I always order. Also, notice that the "management" seems to only respond on Yelp to positive reviews. That's a telltale sign. Very few people who work there smile or even say hello. Not all, just not many. My advice. Clean house. To whom it may concern - my fiance and I frequent empire pizza quite a bit. We were in there a few days ago and the manager lady was talking to her employees absolutely inappropriate. The tone she talks down to them in and cursing and yellling across the restaurant is absolutely ridiculous. She rolls her eyes at the teenage staff behind the counter and talks down to everyone as if they're stupid. We've noticed this for a while and was hoping a change would have taken place by now. We have never seen anyone treat their employees this way and you can tell that the employees are affected by it. There needs to be some kind of investigation into this and speak with the employees to see what is going on there. As much as we love the food here, I hate to say we will not be coming back as we don't support staff being treated this way. I don't understand how someone could let this go on for so long . I really hope something can be done. But according to all her other bad reviews I doubt it. But I really hope so for the staff and the future of the restaurant. read more

Empire Pizza has very good New York style pizza and very friendly staff to boot! The Dining Room is quite spacious with metal signs decorating the ceiling. They have a full bar with a decent craft beer selection on draught. They run drink specials every day too! Despite the name, they have more than just pizza. They have many pasta options including tortellini, spaghetti and ziti among others. I had the blackened chicken pasta from the lunch specials menu and it was very tasty! They even have lasagna and baked ziti on the menu! If weren't enough, they also have wings that I'm told are quite legit! I haven't had them yet but I'm planning on it the next time I go in. Had a terrible experience here tonight with my kids. It took 15 minutes to get drinks and then I ordered a buffalo chicken wrap and substituted the grilled chicken for crispy chicken (tenders) and subbed the buffalo sauce for teriyaki. Also asked for a side of ranch. The server came out 10 minutes later to let me know that they "were out of chicken tenders, so I told the kitchen to make the grilled chicken crispy" and didn't ask me if I wanted to change my order or if that was ok and then walked away. The server brought the food out and said "they gave you spicy ranch, Hope that's ok" and again walked away. I then see the server again 10 minutes later and asked for teriyaki sauce because none was put on my wrap (along with no chicken tenders and had grilled chicken instead) and the server said that they would be charging me even though I ordered it to begin with instead of buffalo sauce. The meal was terrible and the server never brought refills back either. I'd never recommend this location and wish I'd have gotten a chance to talk to a manager since I had to pay for the opposite of what I ordered. read more

My husband and I support a local restaurant once a week during this COVID time. We know to be patient with staff and restaurants at this time, but unfortunately this was our first Empire Pizza experience and will be our last. We ordered one pizza at 4:45 PM and requested pickup at 6:00 PM. Plenty of time to get our pizza made, you would think. Well we got there a little bit before 6, and they said they would text us when our pizza was ready. At 6:20, we go back. We've been waiting over 20 minutes, at this time - but 20 minutes beyond our pickup time. We were again told just to wait as they were busy and they would text us. Okay if you are busy, then learn how to handle pre-orders only take so many at each 15 minute timing or something. We waited about another 15 minutes before they ran it out to us - staff person did apologize, but the wait time for the specific time we requested was not acceptable. My guess is that because we pre-ordered instead of calling in for immediate pickup, our order was forgotten about. Then when we arrived, they were like oh crap, we have this pizza to make - which makes sense for the 40-45 minute wait when we got there. Service obviously could be better for pre-orders, but even aside from the service, I would probably only give them 3 stars had it been great service. Pizza was only okay - got the Greek, okay toppings with some flavor but nothing great. Edge of crust was very chewy, not good. We unfortunately would rather go to other pizza places or just fix our own at home. read more

Today I ordered five specialty pizzas from Empire Pizza in York I ordered for myself a large cheese bruschetta pizza this was my favorite pizza of all time I've been in California for the last year I'm currently moving back to Rock Hill and I used to go to Empire Pizza every Friday and order the same Pizza it was my favorite pizza so I was really looking forward to that and I ordered three more specialty pizzas for some friends it had to be ordered through doordash I contacted the store after placing the order to make sure that it was correct they told me it was the order came and I was so disappointed I ate one piece of pizza and I will be returning the one pizza tomorrow the other three weren't much better but I left those for my friends this pizza doesn't have more than a dozen pieces of chicken on it it has no toppings it's literally cheese with a little balsamic drizzled on it I was so this order came to over $100 I could have got better at the grocery store or Domino's not a really good way to keep customers at least not this customer so here's a picture you tell me what you think read more

I don't know what happened but the food quality has gone down along with the service. I was seated before another table and was waited on last. Seems to be another case of "take the larger party first for the tips." While there, another customer had an unruly child that was screaming at the top of their lungs. I stared at the assumed parents without any response so I kindly asked my server if they could get management to address this problem since it was not making my dining experience enjoyable, but also causing me a (literal) headache. Management either refused or didn't care so I promptly asked for the check and a to-go box. Food portions are still large. The salad was good and also a meal in itself. This past visit, their main dining area was packed with several parties in the back room with only 2 servers working. I always sit in the bar area and although the 2 servers were slammed the bartender couldn't be bothered to help to pick up their slack because she was too busy standing at the back of the bar checking her phone. In June we order some pizzas for pickup, we waited and waited and then were given our order that had been ready all along. We chalked it up to an honest error and moved on. Ordered by phone 2 months later and asked for Sicilian cheese pizza. A team member said let me see that, I said this order is wrong, I ordered Sicilian. I was then informed that they don't offer that any longer. I said that would have been good to know when I placed the order on the phone and said sicilian pizza at least twice, I said you really have some excellent customer service here. it was already 8 pm and we were hungry so I did take the pizza. No one apologized or offer to make it right any way they could. We have eaten at Empire for years. This summer due to poor customer service we will no longer be returning. Most of us got pizza, but I got the Hot Plate chicken with pepperoni and aioli with a side of Parmesan garlic fries. The chicken was very good, with marinara and melted provolone. It was unique with the pepperoni slices melted with the cheese. I might be craving it in future. We ordered a Caesar salad for the table and it came with dressing on the side (which we thought was weird but ended up appreciating since we all wanted different amounts of dressing). The fries were amazing. Crispy and just the right amount of Parmesan garlic flavor. Not wet, somehow just infused with it. It was New Year's Eve, so they were busy, but the servers were friendly and we got our food without a major wait.
