The girl over the phone she ensured me a plumber will be arriving from 12 to 2pm. I took some hours off from work and just waited for him to come for hours. My appointment window was 10-12. I took off from work. Needed a new toilet installed. They said they would call 20 minutes before they arrive. At 12 o'clock I called . The person on the phone said the plumber was running 30 minutes late. I called back at 1pm. The same lady said he should be arriving soon. At 2 pm I called she said sorry but he is not finished at his first location. Do I want to reschedule? Are you kidding me (I said) I took off work and literally waited all day. The plumber showed up at 3:15..The price quoted was $175 - $225 per item. They never gave me a final amount until he finished . Of course more then the quote $275 per toilet. It took more then a month to get a scheduled appointment then they showed up with out a confirmation and could not do the work because the building needed to turn water off. I had sent an email to confirm and never got a reply. Finally confirmed an appointment for 9 am today, guess what, they did not show up. I called at 9 am to ask where they we're and she said she had been out for weeks with Covid, no one there bothered to let me know they were not coming and she would not confirm if the plumber was going to come or not. By 9:30 I had to inform the condo NOT to turn off the water because the plumber blew me off. Empire Plumbing rips you off. I called them last week and asked for an estimate to unclog my bathroom sink. I was told it would be around $100. The next day, November 10, they came, removed the sink stopper and cleaned its bottom that was really dirty. That solved the problem and charged me $150 for a 5 minute job. They clearly ripped me off and had no interest in starting a business relationship or leave a good impression. Not to mention that they do a lot of work for the building I live in (and am on the Board of Directors), the Waverly at South Beach. If they overcharge people like that, imagine a condo Association? I had an odd experience (non-experience) with Empire Due to a water main break, the copper tubing and filter leading to my dishwasher got clogged up. It's a pretty simple repair job but I have no tools nor much time in the evening for repair. I called Empire, and the woman screening the calls told me that they can do no work on any pipe or tubing or filter that is in anyway connected to a dishwasher. That, she said, would be something the appliance repair people would have to handle. She was quite adamant about it, almost like a stern civil servant telling someone that "it's not my department!" I explained to her that the filter and tubing were outside the D/W, but she would have none of it. SInce when can a licensed plumber not work on the tubing leading to a dishwasher? I wonder if that rule applies to hot water heaters? Or clothes washing machines? What CAN they work on? I was also going to have some work done on a bathroom faucet and a shower head and mixing valve, but her attitiude was so off-putting I just dropped it. ANd who knows? Maybe they can't work on pipes leading to a shower head? read more

I had a leak in my kitchen sink. I made an appointment. Dispatch said someone would be there between 11-1pm. So I waited...and waited...no one ever showed or called to say they wouldn't be coming. So I went about my day. I have used Empire for YEARS!!!! I think this company is great, I even met the owner, who works ALL THE TIME! He also works hard and VERY late, they are right by my house and I KNOW! He is also a very great human being as I personally was able to see his operation from the inside out! The last time I was there, they employees were all getting off work and I got to say hello to many of them. There were a few other loyal men that were still in the office and the owner got a call from someone in need. He called out to his staff and everyone jumped to help out even there two lovely sisters that work for him. Previously recommended by my building (not anymore). They understand that my building only allows for a 3h window for the water shutdown. Made it very clear that they need to be there at 10am in order to install the toilet. I confirmed with them the day before and the same day at 9:30 to ensure that they're coming and will be on time. Was promised that the plumber is coming after he finishes another job, at the latest 11am. At 11:15 I called them, and they said they only have one plumber and that he is currently busy with an "emergency leak". Called several more times and every time it was another excuse, and in the end nobody came. It's a total joke of a company. Especially since this happened to me 3 weeks earlier with another plumbing company and I was extremely clear about the situation, so these clowns should have known better. Don't rely on them under any circumstance if you need a plumber to come during a specific water shutdown window. They will NOT show up on time and your water shutoff will have been in vain. Don't bother! I called Empire, "a family run business", when I noticed a leak in front of my house coming from the base of a tree in the yard. I clearly explained the problem to the dispatcher. I am not sure why then, they sent out a technician, Michel, (who after talking with him for a while was not an experienced plumber) for a problem that was more complex than a clogged pipe or toilet. Michel had to call Phil (the business owners son) to assess the problem. It took almost 2 hours and multiple phone calls to the dispatcher before Phil finally arrive. Footnote: Each time I called the dispatcher I was told that Phil was 10 minutes away. Once he finally arrived, Phil explained what needed to be done. He said he would get a proposal drawn up in a couple of days and have it emailed to me. He verbally quoted a repair estimate between $1,800 to $2,200. 2nd Footnote: When I commented I was not a plumber, Phil said he was not a plumber either?! I waited for the email proposal and finally had to call (7 days after the visit) to follow up. I was told that it had already been emailed to me. (Not true) I asked them to resend and miraculously I received the proposal. The price on the proposal was higher than what Phil had quoted so I called to renegotiate the cost. Each time I called (6 times over several days) I was told that my call would be returned. I never received that call back so I moved on...I suggest you do the same if you are considering using Empire as a source for your plumbing solutions!! read more

Very bad customer service. The lady on the phone wasn't clear when making an appointment and providing the plumber's insurance. She told me after 2 days calling her that the plumber's licence takes up to 72 hours (when on the beginning she said it was only a few minutes) and I have to notify the association 24 hours before, and of course, reschedule my appointment again due to her mistake. She made me waste 2 days and my time calling her. She has no idea how to deal with clients, and it is not patient and constantly interrupting me while I was trying to explain one more time my concern. Once I told her that because she made a mistake I have to reschedule, all of a sudden she decided not to provide the service. What a shame that persons like her make a company look so bad. read more

Rip off, thieves, do not call them. Had a leak from 2 sinks in my tri sink commercial sink, called empire, they said they were busy and would send someone the following day between 12-2. First call was on a Tuesday. After a no show and no calls from them, I called at 4pm on a Wednesday and they said a guy is on the way. He showed up at 5, checked the leaks, said the company will contact me with an estimate. No estimate and no calls for 2 days. Called them again on Friday, 2 days later, they said I will receive an estimate by the end of the day. That means no one will come to fix the leak that day and I would have to wait till monday. Still no estimate, called again Monday, still no estimate. Called Tuesday they said they sent it, I never got it, I told them never mind, can you please tell me what the estimate is, they gave me a quote for 1875$, I told them they're out of they're mind and it's outrageous. I'm not a plumber but I'm not stupid and thank god I'm pretty handy, went to Home Depot, bought new pipes, strainers, sealants, washers and all tools needed for the job. Total cost me 126$ and 1 hour of work. 126$!!!!! Estimate for 1875$???????? Fixed both leaks, all commercial grade parts. Unbelievable. Will never call them again. read more

This is a horrible company and you should avoid using them. I called to make an appt the night before for a morning appt. between 9 and 11. By 10:30 I called to see when they would show up. They said they would call me right back, well, they didn't call until 1 pm. After they didn't call right back I called another company. When they called at 1 they said they called my home and work numbers, the work number I didn't instruct them to call. I had no missed calls on my other phone, so they lied. At 1 pm they said since they called me early and I didn't answer, they sent the repair guy to the next job. So, tell me, if that was the case, why didn't they tell me that at 10:30 instead of 1 pm. Very professional plumbing company. I had a blocked drain as well as a leaky pipe in my kitchen. This was causing water to also leak onto the kitchen floor and inside then kitchen cabinet. The plumber arrived, diagnosed the problem. He fixed it in about an hour. It involved putting a "snake" into the drain to clear the blockage an open up the drain which had a build up of residue after many years of usage. He also fixed the leak. What impressed me though was how careful he was to leave everything spotless. He laid a cover over the kitchen floor to protct the surface. Then one he fixed evrything he cleaned up the standing water from the floor and the cabinet, leaving the kitchen spotless. The only reason I don't give 5 stars is I think they are expensive. They charged 275 dollars which seems a lot for a 1 hour job with no parts. read more

Time window came and went and I called at 1230. They casually responded that they were running late and someone would arrive by 3pm. 3pm came and no show, no call, no nothing. Like an idiot I gave them the benefit of the doubt and made an appointment for a different day, in a different time window. No one ever showed. No one called. Just straight up nothing. A double treat: unqualified plumbers and management that does not honor their own warranty. Empire's plumber came to fix a leaking garbage disposer (which was new and just installed by a different company). The plumber said that the leak is due to wrong putty being used. He fitted correct putty and after charging $175, promised that it would not leak for many years. 11 months later, the disposer is leaking again, which had ruined my kitchen cabinet. Here is a recap of my conversations with Empire's manager - Yajaira Soto. 1. Yajaira: "We never did the work. Show us the invoice." 2. I sent the invoice. Yajaira after receiving the invoice: "It is not our invoice. I don't know where you got it. We can come and fix the leak but will charge you because the warranty expired." 3. Me: "How long is your warranty?" Yajaira: "1 year". Me: "It has not been a year yet." Yajaira: "We cannot help you." and on and on... Mold problems, frustrations, ruined cabinet and underflooring, and $175 out of pocket for all these pleasantries. They call us back at 8 and tell us they can't come at 8 and that it will cost $275 for an estimate. Completely inconsiderate and unprofessional to waste our time like this.
