We bought a hot tub from them with a 1 year warranty on labor and parts. They tried to get out of paying labor and I had to argue with them to get ours fixed. They lied to me every time I called and tried to blame it on the hot tub company that fixed the problem. Our hot tub pump broke in January and it took until April to get it fixed. They do not stand by their warranties. I will never shop there again and urge anyone who is thinking of going there, not to read more

I cannot believe I have to write out another long post about this company. I am not one to write reviews in the first place but I need everyone to know that this place is not worth even a thought in your mind. If you haven't seen my first review, go to their page & read that first...The day after I posted my review, my husband got a call from a man named Harry at Empire requesting a call back as my husband is a devoted truck driver & cannot always answer his phone. I thought, "oh wow! I must've gotten their attention, FINALLY!" Sad that it took a long, horrible review to do so but that's what it came down to. My husband returns Harry's call...I literally cannot make this up...Harry was calling to inform my husband that he was the owner of Empire & he was OFFENDED by my review!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS!? You don't think I'M OFFENDED by the horrible customer service my husband & I have been having to deal with for far too long!?!? Anyway, Harry calls to say he is offended & that HE was the man in the unmarked pick-up truck with his young son asleep inside. When my husband had told me this, I WAS FUMING!!! I had litetally called and requested to speak to the owners since Harold was no help at all & I was not able to do so. SO...this man was AT MY HOUSE & didn't even have THE COURAGE to tell me he was the owner of the store!!!!! Probably because he was in a rush & didn't want to have to deal with a customer complaint on a Saturday morning! He told my husband he didn't tell us because he didn't want us to hold back on speaking about the issues we were having with the company. IF ONLY I KNEW HE WAS THE OWNER, HE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN AN EAR FULL!!! Why would I complain to the average Joe dude who looked like he was just offered a couple bucks to drop off cabinets so no one from the store actually had to hear us complain?? Why would I give HIM a hard time???? & Harry told my husband this like he should have won some sort of medal! Or that we would be afraid that we had brought up the owner in our review & offended him! Harry was also upset because I wrote that my husband had to help him with the cabinets that day because he had never *ASKED* for the help. Oh...I'm sorry...were we suppose to just sit back and watch the one man band do the job of 2+ men!? Especially AFTER he said he wanted to "get it done as quickly as possible"... & not knowing that he was the OWNER & actually felt bad that this guy had to deal with this company's continuous mistakes!? **NOTE: he did comment saying he appreciated it - let me just throw that in there so we don't receive another phone call crying about it** Harry again went on about my "offensive" review & was upset that I had said that my husband had to drive all the way to the store which is an hour away from our home to retrieve the forgotten cabinet because THE OH SO WONDERFUL & TRUTHFUL HAROLD said he would bring it down to us after work. EXCUSE ME FOR NOT BELIEVING ONE THING OUT OF THESE PEOPLE'S MOUTHS AFTER THE HELL WE WERE (AND STILL ARE) GOING THROUGH. We needed to ensure that we had the cabinet so our contractor could resume our kitchen ASAP & not have to wait AGAIN for ONE CABINET. Harry didn't comment on the fact that it was the WRONG SIZE. Actually, Harry failed to admit to ANY of the wrong doings. All he did was cry he was offended and post blame on Yorktowne Cabinetry. At this point, I'm PAST the fact that the cabinets came wrong in the first place. What I'm upset about is how EMPIRE handled the situation AFTER THAT. Harry thought it was appropriate to point out that he has to spend $5,000 out of pocket for the correct cabinets for us. Unfortunately, Harry, those are some of the setbacks that occur in your line of work. YOUR CUSTOMERS had to pay $2,500 out of pocket for these mistakes!! The call ended by saying he would call my husband back the next day to see if there was anything he could do for us...guess who's still waiting on that return call??? I cannot say enough terrible things about this company. I didn't think I could be MORE disgusted than I was already before. Good job Harry!!! I purchased over $1000 of hardwood flooring from Empire. I asked to examine the planks first and, upon opening the box, I saw that many of the pieces were quite short. Johnny Challenger, the salesperson, told me that each box contained (on average) about 20% "shorties" (i.e., planks 2' or shorter.) He said that the high rate of these "shorties" in the open box was luck of the draw. When I balked, Johnny said, "Don't worry. You can use them in the closets." I told him that I only had one closet, which he ignored as he repeated the same suggestion. He said I could come back and buy another box or two if the plank lengths weren't to my taste. When my contractor began to lay them, he noticed that about 60% of the planks were shorties. I would've had to buy roughly $600 more hardwood to make the floor look passable. Further, when I contacted the owner and sales manager, I only got a reply to a mail that had a small mistake in it. When I corrected it, explaining what the problem was quite clearly, I got no response. Even when I asked more emphatically as to what "relief" they might be able to offer me, I heard no reply. I hear that the owner is a good businessman, so I don't know what happened. Clearly, the sales manager did not want to help me. Perhaps they'd paid some commission to the slick, pushy salesman and didn't want to take a "loss." Hopefully, this review will be a far bigger loss for them than the one that they might've taken by doing the right thing. Finally, I had to unload the wood at a fraction of the cost, only recouping $200... less than 20% of what I paid. Empire has good product and low prices, but the salesperson misled me and the company would not give me a refund for the unopened boxes. To me, that's HIGHLY DISHONORABLE. I don't care what their return policy is; you do not lie to the customer and offer no relief whatsoever. I would ***NEVER*** do business with Empire again, and I strongly recommend that, if you decide to do so, you get everything in writing. If you're buying flooring... get them to specify the grade, the plank lengths, the manufacturer, etc. Quite frankly, you'd do MUCH better to buy from BuildDirect (who I ultimately used to replace the product that Empire sold me.) The customer service representatives are polite, knowledgeable and honest... everything that Johnny Challenger (and the name says it all, doesn't it?) WASN'T. Warning: DO NOT BUY YOUR KITCHENS FROM THIS PLACE. This was one of the worst sales experiences of my life. I ordered cabinets on December 30th and they never showed up until the middle of March. When they finally arrived, we realized, that the manager/kitchen designer didn't order 12 feet of cabinets but only 11 feet so we had to wait another 8 weeks for another cabinet. (He knows he made a mistake but he didn't do the right thing and admit it.) When I asked why the cabinets were late and if it happens all the time, both the manager and owner told me no. They lied. It happens ALL THE TIME. That is what i was told by a stone cutter and another customer who had the same problem. But wait, it gets worse: we also purchased a granite counter top from them. They gave us a card for Granite Works, and said that they would cut the stone for us. It took us six weeks and countless phone calls and emails to even get a phone call back. Imagine, 6 weeks to return a phone call. The manager of Empire said he reach out to them a couple of times, that could have been a lie as well, and still no response. I asked for a refund for the granite so that we could find someone else who would actually cut the stone. They refused. Store credit only. Ok, can I use my store credit for the cabinet I had to order because your designer screwed up. The owner's answer: I'm going to report you for harrassing me. Really, harrassing you because I'm asking for a refund? After everything went wrong with the order??? First: who was she going to report me to? The refund police? lol. We did about a third of our kitchen because we were doing other major renovations to the house. What business owner gives up another $20-$30K dollars worth of kitchen cabinets by refusing to refund $700 after all the trouble that they put on us? Answer: Someone who shouldn't be in business. Instead of worrying about getting customers in the door, why don't you worry about taking care of the customers who do come in. Word of mouth is still the best form of advertsing. read more

Extremely dissatisfied with their promises and customer service. We ordered quartz countertops for our kitchen and after the delivery date came and went, we got the run around about where they were. After many phone calls on our end, we come to find out that they never received the shipment and probably wouldn't for another month. At this point our cabinets were already being installed. I asked for a refund as we paid in full. It's been over two weeks and I still haven't received it. In the meantime, we scrambled and got a granite countertop from another company which has already installed it. We didn't even receive an apology. I would NOT ever use this company! read more

My wife went to empire home center she purchased a bathroom vanity and a matching mirror. She waited about a hour for them to tell her that the mirror was at the other location. She paid for the items already without them checking there inventory. She finally called for the manager Harold he told her that she needed to drive to the other location to pick the mirror. She told Harold that she was from NJ and was not familiar with the reading area Harold gave her written directions so she left went to pick up the mirror. She drove about 30 miles and could not find the store she called empire they told her Harold was busy with another customer. She drove all the way back to the store. When she walked in Harold was standing there she told him you gave me the wrong directions! He said you were suppose to go down PENN STREET! There was nothing on the directions about PENN STREET! Harold gave her the refund for the mirror. He told her that he would get the mirror in on the next delivery in a couple of days. She has called about 7 different times they keep giving her the run around. She never got the mirror! THERE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TERRIBLE! BUYER BEWARE! read more
