I recommend staying away from EmpireWorks as a contractor. I'm on the board on an HOA that was unfortunate enough to have to work with them on an SB326 deck repair project in our community (prior board members had selected them as a vendor based on lowest price). In a nutshell, the quality of work was way below expectations. Given a large $200K+ project I didn't really expect perfection, but even when given the opportunity to make things right, they simply didn't. I didn't have any negative interactions with the staff, it's just a matter of them not being competent / good at what they do. At some point I and other board members & residents became so exhausted pointing out all of their fairly obvious mistakes we just gave up. Along those lines, we're now in the second phase of our deck project and have started working with other vendors given our bad experience with these folks - some part of the next vendor's work is just fixing up a lot of the poor work from EmpireWorks. Empire Works recently handled the replacement of the exterior wall light fixtures in our community. After the installation, we experienced electrical tripping issues. I contacted our HOA, and Nap from Empire Works reached out to us immediately. He came the same day to do an initial inspection, and quickly arranged for their electrician to come by the very next day. The electrician was extremely professional, he carefully checked everything from the new light fixtures to the wiring, and determined that the issue was actually caused by one of our interior outlets. He even assisted us in resolving that problem. Empire Works impressed me with their professionalism and efficiency. They addressed the issue in the shortest possible time, and I am especially grateful to Nap and his team for their excellent service. Highly recommended! read more

Empire Works is, without a doubt, the worst company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. From their unprofessional and downright disturbing crew to their shoddy workmanship, it's baffling that this company is still in business. My HOA in Ladera Ranch unfortunately hired this company to paint the wood trim, front door, garage door, and wood siding of our entire complex. What should have been a straightforward project turned into a nightmare, with one issue after another from start to finish. First, the crew has been nothing but malicious, rude, and outright nasty to the residents here. They act as though they own the area, parking their trucks wherever they please--including fire lanes, in front of people's garages, and in assigned parking spots--leaving residents unable to access their own homes. I personally dealt with the "site manager" parking his truck in front of my spot and blocking my car for weeks. Despite asking him multiple times to stop, he refused, cussed me out, and even became aggressive. It wasn't until I called their corporate office that the issue was addressed. Beyond this, the crew routinely takes up all guest parking spots and blocks fire lanes, endangering the community by obstructing fire hydrants--an especially reckless move given the frequent fires in the area. Their disregard for the community extends beyond parking. They regularly block entire roadways, preventing residents from accessing their homes and halting essential services like trash collection. When asked to move their unnecessary blockades, they either ignore the request or turn away. Just recently, we had to call the trash service back twice because the crew refused to clear the road. Their unprofessional behavior doesn't stop there. The crew litters the area with personal and equipment trash and lounges around in the middle of walkways during their breaks. It's disrespectful, unsightly, and incredibly unprofessional. As if the crew's behavior wasn't bad enough, the quality of their work is absolutely abysmal. After they "finished" my unit, I inspected it only to find numerous issues. They got white paint everywhere--on my newly painted deck, my entry porch, and the cement leading into the garage--likely because they didn't bother to tape anything. They painted my front door the wrong color, damaged my door mat, and even broke my son's screen door. I've attached photo evidence of their poor workmanship and lack of care. If you're considering hiring Empire Works, do yourself a favor and stay FAR away. If they're offering you a "deal," it's probably because they're desperate for work and know their organization is completely subpar. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the experience I had with this company. While I was out of state for a few weeks, I received a notice that my patio needed to be cleared, something I obviously could not do while away. When I returned home, I found my patio completely trashed. Multiple plant pots were broken, my plants were damaged or destroyed, and all of my belongings were piled directly in front of my sliding glass door, leaving me with no way to safely access my patio or even clean up the mess. To make matters worse, this is not the first time they have mishandled my property. When they worked on the exterior walls of my kitchen, I received no notice beforehand. I came home to find pictures that had fallen and smashed on the ground, as well as more pots knocked over. Had I been informed, I would have moved these items myself to prevent damage. This level of carelessness and disregard for someone's property is unacceptable. There was no attempt to handle my belongings respectfully, and no consideration for the fact that I was out of town and unable to comply within their timeframe. What should have been a simple process turned into a stressful and upsetting situation. I hope this company seriously reevaluates how they communicate with residents and how they handle people's personal property. read more

Still waiting for the revised proposal for wood repairs which we will need to determine what size special assessment will be required to get everything done. Over 10 people came to my house because I live on a corner of the street with open Metal Fencing all the way on the side of my house and in the back yard. The painting team was very organized and had people cleaning, painting, and double checking the total medal fence. They also had a supervisor who went around the fence area making sure that everything was painted correctly. They did a great job ! read more

My HOA hired these unprofessional painters to paint the doors at our condo. It took them about 6 hours because they were doing multiple doors at once, but also because they took a nice long lunch break. As they sanded down the door they didn't bother to cover my shoes and got wood dust all over my shoes and floor mat. As the painter was painting, he thought it was appropriate to use my counter stool without asking first to brace the door so it wouldn't move. Upon leaving, they did not clean up at all and the place was a mess. I emailed the company to complain and did not receive any type of response. A team of approximately 7-10 workers are doing a terrific job here in Woodbridge; they are replacing wood panels, repairing wood damage and covering a variety of "repair" needs on a large community of condominums. They work together as a team and persevere all day - they show patience and grit, focus and determination. They bring tall ladders and much of their work is on the rooftop areas and higher windows. -very impressed with their "can do" work ethic and professionalism. they also wear bright yellow vests and hard hats and seem to enjoy their work. read more

I had a laundry room enhancement project here at Marriott Shadow Ridge this project was for 12 laundry rooms it consists of applying new epoxy floors and paint the interior walls and doors. Empire knock it out of the park the empire associates were very professional and polite. they communacted very well as the project was ongoing. will use Empire again. read more

Recently purchased a townhouse that Empire Works did siding on... and if we hadn't been told it had been reconstructed we would have thought it was waiting to be done. The fashing ( sp)as replaced so haphazardly that it will be a miracle if there is not water damage. The windows were removed and not resealed sadly we found out the hard way the windows leak like sieves! They painted and only partially painted the door a grade schooler could have done better. Vents were left off as well as light fixtures from over a year ago! There appears to be areas of dry rot near the roof. We would not recommend this company based on what we have seen in this housing community and what we have heard from other residents one would be advised to read the not recommended reviews as some are from residents of housing communities where the work has been done unlike the HOA's who contract it. read more

A Low bidder to get contract and then destroy the building look and creat additional structural damage. Leaks, roof damages start after they start working on your house. Avoid this contractor by all means to avoid destruction. This contractor has no work ethics and picks up his workers from street with no training. Our association hired this company to paint 100+ buildings. The sloppy and unprofessional workers were horrible. It was like they had just picked up day laborers with no training. They dripped all our paint colors all over the sidewalk and driveways. Streams of paint poured out the back of their work trucks up several driveways. The mess continued when workers left trash in the bushes and left ladders and jackets in the middle of the sidewalks for the weekend. They slopped paint onto the window frames. Scrapping loose paint was very inconsistent. Some trim throughout the neighborhood was painted the wrong color... these guys have no pride of workmanship and have little to no training. Very difficult to work with. Did not appreciate the hand written note, singular, with unclear instructions. The unpleasant woman on the phone had given completely different instructions and was obviously unaware of how things were being handled. As far as I know they are simply redoing the wood trim on the unit. This process has been going on for several months, including through Christmas, and has been moving very slowly. I had the pleasure of working with EmpireWorks Reconstruction and Painting recently on a wood repair and painting project at a Condominium Association. At first I had my reservations about the execution of the project as there was a challenging community dynamic, especially with respect to one of the members on the Board of Directors; however, EmpireWorks and Austin Riley in particular took a proactive approach on foreseeing possible trials and providing recommended solutions to ensure a smooth project from start to finish. Austin displayed admirable patience and understanding with respect to the Boards requests and concerns. They tackled problems head-on and handled homeowner concerns directly with minimal intervention required by management. EmpireWorks completed the wood repairs and painting beautifully with nominal change orders causing less impact on a previously mismanaged budget. This community had deferred their maintenance for several years and the wood repairs and painting were past the point of "overdue." After the completion of the project, the community now looks fresh and new! BEWARE - one of their workers robbed my unit and stole all of our jewelry. Never hire this company. My HOA hired them to do a full exterior paint of my building.
