It was hard to be vulnerable because i had certain expectations for myself, but she was a great listener. During our time together, i had many breakthroughs and learned a lot of skills that im able to keep up with after my 12 sessions. I know a lot of people have had great experiences with Dr. Mel, and that's truly awesome for them, but my experience was not great at all. I only had a few appointments with Dr. Mel, but every time I had an appointment, we would always start late, due to her still working on her previous client's notes, and then we would end early. She would wait until after her previous client's session to write up her notes, but would write my session notes during the session. So instead of looking at my form and ensuring everything was done correctly (and I know it wasn't as I was recovering from a c section and have very weak abs), she would be focused on her laptop writing notes. This happened multiple times. The exercises themselves were very cookie cutter exercises that I could have googled online. Nothing felt customized to my specific needs. I informed them of my negative experience and my wish to cancel all future appointments, and I was told I would receive a phone call. Dr. Mel did call me (over a week after she said she would), but at a time when I was unable to answer. I texted them asking when I could call back and was then informed by Kinsley that Dr. Mel would call me back once she returned from her vacation. I was perfectly okay with that and expressed that that was fine with me. 3 weeks later and I still had not received a call back. I had to recontact them after over 3 weeks, and it was after I recontacted them that they then said Dr. Mel would call me back. I was informed Dr. Mel would call me that Friday in the afternoon. I did receive a call that Friday, but not in the afternoon as promised. Instead, it was at Dr. Mel's convenience at 4:30 pm, which was very inconsiderate of my own time. The phone call itself was basically Dr. Mel invalidating my feelings and telling me that everything I experienced and felt from my own personal perspective was wrong and that she was right. She basically acted like a bully in that phone call but still expects me to want to return to finish up my program. At this point, this isn't even about receiving the refund I initially requested; I understand the package I purchases is non-refundable. This is about basic respect and quality care. I'm not sure what to do, as I did prepay for a package, but just even thinking of going back there makes me feel stressed, not at all comfortable, and not at all in the right mindset to even heal my pelvic floor. I really wish I could have said I had an amazing experience, but I simply did not. read more

Dr. Mel has been a great experience! I did her 12 week program and stayed with her through the end of the year because of the benefits I felt I was getting from working with her. I had two C-sections and a lot of scar tissue. She has helped break up the scar tissue which has been amazing. I never realized how much scar tissue can attach itself to other organs in your body. Her knowledge and ability to try different methods is what I love about Dr. Mel. I also had really tight hips after my pregnancy and she helped customize exercises to stretch them out and get them stronger. She is a wealth of knowledge and just an all around great person. I've enjoyed every session even when they weee tough. My whole family comes with me and my daughter loves playing with Kinsley while I'm training. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I was referred to Empowered Mama for a pelvic floor therapist. My groin and hip were in so much pain, I could barely walk and get dressed. I was 27 weeks pregnant at my first session and I felt so cared for by Kari. She listen to my concerns and created an exercise routine personalized to my needs. I went to keri for my first visit. I was very impressed with how thorough the exam was. I've had 3 c-creations and in between my 2nd and 3rd, I went to pt for back pain. They did soft tissue massage to help which is what I thought keri would do too but she did way more. She was very knowledgeable about the pelvic floor and our what our bodies experience in pregnancy and post pregnancy. I had a lot of light bulb moments talking with her, discovering how a lot of my pain is connected to my pelvic floor. I'm feeling very optimistic about my future treatment. I felt comfortable there. In other PT I've been too there have been multiple ppl receiving treatment at the same time without any privacy. At empowered women, I didn't feel like I was just another person getting the same treatment as everyone else. I felt like my assessment was very personalized. I'm excited for my treatment. read more

I recommend this place to all the mamas who are having postpartum issues. I discovered I have diathesis recti, and my doctor told me I might need surgery to get it corrected. I didn't want to go through that route, so I started researching places that could treat it without having to go through surgery, and I stumbled upon Empowered Mama and decided to give it a try. At 68, I am, so far, the oldest client of Empowered Mamas. For women my age, a weak pelvic floor may mean prolapses, urine leaks, and other less than pleasant problems. I referred myself prior to surgery to repair a prolapse. Each session I had at Empowered Mamas was a full hour, full of information and practice exercises. I was treated respectfully, with a fully individualized program, by delightful and knowledgeable physical therapists. I was then sent a video of my specific exercises to continue at home, which has been very helpful in continuing my exercises with correct form. It was expensive, but totally worth it! I felt that I made a great investment in my health, and have exercises to keep my pelvic floor healthy for my lifetime. I honestly enjoy my sessions at Empowered Mama so much! Dr. Mel and Keri are both knowledgeable and so fun to work with. I feel so lucky to have found Empowered Mama after my second pregnancy and suffering from diastasis recti, among other issues.
