EMW Chinese Bistro Express has become worth the 30 min drive for me. The serving sizes were great and everything came out quickly. The restaurant was clean and the customer service was friendly and welcoming. I ordered the broccoli chicken and was pleasantly surprised that the chicken was actual white meat, not fatty or questionable pieces like you sometimes get elsewhere. I would give this 2.5 stars, actually. I was craving their woh wonton soup because I'd recently had a cup of it at the Bullard location. I was at the office this day and this location on Champlain was closer so I called my order in. When I got back to my desk I was so disappointed to see that the dumplings and veggies were in the broth, not packaged separately as I'm used to. Lil Chinese food spot on Perrin and Champlain that's worth a visit. They have a ton of combo plate options and if you don't see anything you like, you can also get a la carte plates. I prefer green bean chicken, which wasn't a combo item so ended up getting it a la carte with a side of rice. It was pretty good, just a tad bit too salty for me but the chicken was great. I am sensitive about salt amounts so maybe that's just me. All was pretty good. We have been here several times for lunch & dinner. The food always comes out fresh, at perfect temperature. On this occasion I had the full dinner of Cashew Chicken, the soup, salad & piece of shrimp were a tasty start. The dinner is enough for 2 meals. Friend had her favorite Kung Pao Chicken & was pleased as always with her meal. The 2 young server gals are always super friendly & accommodating. The restaurant is always very clean. A celiac's dream! Since being diagnosed with celiac disease, I have not had Chinese food, and was so excited when I found out this restaurant offered gluten free! I've had it several times now and have never once had a reaction to their food! The woman at the counter was very kind and helpful when ordering gluten free, the food is always labeled clearly, and the food itself is great! I cannot recommend this place enough for anyone who is gluten sensitivite or intolerant! This is one of my favorite place for Chinese food. The restaurant is often clean and I love the visual posters of their food on the wall. My go-to dish is the "Kung Pao Shrimp Combo" (includes fried rice, pan fried noodle and sweet and sour pork). The portions very generous as l always can get two meals out of it. I hate to leave this review but quality, quantity, and service has definitely not been meeting or exceeding my expectations like it used to. Had some hot and sour soup from here yesterday (after reading Nicola's review) and it was ok. A little too tangy for my taste but it's not something I order very often. There was hardly any pork in it which definitely made me feel like my meal was lacking. My bf ordered a short rib rice plate with pan fried noodles instead of rice. He was literally given only one short rib.l on top of a massive heap of noodles and bean sprouts. Needless to say it was not enough protein which is incredibly disappointing considering it's about $13 or so for that one plate. I don't expect to pay $13 ANYWHERE for plain pan fried noodles with bean sprouts, and one short rib absolutely does not justify that meal. Very disappointing. Unfortunately I don't know how often we will continue getting our meals from here. Further mention, this was the second time we've felt this way. The last time I ordered over the phone I ordered green bean chicken and we only got green beans; my kung pao chicken rice plate, again, lacking protein. I love supporting local business when it's worth it, but this decline has been very upsetting. read more

My go-to Chinese takeout place in Fresno. They have indoor dining as well normally but during COVID times, just take out! Affordable prices for delicious dishes. My favorite is the spicy eggplant chicken combo plate but I've also enjoyed their Kung Pao chicken, Mongolian chicken, and honey walnut shrimp. Their combo plates also come with sweet and sour chicken, fried rice, and noodles. If you don't want a combo, they also have rice plate or a la carte! Also, they have milk tea! How can Chinese food be so bland? No flavor whatsoever. Horrible pot stickers. Soggy, not crispy, and just blah! Boring vegetable rolls, flavorless Mongolian beef, stale Cashew Chicken with soggy cashews. Don't get me started on the Fried Rice. Thankfully we ordered Chicken Lettuce Wraps. It's a 4 from me, but I know my husband would give this place a 5 -- or more if it were possible! It's hard to find consistently good Chinese food in Fresno. I'd heard about this place from a handful of different Yelpers, so when we had an unquenchable craving, I thought it was high time we tried it. The menu is pretty varied - lots of classics and some speciality dishes too. They also serve boba. We ordered the crab rangoon, mu shu dish (i.e. mu shu pork, but they make it with chicken) and pancakes, orange chicken with a side of noodles, hot and sour soup, and a jasmine milk tea with boba. Mostly everything was good - I enjoyed my orange chicken but the side noodles had been sitting around and had gone gross. I'd recommend rice instead. I wished I'd gone with the chow mein as I'd originally planned. The mu shu was the star of the show - super flavorful and rich, a really generous portion too. They give you plenty of pancakes and just enough plum sauce. We actually finished the sauce off with the last bite. The crab pot stickers / rangoon were pretty good, not too oily, but very onion heavy. I didn't try the hot and sour soup but my husband was happy with it. Said it was one of the better ones he's had in town. The jasmine milk tea with boba was really good - definitely made fresh and the tea was steeped properly so it was really tasty. The serving size is reasonable too, I think it was a 12oz drink. If you like boba but can't face a massive 24oz cup after a meal, this is just the ticket. We're still looking for excuses to go in there just for boba. Ordering was easy and the food was ready at the stated pick-up time. This restaurant is our latest effort to try new restaurants and food. We have tried a variety of dishes from EMW China Bistro Express. Their service is fast efficient. We started with some of the different combos and later rice plates with different entrees. Today we tried their sizzling rice soup. It was delicious and full of shrimp, chicken and assorted vegetables. The broth was rich and tasty. We both loved the soup! Two orders of soup was enough for dinner for each of us. The closest Chinese location near me so happens to be one my Top 3. In my opinion, almost all Chinese restaurants serve prob 90% of the same items but where they differentiate is the taste. Of course, they will be a hit and miss which is normal even at 5 star review places but the question is how often? Prob 8 out of 10 they have been consistent here not to mention their pricing is competitive given their location (Champlain/Perrin). I usually settle for the Garlic or Mushroom Chicken combos for a quick fix but my favorite is the Chicken Lettuce Wrap (which is a stir fried concoction of minced chicken, water chestnut, onion and carrots that you wrap in lettuce). They are usually quick in their ordering turnaround. Good stuff here! read more

READ THIS ONE. They reuse untensils. I had left the restaurant and asked for chopsticks and sides in the bag. after leaving I checked my bag and noticed they were missing. I went in and the young Asian woman said, "go get me the forks." I asked if she could give me the chopsticks and said, "no, you get me forks first." I got the forks and returned them. she put them with the other forks to be sent to another customer who know when. This happened in front of other customers who looked just as confused as me. That was the cherry on top of terrible service mixed with attitude. Also refused to give me hot mustard and firmly stated that she gave me two instead of the single one for my two plates. I used to get boba here all the time a decade ago. It's been a while since I've been back here and the menu has been updated. The strawberry lemonade slush with boba is sweet and yummy. I also tried the pineapple slush but I preferred the strawberry lemonade. The BBQ pork buns were pretty good, and I also liked the #5 orange chicken combo plate. I was eh about the fried rice and the egg roll, but the rest was good. This is a lot of food, it lasted me for 3 meals and a combo lasted my husband 2 meals. Next time I would probably replace the egg roll for the sweet and sour chicken. I would also want a side of sweet and sour sauce to mix with the pan fried noodles. My husband got the sweet and sour chicken and it was good but we both preferred the orange chicken. Overall the meal was good and we would eat here again. read more
