My wife wanted to take me to dinner for my birthday. Encanto is mere minutes from my home and the prospect of trying Columbian food enticed me to choose Encanto. My expectations were not high as I knew this location as Boardwalk Fries and a Portuguese restaurant the quickly went out of business - both of which I was not impressed with. So, I was really pleasantly surprised to walk into a tastefully, well decorated restaurant with full bar. Menus are on tablets with language selection capability - really useful and with pictures. The server came right away to offer help and explain some of the selections we were interested in. However, when we were eating, we were no disturbed. My wife had skirt steak. It was $30, but when you consider the cost of a skirt steak at the grocery store these days and that it came with 2 sides of your choice, I think you would agree its value. I had fish with garlic butter sauce. Don't know what kind of fish it was - didn't ask - but it was delicious. It also came with 2 sides and was only $20 as I remember. I enjoyed a Club Columbia beer with my meal and finished with a fantastic Columbia coffee. (I'm usually a cream and sugar kind of guy, but I took the chance to taste it without sugar and then finished without ever adding it. It was that good.) I had their flan for desert and really enjoyed it. A little thicker than Mexican flan with an almost cheesecake like consistency. My wife had a passionfruit desert which really didn't interest me - not a passionfruit fan, but after 1 taste I found myself going back for another and then another. Overall great food and experience. A note that others have pointed out. When I got the bill, the bottom line was like $97 and that usually includes tax and mor recently a credit card surcharge. I was about to add a tip when I notice 20% had already been included in that $97. So, my meal cost was only $75.00. If you choose to eat here, remember this. read more

We had an amazing time celebrating my friend's retirement. The food was delicious and we ordered a little bit of everything. The stand outs were the mini Colombian empanadas and the guacamole served with chicharron, chorizo and tostones. Everything was served quickly and freshly made. The staff is amazing and friendly. The vibe is fun and lively. They also have live entertainment on Saturdays starting at 7:30 pm. Free parking on site. If you've never been then this is your sign to go. Best Colombian food in the area! Came in here on a whim while driving by and was not dissatisfied. Staff is personable and polite. We tried a variety of dishes and they were all delicious, all with the perfect amount of seasoning. It was all made with fresh ingredients and served within a good timeframe. For the appetizer definitely try the blood sausage with fresh guacamole. The coconut lemonade was refreshing. The coconut rice was also a hit. The lime cake was spongy, a good mix of tart and sweet. Nothing on this menu is a bad choice. The ambiance is relaxed with wonderful music playing. They have a DJ booth in the corner so I assume they have a party vibe some times. read more

The atmosphere was nice and clean. We were a party of 3 people who went in the middle of the afternoon. There were only two other tables occupied with two people each. The food came out warm, not hot. My Pollo con champinos (chicken with mushrooms) had no flavor but there was a lot of meat. My friend got tocos which were also only warm and had no sauce, they were very dry. My other friend said his was also not hot and had no flavor. I paid with a credit card and was going to give the tip in cash when I noticed they charged me 4% to use my credit card and added their own tip amount of $12 in the total charged to my card. If I didn't check the receipt we would have given them two tips. The Costa Rician waitress should have told us. That was deceptive. And 4% is more than others charge to process a credit card. We do not recommend this place. We will not go back there again. El ambiente era agradable y limpio. Éramos un grupo de tres personas y fuimos a media tarde. Had a great experience on two visits to this Colombian spot in Hamilton. Authentic Colombian vibes, good music and I particularly appreciated how clean everything was. Ordered the sancocho de res and cazuela de frijoles. Both were very tasty! For my soup lovers, hard to pass up the classic sancocho dish. The cazuela was full of flavor -- beans, beef and pork-- what else can you ask for. Food service was quick and the staff was courteous. Would definitely recommend if in the area. read more

Beware! I would have given a "Great" rating except for one HIDDEN ISSUE. The food at the restaurant was delicious, the place was immaculate, and the service was good. However, I urge caution when it comes time to settle the bill. I was feeling tired due to a family member in the hospital and didn't review the receipt carefully. I was informed prior that I would be charged extra for paying by credit card and was charged $3.14 for using it, which has become the norm in many restaurants--I can accept that. However, I was surprised to find a gratuity charge included without my permission or knowledge (for two patrons). I hadn't noticed the additional charge of $13.14. When I received the final credit card merchant and customer receipt, the "TIP AMOUNT" field was blank. I assumed I hadn't paid a tip so I added $15.00. I was careless in not reviewing it more carefully. In the future, please, if your establishment tacks a gratuity either include the tip amount and inform the patron or cross out the blank tip line, as already included. This is a deceptive tactic. I want my tip back. Otherwise, it truly would be an excellent establishment. read more

Since this is my first experience at a Colombian restaurant I'm not qualified to say that this is the best, but based on my recent takeout I'm easily a fan. To begin with this occupies a spot that last housed a Costa Rican bbq place that I loved. They opened during Covid and no matter the quality or value of the food, could not survive. I was so happy to see another Hispanic cuisine come into this building. They spruced it up inside and out, and it now even features a bar. I took out 3 dishes to start, chicken with mushrooms, the empanadas and a passion fruit dessert. The empanadas were 10 per order, crispy corn shells with a mix of mashed potatoes and beef, I liked them a lot as did a Colombian coworker of mine. My entree was even better, thin nicely grilled chicken breast in a sauce with a hint of shrimp, and copious amounts of mushrooms. There was plenty of sauce for the buttery white rice and plantains, I'd get this anytime. The young lady who rang me up recommended the dessert, tart thick mousse on a moist puff pastry ish crust, very good. There was a slight language barrier on the day I was in, but not insurmountable. I got just what I wanted. Even the packaging was well thought out, with the rice and plantains being in a separate container. The dessert case held other enticing options that I'll try in the future. The food is excelent, fresh snd delicious. Something to call my atention is how to prepare the red beens ( needs more carefull with sesone , to Me it was tested like can products). the food was overpowered with garlic. 3 for a can soda and there a bit races! I had to seat myself while everyone who came in after me were greeted at the door and escorted to their seat. We went for lunch. They have a very fun drink menu. The place was spotless. The food was great but I would rather go for dinner when I want to eat meat instead of a lighter option. They make it VERY clear the 18% tip is added to the bill automatically so if people say they didn't know it's because the skipped passed the first page on the IPAD that the menu is on. Now, with that said, if the restaurant is not giving you an option for less of a tip, they better give service worth 18% tip. Today they did. I will go back again! It was $95 for 2 people for lunch. Only one of us had a drink. I ordered a yummy large salad with lots of mango and chicken amonf other stuff and he had a an entree ( I forget what!) and he thought it was tasty. read more

Service was extremely slow, and was OK, nothing special. Be aware they add gratuity even for parties of three, and they won't say anything, double check your bill. I will not be returning.
