Every room at this Bed & Breakfast has a theme and its uniqueness. Right over the Maine/New Hampshire line just minutes from Portsmouth, NH where there is plenty to do as well as only minutes from the Kittery Outlets. The really neat owners provide breakfast using cage free range eggs and provide a quiet vintage escape from life whether its for one night or many. This is absolutely the WORST place I have ever stayed. The only positive thing I can think of is the man carried my suitcase to the 'turret.' We opened the door to a cramped entrance with a wicker couch, toilet and shower. One could have sat on the couch and propped his or her feet on the toilet. Next, through an arched doorway, was a double bed and sink. The floor was covered with mismatched rugs. The bed was made with 'linens' that didn't match at all. A sink was next to our bed. The room smelled musty and moldy. Breakfast came with the price of the room, but my husband and I were afraid to eat food prepared in that house. NOT PET FRIENDLY AND OWNERS ARE RUDE RUDE RUDE! Stayed 8/4/17-8/6/17 we left a night early due to the service we received at this B&B. My husband and I had to find a place that was pet friendly and decided that a Bed & Breakfast might be a nice change of pace. Man oooo Man were we WRONG! This place is just AWFUL especially if you have PETS. To start off, we were never told that they don't allow you to keep your pet in there cage. So when we went to meet my parents for food, I was extremely shocked when my phone rang and it was the B&B. The owner called and said that they don't allow pets to be kept in cages. When I asked why she had gone in our room, she had no answer. Which to me is NOT ACCEPTABLE. No were in the policy does it say that the owners are allowed to just walk into the guests room but apparently they can. They DO NOT give fresh towels or make the bed, which is the only reason to me they should be going into your room. When we returned the owners told us again not to put Logan in his cage, and I explained to her that Logan has NEVER been put in his cage as a punishment and that he feels safe and comforted when he is in the cage. Not only that I didn't want him to break anything in the room since it was sooooo over packed you can barely move around without bumping into something. On Sunday, we brought Logan to the Dog Park for over 2.5 hrs. Which was well worth it, he had a blast. When we returned from the dog park, we brought him to the back yard, which is over grown and filled with dog poop from other peoples animals, and let Logan go to the bathroom. After that we went to the Outlets and had lunch. We were gone no more then 2 hrs. and returned to the B&B. We brought Logan for another walk down town which last about 40 minutes. When we put him back in the room, the owner came over to me and asked how long we would be gone for. I told him I was unsure and he replied, well I hope you're not gone more then 4 hrs. because its inhumane to leave the dog alone for that long. I bit my tongue and left to go to Red Hook Brewery for the Country Music Festival. Like CLOCK WORK, 4 hrs late my phone rang and it was the B&B on the phone. They said that Logan had been barking for a couple minutes and they wanted to know when we would be back. I said I wasn't 100% sure because of traffic. The owner said well you need to come back and why would you go so far away when you have a dog. My husband and I left the concert and went back to the B&B. Logan was asleep on the bed when we got back. At that point we were so turned off by the B&B we left, we PACKED OUR BAGS AT 6:30PM and drove 4 hrs back to CT. The owners of this B&B are rude and very out of touch with reality. They treated my husband and I like we were 16 yr olds, when we are in fact in our 30's. The B&B is not well kept and falling apart. You can hardly move around in the rooms without bumping into something. The back yard is over grown and the fence they once had is torn apart from a tree falling on it a few years ago, the owners told us this. The yard is littered with poop from other dogs. The sad thing was, when we were here, no one else had a dog with them, so who knows how long that poop has been in the yard...... If you have pets and want to do things without them, be prepared to be animal shamed. The drive way is small and leaves no room for larger vehicles. You're lucky if you can get on the wifi its patchy at best. The living room where you eat breakfast is crowded and over whelming. The coffee was horrible and they gave my husband a cup of juice and the cup was smaller then his can. When he asked for a 2nd cup, they gave him a strange look and took forever to bring it to him. The bathroom has carpet in it and has a yoga matt under neither it. We stayed in the room named Victoria, which has a separate bathroom. The room features a claw foot tub which was beautiful. However, the shower curtain was awful and they left Seseme Street bubble bath for us to use, as well as KITCHEN towels, that are suppose to be used as hand towels. The towels themselves are small and not nice. All in all, don't waste your money on this place especially if you have pets. I'm sorry I don't think leaving your dog alone for 5-6 hrs is mean or inhumane considering we hiking all day with Logan on Saturday and it rained all day, and then brought him to the dog park and an additional walk on Sunday before we left for the music festival. read more

Really should be zero stars. I have to echo a couple of the previous reviews. My husband booked us for two nights. He was enchanted with the name of the B&B and the central location. We arrived early and pulled into the driveway. The place was rundown and overgrown. We were totally creeped out. We spent a lot of time discussing whether or not to try and find somewhere else to go, but decided to take our chances since we would not get a refund. Big mistake. Every room is dark and grossly overcrowded with antiques and stuff. Every space overfilled with stuff and nic-naks. We were escorted to our room which was high up a narrow, scary staircase. The room was overcrowded with a huge whirlpool tub in the middle. The ceiling over the tub was painted with what was supposed to be blue sky with clouds and a bright spotlight shining onto the tub. There were mirrors everywhere. No bathroom, but a sink and a toilet, with a small room divider for "privacy." There were no screens in the window and no air conditioning because they hadn't "gotten around to it yet." There was no shower, so I couldn't wash my hair. I could go on. Breakfast was less than to be desired. We packed up our stuff and left right after breakfast. This was an expensive mistake. read more

Well I have spent two nights at this B&B and both were less than special for the cost. I thought I would give it one more try, I enjoy that they allow pets and have an antique ambiance. After making a reservation with the owner Peter. I unfortunately had to cancel. I called with my cancelation with plenty of time. Peter was beyond rude, and I don't just mean this time in particular. He has no idea how customer service should be. He gave me 3 sentences before calling my dog a spoiled brat and hung up the phone without saying goodbye. He also gave me a time frame I was allotted to leave my dog alone (as if I ever would). This man also asked me about the time I had stayed there prior and asked if I remembered if a "short fat girl" was the inn keeper the previous year. I said I couldn't remember and he insisted that I remember her physical appearance due to the fact she was wanted for embezzlement. Quite a personal problem I certainly wouldn't want my guest to know about. I apologize for the rant, however I would never recommend this establishment nor will I return. Its far too unprofessional and much too far overpriced for what you receive. Also it's definitely time for an overhaul. I'm not anonymous in any way. This was once a beautiful lady...but something has gone wrong. Possibly family illness or job loss, but the outcome is unfortunate and dangerous. The health department of Kittery has been contacted...and following multiple complaints...an investigation is underway. If that sentence is not enough to waive you away....be aware that their is limited to no air conditioning, must/mildew and some hording issues regarding furniture/household goods. Sure...pets are welcome and rates are reasonable...perhaps that should have been the first warning for us all. read more

What a lovely spot. I could not disagree more with those who gave this antique B & B a poor review. So much love and care goes into each room. There are antiques and collections everywhere. It is certainly not a boring hotel room if that is what you are looking for. The owners are gracious and knowledgable about the area. the location is excellent. Breakfast was delicious. We stayed in the Bella room which is huge and delightfully furnished with a huge hot tub and two shower head shower. Very romantic spot. Our dog was as welcomed as we were. I've never stayed at a B&B before. The room was enormous with a fireplace and whirlpool tub. The bed was very luxurious. Breakfast was simple egg omelet with onion and veggie sausage. The owners are big on animal treatment and vegetarian. read more

The place was weird and creepy. Things in disrepair. We only stayed because it was late and we were exhausted from traveling all day. The biggest problem was 90 degree weather and no a/c. The windows had to be open and the street noise was so loud that we had trouble sleeping. The owner was quirky but nice enough. The breakfast was ok. The front door stayed propped open and cats wandered in and out of the house. Definitely don't stay at this place. Keep looking! read more

Beautiful, Whimsical, Peaceful, Private, and Romantic. If you are looking for a weekend away, Enchanted Nights is a beautiful place to tuck away, relax, and rejuvenate. We stayed in the "Bella" suite for the weekend. The ambiance is amazing, and the suite is beautifully decorated by the owners, who have an amazing artisic flair for decor. Hey, Peter and Nancy. Folks, when they were just starting up, I was renting a room from them. I worked at the shipyard just around tge corner, was going through a divorce and needed s place. They were nice enough to offer a room until I was on my feet again. I enjoyed the antiques and the house. I helped out when I could. My husband and I just stayed there or should I say was suppose to stay there on August 18th and 19th of 2014. The yard was overgrown with weeds the front porch had a ladder tied to the railing. The room was musty smelling and dusty!!! More junk in the room then needed and it was OLD and Stained or Rusty so we deceided to leave. Felt like I was at The Bates Motel very scarey!!!! I have to start my review by saying we read every review we could get our hands on prior to booking our stay at Enchanted Nights. We were desperate for a few days away and the area around Portsmouth is always a favorite of ours. In-city lodgings were booked, so we chanced a stay in Kittery at Enchanted Nights. We love antiques, animals, old Victorian houses, could all the bad reviews still be right? Well, I suppose that depends on how you feel with many trinkets and seemingly unnecessary objects and pieces of furniture around you. We stayed in the Sweet Dream room and were quite comfortable. However, a few things to note: The toilet is basically in a closet with a sliding door - kind of tough to stay slumbering when your regularly-relieving partner is squeaking that door at 3AM. Also, there truly is no shower in the room - there is a lovely whirlpool tub which they bump the room price up for - but the shower attachment is really not useable. Also...and this part is where new lovers need to beware - the tub is in the middle of the room with no drape, curtain, screen, nothing. I'm all for shedding clothes and getting romantic if the mood strikes, but hey - sometimes a girl's just gotta let it all hang out in the sake of cleanliness and would appreciate some privacy! Not happening in this room. People mentioned a smell in the place. We did not notice anything - and I'm the Queen of Smells - if it's there, I'm gonna smell it. Strange sounds that another reviewer noted? Nope. The place was quiet and we had all the privacy one would expect in a BnB. I would expect more house noises if the place had been more full - it's just an old house after all! They creak all the time. People mentioned a fabulous breakfast - we did not find this to be true for our tastes. It was fine, but with so many amazing restaurants in the area, you'd probably do better to go check out the local fare. Firefly in Kittery was quite good, surprisingly with decent gluten free offerings as well. Peter the owner was really lovely - very helpful with restaurant suggestions (you MUST check out Tulsi around the corner) and beach visits, etc. Nancy (or who we assumed was Nancy as she never introduced herself) came out of the kitchen at breakfast and asked if we wanted something additional due to the gluten free nature of our diet and not eating any bread they may have served - which was very sweet. Definitely important to note is they didn't shy away from our dietary needs at all, and had breakfast ready when we scheduled it. We would definitely return, though perhaps to a different room. There is an old charm about the place that we appreciated and felt comfortable with. And there were 2 sweet cats that helped make the place more homey and lived in. read more

While this B&B does offer a lower rate than surrounding B&B's, the rooms were crowded with collectibles. We stayed in the "Turret" room, a pointed room with walls slanting in on you, a fan in the window to stay cool, and only a curtain between the "bedroom" and the toilet (approx. 3 feet from the bed). Breakfast was minimal, but we wanted to hit the road right away anyway. Wish we'd read online reviews before booking the room, because we would have kept looking. read more
